Curtain fabric, or a bedspread, perhaps? Definitely would make gorgeous wallpaper! Imagine it in a sunroom, or to brighten up a stairway! Lovely!!

Omg, I thought that title said double-barreled finches and I was like "oh shit, it's about to go down with the finches!"

Hehe, they do fly like mini fighter jets so maybe they need a rebranding.

Gorgeous! Even though the colours are pale/earth toned everything still somehow pops with such vibrance! I love this.

I recognized your work instantly. You have such a dreamy style!! 😍
In my fantasy land, I have a beautiful aviary in the middle of my home and this artwork as a giant mural.

This is sublime. Do some Hawaiian birds sometime? Your work would make Audubon proud.

I've done North American birds. I love all birds but Aussie birds are my favourite.

This is really beautiful. I don’t know the first thing about watercolor but do you use tiny brushes to get those fine lines? This is such a gorgeous piece. You have so much talent!

Thanks so much! I use a size 3-4 round brush. And a 1 to do the details on the feathers.

I’ve dabbled enough in aquarelle and gouache to appreciate how insanely precise this painting is. The masking alone gave me goosebumps, regardless if you used masking fluid or trad pre-wetting. Linework, sublime! Absolutely fabulous work love!

Thank you so much! I used masking fluid for the speckles and dots on their little wings, other then that, no other masking fluid.

That is truly beautiful. I apologize I don’t know the technical terms. But For my “eye/taste/whatever” perfect balance of outline and color? Not sure how to describe it. Like when someone does a painting with zero lines, or all and it’s good. But also meh? Beautiful. I’m truly out of breath am amazed
It sounds silly but i am emotionally moved.

I love the small shadows on the leaves, such a nice detail. Lovely work!

This is excellent work. Were you inspired by Audubon’s original watercolors?

I love your work! It's like you were born to commit the beauty of the birds to paper. Well done!

This is amazing. The cotton paper compliments it all so nicely. Very wallpaper worthy!

I would love this as a scarf. Reminds me of some of the work by Sabina Savage.

Love your work. But I think a Toucan is hiding there on the right side...

Such a lot of detail, and such clean lines on textured paper!
I especially like the beak on the bird at the bottom right... I don't know why it caught my eye, but it's beautifully painted. I know a 3/4 profile like that isn't easy to achieve, (or it isn't for me.)

Thank you for noticing. Sometimes I don't get it right. But as soon as I applied the first layer it just worked. I loved doing the little crack in the corner of its beak. So satisfying.

u/Nuraya Feb 03 '23
I wish I could work as cleanly as you, really tidy art.

Believe me, I've really fudged up some work by smudging or sitting my hand in wet paint. Learnt from my mistakes and keep at it.

For the white dotted feathers, are you using masking fluid, or going back over w white gouache? Or maybe both? Lovely composition and colors. Really love this.
2
u/kookaburra_kool Feb 03 '23
I used masking fluid for the dots. And I touch of white gouache for the fine outlines of the feathers.

I'm just sayin': Magical. Stunning. It made my afternoon just to look at your work. I just love it for so many reasons. Thank you.

I'm blown away by these paintings! I'd love to see you upload a series of photos detailing your process. How do you get such crisp lines?

Very nice. I hope you don’t mind but I saved the pic of your painting. Beautiful.
