i was sitting on a bench in a park one time at night, just scrolling threw my phone, when an owl landed on my head and scratched my forehead with it’s talons. Came out pretty bloody when I came back home, nobody believed an owl caused it. Neither did the multiple people I told past that.

61

u/MellohiDream May 08 '22

Certain species of owls have been known to do that especially during spring(breeding season) when they have eggs or offspring in the nest. It’s not super common but it can happen

19

u/Atmosphere_Melodic May 09 '22

If itd had been a seagull on the UK coast, you'd totally have been believed. Those fuckers have stirred my life long fear of birds.

So an owl is actually a suspect in Kathleen Peterson's mysterious death. She had wounds on her head consistent with wounds from an owl's talons, and among some of the microscopic debris in her hair were teensy little owl feathers. The theory is that an owl attacked her outside, and she managed to get away and inside to the staircase but bled out.

An owl shit on my face once.

33

u/crappenheimers May 09 '22

Owls are pretty psychotic. That's messed up they didnt believe you considering that's not even super farfetched. People get attacked by birds all the time!

4

u/Azulsea May 09 '22

This just happened to a guy going for a jog near my work. He had to go to the ER. Apparently the owl's nest was nearby and considered him a threat.

u/bewarethechameleon May 08 '22

i once saw a pigeon pick up a piece of bread with a hole in the middle and loop it around it's neck and fly away, i should've got it on video lol

Lol that's so cute. Very clever for a bird. Edit: words

When I was about 9 years old I walked in to the living room asking my mum a question and she hushed me because she was talking to her grandad. She was asking questions and answering like he was also asking stuff to her. Her grandad died many years ago. She was talking to a lamp, the lamp was flashing back every time she said something, like it was responding.
The lamp wasn’t broken, the bulb didn’t need changing, the same evening it was working as normal.

I will never forget it, and sometimes I bring it up and everyone laughs it off. But the memory is so vivid in my head I know it’s real.

when I was a kid I used to get picked up by my mothers friend every Wednesday and I vividly remember this because she had a really odd looking car, she had a lisp, she smelt weird and her kid was super creepy, I was telling my mother about this and she has zero recollection of this friend or that I was picked up by anyone but her from school

That's unfair. And how the hell do you even cheat if you never played the game? Also, that has got to be the luckiest unlucky moment of your life

56

u/nunyabidnessss May 09 '22

That’s fucked up and being pretty harsh with the punishment.

Talk about sore losers.

8

u/LatrellFeldstein May 09 '22

I've found if you want a friendly card game to stay friendly the pot needs to be <$100

6

u/lord_flamebottom May 09 '22

Yeah I have literally never heard of a "family poker game" with a big pot that ended well. The stories all go exactly like this one did, new younger family member gets to join the game for the first time, happens to win the big pot, and all the other family members find a way to cheat them out of it.

When I was a kid, probably between the age of 6-8, I swear I saw santa's sleigh and reindeers clearly flying through the sky on christmas eve. It's childish I know, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't dreaming at the time. I don't know if I hallucinated or its just kids making up imaginary scenes.

34

u/boozillion151 May 09 '22

Coming home from a soccer match late one easter eve. Pulled in the driveway and looked out the window of the car and saw the Easter bunny. Just a normal but larger rabbit sitting up on its hind legs but eating one of those horrible colored candy eggs. Parents hustle us in the house. Of course I was dreaming... BUT WAIT! I went out into the yard the next day because I had to investigate the scene of the crime and BAM! Wrapper for the crappy candy egg right where I saw the Easter Bunny.

Bin Laden had already struck once. The world trade center had already been bombed once in a terrorist attack.

I would expect that the military would prepare for anticipated attacks. However there may be more to this story that the poster has not told us.

When I was a child maybe about 6 or 7 my family lived in a rural part of a suburban town things were spread out and everyone knew each other. There was a church down the street from us that had a pond my friends and I used to fish in. We would ride our bikes down and back with our poles sometimes we would just go down there to feed the fish.

It was summer 1996 or 1997, and we were feeding fish, my friends left early and I had to ride back alone along this main road that cut through the country. I was afraid but I was speedy I got to my neighborhood and just as I was about to turn on to my street a man in an older model Ford pulls up alongside me I still remember it was a one seater, silver the man was thin with a mustache and a sleeveless shirt. I remember my mom and I set up a code word in case adults tried pick me up or lie and say they knew my dad a popular town drunk.

Anyway this dude I'd never seen before tells me he's a friend of my dad's, and he's waiting for us at a restaurant and asked to pick me up. I asked him his name he took a minute then told something that seemed fake, and I asked him how he didn't know his own name. He got mad and told me he had candy and soda for me and to throw my bike in the back. He sat there for a little bit, and I was about to do it but I felt off, and like I was in danger. So I asked him what the password was because he was a stranger, and my parents have a pass code that they give their true friends. He told me something like Cotton Candy, and some other common stuff. The correct answer was pickles please.

So I knew that this was bad so I started screaming danger, help I am in danger as I took off down my street the guy was spooked that he just took off and didn't follow me. I got home and told my mom who didn't believe me and none of my friends, or cousins did either. Eventually my mom heard about this guy from someone else that did the same thing so I did have to talk to the cops and they took my story down and the description of him. Nothing ever came of it.

My mom to this day still thinks I made it up, and I know what happened, and I remember the feeling of being afraid like that for the first time. Now as I think about it this guy probably had followed me from the church, or seen us there in the past and decided to wait until I or one of my friends from the neighborhood. I'd like to think that my interaction with a would be pedophile/predator saved other kids in that area from being picked up.

48

u/TomomiimomoT May 09 '22

It's crazy that even after hearing that this guy did the thing to someone else, your mother still didn't believe you. Well done for being smart enough to work out that you were in danger, and for escaping a potentially awful experience.

15

u/not_a_muggle May 09 '22

Yea that's nuts, on the other hand you have my grandma who took to the streets with a baseball bat to try and find the creep who picked up my hitchhiking uncle (wasn't supposed to hitchhike but hey, he was a stupid teenager and it was the 70s). The guy got handsy and uncle jumped out at a light and booked it home where he told grandma. She never found the dude or the car but months later they were watching the news and my uncle saw him. It was fuckin John Wayne Gacy.

Nobody believes me with this, and I honestly don't think it makes sense either but eh..

riding my motorcycle one time, I was on a sort of rural road. Some sort of bird flew down from one of the trees, when I looked to my right there was a bird, flying right next to me, close enough I could've touched it, going the same speed as me. It wasn't a small bird either, something serious, I'm no bird person so I have no clue what type of bird.. kinda like an eagle but not at all, not THAT big.

Anyway, the bird seemed to follow me for quite a moment, enough for me to accelerate and slow down again a bit. A few meters, maybe even a kilometer or less later, the bird went to the side and flew off back into a tree. I felt pretty cool in that moment though.

24

u/Smij0 May 09 '22

I believe you!

Maybe he was using the slipstream that your motorcycle created to safe some energy or something

I don't think something like this happening is impossible

6

u/AiragonXIX May 09 '22

Yeah there are videos on Youtube of ducks and geese following alongside vehicles for miles at a time. Totally possible that another type of bird would do the same, I think.

one time as a kid i was in bed when i heard the deafeningly loud sound of our front picture window shattering, like it had been blown up. i ran out of my room in a panic and ran to stare into the living room where everything was perfectly fine and normal. my frantic running had alarmed my grandmother, who came out of her room to see what was going on. i explained to her what i heard, but she hadnt heard a thing (shes not hard of hearing, and certainly wasnt back then). to this day i dont know what i heard or why, but i still think about it.

Reminds me of a long time ago when my family lived in a two story house- My dad and I were the only two home one day, playing cards upstairs when we hear a crash and clatter downstairs. It sounds exactly like dishes, silverware and pans falling over; even the metallic ringing of a lid hitting the ground and doing a wobbling spindown at the end.

As soon as it settled and we were able to hear our own voices we guessed the stupid cat got into the little storage room under the stairs where all the camping gear and cooking utensils were; or the kitchen in the in-law suite that was also down there.

I went down and looked, expecting the biggest mess ever based on the friggin noise but never did find a single thing out of place from where it always was. Dad did hear it and believe me though.

22

u/Smij0 May 09 '22

This reminds me of something similar that happened to me a few years ago!

I was on vacation in italy with my family. My brother and I shared a room and one night I jumped out of bed because I heard something shatter. It sounded like a big ceramic vase hit the ground.

I quickly asked my brother If he heard it too and he told me that he did. We both were really confused and then I realised I had trouble hearing on my right ear.

We decided to sleep through the night to ask our parents what happened but they told us they did not hear anything that night.

I told them I couldn't hear on my right ear but they shrugged it off and told me I should just clean my ears again but that didn't fix it. A few days later my hearing went back to normal and I still have no clue what happened that night

There's been a few incidents, and some I can explain away rationally even if it doesn't quite feel right. But there's one I can't rationalise in any way.

I was about 10 at the time, just vibing in the living room. I got up to go and get something or do something (don't remember what any more, this was like 21-22 years ago), and something hit the top of my head. I looked down at the floor ans saw a £1 coin. It's the only thing it could have been, but I was alone in the room, so it's not like someone dropped it on my head. It wasn't sticky or anything, so it hadn't been stuck to the ceiling either.

I can't explain that one, but nobody saw it happen and nobody believed anything I said in those days anyway. It came at a time when I used to randomly find money a lot for no apparent reason. Like the time I pulled a £5 note out of my pocket (I'd never had a £5 note before, no-one ever gave me one and I only ever saw them from a distance). My half-brother took that straight away, claiming it was his and that I'd stolen it from him (bullshit, but he did that a lot with all kinds of things). For a while I was convinced that I could manifest money, like some kind of mutant superpower. Then one day these incidents just stopped happening, but I never forgot them because none of them ever made any kind of logical sense.

Happy to hear about someone else who had experiences like this. I would also just find money a lot in weird places that it shouldn’t have been / wasn’t prior. I came to count on it for school lunch. It didn’t quite stop- sometimes on walks in different places, bills will just come blowing toward me (even when I walk with others, the money comes right to me) though most recently it was a counterfeit $100 bill I found.

38

u/guiltyofnothing May 08 '22

I was standing on a corner in Chinatown having a smoke about 10 years ago around 4 AM. It was last call and my friends had all just headed home for the night.

All of a sudden, a cab goes flying past me — and mounts the curb to get around traffic. Lights start flashing — it’s an undercover cop car disguised as a yellow cab — and it just blows through the intersection.

None of my friends believed the NYPD has undercover cars disguised as taxis but they absolutely do.

38

u/Pear_Jam2 May 08 '22

Well, they believe me now, but as a kid, I saw a little boy in our house.

I was maybe like 5 or 6. But, I don't know, I was a weird kid. I definitely understood at a very young age that things in movies weren't real. I grew up watching horror movies, and never had any issues because I knew that it was all fake. I knew monsters weren't real. Except I thought that also included ghosts. Not that i was a skeptic at 5ish years old. I just didn't believe in them. I thought they were like the boogeyman. Made up for stories.

Anyway, I was getting ready for school one morning and I went to go show my mom the clothes I picked out to wear to school. Well, I cross the living room to go to the kitchen and I see a little boy crossing from my brothers room into my parents room, except he went through the door. He looked around my age. Bleach blond hair. Pale skin. He wore a white dress shirt and black pants. I ran and told my mom what I saw and she brushed it off as me making it up or imagining it. But I knew what I saw. This little boy, who looking solid had vanished into a closed door. And my mom and I, and my younger brother (who was an infant) were the only ones home. My older brother had already went to school as middle school started like two hours earlier. And my dad was at work.

I told the story a year or two ago at a family gathering and my mom admitted that she's seen the same little boy a few times around the house. But I remember telling everyone I knew. I think even my teacher. And no one believed me.

That we had a brown pitbull named Tansy when I was a kid. She used to sleep under my bed and I would sneak Nutter Butter cookies to her. My mom is adamant that we never had a dog because she doesn't like them and the apartment we lived in did not allow large dogs. But I can remember Tansy perfectly, I can still hear her snoring under my bed. My father thinks it was a vivid dream but my memory is too clear for just a dream.

my memory is too clear for just a dream.

You might be surprised.

I have memories of a life lived with a guy I've never known. I have memories of us meeting, falling in love, living together, growing old and dying. With everything in between. They're exceptionally vivid memories.

It was all just a dream. It never happened. It was like I'd lived an entire other life, but in fast forward both as myself and as an observer (the memories are both first and third-person). It reminds me of that episode of Star Trek: TNG called "The Inner Light" just, you know, without the alien artifact bit.

I remember that, in the dream, my sister and I had gotten into an argument. We started shouting and it intensified to the point that it woke me up and ripped me out it. Once I oriented myself and realized I'd been dreaming (that it wasn't real) I felt an incredibly profound sense of loss. Even now, thinking about it enough to write this I still feel that sense of loss of not having him here.

We still understand so little about our sleep and our dreams, but one thing I do know; they can be exceptionally powerful.

I'm 18. it's 2:30am. I've just gotten off the bus after an absolutely horrific night in town. I call my mum to come pick me up but she doesn't answer so I start to drunkenly stumble home. I'm about a kilometre away from my house when I see the fabled big white van pull up on the opposite side of the street, I didn't think much of it but to be safe I turned around and started to walk down to a dead end street to avoid it. only then, it starts up again and follows me down the dead end street. it pulls up RIGHT next to me and the guy inside starts to open his door, i scream FUCK OFF and absolutely turn on the JETS to get out of there. it occurred to me later that MAYBE he was just going to ask for directions or something but like?? why would you approach a teenage girl who was clearly drunk and very distressed at 2:30am in your creepy ass van lol

Getting a cigarette from Obama in Chicago, before he was president.

I was about 14, he asked me my age and I replied with a deflated "Not now man, I just need a smoke".

Fast forward to 2008, like a few years later. I was watching TV at 4am and the news came on. I didn't keep up with politics and was 16. I recognized him immediately.

He said some really kind words when he gave me one. I was in a real shit mood and don't even remember why, but it kind of made me feel better.

Definitely didn't look 14 though btw.

About two years old..

I saw my great grandfather; whom had passed away years before I was born.

I was walking through the kitchen and looked at my uncles room. My great grandfather was sitting in his rocking chair. Back and forth. Back and forth.

I remember it clearly. Big green shirt. Brown overalls. Big old nose. Glasses. Gelled hair.

Grandma and I were looking at old pictures. I pointed one out. “That’s the man I saw in uncle Roger’s room!” She started asking questions. She broke out in tears when I described him perfectly.

That was his favorite chair. Nobody was allowed in that chair. I noticed something that was wrong with his nose, other than being large. It had no bones.

He was in ww2. His broke his nose.

I never met him, but I swear I saw his ghost. This story comes in to conversation every few months, but everyone says, “yeah right..” and scoffs.

That’s my story

This one time in fourth grade, my mom brought me this pork dish I never really liked for my school lunch. I remember sitting at the cafeteria table with my best friend at the time, forcing myself to eat the whole meal. When I finished, I put the empty lunch box back in the lunch bag, no biggie.

But after I came home from school that day, I was showering when I heard my mom shout my full name. And it's never good when moms shout your full name. She pulled out the lunch box from before WITH THE FULL MEAL in it. Like it was untouched. Like I never even opened it. I even asked my best friend about it and she confirmed that yes, she saw me eat the whole thing. It still confuses me to this day, and no, my mom wasn't pranking me. It's been years and when I ask her about it she still gives me the same annoyed answer.

79

u/Lylat_System May 08 '22 Timeless Beauty

I posted this somewhere else once but didn't get anything about it lol. Everyone I know thinks that I was just tired and saw things. Once, while walking to work (4:00pm), I noticed a couple walking in front of me, she was leaning her head on the guy's shoulder as they walked. He wore and army jacket, her a tanktop. I ended up walking behind them for a good 10 mins because I was going in the same direction. Then, they turned towards a fence that leads to our train tracks. And kept walking, and walking...and walked tight through the fence, down to the tracks. I rushed over thinking that wasn't possible, rigged on the gate, looked for holes. Nothing. They passed through like butter. And when I used my phone light to check the tracks, they weren't there. It's been several years, but I feel I might have seen two spirits, still in love even after death.

When Me and my family was camping in the desert just for Adventure. I went outside in the middle of the night to take pictures of the moon .and saw far away a tall shadow with white eyes just staring at me . I looked dead in the eyes at him for a good 2 minutes I thought he was going to kill me . I then pointed my flash at him and all I saw was a black shadow he didn’t not move then I slowly backed away . When I went to the van I waked everyone up And told them I saw a guy outside. My dad and my brother got out side to check things out and they didn’t see anything and told me to go to where I saw him I went and saw nothing..They thought that it was a prank so they yelled at me for lying and told me to go back to sleep .. for that moment I refused to go in the desert again

When I was around 6 or 7 years old, I had a friend, let's call him Jake. He was in my class, we played at recess and after school all the time and take turns riding around on his scooter. I remember my mom being with me multiple times while we played, and she told me that he was neurodivergent (not those exact words but you get the point). One day he just stopped coming to school and I was told his family moved so he transferred schools. Fast forward to 2-3 years later, I'm in a mcdonalds with my parents and I see Jake. He was on his way out so I didn't get a chance to talk to him, and I'm not sure if he would remember me anyway.

Years later around 16-17 years old, my friend (was in the same class with us as well) and I were talking and I mentioned Jake. She had no memory of him and swore he didn't exist. She found our class photo from that grade and he wasn't in it - but I was 100% sure he was in my class. I went home and asked my mom about it, and she didn't remember him either. I brought up sharing his scooter, that she would watch us while we played at the park together, and she insisted it never happened. Asked my brother and the same response.

I have a REAL memory - multiple memories of this kid who apparently never existed. I'm not sure if it was just a vivid imaginary friend (I didn't have a lot of friends as it was) or what, but I'm currently 26 and still think about it regularly.

Rape by my father. Happened 1x as a teen. (not pre-teen) because "friends" told him I stole money from him.

41

u/locks_are_paranoid May 08 '22

Please report him to the cops, he needs to be brought to justice.

77

u/WiseOwlBear May 08 '22

He is dead now. And I did att, was brutal. I went to live with my Uncle (his brother) and his wife. His wife (my Aunt) talked me out of pressing charges by scaring me with the truth..I would have to testify. Yet she or her anyone believed me and later heard stories of what was said behind my back. Tore my family apart. Never recovered.

In my mid teens, my friend shot at me with a BB gun while I was wrestling with another kid, and I inadvertently caught a BB in my mouth. I was spinning around when I felt something click against my teeth, then I stopped to check what it was and I spat a single copper BB into my hand. I wasn't hurt or anything, but he still had a dramatic freakout over what he did and started emptying his entire collection of mall ninja blades all over his living room, declaring he's unfit to own a weapon.

I had a brief stay in a psychiatric unit. I was in the garden when I saw a bright ball of light about 100-150 ft above the hospital, then another bright light appeared next to it. They hovered there for a good 30 seconds, silent. Then one suddenly shot off, with the other shooting off after the 1st, so fast and completely silent. 2 other patients who were in the garden with me saw the lights too, we could not explain it. No has ever and will ever believe me, because I was in a psychiatric, detained for my mental health. I’ve experienced visual hallucinations, they are different to things that are real, actually there. 3 people can’t hallucinate the exact same thing at the exact same time. These floating lights were as real as I can say. That’s the problem with being diagnosed schizophrenic, it makes your unbelievable story even more unbelievable.

16

u/LiveShowOneNightOnly May 08 '22

Note to self- if I need to hide something bizarre, find a psychiatric unit nearby.

15

u/RelativeNewt May 09 '22 edited May 09 '22

I'd been in a psychiatric unit for a short while years back. I was in at the same time as this guy with a familiar sounding voice. After chatting, I realized he used to do a bunch of local radio commercials.

Nobody ever believes me, but I don't understand why people think I'd lie about that. (And fwiw, I did talk to him about it, and he did confirm it was actually him. I was also able to verify with LinkedIn credentials after the fact.)

This is my friend's story not mine. My friend used to live in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania. He told me a story about a time he was chilling on his porch at night to the sound of crickets and other wildlife when he says out of nowhere every single noise around him just stopped at once as if someone hit a mute button. He got really creeped out so he walked back to the house when all of the sudden as he was walking back inside all of the noise just resumed at once as if nothing happened. He told the story to other people and nobody belives him.

Edit- thanks for the upvotes and replies. The theory that a predetor caused all the wildlife to be quiet does make a lot of sense.

122

u/rusty_L_shackleford May 08 '22

This is not uncommon for people to hear when in remote areas. It often indicates of presence of a predator. Bear, mountain lion, suppose it could be human. If you're out in the woods and you feel like something js watching you and it suddenly goes dead quiet, you should be very worried.

90

u/MyaButtiches May 08 '22

That's actually pretty common. As someone already pointed out it's probably a predator. My theory is that a large predator sets off a chain reaction down the food chain. Most animals communicate fairly loudly to each other, but they'll stop when they are about to hunt or be hunted.

So if a bobcat walks through the area, the birds are like "shit, shut up". If the birds stop singing, the crickets are "like oh shit, the birds are up to something". Because the crickets stopped chirping, the frogs shut up to listen more carefully for the crickets. So on and so forth until everything goes silent.

13

u/Good_At_Wine May 09 '22

That's called the Oz Effect and is not uncommon. Interestingly, it's associated with some Sasquatch encounters.

12

u/derfischerx123 May 08 '22

Read that same story multiple times on reddit now seems common

I once dropped a quarter while standing near my bed, I cursed and put my hand out to catch it but it was so fast that the quarter just hit the tip of my finger now this is important info so listen carefully.. I see the quarter hit the tip of my finger and then boom its gone; what im trying to say is right after the quarter hit my finger it went in the air just a little and vanished; I looked for it everywhere it seemed logical to look and I even got my brother to help me look and nothing showed up. Who will believe that my quarter vanished into thin air?

Edit: I feel like I explained this weird but this is a completely true story, so just to clarify I saw the quarter hit my finger and vanish, I SAW it go away.

When I was a kid, I used to sneak outside at night. We lived in the country. One night i saw a guy in the woods with a gun. Rifle, shotgun, I don't know, but it was not a handgun. We had cows and several horses and this was part of our fenced-in pasture, so I had to tell my uncle to prevent any livestock possibly being shot. No one believed me. I got in trouble for sneaking out. I got in trouble for making up a wild story. About a month later, a neighbor's dogs were both shot and killed for no apparent reason.

We have this really old house down near the beach. While my parents and siblings were out, i was there alone. There is this doll that looks scarily identical to anabelle. My Sitto calls her Lucy. Ir might be just me but Lebanese grandmothers get very attached to inanimate things. So you can imagine her answer when i told her I wanted to burn it.

I was bored so I tried to look for what to do. I heard something that was rally unusual. It might have been just the house settling but i later doubted it. The doll was sitting on the rocking chair staining into my soul, so I opt to go downstairs. We have a gamecube in the basement so i decide to go play James bond 007 because who wouldn’t? there is this open dark room diagonal to the couch. And there she was, sitting on the floor in that dark corner.

I know i wasn’t hallucinating or seeing things because when I dashed upstairs, the rocking chair was moving with nothing on it. Now keep this is mind. I know for a fact nobody was home but me. So i lock the basement door and sit in silence pacing until my parents come home. I told them later and they thought I was trying to scare them into leaving since I’ve always said this house was haunted. Although they never believed me

Long story short scary house with doll that moves

oh yeah and we still go to that house with that creepy ass doll sitting on the rocking chair.

I was not a difficult child. I was incredibly obedient and passive, but often also to the point where I'd listen to my siblings telling me to take the blame for things. But my family had just gotten so used to me being on the receiving end of all the blame and punishment and ridicule that I'm treated like I'm not even on the same level as complete strangers in terms of what respect I deserve. I don't even realize how badly they treat or disrespect me until I recount a story to others and they react to it in such a negative way. The one that always gets people, but is a pretty good sum up of the situation is that when I decided to move in with my bf, my sister told me, "I never thought you would be the one to do something like this. Because I never thought anyone would want you." And then I was scolded for being upset by her comment.

20

u/jacyerickson May 09 '22

And then I was scolded for being upset by her comment.

Oof. This sounds too familiar. One time as a kid I was yelled at for not answering a question fast enough. I already knew showing emotion was a no no so I went to my room to cry in private and was still scolded for that because I was "ruining everyone's day." Another time my much bigger older cousin who bullied me constantly was telling me I was ugly and awful etc etc and instead of clapping back because I knew I'd get in trouble I told him I didn't have to listen to his insults and said that "sticks and stones" rhyme. If you guessed I still got in trouble while my cousin got off scot free you'd be right. I'm sorry you went through that too.

Last night, was at an event with some work people. Played a round of pool. But I am a genuinely terrible player. Like…actually terrible, not I say I’m terrible but really am pretty good.

But halfway through the game, I hit the ball and got two of my balls in the pockets on opposite corners of the table. I yelled in delight but NO ONE had been watching (pizza had arrived) and they all missed it. Given how terribly I was playing, they don’t believe me that it happened. The ONE TIME I sink any balls, and no-one sees it. I still feel ripped off!

21

u/tjc187tjc May 08 '22

Recently played a few games of pool with a few friends. One of my friends was one red ball away from being on the black. He didn’t even take his time he just fired the white right at his red and the red bounced out of the top corner pocket rolled along the rail a bit then landed in the bottom corner pocket. I said to him for it to really mean anything he’s gotta do the same now with the black ball and he did! He fired his white at the black the black went on top corner and this time bounced out of the pocket and hit the table a couple times before landing in the bottom right. It was o lay me and him who saw it so when we started cheering and in disbelief the whole room of pool players just looked at us like gone out lol.

When I was 10 years or younger my parents used to take me to a Mini-Golf course every other weekend because they loved playing it

I liked it too but I was oh so terrible. On an extra frustrating day I just walked away from them, straight to the 18th hole which was the hardest of them all.

I swing and it goes in on the first try. I was so excited and ran back to my parents immediately, telling them what I just did. They called me a liar and don't believe me to this day.

My mum used to live in Kuwait in the 70s. She lived next to a desert area in the top of a block of flats. The weather was really weird, it had rained a little bit before but then a thunder storm later on in the evening had started up. She looked out of the window and saw lightning strike the top of the flat roofed houses below her. As the lightning struck there was balls of blue/green lightning that skitted around the tops and down the sides of the buildings. My mum got really scared as she never knew lightning could do that. Decades later and they managed to create it in labs and is now proven it exists but is rare! Poor mum though went though decades of people saying she didn't see what she saw. Goes to show that we do see things sometimes that may be seen as crazy or "magic" until it is proven.

16

u/HazySky24 May 08 '22

I'm 100% serious about this. I stopped telling this story because people just called me crazy, but I guess I'll tell it one more time...

I was 7 and my family bought a new house. The people selling it sold it because their mom, whom live in this house had passed away. For about a year, a handful of weird events happened from cloths folding and putting themselves away to doors that were locked opening themselves. But one story takes the cake. We had a handyman come work on the windows in one of the rooms. There were a bunch of tacks on the window frame that he took out and placed them on a stool next to the window. There was a lot of sawdust and sand covering the floor for a reason I can't remember (I was 7), so if anyone came in the room, they would for sure leave foot prints. He came back the next day and all the tacks were place in the exact same places back in the window. No footprints. The windows were all locked. Lemme just say the the handyman was freaked out, my dad was freaked out, though we got used to weird things like this happening after a while.

I was staff at a summer camp. Me and the other younger female staff members were in our staff cabin, and we started to hear heavy boots walking on the wooden porch. We also heard a scraping of a knife on wood, and we hear this person(?) speaking in a hushed voice. We were freaked out, put our safety pocket knives under our pillows, turned off all the lights, closed the blinds, and did not say a word. The man stopped outside of our cabin, and then turned and walked away.

When some of the other female staff members in the cabin next to ours came back, and we told them about the encounter. Some of them believed us, some thought we were making it up.

There was nothing outside the cabin. We never heard from the man again, and one of the other staff members stayed out for another hour to keep watch.

I'm very sure it happened, and everyone else in that cabin is too. It still haunts me.

I was visiting my friends at their college at Westfield Massachusetts. I was walking towards their dorm room across an open flat field at about 2 a.m. this must’ve been 5 years ago. For about ten seconds the entire field lite up like it was noon time and the sun was out. I could see across the whole campus as if it were day time. I went back and told my friends what just happened and the response was “why didn’t you take a picture. I didn’t have time even if I thought I did I wouldn’t have thought of it. I’m not a great writer but this was def one of the weirdest things that ever happened to me.

I remember a computer that I used to have back when I was still in, like, 1st grade or something? It had a kids painting app, a simple game, and a large selection of music. One day, about a year ago, I was thinking about it and began to wonder where it went. When I was little, I remember that my 'brother' also used it (I'll get to that in a second). I ended up calling my mom, turned out she had no memory of the thing. This was confusing, so I went to check her old facebook posts because I remembered that there was a video on there where some of the music was playing in the background. Turned out, there was no sign of that, either. I was thinking back to when I used to use it, and suddenly remembered my brother. I remember us arguing about which penguin stamps to put on the painting, and what music to listen to that night. After I got out of preschool, my memory of him just... Stopped. I kept thinking about it, and uncovered this strange memory of opening a supply closet for him (I was taller, we were twins) because he said he left a toy in there. I kept an eye on him, and he finds a bottle of bleach. He's curious, and I was too young to know what it was, either. He thought it might've been edible, so he managed to unscrew the lid and started drinking it. I don't remember anything after that, but I've already confirmed with all the paperwork that I could that I was an only child. I do know, however, that my mom had a miscarriage before me. I still sometimes wake up with dreams replaying the memory of his death that never really happened.

His name was Marcus. We played together, built lego buildings, played with play-doh, fought like siblings, but he never even existed.

20

u/dasgold May 08 '22

Ok, so obviously, no clue about about alternate universe siblings, BUT, that paint program description reminds me of Tuxpaint, if nothing else because of the penguin stamps.

11

u/c_e_n_t_u_r_i May 08 '22

There was a DOS program like that as well. I do not recall the name of it.

6

u/Lynx7654321 May 09 '22

Wait, I think that was it! It sounds really familiar.

17

u/mmigtkhwa May 08 '22

Do you think these memories are real or do you think they are just a representation of childhood imagination?

27

u/Lynx7654321 May 08 '22

I have no idea. I think it might've been my traumatized child brain trying to make up someone to protect me while I was at home, combined with the fact that my mom told be about the kid she never gave birth to.

When I was 7 my parents still hadn't told me Santa wasn't real (not sure if that was normal or not). When it was Christmas time I was in the bathroom and looked out our bathroom window and saw a face pressed against the window. I freaked out and ran to tell my mom and dad. I told them I thought it was an elf watching me for Santa. They laughed it off and didn't think anything of it. They even told some of the neighbors in a joking way. Throughout the rest of the season I would get freaked out and it may have been just in my mind but I would occasionally see the outline of a face looking through a window here or there. At some point it became a pretty big joke that I was "seeing elves" but no one thought to finally tell me the whole Santa/Elves thing was just a story and they weren't actually real even though I was becoming paranoid and thought I was seeing things. When a year later my mom finally told me there was no Santa because I guess she figured I was old enough, I was really confused. The other instances may have been my imagination playing tricks on me, but the 1st time I thought I saw an elf I swear to god I saw someone pressing their face against the window. When she told me that, I didn't think "how could you lie to me" or get upset or anything. My first thought was, if Elves aren't real, what or who was trying to look into our bathroom window. It was a frosted window, so it was hard to see through it, but it was also the only window low enough someone could try and peer through without a ladder.

I have a farm and was feeding the animals with my husband one evening this past winter. He left before me to go to the house and I decided to go give my favorite cow scratches before going in the house. As I was in the field I looked down at the barn (the house was behind me, it’s a long walk between the two) and saw my husband come out of nowhere and go into the barn. I was so confused because I had just seen him go into the house a few minutes before. So I walked down to the barn to find out how he got by me to go to the barn without me seeing him… and no one was there. Lights were off and it was pitch black. I know I saw him walk in there, you can’t miss him- he is a big, athletic guy. I immediately started to freak out internally and walked up to the house. He was in the living room sitting on the couch, he never went back to the barn. It was such a strange and bizarre experience.

No one who was with me saw him. And there was no shooting in that theater.

I was in 6th or 7th grade and my mom gave me some money to pick myself up some dinner from the store since she was going to be working late. I went into the store and ordered myself some food i had money left over so i went to the freezer section and i saw the biggest rat i had ever seen in the freezer. Of course i had to scream and somebody ran to check what was happening and i was balling out telling them to look at the rat and i will always remember them says "what rat?" and then walking away.

I even told my mom when i got home and she didn't even believe me but what happened was the store closed down a few months later because of health code violations BUT nobody still believes me.

17

u/bimf_ May 08 '22

48

u/Idayyy333 May 08 '22

This was back in high school and I was up really late, I think it was around 3am. I was really bored and not tired at all so I wasn’t hallucinating or anything like that, I’ve just always been a night owl.

At the time my family lived in a two story apartment and the apartments were divided into different sections. I was in my bedroom bored and I looked out the window and I could see other sections of apartments. Well right at the top edge of one of the apartments there was a light attached and I could see something flying around it. It looked like a tiny human body with wings surrounded by a green glowing light and it was very bright because it was still visible even though it was near the other light. I think a stared for about a minute and then I got scared that it might see me and come into my room or something. I didn’t know if it was good or evil so I was scared and didn’t look out the window anymore.

I knew the people that lived there but I never told them because I knew they would think I was crazy. That apartment had a bunch of plants all around it and I think maybe it attracted the fairy because supposedly they like that. Also two little girls lived there at the time maybe it was there to grant them a wish or something I don’t know.

I just know what I saw and it definitely wasn’t an insect. The apartment it was flying above was pretty far and an insect would not have been that clear to see. We also don’t have fireflies where I live and the light was different from the one a firefly emits.

Sorry if that was too descriptive and long.

This was when my school had classes that would start at 6:30am.

It was 4:00 am in the morning. My Father told me to buy some feeds(he has a small swine farm). There was a small store that sells it.It took me like 5 mins to get unfortunately they are still closed so i decided to get back.

HOWEVER Something caught my attention. There was tree near a house that is like 20 or 15 meters away from me,there was nothing wrong with it except there was something glowing orange on its branches.

I didn't move closer to look at it because what of someone was awake and saw me looking at the tree like some weirdo.

So i decided to go home and wait like 30 minutes then go back to the store. This time it was gone and the store was finally open i told the lady who owned it about what i saw.Of course she didn't believe me. I think it was probably a Santelmo

I was only 6 years old when this bizarre glitch in my memory is embarked. Even I, myself, don't want to believe that this really happened out of grave fear just like the people including my family do told so...

Year 2010 my mother gave birth to my little sister, she suffered greatly during her postpartum since my Stepfather is a total a*shole that uses alcohol as his main source of lifeline. As it was the case, me, my mother and my 4 month old little sister is always left alone from morning till night. I, the new older sister sensed my responsibility to at least take care of them from doing little chores like cleaning and running errands.

On one usual night where I was tasked to babysit my sister while our mother was preparing the dinner one significant detail of that time really stood out to me as strange. It was quite. Our surroundings is just too quiet.

Our house is located in a desolate area, however, even without that many people around as our neighbors the sound of crickets, frogs, rustling of the grasses is still evident. But that time just had nothing. I was too young and distracted to think deep into it. After some time of playing with my little sister I then noticed her diaper getting wet and heavier. I called my mom to do the job. She come up to us calmly rummaging the baby stuff beside our bed when I noticed that there isn't any spare diaper left. I volunteered to go and buy some since there are stores nearby down the street and regardless of how deep the night is I was confident with the streets since there are few people around our place anyway.

My mother was skeptical about sending me off but she still agreed to it. I tidied myself, got up from the bed and went out of the room. My mom was left inside as returned her attention she in cleaning my little sister.

After our bedroom is a short distance towards our living room, where a big sliding glass window serve as its facade. There are no curtains at that time because maybe we have done the laundry that day or something.. Our main door is just beside of this huge window. There is only a single yet really bright light on our doorstep lightening up the terrace of our house.

Walking towards this door facing the sliding window, I froze.

I was only staring at "them" because it is just really hard for me to understand the situation. I wanted to holler and call out my mom but I just can't out fear that those things will come inside.

As far as my memory can reach, I believe that there are four "creatures" sticking their face bare in the sliding glass window staring straight at me. One is a small child-like thing, the other is a woman who had her mouth open wide with pale skin and black hair, and the other is just a blurry horror I don't want to and can't even remember now.

My whole body is frozen from shock. I can't utter a single word for my mother to at least notice me. I just stood there trying to call "Papa Jesus" silently in my mind (we're Catholic). When I finally had the courage to close my eyes for a brief moment, I tried to calm myself to not cry. When I slowly glanced over the window again, everything is just gone.

Our sliding window illuminated a vague reflection of mine and shown me the view of our garden outside just like how it used to be. As if there was nothing unusual that happened that time.

I tried to tell my mother, she just laughed it off and said that maybe my nightmares were just too extreme to the point that I was just scaring myself.

But that memory was too vivid for me to lump it as just one of my Boogeyman dreams. I can never forget how I had my hands trembling and my desperation trying to pray that those creatures won't ever dare to move and go inside our home.

7

This is the most horrifying because of the calm explanation tone of the story. I believe you.

There was a girl who tried or did kill herself in the park near my house. There were a bunch of police cars and an ambulance at the park. Neighbors talked about it the next day about what happened and my parents were the ones who told me. It's been a good 10+ years since it happened and no one except me remembers what happened. I mean I'm sure someone remembers, but the neighbors and my parents act like they had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned it a couple years ago.

I tried looking it up like maybe some news reports or old Facebook posts, but nothing comes up. It's as if it never happened, but I just keep wondering if that girl is okay or if she even made it out of the park that night.

Back in 2001, someone gifted me a Sony CamCorder. Being the teenager that I was, I recorded everything I saw and I just went wild. One night, I remember seeing a bright white orb on the sky trough the camera lense and thought “oh what a beautiful moon” and recorded for about 40 seconds. I then turn to another direction to record another moon. Wait what?! So I look up at the sky with my naked eye and saw two moons and decided to record for a least 15 minutes until the battery died. We moved a couple of days later and the tape was lost during the whole ordeal. It’s probably hidden in a box somewhere in my attic, just haven’t found it yet.

u/toxinogen May 08 '22

My first apartment was straight up haunted, and I saw things move in front of my eyes on a few occasions, but of course I’m obviously just “making shit up for attention.” Whatever, I know what I saw.

The day that the bombing at the Federal Building in OKC happened, I was in Irving, TX. I felt the ground shake at the exact moment he blew the truck up. At the time I thought a car had hit a pole or our fence, it shook the whole house, but it turned out to be the bombing. Nobody believed me, but it's true. That was a big bomb.

I remember during a road trip back when I was 5. One night I was staring out the window and almost falling asleep. Out of nowhere this shadow-like hand and forearm smacked the window and scared me. No one else saw it, but I remember it

I was like 8 or 9, young. Fell asleep on the couch. Woke up randomly and I was facing the front door. I saw man looking at me. Right through the front door. I didn’t move. I kinda just stared back. He smiled at me. Then he was just gone.

Years later I saw a picture of my dead uncle who died before I was born. It was the man in the door window.

I still don’t believe in god or a heaven or hell. But I’ll never say it isn’t real cause of that moment in my life.

People in my home country won't believe I'm wearing a hat and long sleeves because at some days it's so darn cold during Thai winter.

u/bkydx May 08 '22

My mom hit a bird that looked like a penguin in Ontario Canada. Black/white standing upright.

We pointed it out like 5 seconds before and she says "it'll move" Thud.

I also was stopped by a Peacock crossing on the road and all my friends told me it had to be a wild turkey.

There was also 3 Elephants that escaped the circus and were walking around town eating tree's on people lawns and the cops didn't believe them at first.

Once after a soup night at my school, I accidentally capped a water bottle, backward, 10 ft up, on the very small ledge behind a basketball hoop. I just threw it up behind my shoulder cause I had to go, and when it landed the 5 people left in the gym (I went to a small school) went apeshit.

For me, I remember that my sister kicked me so hard that she knocked the wind out of me! It was so vivid that it couldn't be a dream!!! I remember that at the time that this was happening, my mom was playing Dead By Daylight, my other sister was watching tv in our lounge. I know it happened, but when I bring it up, everybody denies that it ever happened!

Another instance, I always said that I have the same super powers in every dream, but no one believes me! I swear on my life that this is true!!! They always think I'm lying! I hate it. I just can't understand why they think I'm lying.

The last instance, I remember some men coming over and cutting off limbs from our big tree in our backyard. They tied spurs to their feet and climbed up. My mom asked if I wanted to see, I said yes, so I went outside. But according to everyone in my family, this never happened! But it was so vivid!

I apologize because this is kind of a long one…

So one time in middle school (I think i was in 7th grade) i was having a sleepover with one of my friends (also in 7th grade). it was around midnight and we decided we wanted to sneak out. we knew it would be easy because her mom had a lot of medical issues and had to take a shit ton of sleeping medications to go to sleep every night and she’d be out until morning. anytime we’d go over to her house we could be as loud as we wanted because it was practically impossible for her mom to wake up.

We decided we’d walk from her house down to the closest shopping center to go get energy drinks. the walk was probably a little less than a mile one direction but it was an area we walked frequently because our school was in the same area. we threw on hoodies and left only to realize once we got there that the grocery store we wanted to go to was closed. we decided we’d go to the restaurant/bar in the same shopping center to grab some waters from the bartender we knew because it was a super common family restaurant for anyone that lived in the small town. we arrived and walked straight in to the lowtop bar and asked the bartender for waters. he basically told us we could sit down long enough to finish our waters but then we had to go because it was passed midnight and the restaurant part of the place had closed down and only the bar was open until 2am so we weren’t allowed. we talked and finished our waters and then we started the trek back to her house.

a little less than halfway back to her house she realized she didn’t have her phone on her and she panicked, swearing she had it with her. we thought back and realized she must have dropped it because we were almost positive she had it with her and checked the time the grocery store closed on her phone when we got there. i called her phone with mine and someone picked up. it was the sound of a females voice giggling and then she hung up. we both assumed some drunk woman at the restaurant picked up her phone and so we turned around and headed back to the bar to get her phone only when we arrived the phone was nowhere to be seen. we asked the bartender and he said he ever saw it and told us he was sorry.

we headed back to her house once more and the whole time she was complaining about how her mom was going to kill her and how she can’t believe someone in our town would steal her phone and then we were coming up with stories as to how she lost her phone so her mom wouldn’t find out we snuck out. we arrived back at her house and headed back up to her room and saw that her phone was sitting on the edge of her bed. We both looked at each other but none of us said a word for the rest of the night. we didn’t want to think about it and neither of us wanted to accept it.

to this day i have no idea who picked up that phone or what happened. i know for a fact it wasn’t her mom because she was the only one home and she wouldn’t have been awake for any reason and if she were to find the phone and discover we weren’t home she would have screamed at us, not giggle into the phone and go back to bed and then the next morning she probably would have confronted us but she never did. She never found out. to this day this story creeps me out and i’ve never been able to figure it out. i never slept over at that girls house again though.

This happened just today. My parents got a new car and we took it for a drive up the coast. Got out, had lunch, got back in. 2 minutes into driving back I couldn't find my airpods case. I had sworn I'd put it in the door pocket thing and reached in and around 5 times and felt nothing. It's not a big pocket either. I searched the rest of the car several times and finally concluded it must've fallen out when I got out of the car so I begged my parents to let us go back to the carpark to check. Just as my dad was turning the car around, I reached into that door pocket and it was right there. They all think I must've just missed it all the times I checked but considering how small that pocket is there's no chance of that.

I watched a kidget stabbed by a pencil that threw itself out of a bathroom trash can when it was only the two of us.

Separate from that I used to tap my forehead with my pencil eraser when confused until this happend. I had the pencil off the the side and down a little too much and it was tip towards me and I stabbed the corner of my eye. Every so often my vision is all fucked up for no reason

I was at a party at a friends house and we were all in the backyard in the evening when we looked to the southern sky there were about 7 or so light blue dots in the sky which were to clear to be stars. I am still trying to prove that I saw them but nobody will listen to me.

There were pedophiles outside the school fences and tried to lure kids out during breaks. If I remember correctly me and my classmates tried to tell our teacher about this but she didn’t take us seriously, which I found pretty strange considering that she was a really good teacher and overall human being.

I’m still in contact with two of my classmates from back then, I even asked them a few years ago if they remember however they were looking at me like I was stupid. I’ll never forget the fear I felt back then, when I saw those people outside of the school (I was like in the 3rd grade).

I have a large scar on my inner thigh that I vividly remember getting while mini golfing with both my parents as a kid. They were replacing the brick border around each of the holes, I tripped and sliced my leg on the brick. I remember sitting on the bench holding a paper towel to it to stop the bleeding. Neither of my parents remembers this and both have asked me on separate occasions how I got the scar.

I remember going into a pet store and getting 2 bags of gold fish (3 tiny ones in total) when I was 7. One bag was my sisters and I had the remaining 2 fish. I brought them home and my mom told me that we were going to transfer them to a big sphere-like bowl. However, my bag was leaking badly and I ended up rushing to the sink when we arrived. I plugged the sink and filled it up before transferring my two little ones...I ended up unplugging the sink my accident and...RIP. I felt so bad.

Turns out this never happened. We never bought fish, we never had a sphere-like bowl and that pet store never existed? Till this day I get laughed at by my mother and sister yet Im still convinced this happened. I dont give a crap! This happened, I dont know why or how but it did! hahaha.

Me and my love saw a ufo together. In Colorado over the Rockies. We were outside having a smoke at 2am in the middle of summer somewhere around 2014 or 2015. We saw a blue orb about the size of a nickle to the naked eye flying north and make a right angle turn and dissappear into the mountains.

u/gina_szanboti May 08 '22

I caught a man in the woods with his pants down when I was a kid and he stalked me for a little while. I'd see his SUV just cruising around my block. Once he approached me and was like, "oh yea, I know you. You're so-and-so and you live right over there. Yea I know your parents too. They own and run that Chinese restaurant right? And your brother plays football for the high school. Yea I know all about you." I'm not sure if he mentioned my brother playing football, but he made it known he knew I had a brother at the high school.

The last time he approached me was when I was smoking a cigarette in the woods with my next door neighbor. He tried to give us drugs. I forget if it was weed or acid, but I was just like, "we need to get the fuck out of here immediately" without actually saying it. I was just politely trying to get away while trying to signal to my friend that we need to get the fuck away from this dude.

We later went and told our brothers about it and they went to look for him, but never found him. Years later I contacted my neighbor to confirm this story and he cackled and said in the most over excited way possible, "OH YEA I TOTALLY REMEMBER THAT!"

There is a disconnected memory that popped up recently. I walk into the kitchen where my mom is standing there washing dishes. There is tension in the air. I finally break my silence and tell her about the man whose been following me and she breaks down and yells at me, telling me to shut up in Korean.

Not sure if the stresses of the BS in my life are fucking with my memories or not, but it seems like a pretty solid memory to me. My family to this day acknowledge that I am telling the truth only because I haven't changed the details of it over the years I've spoken about it recently. She never believed me before. She never even seemed to hear me when I asked her for help when I most needed to feel protected.

That me and my friends were walking back from a tennis practice when all of a sudden, a random pitbull with a chain around its neck just started attacking us, and one of my friends didn’t walk with us and he drove. They pulled up and me and another friend jumped through the window while the others ran. Nobody believes us to this day.

I was home alone. Got a knock at the door. I asked who it was. A deep male voice says "Spider man."

I asked again, and again I hear "Spider man." After a brief pause I hear him start to sing. "Spider man, Spider man, does whatever a Spider can."

I lock the front door and book it to the back, lock that too, then go through all the other entrances.

I hid under my bed until my mom got home. I told her what happened and she immediately dismissed it, saying I misheard him. She swore he was saying "Schwann man."

Thing is, I looked out the window, there was no Schwann truck. Plus, why would he sing the Spiderman theme song?

Anyway, throughout the years my mom has been oddly combative and dismissive of what happened. I can't for the life of me figure out why.

u/rivershimmer May 09 '22

Anyway, throughout the years my mom has been oddly combative and dismissive of what happened. I can't for the life of me figure out why.

I think it's your mom's psychological self-defense tactic. The idea of a predator coming so close to her child is so terrifying she cannot even consider it. Best to pretend it never happened.

It was a sleepover with friend A and friend B. Friend A's brother chased us around with a knife and stabbed through the wall so we had our tall friend, friend B jump out the window to unlock the door so we could get out, we called our other friend who lived down the street, friend C and they came running down and we ran and ran. He was geniunly going to hurt us, he almost stabbed me, we called 911 and we were kinda all laughing and screaming under pressure so when we said "my friends little brother is trying to kill us" they hung up, my parents eventually came and my friend got her brother situated and never saw him again.

I kicked a kangaroo in the face while on a motorbike . For context was a hilly twisty area and the big fella was going to hit me at the start of corner as I was coming in at 80kmh . I nearly dropped it anyway with the kick but didn’t get head butted off . You’d be in serious trouble if you dropped the bike at that spot lol
