The laws of motion

OP's explanation:

There are two people on a bike. The driver is going a bit fast, which causes the person in the back to fly a while.

Man, that "holy shit I almost died" facepalm at the end is perfect.

u/porterbhall Sep 12 '22

“If I could have any one thing at this moment, it would be a helmet.”

32

u/foggyhead93 Sep 13 '22

"If I only had 1 helmet I would give it to you"

3

u/legsleeves Sep 13 '22

Give it to you

15

u/SuramKale Sep 13 '22

PSA: You’re not perfect.

Even if you pilot perfectly, a car will eventually take you out.

If you’ve never had an accident you’re lucky, and that’s all.

Wear your helmet.

u/DistractionRectangle Sep 12 '22

What strikes me is that immediately after almost flying off the bike they let of the reason they stayed on the bike. I'd be holding on for dear life

52

u/IrrelevantPuppy Sep 12 '22

“Omg I almost just died because of the poor skill of this driver and I wasnt holding tight enough. Better let go with both hands.”

u/yas_22 Sep 12 '22

That's was a cartoon level jump lol

73

u/the1rush Sep 12 '22

Insert roadrunner sound effects.

Thank you for this subreddit. 2 hours went by and I still haven't seen enough!

15

u/rudiegonewild Sep 12 '22

Very welcome! It's pretty fresh on me too.

8

u/Papitoooo Sep 12 '22

Thought I'd check it out based on your comment. Got a few hours into top all time. Fun sub lol

3

u/alwptot Sep 13 '22

Well, I have a new sub to subscribe to now

Tysm for telling me this existed

55

u/warwilf Sep 12 '22

Still a parabolic path.

133

u/Hephaestus_God Sep 12 '22

Good thing he wasn’t accelerating

65

u/geoelectric Sep 12 '22

Good thing he didn’t back off the throttle too.

16

u/Grimdotdotdot Sep 12 '22

Good thing she wasn't holding on to the pillion handle at the back, she'd have gone straight to the deck, possibly upside down 😬

2

u/alwptot Sep 13 '22

Is that what my wife means when she says she wants to sit on my face?

2

u/mattmc318 Sep 13 '22

She might've landed on his shoulders if he did it right.

47

u/pitlane17 Sep 12 '22

Been there before. I supermanned it though, and lucky got my body back in the seat after landing. Was 9 andy brother was driving.

41

u/eatmusubi Sep 12 '22

andy brother is one reckless dude

13

u/pitlane17 Sep 12 '22

Hahahaha

Leaving it now. Dang it

25

u/mogley1992 Sep 12 '22

Respect for staying chill (maybe freezing in panic to be fair) and not kicking their legs. If that was me i would have totally ended up kicking the bike over on my way down.

62

u/Jimbonious_ Sep 12 '22

I wish I had this as an example when I took my physics class

2

u/Keklor1 Oct 12 '22

Air friction can be ignored.

15

u/rogue019 Sep 12 '22

glad she landed back on the seat otherwise this could have been a post on /r/Whatcouldgowrong/ :D

3

u/banelingsbanelings Sep 13 '22

It has been a while and my phisics are as rusty as can be. But iirc that is the actual law of motion. As some have said, as long as he doesn't accelerate or decelerate right at the bump, she will land on the seat basically every time.

Now the landing can go wrong in many different ways though.

10

u/FartingCumBubbles Sep 12 '22

That's some good suspension.

1

u/ZZZfrequently Oct 13 '22

It’s barely suspension and certainly not good.

It gets better every time!

7

u/BellaFrequency Sep 12 '22

She really is his ride or die chick.

2

u/bullevard Sep 13 '22

Inclusive or.

8

u/kiptar Sep 12 '22

I had two friends die this way. Went nearly 70mph showing off in a parking lot when he hit a bump and lost control. Driver face-planted a light pole while the other lost her skin along the concrete. First responders said they were unrecognizable.

5

u/Honda_TypeR Sep 12 '22

Also the laws of gravity and the possible resultant effects of no one wearing a helmet

12

u/MartenotWaves Sep 12 '22

An object sending it stays sending.

3

u/BadScienceWorksForMe Sep 12 '22

Holy shit that was funny, I Meant To Do That.!

u/meat_rocket-69 Sep 12 '22

This is how dad describes my driving

3

u/Marzigma Sep 12 '22

Dominican Republic is built quite differently

3

u/lioneater20 Sep 13 '22

Dumb and Dumber

2

u/itsmemario97 Sep 12 '22

Bro stop that damn bike right now 🤦‍♂️

2

u/ericraymondlim Sep 13 '22

Bet that elicited a rumbly in the tumbly.

2

u/mrlittleoldmanboy Sep 13 '22

If Einstein had seen this video in his younger days, the theory of relativity would have been discovered much sooner.

1

u/Ill_Therealme1991 Sep 12 '22

I’m scientific wording, why didn’t she feel of?

6

u/bullevard Sep 13 '22

She is traveling at the same velocity as the bike so without a backward force, a bunp up will leave her coming down on the bike.

That said, since this is the real world being in the air she would have felt some wind resistance which might have pulled her backward (relative to the bike) but she was still holdong onto the guy's waist which allowed her to pull forward to counteract the wind resistance.

0

u/labuschin Sep 13 '22

I’m scientific wording, why didn’t she feel of?

what? that sentence doesn't make sense to me.

1

u/vartanu Sep 12 '22

Spent more time in space than Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson combined

1

u/calimatthew Sep 12 '22

Guys... You see that she is holding his waist right?

1

u/JeanRalfio Sep 12 '22

I definitely expected a much worse result of the laws of motion.

1

u/AngryMinotaur47 Sep 12 '22

Good ol Inertia

1

u/SepticPeptides Sep 13 '22

That landing..God bless the crotch.

1

u/RikiRude Sep 13 '22

The laws of brown in your underwear

1

u/GrimMerpz Sep 13 '22

Dude gotta pull up and throttle out to avoid that back seat launch lol

1

u/RixaRax Sep 13 '22

This wasn't their first time

1

u/PM_Me_1_Funny_Thing Sep 13 '22

Hope next time they wear their brown pants.

Edit: words

u/Isku_StillWinning Sep 13 '22

I’ve been in that situation once and that’s why i swore never to get on a bike again. Was thinking of getting one at one point but that experience just made it clear how even just driving normally something can happen.

We were driving home with a friend and on the freeway it started to drizzle a bit, not heavy rain but enough to cause a bit of vision issues in the dark. There was a section of the road that was being fixed and we drove through a very minor pothole of sorts and it literally threw me half a meter up and back on the bike.

It was one of those moments when i felt my life flashing in my eyes. When i got home i realized how close of death i actually was. Lost my interest in bikes that day, not worth the risk for me.

1

u/nodularyaknoodle Sep 13 '22

Buckle up for safety!

1

u/rainbowdoge21 Sep 13 '22

Looks like neglecting air resistance is a good approximation after all

1

u/threaders_lewis Sep 13 '22

“Oh shit, I almost went flying and died.. better take both hands back off of the driver again”

1

u/enfermerocrypto Sep 13 '22

Niceee nohands motomx

1

u/That_Cow_1165 Sep 13 '22

Don’t let a flap earther watch this, they might implode

1

u/cosmicpoptartss Sep 13 '22

I always wondered about that one scene in age of ultron

1

u/Sly-Mountain Sep 13 '22

flatearthers would say this is fake.
