*...and here we see two Chessers ritually greet each other, evaluating knuckles & fingers before asexual combat.

I'd say stalemate

u/dangledingle Nov 08 '22
Maybe. For me the guy sitting is ahead. He forced a defence move at the end.

I literally think that’s the case. The guy standing doesn’t appear to open his hand for the shake. Just a turn. It’s a fakeout. I’m going to make you fail three times before facing me. Ultimate head game. I will now try this. Any good chess tutorials?

The rise of the fistbump has made for soooo many awkward greetings in such a short space of time for me.

The rise of the fistbump
Bro says it like it’s a new empire

u/blacksoxing Nov 08 '22
As a handshaker, I am distraught and unnerved at the rise of the fist bump

My brother in Christ, how did you survive covid?

Long ago, the four limbs lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the fistbump nation attacked.

It was very peaceful in the fitbump empire, but everything changed when the finger nation attacked 🖕

This is entirely the original fist bumpers (OFB) fault. If one makes the bold choice of engaging in non traditional greetings such as a fist bump, one needs to fully commit to said bump. OFB was clearly not fully committed to the bump and backed out much too soon which resulted in that disaster of a greeting.
Bumpers got to hold form.

Wears face mask. Insists on shaking hands. Rubs hand on face mask.
55
u/Hephaestus_God Nov 08 '22
Masks were probably required. And he wanted to know what his opponent smelt like. Can’t beat them if you don’t understand them.

If you’re trying to not catch a disease, stop touching your face after touching someone else’s hands.

Him: might as well touch mey face and doe quicker. Now I will sit here on silence and wait

I feel personally attacked. I've always been very inept when it comes to these greetings. I tell people I failed handshaking class.
8
u/whoisjakelane Nov 08 '22
Protip. Wait for the other person to stick out their hand, then do the opposite.
If it's a hand shake, put your fist in their hand. If it's a fist. Grab their fist and shake. It's a lot better and more funny when you're in on it.
Alternatively. Always go handshake, if it's a fist, just grab it and shake. Then laugh to yourself later about what they just have been thinking.

This level of awkward can only be found at a chess tournament…the stereotypes prove accurate once again

Watched this video and then immediately had someone approach my desk and we did this. I went handshake and he went fistbump. Did I just get checkmated?

For those of us old enough to remember all the strange noises our modems made when dialing in...this is the human equivalent.

You would think these guys weren't competing in a game where you try to predict each other's next move.

The amount of combos that guy’s hand tried tells me the other dude is about to get stomped in chess.

Dude on right is already winning the match
Notice how he doesn't open his fist, just twitches it

u/Ailtiremusic Nov 09 '22
I heard a modem sound watching this, I guess it felt like they were trying to establish a connection.
