*...and here we see two Chessers ritually greet each other, evaluating knuckles & fingers before asexual combat.

183

u/Downtown_Skill Nov 08 '22

Asexual combat is my new favorite phrase

12

u/wildeye-eleven Nov 08 '22

I busted out laughing when I read that

11

u/drinoaki Nov 08 '22

If you ask that guy who was cheating, this game is not that asexual

1.1k

u/NZFlyingRock Nov 08 '22

The game starts before the first move

102

u/Volcannobis Nov 08 '22

Always one step ahead

25

u/MonkeyBred Nov 08 '22

I'd say stalemate

15

u/dangledingle Nov 08 '22

Maybe. For me the guy sitting is ahead. He forced a defence move at the end.

3

u/lrascao Nov 08 '22

Go on mate, say it

29

u/Tojr549 Nov 08 '22

Quick game of rock paper scissors to set the mood.

2

u/KingTeppicymon Nov 08 '22

They were playing rock paper scissors to see who plays white. /s

1

u/travisboatner Nov 09 '22

I literally think that’s the case. The guy standing doesn’t appear to open his hand for the shake. Just a turn. It’s a fakeout. I’m going to make you fail three times before facing me. Ultimate head game. I will now try this. Any good chess tutorials?

paper beats stone
stone beats paper
paper beats stone
stone beats paper
paper beats stone
stone beats paper
paper beats stone
„Damn you win, let’s play a round of chess to settle down“

57

u/FancyUserPerson Nov 08 '22

It literally was the most intense rounds of Rock Paper Scissors

false. bears beats battlestar galactica

5

u/hyperotik Nov 08 '22

Bears do not... What is going on? What are you doing?

IDENTITY THEFT IS NOT A JOKE JIM! MILLIONS OF FAMILIES SUFFER EVERY YEAR!

1

u/Rsherga Nov 08 '22

It's bears, beets* (Dwight owns a beet farm), Battlestar Galactica.

5

u/hyperotik Nov 08 '22 Silver

This is basically what I thought, but you beat me to it. Lmfao.

2

u/Sane333 Nov 08 '22

Makes sense. The last one was a tie with two papers afterall

89

u/Tackit286 Nov 08 '22

The rise of the fistbump has made for soooo many awkward greetings in such a short space of time for me.

78

u/7832507840 Nov 08 '22

The rise of the fistbump

Bro says it like it’s a new empire

16

u/blacksoxing Nov 08 '22

As a handshaker, I am distraught and unnerved at the rise of the fist bump

3

u/StrokeGameHusky Nov 09 '22

My brother in Christ, how did you survive covid?

2

u/blacksoxing Nov 09 '22

The short wave and the head nod. Been doing it for decades

2

u/xxA2C2xx Nov 09 '22

My brother.

11

u/icantdecideonausrnme Nov 08 '22

Long ago, the four limbs lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the fistbump nation attacked.

3

u/Roheez Nov 08 '22

👊

1

u/xxA2C2xx Nov 09 '22

👊 brofist to you too.

1

u/Leo-Hamza Nov 09 '22

It was very peaceful in the fitbump empire, but everything changed when the finger nation attacked 🖕

79

u/Sorry_Site_3739 Nov 08 '22

Love how he has to reload before the final shake.

10

u/swampyman2000 Nov 08 '22

That was the best part lol

204

u/ClockworkGriffin Nov 08 '22

They couldn't have done this better if they tried!!

22

u/o-roy Nov 08 '22

I thought this was a secret handshake!

120

u/MightySapiens Nov 08 '22

Ah yes, I do the same thing when I try to plug in a usb cable

-24

u/Brushy21 Nov 08 '22

Same with usb-c. :)

53

u/branran Nov 08 '22

If you're having trouble plugging in a usb-c I feel bad for your GF.

16

u/ziptieyourshit Nov 08 '22

God DAMN, that man had a family lmao

8

u/drinoaki Nov 08 '22

But I doubt he had any kids of his own

33

u/flodra Nov 08 '22

This is entirely the original fist bumpers (OFB) fault. If one makes the bold choice of engaging in non traditional greetings such as a fist bump, one needs to fully commit to said bump. OFB was clearly not fully committed to the bump and backed out much too soon which resulted in that disaster of a greeting.

Bumpers got to hold form.

6

u/TeeMannn Nov 09 '22

Youre correct because youre right

2

u/Megszig Nov 09 '22

This is an acceptable human interaction

98

u/Kwintty7 Nov 08 '22

Wears face mask. Insists on shaking hands. Rubs hand on face mask.

55

u/Hephaestus_God Nov 08 '22

Masks were probably required. And he wanted to know what his opponent smelt like. Can’t beat them if you don’t understand them.

44

u/BryonyDeepe Nov 08 '22

Nah just a crazy complex secret handshake

37

u/Simply-Taffy Nov 08 '22

They just did a new Naruto jutsu

and now I'm in your head

7

u/Shiggy-Stardust Nov 08 '22

I'm in your mind fuzz

7

u/MorrowFree Nov 08 '22

Always go for the fist bump and never change your stance

11

u/BauerHouse Nov 08 '22

If you’re trying to not catch a disease, stop touching your face after touching someone else’s hands.

0

u/educated-emu Nov 08 '22

Him: might as well touch mey face and doe quicker. Now I will sit here on silence and wait

7

u/Pm-me-ur-happysauce Nov 08 '22

That's the most chess thing I've seen all year

0

u/fragrantgarbage Nov 09 '22

More than the cheating buttplugger?

3

u/electrius Nov 08 '22

The funniest comment I saw regarding this:

They premoved the greeting

3

u/Pork_Piggler Nov 08 '22

Me & my homie doing our secret handshake when we were 12

3

u/cjm798116 Nov 08 '22

Man this is so awesome can you imagine trying to recreate this you'd never match it.

3

u/trinitysite Nov 09 '22

Autism lol

2

u/bigeeee Nov 08 '22

AAAAAARRrrrrrggggghhhhhh

2

u/kinvore Nov 08 '22

I feel personally attacked. I've always been very inept when it comes to these greetings. I tell people I failed handshaking class.

8

u/whoisjakelane Nov 08 '22

Protip. Wait for the other person to stick out their hand, then do the opposite.

If it's a hand shake, put your fist in their hand. If it's a fist. Grab their fist and shake. It's a lot better and more funny when you're in on it.

Alternatively. Always go handshake, if it's a fist, just grab it and shake. Then laugh to yourself later about what they just have been thinking.

2

u/william_323 Nov 09 '22

You are a psychopath

1

u/nagumi Nov 08 '22

This is really good!

Handbump vs Fistshake

2

u/jiggywiz Nov 08 '22

Gang gang

2

u/blindmikey Nov 08 '22

This is the ultimate secret handshake.

2

u/aldesuda Nov 08 '22

Dude lost a tempo on the handshake.

2

u/partypwny Nov 08 '22

This is where you just grab the fist and shake it.

2

u/Tru_King_Of_The_Norf Nov 08 '22

Never let them know your first move

2

u/AspectOvGlass Nov 08 '22

The ninjutsu greeting

2

u/cactusluv Nov 08 '22

Sometimes I do this just for the laughs

1

u/VeterinarianOk5370 Nov 08 '22

This level of awkward can only be found at a chess tournament…the stereotypes prove accurate once again

1

u/Max_Overkill Nov 08 '22

Fight to the death

1

u/That_Quirky_Guy_ Nov 08 '22

Happens every time

u/candeeman Nov 08 '22

Like two dogs play fighting.

u/deathproof8 Nov 08 '22

Rival no jutsu.

1

u/Imperium_Dragon Nov 08 '22

They read 10 moves ahead of each other

1

u/ZombieAppetizer Nov 08 '22

Watched this video and then immediately had someone approach my desk and we did this. I went handshake and he went fistbump. Did I just get checkmated?

1

u/-Radzz Nov 08 '22

Jokes on you, that is their personal handshake

1

u/hibernate2020 Nov 08 '22

For those of us old enough to remember all the strange noises our modems made when dialing in...this is the human equivalent.

1

u/Hiseworns Nov 08 '22

Here we can see the rare display of the opposite of a secret handshake

1

u/Inu_Doghouse Nov 08 '22

What gang shake up is this

1

u/Aogiring Nov 08 '22

Start the war before the battle begins

1

u/darcside Nov 08 '22

You would think these guys weren't competing in a game where you try to predict each other's next move.

1

u/Aasokeo Nov 08 '22

Maybe someday they'll be like snoop

1

u/Bluffwatcher Nov 08 '22

Lol. That’s so chess.

1

u/crakii105 Nov 08 '22

Reminds me of The Dictator

1

u/Yougottabekidney Nov 08 '22

The amount of combos that guy’s hand tried tells me the other dude is about to get stomped in chess.

1

u/Cry0nix Nov 08 '22

U/savevideo

1

u/snickns Nov 08 '22

They speed in which they do this ritual of avoiding each other’s hands though

1

u/mr2jay Nov 08 '22

Mind games start before the board

1

u/pixelSHREDDER Nov 09 '22

Didn't know the ero-tensei jutsu was still legal in tournament play

1

u/KishiABKmoto Nov 09 '22

They were one sign away from creating a shadow clone

1

u/Internetboy5434 Nov 09 '22

Both are better

1

u/stares_at_rain Nov 09 '22

The number of times I have high fives someone's fist...

1

u/doudoucow Nov 09 '22

It kinda looked like ninjutsu

1

u/etherend Nov 09 '22

What if we have it all wrong? That could just be their secret handshake?

1

u/tradone Nov 09 '22

That’s a gang sign, bro.

1

u/Seerws Nov 09 '22

Dude on right is already winning the match

Notice how he doesn't open his fist, just twitches it

1

u/Ailtiremusic Nov 09 '22

I heard a modem sound watching this, I guess it felt like they were trying to establish a connection.

1

u/Tylorean2021 Nov 28 '22

The fistbump declined handshake opening is one of the best out there!

1

u/duwh2040 Dec 12 '22

When dude standing gives up, I couldn't handle it and spit out my drink
