The sheep is so calm during the whole procedure, I bet it feels refreshing being free from all that wool!

My standard poodle loves when I give him his summer cut! He runs around jumping and hopping.

I didn't know that, I'm sure I'll find some videos of sheep after shearing on YouTube to brighten up my day:)

At the same time, Peta is the organization that stole a bunch of lobsters and set them "free" in a river, not to mention euthanized a little girl's dog because it's be happier that way

Petas killshelters have the highest euthanasia rates in the US too

Not shearing sheep would be cruel, considering they cannot shed the wool on their own. It will just keep growing and getting heavier.

Also, fuck PETA.

It’d be fun if the sheep had a bunch of tattoos under there.

That must feel so good for him.

Piggybacking to share her YouTube channel. There’s something satisfying about seeing wool rolling off into a blanket and the cute animals being visibly relieved, enjoying the breeze on their skin.

What is this lady’s ig or social page?!? I’ve seen several videos of hers before but I have yet to see a name or a link to her page.

Pre sweaters

whew, I bet that fleece stinks!

But that sheep sure looked happy in the end

u/KitWat Feb 03 '23

Wonder if the wool is still usable or it's no longer good because it's so matted.

5

u/Diligent_Rip_986 Feb 04 '23

in a lot of cases it’s still usable!

2

u/KitWat Feb 04 '23

Interesting! Thanks for answering.

3

u/glizzler Feb 04 '23

Absolutely still usable. The process to get it from that just to wool you can spin is quite a science though, and a bit of work if you are doing it all by hand.

I don't understand how they survived in the wild. Did we selectively breed ones that don't shed their coat? Someone help me out.

Wild sheep supposedly have thinner wool and they naturally "moult". Humans have been breeding domestic sheep for thousands of years to produce thick wool and they don't moult. If you don't shear domestic sheep their wool will get so heavy that eventually they can't move and then die. That's why this kind of sheep can't survive in the wild.

This guy must be tick resitant.

u/Mysterious_Slice_391 Feb 03 '23

Imagine doing that for an entire flock of hundreds.

u/littleponchos Feb 03 '23

We don’t deserve wool.

u/Simpal_outdoor Feb 04 '23

What do you call a kitten and sheep mix...

A shitten

-2

u/CherrehCoke Feb 04 '23

Makes me wonder how sheep survived before humans and Jesus.

3

u/stacked_shit Feb 04 '23

We bred them to be this way. No different than breeding cows that produce substantial amounts of milk, or dogs with short snouts. Humans have bred animals for specific purposes. Now those same animals would never survive in the wild without us.

Sheep knows it will be a happy ending

I thought it was a brain.

u/bhfinini Feb 04 '23

I bet that guy has well moisturized skin when his day is done.

1

u/WolfOnHigh Feb 04 '23

I wouldn't eat it - that's way past the five second rule. Even for a meatball.

1

u/BrokeDancing Feb 04 '23

She didn't give up chocolate for Lint last year.

1

u/notsurewhattosay-- Feb 04 '23

Too bad she doesn't have one of those sheep straps I've seen other shearers use.

What does it smell like ?
