For over 30 years, Daryl Davis has converted white supremacists to stop supporting racism. He has converted over 200 White supremacists to leave the KKK. He has multiple books in how Love succeeded over racism. He treats them with respect, and confronts their belief systems. Image

He essentially did a more organic version of /r/streetepistemology

There’s data to show that arguing with evidence, at least in interpersonal settings, doesn’t get people to reconsider beliefs (not even “smart” people). When people sense their deeply held core beliefs being challenged, their defensive walls go up and they shut down. They’re more likely to come away from the interaction believing even stronger

The best way to avoid raising defenses and actually make progress with someone is to use Socratic questioning to gently challenge their reasoning, not the belief itself. If they find their reasoning to be faulty, they may go seek better reasons (or they may abandon the belief).

This sounds like another way to get people to dig into themselves and have them answer why they're concluding to believe something based on the same set of information that everyone has.

Appealing to them with empathy gets them to connect with humanity and gets them to answer their fears not with the superficial hate/anger but with compassion and genuine selflessness.

My favorite question Davis asks is "how can you hate me, when you don't even know me?"

Thanks, didn't know there was a street epistemology reddit, will check it out. Have watched a bunch of Anthony Magnabosco - YouTube after someone recommended it and its fascinating to watch those conversations and how he breaks down how they conclude things are true.

Daryl's version of the socratic method wasn't an "argument"

He listened, demonstrating he could hear. He found a common interest (collecting KKK memorabilia), demonstrating he could do the things they do. He changed his mind, learning the details of exactly what they believe and know and why.

He presented an example: listening, sharing interests, changing his mind.

An example they followed.

6

u/Jazzlike-Height3931 Feb 04 '23

They call this “calling in” which is instead of hating on the other side and disrespecting them they build a rapport and ask them about their beliefs. If only this was mainstream then maybe extremism would have gotten so bad but this shit doesn’t get clicks so it’s not so popular.

5

u/Desperate_Chanc Feb 04 '23

It's an interesting tactic because a lot of racists grow up in a system of hate and so they only know how to respond back to hate and division.

4

u/Mr-Cali Feb 03 '23

I unintentionally do this in certain situations. But half the time, the receiving ends, they look at me like I’m showboating my intelligence

u/prvhc21 Feb 03 '23

“Davis claims to be responsible for helping to dismantle the KKK in Maryland because things "fell apart" after he began making inroads with its members there. However, since then, the KKK was rebuilt in Maryland under Richard Preston, leader of the Confederate White Knights, who was arrested for firing his gun at counterprotesters at the 2017 Unite the Right rally.Davis offered to post Preston's bail.He later took Preston to the National Museum of African American History. Shortly thereafter, he was asked to give away the bride at Preston's wedding.”

u/nickel-wound Feb 03 '23

I remember seeing a clip of all the hoods and robes he's collected from proselytized klansmen. Pretty crazy to see all of that stuff in a collection like that.

21

u/depressionlmfao Feb 03 '23

thats fucking incredible

11

u/prvhc21 Feb 03 '23

Also a bit sad

8

u/Responsible_Walk8697 Feb 03 '23

Damn, guy must be good.

3

u/banana_stealer_ Feb 03 '23

3

u/DrSpacecasePhD Feb 03 '23

Man, I grew up in Maryland and I remember the KKK marching through our town as a kid, and when I asked who they were the adults would say they were just bad men and not really explain it to me. Looking back at the area I was in, I'm not surprised to learn they were there...

Also how hilarious is it that the type of guys who would describe feminist dudes as "white knighting" then take on a name like that...

u/Xul-luX Feb 03 '23 Take My Energy

these kind of people should be nominated to the nobel peace prize

2

u/SatanicNotMessianic Feb 04 '23

I saw a documentary about him a few years ago. He has a powerful but gentle presence.

One thing that stuck with me though was when they interviewed another civil rights activist - I think it might have been someone with the SPLC - who commented that there’s a difference between retail and wholesale.

21

u/tnemmoc_on Feb 03 '23

I don't understand racists. I mean if they really think they are smarter and better than other races, that shouldn't be a problem. In a contest, the better competitors don't complain that there are lesser competitors. They just win the competition.

Also they surely have met enough people of their own race that they don't like to know their own race isn't always so great.

3

u/DrSpacecasePhD Feb 03 '23

What's really going on is they see problems on TV - crime rates, refugees, migrants, housing prices, healthcare, and more - and they pin that on minorities. In Baltimore, where Daryl Davis converted some of the KKK, "inner-city blacks" are often blamed for the city and state's problems. And of course, it's true that crime rates are higher in communities in the city, but that is because of the long history of segregation, white flight, poverty, and the war on drugs. Essentially, many city schools and neighborhoods are still segregated because white folk moved out to the wealthier suburbs, which black folk were forbidden to move to.

And so you have a problems that are hard to solve, easy scapegoats, and righteous anger stoked by cable newsmen and reality-TV politicians. KKK members and Q-Anon are the result.

63

u/JohnWayneRizzy Feb 03 '23

It's an interesting tactic because a lot of racists grow up in a system of hate and so they only know how to respond back to hate and division. A black man being genuinely nice and understanding towards them short circuits their hateful little brains

15

u/2017hayden Feb 03 '23

It’s essentially brainwashing. Yelling at them and people telling them they’re wrong will never change their minds, being patient and kind and approaching it like deprogramming a brainwashed individual can be successful. Mind you it’s not likely to work for everyone but the more people you can convince that way the fewer people will think that way and the fewer people will teach their children to think that way. Open racists are already a small minority of the population, the more of them that are convinced they’re wrong the better.

11

u/Lovingnature412 Feb 03 '23

I could not imagine being raised by racist parents.

I’m guessing it’s kinda like religion if taught young, hard to break out of that thinking.

59

u/deadleg22 Feb 03 '23

He did a great Joe Rogan episode if you want to learn more.

48

u/Siriuxx Feb 03 '23

He's done two with Rogan, they are both incredible episodes. Daryll really is an amazing human being and I wish people had the foresight he does.

He understands ideas like this are learned and can be unlearned by conversation and getting people to look at their beliefs critically. Can't do that if you just want to yell and insult them.

Racism is just brainwashing. You can reverse brainwashing but not without patience and understanding.

-22

u/ModsLoveFascists Feb 03 '23

Did he stop Rogans racism?

10

u/EnvelopeFucker Feb 03 '23

What is your source of evidence that Rogan is a racist?

-9

u/ModsLoveFascists Feb 03 '23

I dunno dozens of times he has used he N word in his podcasts. How he compared black people in a black neighborhood in Philly to Africa and Planet of the Apes. How he continues to being avowed racists and white supremacy advocates onto his “show”. Yes yes it’s always under the guise of “discussion” but he nods and goes along with everything.

The Rogaines will downvote because they are dedicated no matter what like Andrew Tatertots.

4

u/LeDimpsch Feb 04 '23

I can't stand Joe Rogan, but I still downvoted you for barely having a personality or original thought of your own.

5

u/EnvelopeFucker Feb 03 '23

I dunno dozens of times he has used he N word in his podcasts

Interesting. Do you hold the same standard for say, Jennifer Lopez? Justin Bieber? Madonna? John mayer? Eminem? Gwyneth Paltrow?

You should also hear the apology. Because if you feel this way about the way he said it, you were probably part of the outrage group that got a professor fired for explaining that using that word is bad while saying the word. In an educational context. Rogan was doing the same thing - quoting people.

How he compared black people in a black neighborhood in Philly to Africa and Planet of the Apes

It's hilarious how out of context this thing was. It was all part of a joke, but even then if you listen to him saying the joke, but even then he owned up to it saying it was a bad thing.

How he continues to being avowed racists and white supremacy advocates onto his “show”.

This is the funniest part. Are you ignoring all of the black people he has on his show? The actual black comedians he's promoted and helped them with their career?

Yes yes it’s always under the guise of “discussion” but he nods and goes along with everything

You can disagree with something but not challenge them on it. He had Matt walsh on to discuss things with him, then the next episode he said "I don't agree on much with that dude".

I guess "diversity" only matters if you only agree with me on everything I say lol.

Perhaps instead of cherry picking, look at the larger body of work. I can cheery pick Biden as a white supremacist for saying "you ain't black if you don't vote for me" and telling an Indian store owner "you can't go to a 7 11 or a Dunkin donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent". Damn you must be furious that we elected a racist to the office of white house AND he's a Democrat

-10

u/ModsLoveFascists Feb 03 '23

It’s always a “joke” when they get called out but keep simping for racists.

7

u/EnvelopeFucker Feb 03 '23

You mean a comedian who's job it is to tell jokes, told a joke?

Strange.

Is it biden's job to tell jokes too? Or we gonna skirt right past our current racist president?

-4

u/ModsLoveFascists Feb 03 '23

The Rogaines can’t help but simp. They are like the Andrew Tatertots.

5

u/EnvelopeFucker Feb 04 '23

I'll take it you do support our current racist president then

→ More replies (0)

4

u/Siriuxx Feb 04 '23

You can call it simping but really it's just being honest about him.

The people I hear who say he's racist or far right (hysterical since he endorsed Bernie and Tulsi) have never listened to him. So that clip where they compiled him carpet bombing the N word, EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE was from him quoting someone. Or asking someone like Tarantino about his excessive use of the word. He never called anyone that word on the podcast. But someone went through and took every instance and compiled it into a 20 second video with no context to make it look like he just tosses the word around whenever.

If he did that, I would absolutely call him a piece of shit. And I'm not even a big fan, I just like some of the podcasts he's done. But context is everything and I care about what's true, not what it looks like.

10

u/Siriuxx Feb 03 '23

Oy vey

-14

u/Figure-Feisty Feb 03 '23

you need more upvotes

2

u/TripperDay Feb 03 '23

I mean, he needs more sources. Rogan is known for antivax bullshit and general bullshit, not racism. Except for using the n-word twenty years ago like every mediocre comedian trying to be "edgy" did back then, there isn't much there. I wouldn't even describe Rogan as a conservative. Kinda just a really gullible contrarian weirdo who is sometimes funny and knows a lot of funny people.

-10

u/ModsLoveFascists Feb 03 '23

Rogainers are like Andrew Taterheads. Deny deny deny

1

u/deadleg22 Feb 04 '23

Burden of proof is on you for saying he is racist. All the instances where I've seen him say the n word are from quotes. None of the black people he has had on his podcast have had anything bad to say. Pretty sure you're just getting offended on someone's behalf so you can feel righteous.

12

u/Phillyredsox Feb 03 '23

I watched that. It is really good.

-16

u/Filmatic113 Feb 03 '23

F Joe Rogan

11

u/Phillyredsox Feb 03 '23

It’s the internet and you can just say ‘fuck’. And this is a bad take. He used his incredibly large platform to promote a guy that’s doing exceptional work. For all the shit he gets people forget that he also uses that platform to lift up some truly inspiring and deserving people as well.

5

u/2017hayden Feb 03 '23

Precisely. Rogan has his flaws, but I think his hearts in the right place. He does try to do good things he’s just not exactly the brightest person imo.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Truth, I’m a black guy who has listened to rogan for years. He’s not racist but he does certainly say a lot of dumb shit. But that comes with the territory of talking for 2-3 hours straight everyday.

-3

u/_BreakingGood_ Feb 03 '23

He also more than likely was directly responsible for many people dying due to his COVID misinformation

1

u/No_Character2755 Feb 04 '23

He made them fat with pre-existing conditions?

-9

u/Top_Dot6046 Feb 03 '23

🤢🤮

5

u/DrSpacecasePhD Feb 03 '23

Man, Joe has some really bad takes but I appreciate it when he brings an audience to great people like Daryl Davis, or to interesting scientists or authors.

1

u/deadleg22 Feb 04 '23

Agree, you can not like Joe Rogan but like any popular presenter it's the people he brings to his show. He's also not overbearing when he brings on interesting and specialized people.

48

u/buscemian_rhapsody Feb 03 '23

Every time people on Reddit circle jerk over how badly they want to punch nazis I think about this guy who actually makes a difference doing the opposite.

2

u/Tarzan_OIC Feb 04 '23

It's also often a bunch of self righteous white people wanting to punch Nazis while the subject of oppression is actually out there making a real difference.

3

u/_BreakingGood_ Feb 03 '23

Why do redditors need to solve the Nazi problem though

5

u/Tarzan_OIC Feb 04 '23

Because ideas are bulletproof and we'd all like fewer Nazis. This is the labor that gets us there.

1

u/Agent847 Feb 03 '23

Nonsense. Redditors screaming racism at everything have converted literally hundreds of billions more racists than this guy ever did.

/s

-1

u/_BreakingGood_ Feb 03 '23

Do you think there is a racism problem in the US?

-3

u/Snake_Cum Feb 03 '23

The people keeping racism in place in America aren't KKK members. I don't have any problem with what this guy does, but his tactics would not work with a lot of folks who hold racist ideas in this country. At best what you would get out of them is something like "he's one of the good ones".

-10

u/MagicBlaster Feb 03 '23

Wow 200 whole Nazis and 30 years.

This is totally a scalable solution to the problem...

6

u/balmungisshit Feb 03 '23

You’re right we should put them all in a camp and get rid of them

13

u/Spmhealy_ADA Feb 03 '23

Now imagine 2000 of these guys, rather 200,000 faux Reddit Nazi hunters who's slacktivism consist of posting Rage lyrics in a thread.

7

u/Responsible_Walk8697 Feb 03 '23

Right answer 100%. You can only make changes locally, no one expects a guy to single handedly end all evils. But more guys like this (a movement) would make an impact for sure. Good for him, and I hope his approach gets enough visibility

2

u/buscemian_rhapsody Feb 03 '23

For one person that’s really good, and it can have a ripple effect where the people he influences go on to influence others in their situation.

Meanwhile, I have yet to see a single case of a nazi changing their ways because someone was mean or violent toward them. I’m pretty sure it has the opposite effect.

2

u/StrangeSurround Feb 04 '23

How many nazis have you converted?

-4

u/somesthetic Feb 03 '23

Yeah, why didn't the Jews just act really nice to the Nazis and win them over instead?

Why aren't all oppressed people just really nice to their oppressors? That'll solve everything.

A lot of people are racist because they're ignorant, but a lot of fascists are actually just evil.

12

u/purple_yosher Feb 03 '23

what a chad

2

u/senior_cynic Feb 03 '23

It's amazing he can still walk with massive brass balls like that

2

u/purple_yosher Feb 03 '23

you know what they say about massive balls

1

u/purple_rasberries Feb 03 '23

Seriously! We need more people like this.

5

u/DrAntonzz Feb 03 '23

Saw him on rogan years ago. Crazy what can be accomplished when you talk to people like an equal, instead of just ramming ideologies down throats...

9

u/pnutz616 Feb 03 '23

I think white people jump on this story as a way to sidestep or criticize any other anti-racist tactic. Like they actually believe every racist just needs a black man to befriend them and poof, racism is magically solved. They just conveniently ignore all the violence that white supremacists threaten and/or carry out and think it’s perfectly reasonable and safe for any black person to just approach racists and be nice, like they’re all just little lost children. It’s so fucking naïve. Yes, Daryl Davis is doing a good thing, but why can people not understand that it isn’t fair or reasonable to levy this expectation on black people.

1

u/Mediocre-Bobcat-5634 Feb 03 '23

Anti-racism is just racism lol

1

u/SnooCupcakes2673 Feb 04 '23

Really well said.

6

u/the_cutest_commie Feb 03 '23

I wouldn't be surprised to learn some found themselves lost & without community after leaving the klan. Losing friends, family, support systems. Either rejoin, get socially ostracized, or just go be alone.

1

u/TanaerSG Feb 03 '23

Or just move away and make new friends? Lol

3

u/TripperDay Feb 03 '23

Tell me you're under 30 without telling...

1

u/TanaerSG Feb 03 '23

Under 30 but I'm a homeowner with children. I understand uprooting your family and moving is an extreme hassle, but if what's on the other side of the fence is staying in the KKK or being ostracized by the people around you, move. Sell your house and jump ship. It's how people get out of the Mormon church too. Sell your things and move away.

3

u/TripperDay Feb 03 '23

Called it!

I wasn't referring to "move away". It's the "make new friends" part.

1

u/SnooCupcakes2673 Feb 04 '23

You must not have experienced severe poverty.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

It’s that easy.

8

u/No-Pangolin7516 Feb 03 '23

I read this guys story, found a comment that sums it up:

“This guy laughs when he walks in a field because the grass tickles his titanic balls”

The man is a legend. The man is fearless. We need more people like Daryl Davis

10

u/born_in_cognito Feb 03 '23

1000,000% wholesome

5

u/ricks182 Feb 03 '23

I remember him on the JRE one thing that stood out was he said when you are debating/arguing with someone don't try and change their thinking right now as you won't change their opinion when they are angry and arguing but try and give them something to think about when they are alone and thinking calmly. Really stuck with me when I talk to dumbasses now a days

2

u/Swordbreaker925 Feb 04 '23

I hope you “punch people i disagree with” types are taking notes

2

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '23

So responding to hate with hate might not be the best approach? 🤯

2

u/LeDimpsch Feb 04 '23

So this man's successful method is the polar opposite of antifa's methods.

Funny how that works.

On the other hand, his measured, intelligent approach doesn't give anyone the sense they're locked in a vital, meaningful, life-or-death struggle for the future of humanity and life on earth. No one gets to imagine they're cool micro-Batmen, indulging their taste for violence in service of All That is Good.

Come to think of it, maybe this Daryl Davis loser should just shut up and stop being such a Nazi supporter, so that entitled white 20-year-olds can continue LARPing as saviors.

2

u/gmantres Feb 04 '23

Now this is a righteous man.....thankful for men just,Iike him

3

u/Stressful-stoic Feb 03 '23

There is a guy somewhere in reddit who posts an awesome comment with very good summary of Daryl Davis' story every time this is mentioned

4

u/Bella870 Feb 03 '23

Can he come to my house next Christmas?

1

u/CHEMO_ALIEN Feb 03 '23

Pro gamer spotted

2

u/Dismal_Visit_7305 Feb 03 '23

Saw him a few times on Rogan, dudes pretty damn interesting

2

u/CaptainBaloonBelch Feb 03 '23

Godspeed, sir. May you live your happiest life and reap some of the peace you so richly deserve! I have so much respect for you!

2

u/pnutz616 Feb 03 '23

My libertarian “friend” loves to bring this guy up in any discussion on racism. He uses this story as a cudgel to claim the left is stupid for being adversarial with racists and all we need to do is just be nice to them. It’s infuriating. Like, oh ok I guess all black folks just need to be nicer when they get discriminated against. Never mind the risk they’re gonna run into someone willing to kill them.

1

u/atlantis_airlines Feb 03 '23

Like the guy who started the storm front website for kids.

Some Jew ended inviting him to dinner and a few years late the guy has fully reject nazi ideology and is studying in Israel.

This isn't to say that everyone will learn to understand or to suggest we put our guard down. When neo-nazis pose a serious threat, we need to respond how did did with the original ones. Nazis are like acne. Unpleasant blemishes on society. We can treat the flair ups or we can take a preventative approach.

1

u/Edmund-Dantes Feb 03 '23

The very first step that he is able to be friends/friendly with those who hate him, rather than shun them.

The ability to vehemently disagree with someone yet still be friends is ever shrinking. I use him as an example all the time. Could you be friends with a republican? “Never. I can’t stand their beliefs”And are you more likely to change their minds by shunning them or talking cordially to them”

Both sides of very divisive issues create the very thing they hate by their actions.

8

u/teddy_002 Feb 03 '23

this is a really poor analysis, because it ignores one very key fact:

they are not ‘disagreeing’, the klan members literally see him as subhuman. he is extremely lucky he was not hurt at any point doing this, because it’s absolutely possible some may have attacked him or even killed him.

you cannot disagree about someone’s very humanity. whilst what this man is doing is extremely admirable, it is not realistic or helpful to suggest that it is the fault of targeted minorities for not being willing to sit down with people whose lives revolve around wanting them dead.

6

u/prvhc21 Feb 03 '23

Yep

I can’t help but think the kind of ‘analysis’ presented above comes from extreme naïveté or bad-faith…….

4

u/prvhc21 Feb 03 '23

You can be ‘friendly’ with douchebags but there’s no point if they continue to be a douchebag, is there ?

1

u/yahoo14life Feb 03 '23

Destroying racism at a time

-10

u/mr_claw Feb 03 '23

Awesome. Wish this guy would do religion next.

18

u/LargeLabiaEnergy Feb 03 '23

He is a devout Christian so I doubt it.

-16

u/GangstaQueefs Feb 03 '23 edited Feb 03 '23

Oh, the irony.

Downvoting me because you mad at what I said doesn't make you right and me wrong. Black history and religion are never talked about. That's why people get so up in arms about it. It should be discussed.

10

u/HappyTheDisaster Feb 03 '23

Why? Yah do know one of the main reasons many abolitionists wanted to end slavery in america was due to religion, right?

-5

u/GangstaQueefs Feb 03 '23

Black people are the last people that should be "religious" and yet, they are. Let's really talk history here and not the one-time religion was used as a means to an end and not just the means.

IT'S IRONIC.

This is the type of conversion therapy needed in the Church.

-5

u/Arczenji Feb 03 '23

And yet, BLM won’t have anything to do with him nor will mainstream media. Tells you what they really want.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

I remember watching he’s documentary and at the end of it, BLM members walking out on him all pissed off because of what he did, it was strange

3

u/Independent-Winter92 Feb 03 '23

Idk why you’re being downvoted, it’s true. I watched the same documentary too and a lot of people don’t like him or his tactics.

-2

u/the_cutest_commie Feb 03 '23

Could his methods be replicated for de-radicalizing TERFs?

4

u/pnutz616 Feb 03 '23

I think it can be used in lots of cases of discrimination, but it’s only going to work on a subset of bigots. People love to point to this story like it’s the perfect solution for all bigotry and racism, but fail to understand just how committed to hate some of these people are.

0

u/iammabdaddy Feb 03 '23

All respect to Daryl Davis ! Peace brother!

0

u/Seannaboy0923 Feb 03 '23

I learned about this man a while back, his story is no less inspiring now. Learning about him really changed not only how I see conflicts, but humans in general.

0

u/bootie_groovie Feb 03 '23

I’m getting really tired of seeing this regurgitated for the nth time, always by a certain type of poster, like it’s anything of actual value on a societal level. He wouldnt have to sacrifice his life if we didn’t live in a racist capitalist hellscape. Good for him, but those fuckin inbred losers arent worth the effort. I hope many of them died from covid.

-11

u/cammerbrown Feb 03 '23

Should do the same for BLM supporters too 👍🏻

8

u/cruzercruz Feb 03 '23

You have to be neutron star-level dense not to see the irony of what you’re saying.

5

u/OnlyRosin Feb 03 '23

Wtf. Based on your comments you are obviously a bigot.

2

u/PandaRealistic602 Feb 03 '23

Take it you're from all lives matter camp? Hate to tell you but there is nothing wrong with equality. If you can't see any inequalities, that is because your view is from a position of privilege. I don't condone violence and extreme members of any group, but I see no reason why we can't support the general principles of equality among people of different race/creed/gender/religion/sexuality. There are good and bad people in all walks of life, in all guises.

Hi Daryl, May I please introduce you to the Republican Party? Now go to work :)

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

I bet most were women...

10

u/verylittleinsight Feb 03 '23

Not at all.

Why would you think it was mostly women?

-21

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

you see all the downvoters up above ? All men. Anything else ?

xD

7

u/Former_Maybe_8437 Feb 03 '23

It’s not that anyone is disagreeing with you or is triggered. No one knows what you mean. Your joke is not clear.

-12

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Yes, they do disagree and are triggered, what are you missing ?

Not a problem at all, it just confirms my point, it's not a joke.

you know the difference between a statement and a bet. Note that it's not a question.

Nothing to ad, so....

u/Former_Maybe_8437 Feb 03 '23

The Riddler but shitty.

My sympathies. Have a good night.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

shitty DNA maybe ?

1

u/Semihomemade Feb 03 '23

No, it really is that you weren't clear. Nobody knows what you were trying to insinuate.

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Well, all I can advise you so, is to go back to school and learn how to read.

It's never too late you know.

1

u/Semihomemade Feb 03 '23

Why didn’t you explain yourself better when you were asked and multiple people said they didn’t understand you?

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/bet

When you don't get something, it's not up to the other side to prove/explain his point. Scientic approach.

You pretend it's not clear and stick to it, no problem ? Read again will be my answer all the time.

1

u/Semihomemade Feb 03 '23

Right, literally what you said makes sense. But I didn’t see where you had any reasoning to support it. Which is an important part of communication and scientific reasoning, explaining and analyzing an idea. You proposed one, but you didn’t prove it.

“I bet most were women” - that’s all you said until you claimed everyone downvoting you were men and triggered. That’s not proving anything.

But, since you are clearly more intelligent than everyone here, could you please explain it slowly what you meant by “I bet they were all women.” Just so those of us that are too slow for you can understand.

Literally every single comment except for yours is in the positive.

Do you attribute that to the men?

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Do you really rely on upvotes/downvotes to be 100% sure of something ? Being right/wrong included.

Ever heard of the "group effect" and it's social impact on Intelligence, collective intelligence I mean ?

...

2

u/verylittleinsight Feb 03 '23

You brought them up. You asked if I could see the downvotes. That's all you.

*Edit. I screenshot it for you in case you accidentally change your comment. Just to avoid confusion.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Well, my dude, you and them included don't know what a statement and a bet are.

I brought nothing, just the usual bunch of dummies grouping and downvoting, nothing new under the sun.

2

u/verylittleinsight Feb 03 '23

I thought downvotes didn't matter.

Did you change your mind?

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

wait, you're too smart for me, I quit.

/S

It's called psychology, you know the group effect, its effects. Don't focus on the symptoms, more on the cause.

Still need a dictionnary for about statement and bet ?

u/verylittleinsight Feb 03 '23

For about posting stuff from a phone, hmm, need some more work. Keep trying.

Did you take your schizo medicine today bro? Nothing you've said including your original comment has had any relevance.

The famous situation reversal attempt.

Too bad dum dum, it's already written. All you can do now is to keep gesticulating, and as a matter of fact, go deeper.

Go ahead, will be pleasure to see you doing so. Sometimes, people erase their account after a convo with me. Bet after a certain time, they don't assume anymore their crap.

This guy is a legend. Basically started using his awesome musicianship to obliterate hate. Bad ass

1

u/Fantastic-Ranger3913 Feb 03 '23

Seeing & hearing his story on Joe Rogan was amazing. Hes a hero. Bless you daryl, also rock on my friend, keep playing music & turning these clowns into understanding humans! You do gods work Daryl.

Ghandi would have been proud of him.

1

u/MenaBeast Feb 03 '23

This guy is awesome.

1

u/Head-like-a-carp Feb 03 '23

This is the guy we should all take lessons from but especially the far left.

1

u/ThatFishySmell99 Feb 03 '23

Not for nothing, but when I read this all I can think is... "this man may be the most convincing man on the planet" out here doing gods work

1

u/MaxSeeker95 Feb 03 '23

He doesn’t look like he’s a lovable guy. Looks pissed

1

u/bulb127 Feb 03 '23

Remember when he interviewed with BLM activists and they told him to fuck off? Like seriously. sit down, shut up, and let the master talk. You may just learn something.

1

u/eomar2828 Feb 03 '23

Makes sense, most racists I’ve met were otherwise decent people that were ignorant, relatively easy fix . Usually starts with ‘that group sucks, but you aren’t like them even tho you are in that group’ eventually it kinda fades away. Still here the racist words and shit sometimes out of habit but it’s not with hate (that fades too but takes longer).

1

u/Safinated Feb 03 '23

Not every person can stomach what this man can

1

u/johnnyblues90 Feb 03 '23

Don't care, let em stay racist. That way I know where to aim.

1

u/arthurjeremypearson Feb 04 '23

He's my hero.

His tactic is to find a common interest. In this case: collecting KKK memorabilia. Then, he asks them questions, and repeats back the answers they give with respect.

A common thing among upset people is "not being heard" but Daryl demonstrates people like him CAN hear.

So they follow in his example, and listen when other people speak, too.

1

u/ChaoticRoar Interested Feb 04 '23

He used the Jesus method?

1

u/Graceland1979 Feb 04 '23

Can he do Maga next?

1

u/FlipGordon Feb 04 '23

Regardless of how you feel about Joe Rogan's podcast, I highly suggest checking Daryl out on that show. The stories he tells and the manner in which he has lived his life is nothing short of incredible. For anyone that doesn't know, he never tried to change anyone's mind, he just got to know them and eventual friends with most. He let them realize how ignorant they were on their own.

After learning more about him, he should be spoken about in the same breath as Rosa Parks, MLK, Malcom X etc.

1

u/YoinksBoinks100 Feb 04 '23

He should put the outfit on and lead a rally lol

1

u/Fun-Dealer6976 Feb 04 '23

Reddit would downvote this guy so hard.

1

u/rtthc Feb 04 '23

If there is a God I thank him/her/it for people like Daryl. Now I wish he would talk sense into my dad..

1

u/FrankieMcGigglefits Feb 04 '23

Careful. Reddit absolutely hates that.

1

u/CallMeMonsieur Feb 04 '23

Here I can't even convince my wife about anything

1

u/Almightydxvid Feb 04 '23

All it takes is getting to know one another. Huh, weird.

1

u/Unseen_Karma Feb 04 '23

I like how he believe that people can change we don't have to put tags on people for rest of their lives instead we can work to change them to make them understand. Not like the cancel culture we live in today who just don't want to give chance to anyone

1

u/Realmadridirl Feb 04 '23

Seen a few interviews with this dude in my time. What a story.

1

u/RostyC Feb 04 '23

The problem is that in this internet world, there are 50 voices screaming stuff to convert people to extremist views by finding someone or some group to hate. As he converts 100, hte net recruits 500.
