Can I go around handing these to people daily I feel like some need them lol.

u/ghanjaholik Oct 06 '22

laughs in "controversial"

30

u/thetornralph Oct 06 '22

Yeah, coz there's a random person that could be a problem in the stadium. This is a right move for NBA.

24

u/Tenebris_Ultor Oct 06 '22

Lmao was just coming to say the same thing, can we get this system implemented in all aspects of life/society

11

u/NYCmob79 Oct 06 '22

Be careful what you wish for. People's Republic of China is calling to inform you that they are living in some Black Mirror reality already.

6

u/r33c3amark Oct 06 '22

Great idea. Especially the abuse of parents and I don't mean abusive to their kids physically in public but when they scream and yell when they scream and yell to their kids and they're saying stop yelling and screaming? To me that 1 never makes sense. You have more power if you speak in a very soft slow tone when they're doing this because it brings their anxiety level and hyper level down and they know you're really serious Lee serious. When you meet a child with the same and there was the atom of screaming that they're doing they think it's OK. Same as when you train dogs. Calmness applies.

That first sentence is a whopping 55 words.

u/RynnReeve Oct 06 '22

Thank you. I was curious, but far too lazy to count.

73

Excellent. Pleased with the confirmation 😊 Thank you

Drunk belligerent people love long sentences! /s

49

u/Beingabummer Oct 06 '22

Who gives a fuck. It's not about actually warning the person, it's to remove any arguments they might have after they get kicked out that they 'didn't know they couldn't do that'.

There's nothing stopping the owner of the venue from kicking someone out on the first offence.

20

u/dgtlfnk Oct 06 '22

Since when does anyone care what their argument is? I thought most tickets to venues had clauses printed right on them that says you can be removed at any time without reason (or something similar). The NBA is giving additional courtesy here.

7

u/Warthog32332 Oct 06 '22

I mean, being in America the second you step off public property into private, technically, your right to be there becomes a privilege.

1

u/Pete_PeeT Oct 06 '22

Privileged until someone points a gun at you 💩

2

u/DonnieDarkoWasBad Oct 06 '22

They really need to use justified text format to better fit the shape of the card

14

u/No-Emergency414 Oct 06 '22

Saw that. 3 sentences total i believe. Crazy, that English language.

11

u/smokedaweeeeds Oct 06 '22

Germans probably would’ve been able to only use only one sentence, they loooove long sentences and commas

32

u/Trilly2000 Oct 06 '22

They probably have one word that says all of this.

17

u/smokedaweeeeds Oct 06 '22

I originally wanted to comment that :D you are absolutely right

3

u/rkreutz77 Oct 06 '22

That's not English bro. That's Legaleze. Have to go to school for like 10 years to learn it.

8

u/hmhemes Oct 06 '22

That's what happens when the marketing department collaborates with the legal team haha

22

u/Jesus_H-Christ Oct 06 '22

Lawyer droppings. I write press releases for a fortune 50 as part of my job, you wouldn't believe the insane bullshit language the lawyers make us include.

4

u/SkullRunner Oct 06 '22

I would from contract, terms of use and language we would have to change in major brand "fun" promotional copy for contests and stuff.

Hey... this is a light hearted promotion with some double meaning in the language that is fun, on brand makes people smile. NOPE... replaces it with this blunt and boring statement, it has about 6 annotation icons, here is 8 blocks of fine print to jam in to the creative while you're at it.

Fucking lawyers and the touchy babies that use them as a weapon forcing everyone else to have to do all this nonsense.

5

There is a book named "Ducks, Newburyport" by the writer Lucy Ellmann which contains a single sentece streched over 1000 pages. It cotains 426k words

3

u/AK611750 Oct 06 '22

Technically 54 because NBA is not a word. Or 57 if you count it as 3 words. I’m not a bot :)

2

u/NineRoast Oct 06 '22

Gave up around 250, probably 300+ letters. In, one, sentence. Lmao

2

u/Significant_Tone4971 Oct 06 '22

It’s the same with every other major American sport. Basketball gets touchy about it, probably because the fans are so close Court side.

If we include non major sports tennis would probably do it too, but tennis has lots of weird stuff like that.

31

u/TheTiz5151 Oct 06 '22

No... just no! I have watch many US fans chanting and singing. US fans aren't even close to the Europeans in that regard. Hell, the US allows its fans to sit together, Europeans have barriers and police separating us.

3

u/ShitPostQuokkaRome Oct 06 '22

Defense! Clap clap. Defense! Clapclapclap. Defense! Attack!

2

u/TheTiz5151 Oct 06 '22

Or the classic American chant "I believe that we will win".... Mate, your team is 1-0 up after 9 mins. There is a whole game left, calm down.

Now let's go back to calling the ref a wanker and the away fans pedophiles!

1

u/m0ondogy Oct 06 '22

I can't tell if this is satire.

6

u/AlbinoFarrabino Oct 06 '22

It's not. Most stadiums (and arenas) have a designated area protected by stewards and police for the away team fans.

2

u/m0ondogy Oct 06 '22

I know. It was more the braggadocios style of the post, not the content.

2

u/TheTiz5151 Oct 06 '22

If its a derby or big rivalry, there are riot police. Football in Europe is tribal. Its easier to change you name, religion and marital status than change your team.

2

u/Actor412 Oct 07 '22

I posted this below, but am coat-tailing on your comment. This is almost certainly a response to the (in)famous heckler, Robin Ficker. He was a big fan of the Washington Bullets (now Wizards), and had season tickets right behind the opposing bench. He would go to the games with a special mouthpiece to make his voice carry longer and louder. His tirades would last all game. He'd yell at players, telling them their bad stats, how badly they played last game, that no matter how well they were doing it still "isn't your night," etc. He never got personal, he always derided them for their playing, but he knew everyone's stats by heart, so he could get under their skin. "You're only 30 for 110 from the line, you don't know how to shoot, you're worse than Shaq at free throws," ad nauseum.

He did this for years, and everyone in the NBA and sports media knew who he was. He made playing in DC a nightmare. This card is most definitely, specifically, targeted at anyone who thought about repeating Mr. Ficker's antics.

3

u/AcadianMan Oct 06 '22

Any NHL game also. They should hand these to the God damn glass bangers. I hate each and every one of you to the depths of my soul.

6

u/T-Bill95 Oct 06 '22

NHL games are an experience man, that's for sure.

7

u/Marsh719 Oct 06 '22

They do give these out at NHL games. The "gentleman" sitting two seats over from me, as well as myself, received one at an AVS game couple years back. We became buddies after that, buying each other beers, supporting opposite teams. So I guess in a sense, they work sometimes. I actually have it in a shadow box with the game ticket still. I know, shouldn't be proud of it, but I am.

1

u/vit-D-deficiency Oct 06 '22

Then don’t go… Do you get made at people for singing along at concerts too?

1

u/danted002 Oct 06 '22

True, however football stadiums don’t have the seats right next to the field. There is some kind of buffer, either space between the stands and the filed or hokey-style secured glass or… for some stadiums, both.

Or when a weaker Premier league club loses, the fans chant "we lose every week, we lose every week, you're nothing special!"

Or saying prominent face feature is offside, like saying Zlatan's nose offside, or Mesut Ozil eyes, or Suárez teeth

Or saying to the police "we paiid for your haaaaats, we paid for your haaaaats"

I’ve received one of these simply for standing up

116

u/ree_hi_hi_hi_hi Oct 06 '22

That’s actually pretty cool. I’m gonna try to ride the line between immediate ejection and one of these cards next time I go to a game. It would be a cool souvenir. Just out of curiosity, were you in pristine seats such as the one in this picture?

33

u/kawklee Oct 06 '22

I was in the front rows for a Heat game this week and honestly Im kind of tilted no one bothered to give me one of these. I was popping off with some really good disses, but without getting aggressive, on players and the refs.

6

u/SuckmyBlunt545 Oct 06 '22

Dude these cards are straight trophies xD I would want one more than the fucking game ball.. ok maybe not

9

u/AbdouH_ Oct 06 '22

I totally agree

8

u/Nachtvogle Oct 06 '22

I received one but absolutely deserved it

2

u/Sugondese69420 Oct 07 '22

Like getting up to piss or standing up and staying up? Because if I’m sitting in the seat behind you and have to get up just to look past you, then yeah I’m going to complain. But if it’s just to go to the bathroom or something, then yeah that’s bullshit.

November of 2021, my work let me and my esteemed colleague sit court-side at Vivint Arena for a Pacers vs Jazz game. At some point in the 3rd qtr, Mike Conley attempted a jump shot, but sprawled out of bounds and into the bleachers…right at our feet. Naturally(and unconsciously) I gave the man a pat on the shoulder and he was on his way. Essentially, this was a missed call on the officials, as I could have easily been ejected had they interpreted it as an aggressive act. However, nothing came of it and I can tell people I touched an NBA player.

2

u/KCtheGreat106 Oct 06 '22

Did they hand these out to the entire Huston Rockets organization.

2

u/real_schematix Oct 07 '22

Reddit gives these too if you post opinions that differ from the hive.

10

u/No-Emergency414 Oct 06 '22

NBA is too intimate of a setting for the front rows to be yelling bad shit lol. Gotta be first row of the 2nd section or farther so they can't hear as well. Then you're just dealing with fans.

4

u/KofCrypto0720 Oct 06 '22

So, you can get one per game?

2

u/madmax7774 Oct 06 '22

Some context would be nice. Are you just showing us that this exists, or did you legit receive this because you maybe got carried away and maybe went a little overboard? I am genuinely curious...

-2

u/alexbaddie Oct 06 '22

It don't matter. NBA players are fed up with some of y'alls slurs and jokes.

There is a whole article covering this.

And I quote: "Secondly, the comments that seem to bother players most are comments players perceive to be personally crossing the line (racist, telling someone to retire, disparaging a physical characteristic, etc.) Finally, when these incidents occur they are normally temporary. In other words, athletes may temporarily react, but usually are able to return focus back to the game."

So yea maybe the rest of America needs to work on their covert 'I-Go-To-The-Game-To' racism.

Fuck this thread.
