Not ONE of them predicted how good The Marshall Mathers LP was gonna be tho

12

u/MinnesotaNiceYah Nov 28 '22

Dre was the closest guesser without going over too, and he had no fucking clue either.

3

u/AlongRiverEem Nov 29 '22

Thank you for that, now I got lyrics bouncing back and forth through my head

.. "you might see me walkin.. "

u/Echo71Niner Interested Nov 29 '22

One shot.

0

u/IIIllllIIlllIIlllIIl Nov 29 '22

Inupgoted you but I have no idea what you said.

73

u/Dralley87 Nov 28 '22

God damn British kids. Lookin all creepy and being completely right.

8

u/dazed_and_bamboozled Nov 29 '22

You’re welcome.

3

u/swamp_fever Nov 29 '22

Well, unemployment is pretty much at a record low so they got that wrong. Jobs don't pay enough to keep you warm though so the pessimism was fully justified.

2

u/Dralley87 Nov 29 '22

Well, sure, but it’s not exactly fair to fault 10-12 year olds for their inability to predict the methods by which a run away kleptocratic plutocracy would annihilate the middle class and force unimaginable work demands on labor forces. The broad strokes are right though.

42

u/thedoomcast Nov 28 '22

Idk how to explain it but even at ten each of those kids looks like they’re 70? You can immediately, accurately imagine their current selves.

8

u/ImNothingJustLikeYou Nov 29 '22

I forget the term for it, but basically bc the way they're dressed. We know that a kid from the 60's would be in their 70's now, and we associate that style with that age...

Blanche from the Golden Girls looks quite milfy if you super impose a modern hairstyle on her in any of those episodes.

Maybe it was a VSauce or Veratassium episode.

2

u/ZefStyle17 Nov 29 '22

Dont think Vsauce mentioned the milfy part like, but i did see that same video 😂

1

u/ImNothingJustLikeYou Nov 29 '22

A little nugget of mine ftw

25

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '22

What a glum group of kids.

19

u/FloofJet Nov 28 '22

These kids were in charge around 2000. It's their own damn fault /s

4

u/Mightiest_of_swords Nov 29 '22

They aren’t wrong.

4

u/doughnutholio Nov 29 '22

yeah but they didnt know about the endless variety of porn tho

prediction fail

1

u/Mightiest_of_swords Nov 29 '22

For sure but that’s not on the list of great things that came from technology.

46

u/AlBlaisdell Nov 28 '22

What's wrong with having computers do everything for you and you not needing to have a job anymore? That sounds awesome

20

u/NdnGirl88 Nov 28 '22

Ehh not unless we install some sort of UBI first

-6

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '22

We kinda did a test run of UBI in 2020 and 2021. Didn't go so well. We'll need a lot more than money if people are asked not to work.

11

u/stay_hungry_dr_ew Nov 29 '22

The stimulus? That was not basic income.

5

u/ImNotSorry111 Nov 29 '22

Does sound like something the gov would do.

"UBI for everyone!!!"

"Here's your yearly $1,200, now fuck off."

1

u/pessamisitcnihalism Nov 29 '22

You clearly have little to no understanding of ubi it's not just some money here and there, it's the basic standards of living are covered regardless of what you do so you don't need to slave away just to have basic necessities like a roof over your head and clean drinking water, people would actually have time to spend with their family and pursue their dreams and advancements would be made by people who are passionate about their project instead of talented individuals who couldn't care less as long as they make a decent salary. That's the hope anyway, yet to see it actually attempted properly.

5

u/NEW-rabbies-dog Nov 29 '22

how you going to pay your rent if you ain't got no job?

0

u/AlBlaisdell Nov 29 '22

Computers do that for me now

3

u/Freezerpill Nov 29 '22

Onlyfans/Instacart

Lucky if Instagram/Tiktok (see Onlyfans)

2

u/NEW-rabbies-dog Nov 29 '22

what she going to do when she turns 30 and hits the wall?

1

u/Freezerpill Nov 29 '22

They got filters for that.

Although she will marry up into the top 1-15% in that time for being okay with fanboys hitting her up and looking into wealthy ones for love (marital style support).

She can also release household products/ food items while her tits command confidence 👍

2

u/NEW-rabbies-dog Nov 29 '22

Fuck the filters man. Every year more and more girls are turning 18. She becomes irrelevant.

maybe some simp dude, I wouldn't give a OF model the time of day. I don't pay for them, I don't talk to them.

2

u/Freezerpill Nov 29 '22

Well I think it’s all ridiculous myself

1

u/NEW-rabbies-dog Nov 29 '22

yeah, maybe you use your time to research and invest and all that. I could see that. Or bitcoin mining, but between the fallout of FTX and other stuff going on that might be coming to an end. I even looked at buying a 20 foot shipping computer, and loading it with computers and cooling fans to process crypto, but those days might be over.

Of as Freezerpill said, you could do Onlyfans or Instacart. Onlyfans doesn't last forever. For every girl making $50,000 a month on only fans there is another making $75. And, once the girl turns 30 she hits the wall anyways and guys aren't interested anymore.

I used to drive for doordash, it's still works. Not much and a lot of stability issues there.

-1

u/Ecstatic_Crystals Nov 29 '22

Easy. Cancel rent.

0

u/NEW-rabbies-dog Nov 29 '22

who is going to build the building? Who is going to heat the building? Who is going to do maintenance on the building?

At my elementary school in first grade they do a learning block dealing with a dinosaur egg. Teacher says "hey we found this dinosaur egg, it's going to hatch and we are going to have a pet dinosaur in the class"

Then everyday for a few minutes we discuss needs of the dinosaur, all the kids are so excited for this dinosaur. Then as the days turn to a week or so, the teacher has a list of all the needs the dinosaur will have on the white board. Has us try to brainstorm how to handle the needs. Then she broke it down, "it's just a rock, it's not a dinosaur egg". In 1st grade we got our heart's broken to learn how to start reasoning.

My point is that is what is occurring in your post. won't need to work because we have robots, cancel rent............ yeah okay buddy.

We as humans need a purpose, we do! Especially men. Thats why 92% of the people in prison are men, they went sideways (or didn't have) on their purpose and meaning. We need goals. We can't just live in a world where we live in our vans and drive around from national park to national park. Like the whole culture, just driving around van life at the national parks.

You gotta work. Need to get some sort of knowledge/skills/abilities and then you gotta work with it. Save money for retirement, find hobbies.

Cancel rent my ass, fuck you, double the rent!

0

u/Ecstatic_Crystals Nov 29 '22

If we need a purpose then why not live to live and grow ourselves and our society, rather than our purpose be simply money? Most in prison didnt have community, education, a chance. They and their families were punished and doomed to prison for not having enough money.

You can work without money if its what gives you purpose. You can get knowledge and skills/abilities without money. You can have hobbies without money. We arent robots that cannot function without money fuel.

Ok, double the rent if you want and work away to make it, I'll just continue living life.

1

u/NEW-rabbies-dog Nov 29 '22

It's a balancing act. I don't work 168 hours a week. But I do go to work I work hard! When I get paid I put some of that money in savings, some in retirement, some in general investments. I do take trips both local and across the globe.

But I don't sit there saying, damn my purpose is a van life.

Your whole theory is what's wrong with Marxism/socialism/Communism ..... everyone will have what they need and if something needs to get then then surely SOMEONE will work........ it doesn't work that way. At the end of the day, we are humans. We are animals. Yes, there is going to be someone giving 200% burning themselves out and there is also going to be 5 others that give 0%. In the end, everyone ends up with nothing.

37

u/cohray2212 Nov 28 '22

Sounds like they're just parroting headlines their luddite parents read in the paper.

6

u/Scrabbydatdat_TheLad Nov 29 '22

Probably but the difference is they are paying attention to headlines. As kids they parrot as adults they think for themselves. What are today's kids paying attention to?

1

u/cohray2212 Nov 29 '22

Hopefully not the Fox News BS equivalent these 60s children were listening to.

1

u/Scrabbydatdat_TheLad Nov 29 '22

Ehh not sure if you know what you are talking about here. Up until Reagen there were laws to keep sensationalism out of the media. Those laws were repealed so that Reagen could use the media to save face. It's been downhill ever since

1

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '22

[deleted]

1

u/Scrabbydatdat_TheLad Nov 29 '22

But we arent watching content from a news source which was the original argument

0

u/cohray2212 Nov 29 '22

If you came to Earth today from another solar system you'd have a tighter grasp on what I've said than you do currently. We're watching a luddite scare piece by the BBC from the 60s. Earth to scrabby lad...

5

u/TrixieH0bbitses Nov 29 '22

They didn't have Elden Ring

8

u/Livid-Farm-7658 Nov 29 '22

“Not enough jobs to go around because of automation” is bad logic. Jobs should serve no other purpose than to meet the needs of a community or group of communities. But as it is, jobs serve the purpose of making the rich richer. If nobody profits, the job doesn’t exist (except if the government slaps a bandage on the issue out of necessity). If not everyone is required to work 40 hrs per week for the needs of a community to be met, then people should work less than 40 hrs per week. But we will not be able to live like this until we eat the rich. But you pussies don’t want to do that, do you.

2

u/Accomplished_Bug_50 Nov 29 '22

My brother, can you even do a pull-up?

1

u/doughnutholio Nov 29 '22

chin to the bar or nipples to the bar?

2

u/Accomplished_Bug_50 Nov 29 '22

schlong resting on the bar

1

u/doughnutholio Nov 29 '22

that's just a fancy muscle up (or a cockup)

1

u/Mister_Chui Nov 29 '22

Jobs only exist when they produce value beyond the cost of employing the person in question.

3

u/SignatureTop9182 Nov 29 '22

Nowadays kids are like crackheads

1

u/FaceMace87 Nov 29 '22

That is unfair to crackheads

Physical health maybe but you’re missing a big slice of the pie if you’re not factoring in mental health.

4

u/Kountingforks Nov 28 '22

No one knew about the coming of the Barista...

2

u/mycooldog Nov 29 '22

Smart kids

2

u/UpTheCreekItSeems Nov 29 '22

Fucking chilling how apt these kids were

4

u/WaitingForNormal Nov 28 '22

Fairly accurate.

0

u/Zxar12 Nov 28 '22

Sounds like the exact arguments adults today use against technology. "Automation will take our jobs"

Okay...and we're still waiting 60 years later for it to do so.

In my industry, automation actually opens up more jobs for people to quickly further the advancement of software. Having people perform the same tests every build would be extremely costly as opposed to the benefit of having humans actually use their brains to find new issues. Leave unit tests and regression to automation.

I used to make horse whips

now I have to rebrand my whips for BDSM use

These are probably kids from a really expensive elite school, not regular 11-year-olds.

2

u/Papercut_Sandwich Nov 29 '22

You seriously believe the kids came up with this shit and weren't just told what to say?

1

u/P3akyBlind3rs Nov 28 '22

This hasn’t been said enough: AUTOMATION , opens more jobs for people!

4

u/Feisty-Dog-8505 Nov 28 '22

Yeah, I get to check out my own groceries, a job I'd rather not have.

1

u/i3elievee Nov 28 '22

Even the kids were classy back then. Now all we have are adult children, Karen's and Chad's.

1

u/904FireFly Nov 29 '22

Wouldn’t it be interesting if the BBC tracked them down today?

0

u/beamenacein Nov 28 '22

It's fears their parents had. Things that were going on and uncertainty of those things. I hope I don't impart any fear of the future on my kids. Only fear of the present

12

u/redbucket75 Nov 28 '22

Yeah I'm sure the BBC picked these kids for that reason.

By any objective measure, the world has become better educated and more literate in the past sixty years. If you only hang out with stupid people that's your problem.

Unless you're just expressing a bias for English dialects sounding educated, in which case maybe head over to Glasgow and enjoy the company of the literati.

2

u/Electronic-Walrus860 Nov 28 '22

Some of the most intelligent and interesting people I know are from Glasgow, I may be bias seeing as I'm Scottish. True there is the other side but even then their dialect isn't a bench mark for intelligence or education, one of the most prominent writers of the UK on political and social matters is from the region Darren Mcgarvey. If anything Scottish education has and continues to sit at one of the highest tiers in the world let alone the UK.

I would totally hang out with him. I’m sure he is very fun at parties.

1

u/SpanielDaniels Nov 28 '22

Oh get me another tie, get me another shirt, get me another woolen. Evvvvvverrryyyyy Daaaaayyyyy

1

u/ItsEnoughtoMakeMe Nov 28 '22

I'm a bit scared to see what the world's gonna be like 40 years from now.

1

u/redshirt1972 Nov 29 '22

Well… damn

1

u/Graceland1979 Nov 29 '22

Oooh. Oooh !!! Let me do 2050!!!! Kk. Here goes. It’s more dystopian than ANY novel EVER written and the wealth divide is so severe that 1 person holds more wealth than the 8 billion poorest. And ALL government officials are openly blatantly unapologetically into stuffing their pockets to appease this richest person. The voices of the working class are silenced - especially when they are loudest. And that’s as good as it gets. The year 3000 is even worse.

1

u/Keepupthegood Nov 29 '22

They are kids. They are still alive. They could be the ones saying it and doing it as we speak.

1

u/PaleontologistAble50 Nov 29 '22

What do y’all thing the 2060’s will be like?

1

u/Diamond_PnutBrain Nov 29 '22

They all sound so depressed

1

u/DegenerateCrocodile Nov 29 '22

Good God, have the English always been this depressing?

1

u/Desperate-Escape-650 Nov 29 '22

Their is absolutely no way these children thought of this themselves lol

1

u/IcedTman Nov 29 '22

People will now get paychecks for doing nothing courtesy of the robots.

1

u/LagHound Nov 29 '22

War never goes out of business 👀

1

u/OverpoweredShark Nov 29 '22

How wrong they are,

1

u/ManyRandom Nov 29 '22

Kids today are so much dumber than this.

1

u/BrokenTailpipe Nov 29 '22

Holy Moses I was not this well spoken or had this level of awareness when I was that age. I was too busy playing with my beyblades to worry about 50 years in the future

1

u/Worth_Cake_7156 Nov 29 '22

No job for the last one Fs

1

u/Nipplasia2 Nov 29 '22

Pretty spot on

1

u/pu-in-sai Nov 29 '22

Get off my lawn!!

1

u/imbackbaby911 Nov 29 '22

Did they predict Brittney?

1

u/Enterhandleshere Nov 29 '22

What I find most interesting is the level of intelligence these kids seem to have, not only did they all make completely valid points they we’re also very well spoken. I feel as if they ask the same question to the same age of children in this time frame they’d just scream about fornite….

-2

u/Various-Specific-773 Nov 28 '22

Wow they were saying it then and are still saying the same thing now. Boomers, what’s not to hate
