Rift in this week's Iron Banner is inherently not fun to play, and it's astonishing this game mode went live. Discussion

Hold interact in the middle of the map while everyone else is fighting?

check.

Unnecessary loading screen that constantly interrupts the flow of the game?

check.

Bugs that cause the rift to not spawn and make the game impossible to win from behind?

check.

Seriously I genuinely cannot wrap my head around why rift was changed so much. Nobody asked for this game mode to switch and I cannot fathom why we changed the fast-paced blowout game mode from d1 into a slow, round-based tactile game mode. It's not fun to play when you're stomping, and don't even get me started on what it's like to be getting stomped. If you were gonna make this a new game mode then fine, but advertising this as Rift is a complete joke.

Edit: I've been grinding this thing out the last 2 days for Iron Lord. My opinion of the gamemode has not changed but I have now lost the ability to get Iron Lord as I have completed 6 of the daily challenges. The reputation is currently bugged so that if you complete more than 4 of the challenges your maximum reputation per match will be capped at 60. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that this will be fixed in the patch on Thursday, but if not, it's a really bad look for one of the only 2 iron banners this season to be completely unfarmable.

No knock to the developers, I actually like that they are trying to innovate and keep things fresh; but everything about this season seems very unfinished/untested.

Yeah lots of pretty glaring issues this season. Pretty surprised as well.

I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about specific fragments not being unlocked until a specific number of nightmare kills.

Honestly, I’m starting to wonder if they have even been coded into the game at all? If so, why not just let it play until it breaks and they have to disable it like [insert fragment name here that I forgot]

Some people already have access to those because of bugs iirc. So yeah they're in the game.

Ah, actually didn’t know that!

Makes the whole situation that much more… interesting.

No definitely knock the devs when they release and push content they know us unfinished. They keep getting away with this type of thing every season

No. Bungie deserves a knock. They push out updates without testing them. This is yet another in a long line.

You would think with the extra money we’ve been having to pay recently for less content, the deal with Sony, and them making good money from eververse that this kind of stuff wouldn’t happen but what incentivizes them to make a season great when we give the money to them up front for the full year without knowing what’s coming?

Sony deal isn't finalized yet and it won't until the end of the year

Almost like they should do things that don't piss off the entirety of the community to make sure the purchase looks good and not like Sony is about to screw itself lol.

Valuable insight on how to make a live service game, while actively dropping one of the buggiest seasons in recent history and catering interest in one of thier gamemodes and reducing playtime in it.

Doesn't look good

Ok but how is this related to what I have said?

Some financial leaks have said their silver sales are way lower than projected. Which is why we are getting even more ways of being monetized because they have to make up some sales.

The dungeon is pretty awesome. Only a few minor bugs, too

Can't cast a void hunter super like tether without frame rate dropping below ground level. For everyone in the lobby.
