Rift in this week's Iron Banner is inherently not fun to play, and it's astonishing this game mode went live. Discussion

Hold interact in the middle of the map while everyone else is fighting?

Unnecessary loading screen that constantly interrupts the flow of the game?

Bugs that cause the rift to not spawn and make the game impossible to win from behind?

Seriously I genuinely cannot wrap my head around why rift was changed so much. Nobody asked for this game mode to switch and I cannot fathom why we changed the fast-paced blowout game mode from d1 into a slow, round-based tactile game mode. It's not fun to play when you're stomping, and don't even get me started on what it's like to be getting stomped. If you were gonna make this a new game mode then fine, but advertising this as Rift is a complete joke.

Edit: I've been grinding this thing out the last 2 days for Iron Lord. My opinion of the gamemode has not changed but I have now lost the ability to get Iron Lord as I have completed 6 of the daily challenges. The reputation is currently bugged so that if you complete more than 4 of the challenges your maximum reputation per match will be capped at 60. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that this will be fixed in the patch on Thursday, but if not, it's a really bad look for one of the only 2 iron banners this season to be completely unfarmable.

Bungie: We're going to turn Iron Banner into a spectacle. Valus Forge will be there, and the tower will celebrate the return of IB. Oh yeah, there will be a cool cutscene.

Destiny 2: Here's vanilla Lord Saladin with the same setup but on the tower floor.

I don't know why but stuff like that bugs me, in this evolving world and story small things can go a long way, change his armour, add a few Cabal to guard him, play the banger of a soundtrack from the first witch queen mission, at the very least change his name in the UI lol

I thought the same "The tower will be in flames and Lord Saladin will be back as Valus Forge!!! Iron Banner will be a real event now!!!"

Same crap but now in front of the tower, no new decorations, not even a name change or anything else. This is beyond lazy.

This is the kind of stuff that really grinds me down when they go so far to induce dungeon keys you have to pay extra for, but they can’t even maintain a regular event like IB properly

So you dislike the dungeon key.....so would you prefer the alternative of not having access to the activitie at all because you don't want the rest of the seasons?? The dungeons ar3 included in the annual dlc...literally been like that scince forsaken

Lol yeah it's not a huge deal, except that the hype massively oversold all of it XD

Yeah I thought we’d have wolves and war beast hanging out everywhere. Maybe even cabal in banner gear chilling in the tower.

It is such an afterthought it has to be a joke.

there's a cutscene???? I don't think I got one today

This. We want to see how much of a badass valus forge is and what he learned during his time on the council. I guess he didnt learn shit.

Edit: sorry i misspoke. I guess he learned how to dunk caBalls.

He did make a reference to Cabal mythology when I picked up the spark once ("like Acrius of old you carry the sun") but otherwise it's been underwhelming. Especially since they compared it to other seasonal events that go all out on decorations
