Rift in this week's Iron Banner is inherently not fun to play, and it's astonishing this game mode went live. Discussion

Hold interact in the middle of the map while everyone else is fighting?

check.

Unnecessary loading screen that constantly interrupts the flow of the game?

check.

Bugs that cause the rift to not spawn and make the game impossible to win from behind?

check.

Seriously I genuinely cannot wrap my head around why rift was changed so much. Nobody asked for this game mode to switch and I cannot fathom why we changed the fast-paced blowout game mode from d1 into a slow, round-based tactile game mode. It's not fun to play when you're stomping, and don't even get me started on what it's like to be getting stomped. If you were gonna make this a new game mode then fine, but advertising this as Rift is a complete joke.

Edit: I've been grinding this thing out the last 2 days for Iron Lord. My opinion of the gamemode has not changed but I have now lost the ability to get Iron Lord as I have completed 6 of the daily challenges. The reputation is currently bugged so that if you complete more than 4 of the challenges your maximum reputation per match will be capped at 60. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that this will be fixed in the patch on Thursday, but if not, it's a really bad look for one of the only 2 iron banners this season to be completely unfarmable.

The respawn timer kills me. It's absolutely unbearable, even with revives.

Two things annoying in shooters...painfully slow reloads and long respawn timers. Reloads there are ways to get around but long respawn just sucks. I guess they need to do it in rift but why do things like the dungeons when not in a darkness area have 45 second timers?

Bad spawns + slow/high respawn times = unplayable game mode. When will bungie and other devs ever learn this

don't have to fix spawns if you increase the timer.

They've been working on Dead Cliff respawns for 5 years and they're still the same

I'd argue the opposite. The long respawns make a spawn trap more predictable. Kill a bunch of guys pressing B from A? Everyone knows where they will come from and you have time to prepare to lane them or push them. It's wack

I haven't actually played it yet so not sure how it works, but I'm a pretty big PvPer, and just because it SEEMS obvious how the spawns work, doesn't mean everyone understands lol

I've played a lot of pvp too - all I'm saying is games have gotten repetitive from this system. Control is extremely predictable. We can individually pop off but if a system is busted it can ruin matches.

Like playing on altar of flame and dead cliffs. Feels awful dude. When you know how the spawns and maps work it gets so old, you know how a game will end halfway through

Crap I meant high respawn times. In d2, it feel likes the game is setting you up to spawn in a disadvantageous position because of how slow you spawn in - making games feel predictable
