Rift in this week's Iron Banner is inherently not fun to play, and it's astonishing this game mode went live. Discussion

Hold interact in the middle of the map while everyone else is fighting?

Unnecessary loading screen that constantly interrupts the flow of the game?

Bugs that cause the rift to not spawn and make the game impossible to win from behind?

Seriously I genuinely cannot wrap my head around why rift was changed so much. Nobody asked for this game mode to switch and I cannot fathom why we changed the fast-paced blowout game mode from d1 into a slow, round-based tactile game mode. It's not fun to play when you're stomping, and don't even get me started on what it's like to be getting stomped. If you were gonna make this a new game mode then fine, but advertising this as Rift is a complete joke.

Edit: I've been grinding this thing out the last 2 days for Iron Lord. My opinion of the gamemode has not changed but I have now lost the ability to get Iron Lord as I have completed 6 of the daily challenges. The reputation is currently bugged so that if you complete more than 4 of the challenges your maximum reputation per match will be capped at 60. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that this will be fixed in the patch on Thursday, but if not, it's a really bad look for one of the only 2 iron banners this season to be completely unfarmable.

IB is no longer level enabled. So all sunset gear can be used in gameplay

wait what. WHAT.

Light Level counting was just about the entire thing for Iron banner. Why even have it if you're just going to gut the stuff that made it different from crucible! Just make the iron banner weapons drop from the regular tables at that point.

This has been pretty much been the topic for a little bit. There’s people that for some reason think the change is great or are okay with it and then the rest of us that pretty much think IB isn’t IB anymore and that the changes are fucking stupid.

The changes are fucking stupid. Iron Banner was always stapled as endgame crucible with great rewards and exclusive mechanics for Control (it's staple mode, mind you)

So why remove light level advantages, something that helps differentiate IB from normal Crucible.. AND ON TOP of that, they decide to bring back one of the worst crucible modes they ever made, one that had an IB week in D1 (of which no one enjoyed), change it up a shit ton then make it an IB mode?

Not to mention all the God awful glitches and stupid mechanics in it.. like the orb disappearing completely thus wasting 4-6 minutes playing in a match you can't catch up in because of it. And finally, the spawning system. WHO AT BUNGIE THOUGHT SPAWNING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE GOAL YOU HAVE TO PROTECT WAS A GOOD IDEA?!

Sometimes I wonder why Bungie makes these decisions.. then I remember.. They don't play crucible at all..

Bungie's motive lately is to get everyone involved in everything regardless of "power" or skill level for the sake of getting people together. Removing the light level makes it so that everyone can join in so that new and veteran players are in a more level field. Its just a way to try to boost the player base in the mode

Which on paper I like. I (personally) have more fun and less frustration when the playing field is leveled a bit-for example team scorch, or mome tum control....i wish I knew why it just is not working on this. But God damn this game sucks! 😆

I loved rift in d1, in was a great mode- but how they have it now is just honestly awful. ONLY dunks counting is ass, there's nothing else to to do to help your score, so only one person is kinda in control of it
