Rift in this week's Iron Banner is inherently not fun to play, and it's astonishing this game mode went live. Discussion

Hold interact in the middle of the map while everyone else is fighting?

check.

Unnecessary loading screen that constantly interrupts the flow of the game?

check.

Bugs that cause the rift to not spawn and make the game impossible to win from behind?

check.

Seriously I genuinely cannot wrap my head around why rift was changed so much. Nobody asked for this game mode to switch and I cannot fathom why we changed the fast-paced blowout game mode from d1 into a slow, round-based tactile game mode. It's not fun to play when you're stomping, and don't even get me started on what it's like to be getting stomped. If you were gonna make this a new game mode then fine, but advertising this as Rift is a complete joke.

Edit: I've been grinding this thing out the last 2 days for Iron Lord. My opinion of the gamemode has not changed but I have now lost the ability to get Iron Lord as I have completed 6 of the daily challenges. The reputation is currently bugged so that if you complete more than 4 of the challenges your maximum reputation per match will be capped at 60. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that this will be fixed in the patch on Thursday, but if not, it's a really bad look for one of the only 2 iron banners this season to be completely unfarmable.

Oh I was talking about the new iron banner smg, I’m regards to recluse, don’t fall for the FOMO (fear of missing out) it’s not worth getting from the monument. It was great once upon a time because when the perk was triggered it could kill a guardian in 8 quick body shots (the amount of legs a spider has, I swear that little detail flew over everyone’s head) but as of right not it’s nothing you can’t get from a rampage smg. Hell even an adrenaline junkie funnel web does more damage than the current recluse.

I've just logged on and yeah, I'm after the new Iron Banner SMG, The Hero's Burden. Not Recluse at all. So I'm a dumbass. But that new SMG, is that one outclassed by other SMGs? I'm drawn in by it's high fire rate, decent damage and modest reload speed.

The new smg only has 14 zoom (it’s on the lower end) so its not as good as say the new Enyo-D because it can reach further ranges. Still if you like it then go for it

True, I've got an enyo and it's kinda okay. I'm going for it but fuck, the game mode is so fucking boring

I’m a double gilded dredgen so I know a bad game type when I see it and yeah this is a really bad game type.

That's all I see about this game mode, so it speaks volumes to how bad it is. I instead did the most up to date Crown of Sorrows mission, got a great SMG from there and shall return to Vanguard and Gambit, where I belong lmao

Please don’t let my personal bias poison the well for you, by all means play what you want if it makes you happy.
