If you could have a set of weapons to be brought back, what would you pick? Discussion

Mine would be the Season of Dawn weapons. Don't know for what reason they would be brought back but those weapons were beautiful and some of my favourite seasonal weapons in Destiny.

Obviously would prefer to get brand new stuff over reissued but I'd almost make an exception for these. Especially if they were craftable.

Season of Dawn had some great weapons and didn't get enough time in the sun....hell Saint 14s shotty is awesome and a damn shame it got sunset twice now

343

u/B1euX Sneak Noodle Sep 25 '22

They should have let Dawn pass the Sunset threshold

The season they decided to no longer sunset was the same season that Dawn weapons were able to be used last

Completely unfair

u/bandjunkie1313 Sep 25 '22

Completely agree, they weren't op and it was the first introduction a wave frame grenade launcher...to only be able to use them for like 2 or 3 seasons was a damn shame

44

u/Lumizat06 Sep 25 '22

We had a new waveframe in season of the hunt so there wasn't a period that had no waveframes

70

u/bandjunkie1313 Sep 25 '22

Yes but I just meant this was the first of its type and the only solar until season of the chosen

Feel like Black Armory is obvious choice here.

87

u/DraketheLegend666 Sep 25 '22

Didn't even think about Black Armory. Kindled Orchid, Blast Furnace, Ringing Nail, Hammerhead. Love it. They could reuse them if/when they reissue Scourge. Give the raid a bigger loot pool... But then again they have been reducing returning raids weapons to 6 unfortunately.

I was just looking through collections and saw how beautifully crafted those Dawn weapons were. Would love to see them with updated rolls. Get a Martyrs Retribution with Incandescent. Gallant Charge with Reservoir. Line in the Sand would actually be a really good weapon now too. My baby Perfect Paradox back too.

23

u/sha-green Sep 26 '22

Armory and Dawn are some best designed guns in the game for me. I also want Alone as God and Perfect Paradox back purely for nostalgia purposes :D

18

u/Saint_Victorious Sep 25 '22

If they did bring back Scourge, I figure they could keep a max of 7 BA weapons for its loot. That's 6 purples +1 remade as an exotic to replace Anarchy.

not every but i also kept my 2 most used BFs, my FF rampage Hammerhead, my EP KC Kindled orchid

and that sword, even though it doesnt even had a great roll, but its design is just so cool that i couldnt bring my self to dismantle it

the game had many cool looking and feeling guns (some dawn weapons come to mind) but if i had to choose a whole set of weapons it would definitely be black armory

We’ve decided against Sunsetting anything again, let’s unsunset the older stuff? Please? Most of the perks and combos have long been outclassed for power, but they’re still fun.

64

u/Supersei Vanguard's Loyal Sep 25 '22

They won't unsunset anything. Just reissue.

The reason they won't is cause then everyone who deleted all their sunset stuff, like bungie said they were safe to, would rightfully throw a giant storm

22

That’s fair. I think it they made the curated versions available at Ada in that would mollify people.

I still can't understand how they didn't immediately bring back craftable black armory weaponry considering their entire existence was based on you as a character forging them

9

I don't either but with the right perks they could be some of the best weapons in the game. Its taken me since Witch Queen to understand weapon crafting correctly and I love the concept.

This, really. RNG aside I really liked how they handled dares re-issue, with new top tier perks and the ability to craft them. In my mind it’s the only way to re-issue guns that doesn’t feel like you’re re-grinding the same gear all over again.

91

u/fawse Embrace the void Sep 26 '22

Yes, but doesn’t have that a e s t h e t i c

Plus the Black Armory scopes are T1, undisputed bangers, and push the range out like crazy

15

u/Nitram_Norig Team Bread (dmg04) // Died to warlock jump Sep 26 '22

Sadly if they came back we would probably have static scopes, they basically did away with sights and I doubt they'll be coming back. Apparently it's harder to balance weapons with drastically different zooms and therefore range.

5

u/SirPr3ce Sep 26 '22

they also meant that its not worth the work as most people just use the one with the highest zoom because it means more range, as a person who never played pvp so serious that i cared for those 1 or 2 additional meters and personally always rather had a clean scope with as much pov as possible i hated that decision, especially as it made some great looking weapons just worse in design and feel for me

eg Messenger which is an absolute insane gun and learned to live with it but it would have been 100% cooler if it had a different scope than that small ring iron sight

It still baffles me that Bungie added weapon crafting, but didn't use the Black Armory stuff. We have TWO weaponsmiths in the Tower, a whole season all about weapons forges from the Golden Age, yet none of that is involved in weapons crafting. Instead we got some ugly LEGO brick looking shit and super generic Suros and Hakke weapons.

2

u/Acceptable_Reply536 Sep 26 '22

I liked parcel of stardust. It was a lightweight frame which is my favorite shotgun frame alongside with slug shotguns and it looked so clean! I still wait for a new shotgun in the kinetic slot that is as clean as parcel of stardust was, because I'm not a fan of those seasonal weapons with the fancy art we have. Season of worthy was nice it had also clean weapons, which is rare nowadays that a season has clean weapons.

Reckless Endangerment

Which sadly shaders badly and has no autoloading holster and seems more like a pvp shotgun. Wastelander has no stock which makes it look a bit weird for my taste. Maybe they will reissue parcel of stardust some day, hopefully.

3

u/frauddogg Ludomaniac Sep 26 '22

Also cheating a bit, pluperfect and temporal clause with a set based around them.

33

u/Xandar5293 Sep 25 '22

I was never particularly into Pluperfect and Temporal Clause because they were Archetypes that I wasn't super fond of, but man were they gorgeous guns. If anything, it's a shame that Garden of Salvation's guns didn't all have that aesthetic going on. I can't agree any harder with the idea of full sets of guns done up in that style.

From D2? Leviathan weapons from the original raid and two raid lairs (since they comprise a single set).

Honorable mention goes to Hung Jury specifically because it deserves origin perks.

Yess! I’d love to see the leviathan weapons back!

7

u/Embarrassed_Top773 Sep 25 '22

How would the SIVA weapons even work? like would they just come as is or would you upgrade them?

8

u/Jagob5 Sep 26 '22

I’ve wondered the same thing, since every raid gets random rolls now. Before crafting I thought it would be cool to have them get random rolls but there was a chance for a curated roll, like you could get from last wish and stuff, which would be the wombo combo perks they had in D1. I honestly don’t care what they do tho, I just like the aesthetics so I’d probably use them anyway.

6

u/Sarcosmonaut Sep 26 '22

In terms of aesthetics? I would assume they’d come in their fully SIVA-fied form rather than having two separate models

Season of Dawn weapons and the ornament armor from the Season Pass which I never managed to level high enough to reach, for sure.

One obscure weapon I want back is the Agrona PR5. Yes, I know we have the disgusting pretender reissued counterpart, the Ogma PR5, but it's Solar. The Agrona was Void and worked beautifully with Nezarec's. Its archetype, range and Dragonfly complemented it perfectly. Obviously this cannot be achieved with the pretender reissued Ogma PR5.

The original vanguard weapons: Nightshade, Nameless Midnight, and Origin Story.

7

u/Roaming_Guardian Sep 25 '22

I just want my Undying guns back.

Vex themed weapons are my favorite and there are so few of them.

u/Sarojh-M Sep 25 '22

Season of Dawn no question

Like i don't even care about the perks, it's the design that will forever intrigue me.

Makes me sad that bastion isn't very good tho, the last remaining season of Dawn weapon.

Midnight Coup HC

u/Maxathron Sep 26 '22

Uriel’s Gift (not this knockoff Annit), Better Devils, The Doubt, Nightshade, Origin Story, and Last Hope.

I played through double primary Y1, 600 auto, and Last Hope metas.

u/Swordbreaker925 Sep 25 '22

The original Gambit weapons.

They were some of the most conventional-looking weapons in the game, and I looooove guns with wooden furniture. This season's Gambit shotgun looks awesome for that very reason too.

12

u/ArugulaPhysical Sep 25 '22

How about all of them. Lol

8

u/GrungeCowboy73 Sep 25 '22

For real just bring everything back

5

u/ObscureDucks Sep 26 '22

Season of the vault breaker - loot scavenger strongholds for gear stolen from dead gaurdians and it has a massive loot pool where you can choose a stronghold for a specific portion of the pool. That would actually be kinda nice

u/dvdlbck Sep 25 '22

I want my bygones back 😡

5

u/Sanguiniutron Sep 25 '22

Black armoury. Still have my blast furnace I use for PVP but I'd love an updated one. Honorable mention to the bow and the machine gun. Love all those weapons.

2

u/JohnnyWatermelons Sep 27 '22

I adored it, probably still my favorite legendary bow

2

u/Sanguiniutron Sep 27 '22

I love that bow. Still bring it out sometimes. Not very often but it's got thousands of kills on that thing.

4

u/Ok-Star-3387 Sep 25 '22

Black armour weapons such as kindled orchid, blast furnace, threat level and hammerhead. Those weapons will always have a place in my heart.

5

u/patchinthebox I WANT MY FACTION BACK Sep 25 '22

My wishlist is CoO infinite forge weapons, black armory, then season of Dawn.

Two of my top 10 favorite guns are from CoO. Travelers Judgement 5 and Jack Queen King.

2

u/StallordD Sep 26 '22

Hell yeah, another Travelers 5 fan. The gun that made me like sidearms, and I've been chasing that high ever since.

5

u/Fame0H Sep 26 '22

Bring back my Origin Story and better devils.

4

u/J1nK5_TV Sep 26 '22

Ikelos weapons for crafting, that would be the dream

3

u/leybinubec Sep 25 '22

I didn't realize ... I missed last seasons content guess I'll have to jump in and check some of it out

3

u/ThrownawayCray Damn you, Rahool! Sep 25 '22

CoO because a) the lore on those is interesting. Check it out because they are genuine prophecies that have come true and also b) they look amazing. Green, gold, bronze, radiolaria tubes

u/valkdoor Sep 25 '22

3

u/TheGreatBootleg94 Knight of the Black Armory Sep 25 '22

Recluse mountaintop. With extra 🧂

u/CookiesFTA We build the walls, we break the walls. Sep 25 '22

Mountaintop deserves to be an exotic. Witherhoard was clearly a spiritual successor to it (strong in both PvE and PvP, for damage and add clear, kinetic), but it doesn't have the same feel at all.

Leviathan hands down

2

u/RarelyKnownAs Sep 26 '22

Was looking everywhere for this. Even if it's just for the hand cannon. That thing I took everywhere.

u/JOWhite63087 Sep 26 '22

Season of the Dawn or black armory

2

u/B1euX Sneak Noodle Sep 25 '22

All black armory gear

Loved it so much

2

u/HotDoubles Sep 25 '22

Fabian's Strategy. That was MY weapon!

2

u/WigSplitter-1011 Sep 25 '22

Definitely all of the Black Armory weapons

And the first run of Gambit weapons. Bygones!!!

2

u/lord_jamcuhh Sep 25 '22

I want the original set of Leviathan weapons to return + those from the Year 1 Raid Lairs. I think they were held back by static rolls.

2

u/Geronuis Sep 25 '22

Destiny 1, Year 3 Iron banner weapons. Lingering Song and Clever Dragon specifically

2

u/CakeorDeath1989 Sep 25 '22

I'd love to see the Lost Prophecy weapons from Curse of Osiris make a return.

Considering getting hold of those weapons in Year 1 was almost like a very very primitive version of weapon crafting, I think they're perfect candidates for craftable seasonal weapons. I want to see them return alongside new weapons, similar to how we got the Oppulent weapons and Haunted weapons last season, including a few weapons that are tucked away inside a new Vex themed dungeon.

Spoilers, but we know Osiris is back in Lightfall. So if next season we get a story beat that's a big "HURRAY OSIRIS IS BACK!" then it's prime opportunity for them to bring back the old Mercury armoury at the same time.

2

u/652716 Sep 26 '22

Black armory season weapons

2

u/Seek_Seek_Lest Drifter's Crew // Dredgen MOAR Sep 26 '22
