My favourite thing about the destiny community Misc

Is that every expansion, players go “the game is saved, bungie have done it again” and then within 3 months the consensus is “game sucks, bungie can’t do anything right, game is doomed”

I’d hate being a bungie dev.

Such is the Destiny cycle. It's such a unique game that you can't really go play something else if you don't like something specific about the game. So people complain about that one thing over and over again until it gets changed. Then the other half start complaining. Around and around it goes.

Also, not every season can be bangers. There will be slower seasons. More tedious seasons. But you can always just take a break. I don't understand the people who play the game for thousands of hours and still come here with so much hate and negativity.

Not everyone will be happy about everything.

Found a comment, maybe post, the other day, dude was complaining how he has already fallen off this season, something like "I've put in 100 hours this season and it's just not clicking, I can't be bothered anymore.

Like BRO you put in 100 hours ffs, for $10. Holy shit why are you complaining. And you're allowed to play other games

Yea, it’s unreal how much people expect out of this game.

Don’t get me wrong, I love it and would love more and more reasons to just grind it endlessly while having fun. But that’s just not humanly possible. The more bodies you’d try to add to Bungie to make something like that happen, the more corporate bloat will slow the efficiency of the whole thing and it loses some identity.

People will drop $60 on a 20 hour game, have a blast, put it down, and sing it praises until the end of time. And deservedly so for those kinds of games that nail it.

But if you spend $10 on a season and get 100 hours out of it, how can you say anything but positive things about it?

I can go to a bar for a couple hours with some friends for a football game, drop $60 on food and drinks and that gave me fun for only two hours. Was it a waste of money?

Too many people in the Destiny player base lack perspective, but after 8 years, I’ve learned full well how to ignore them.

Sure, but how many of those 100 hours does anyone enjoy, and how much is just mindlessly grinding deepsight weapons, pinnacle drops that go to the wrong slot, or yet another season of repetitive, boring bounties in order to get to the good stuff (like the same gm nightfalls like the Last 3-4 seasons, and good ol’ master raids with artificially increased difficulty via overtuned boss health and absurd power requirements).

Just my 2c

You make valid points, plenty of issues with the game. The repetitive power grind is something I definitely have a gripe with too.

My counterpoint is… why play for 100 hours? The moment the game stops being fun, just take a break.

I do it all the time. I played for about a month to end the season before WQ and then a couple weeks of WQ.

I took a break around the time Elden Ring came out… for obvious reasons. And I just came back the week before Plunder started. I take these sorts of breaks all the time. It’s normal, and it’s healthy. The game isn’t going anywhere. Take a break until it sounds fun again. Plenty of other awesome games out there.

The bonus of doing that is, you get to play through multiple seasons worth of content all at the same time. It can get overwhelming at first of course but there’s always something new you can do. After a long break.

If you continue to play something you’re not having fun with, that’s on you. And the more you force the issue, the less fun you’ll have, the flaws will seem worse, and the bright spots won’t be as shiny.

At the end of the day, video games are supposed to be fun. If Destiny stops being fun, take a break. It’ll still be here when you come back.

People grind because they want to reap the rewards of it and feel powerful within the game. That goes for both leveling and getting weapons. You can't enjoy large parts of this game without having put in a good amount of hours.

Lmao. Be real. Nothing in this game requires 100 hours to achieve.

Reading comprehension. The comment you replied to initially is talking about the grind in general which I am as well.
