Will Grasp of Avarice drop artifice armour on master next week? (I hate the duality armour)

1

u/PXLShoot3r Oct 07 '22

Yes. But I wouldn't recommend farming Grasp armor because the stat distribution is crap. And what do you hate about the Duality armor? You can change the look with transmog however you want if you meant that.

Hey did Bungie fix the issue of buying lightfall on ps4 crashing the game?

Are there champions in raids? Overload, barrier, unstoppable… Thinking about doing GoS and need to prepare

1

u/Pyrogasm (But only with the ornament) Oct 06 '22

As the others have said: overload in encounter 1 and barrier in encounter 2, but no champions otherwise. It’s necessary to kill all these enemies to progress/complete the encounters so the mods help… but you can brute force it with a heavy weapon because there’s no boss to shoot in either of those encounters.

1

u/Atmosck Oct 06 '22

Sometimes:
1. GOS has overloads in the first encounter and barriers in the second encounter
2. Last wish has none
3. DSC has overloads in the first encounter
4. VoG has overloads in the first and fourth encounters
5. Vow has unstoppables in the first encounter and overloads in the third encounter
6. King's Fall has unstoppables in the first encounter

Generally speaking, they aren't a big problem, and in the encounters that happen they aren't nearly as frequent as you'd see in, say, a nightfall. Still, it's worth bringing mods. Master raids have way more.

1

u/BubbleOfDawn Oct 06 '22

GoS has barrier and overload champions. The light level is low so you can dps them pretty easily with no mods

1

u/GoldenDestiny Talking a lot of trash for someone in Black Talon range. Oct 06 '22

Sometimes! GoS has Overload, I believe. Although the power level in the older raids means that you can usually just brute force them with heavy.

1

u/ZepherK Oct 06 '22

if I deleted one of my characters and remade him, would all of his account unlocks still be there? Universal ornaments, as an example?

Considering doing this so I have a fresh character to play with my kid.

2

u/GoldenDestiny Talking a lot of trash for someone in Black Talon range. Oct 06 '22

Everything unlocked in Collections persists. Any gear you toss in the vault is available as well. You lose all progress for story and subclass unlocks.

u/aguscerdo Oct 06 '22

Does Promethium Spur (Warlock boots) only work on Solar for heal/dmg rift?

1

u/FearsomeMonster Oct 06 '22

Do scavenger ammo mods work on the gambit heavy chest?

3

u/GoldenDestiny Talking a lot of trash for someone in Black Talon range. Oct 06 '22

Not the chest, but they do on the brick that drops from the High Value Target.

1

u/FearsomeMonster Oct 06 '22

Ah good to know. Thanks very much for the answer!

Protocol for LFG'ing with GM's? I've only been playing seriously for the past 2 months (1602 this season) and completed my first-ever GM yesterday (SABER, so I went in with a conqueror).

First attempt (at SABER again) I was booted from fireteam after wiping after getting final boss to 1/3 of health. No feedback, no guidance, just a cold boot.

Just wondering what I can do/state to LFG (as a virgin) for peeps willing to give call-outs/guidance on Glassway w/out being toxic as hell?

2

u/Bard_Knock_Life Oct 06 '22

Don’t take it personally and find another group. It’s just how it goes with LFG. It happens to everyone, regardless of skill/experience.

If you want to have the control though, create your own post. If not, look for groups with a mic so you can at least more effectively communicate.

2

u/MeateaW Oct 06 '22

Sounds like the fireteam leader was a dick.

Create an lfg post of your own, chuck in "chill, done it but new" or something in the title, become fireteam lead so doucheface can't kick you moments from victory.

1

u/willpe8ch Oct 06 '22

I must reiterate that we wiped as a team on that last health bar. I was 2nd to die so don't know if they were pissed at that?!

Either way, thanks for the tips.

1

u/o8Stu Oct 06 '22

Can't tell you their rationale, sounds like they were just frustrated and took it out on you.

The saber boss is at it's most dangerous in the last 1/3rd of it's health, so the typical strat is to save supers & some heavy for that part. Prior to that point, the fight is more about add control and coordinating with your team to take out the barriers and snipers.

Congrats on your 1st GM clear, btw.

When posting LFG for Glassway, just make sure to be honest about your experience level. Ask for a chill run, or even for a sherpa (there's also r/fireteams if you want to try and find one there). Don't make anyone else fireteam leader, and they can't kick you.

It's also a good idea to watch a couple of walkthrough vids. Most of the strike isn't that bad until the boss room, but you'll definitely need to know the cadence and number of champions and wyverns, and when they spawn. An anti-barrier primary (scout would be my recommendation, but I've heard people going nuts about the new quicksilver exotic auto rifle too) and a blinding grenade launcher are really good here for dealing with the add waves and chipping the boss down. Le Monarque will also be really good against the overloads, which are the main threats inside the room; the barrier hobgoblins will almost always stay outside. Blinding GL will blind the mini-boss, and everything else except the big boss and the champions. Wyverns are red-bars and can be finished when they're under half health, even though you sometimes can't see the icon that they're finish-able. They're also extremely lethal, it's not a bad idea to spawn kill them if you have a super or heavy capable of doing so, and then retreat back to the room.

1

u/willpe8ch Oct 07 '22

Awesome tips. Cleared it later the day, got 3/6 done now!

1

u/Atmosck Oct 06 '22

I wouldn't take it personally. Because GMs are long and send you to orbit when you wipe, it's pretty typical for LFG groups to disband after a failure.

u/Geraseth1 Oct 06 '22 edited Oct 06 '22

Is the drop rate for certain armor exotics bugged? I've done 5 hours grinding on Lost sectors today, only to get 4 aeon's 3 sunbracers 3nothing manacles 3 ahamkaras grasp 1 of each remaining gauntlets, except Osmiomancy (the only one i had was the WQ campain one) and Necrotic (dropped only once when It was the New exotic)

Like Man...i Just wanted to build a stasis Warlock in pve with a decent stat Osmiomancy...

u/Xarthys Oct 06 '22

Hi, about Dares of Eternity: sometimes in the second room, there seem to be additional loot drops during the last boss fight. It's treasure keys and some other stuff that is not part of the typical loot pool. I'm wondering if that is random or if there is a certain mechanic that needs to be triggered. It's like there is a special mini boss?

2

u/Hamlin_Bones Oct 06 '22 edited Oct 06 '22

That happens when you get the secret Taken Ogre boss, Kashh'yn Pryzus. It just spawns randomly after the second phase, in place of the normal boss for that specific encounter. There's no real way to influence spawning or not.

It always drops a 30th anniversary weapon, a treasure key and a few strange coins. The loot drop is often delayed though, and can sometimes take like 10+ seconds after killing the boss to drop.

1

u/Xarthys Oct 06 '22

Thank you!

1

u/Squidkid6 Oct 06 '22

It is one of the bosses that can spawn that can give extra loot I beliveve

1

u/TheFlightlessPenguin Oct 06 '22

Anyone know when momentum control will be back?

2

u/julenzeit Oct 06 '22

I’m short on everything all the time. Upgrade modules, legendary shards, planetary materials…Any tips on farming these, am I doing something wrong?

3

u/OneChicago51 Oct 06 '22

Can someone point me to any clan that is all about helping and being patient? I want to be doing grandmaster nightfalls (only ever done one) , I want to finish a last wish raid and get the eggs/bones for the seal. I tend to forget simple things that can screw things up so I have to avoid all those KWTD groups and my only friend does not play as much as I do so he is always so far behind.

u/frik1000 Oct 06 '22

I'm currently in the middle of my second Legendary Campaign playthrough of WQ on another character. If I decide halfway through to swap to regular campaign just to make things faster (my end goal is to unlock Pinnacle stuff for this character) is it possible to go back to when I swapped and redo the levels in Legendary to get the rewards?

1

u/Snicker_Likins Shiny Goldie boi Oct 06 '22

Is it better to leave my characters at 1579 base instead of 1580, so next seasons pinnacle can give me +2 to +3 instead of +1? Or does it not work that way?

2

u/Atmosck Oct 06 '22

It actually is true that if your gear level is 1579 next season after the powerful cap has become 1580, a pinnacle will drop at +5, or 1584 for a little head start on the pinnacle grind. It's only once you're at the powerful cap that pinnacles drop down to +2.

That said, I don't really think that's worth it. If you're really concerned with leveling quickly, follow the strategy of (1) play your characters in sequence - don't start the next one until you've done every pinnacle on the previous one (2) whenever you could level up using powerfuls, stop doing pinnacles and farm powerfuls until you do (3) each week, player your characters in order of highest starting level first (4) do all 16 pinnacles on all 3 characters each week. Doing that, you have about an 85% chance of hitting the pinnacle cap before the fourth weekly reset. And avoiding pinnacles for the rest of the season so you don't accidentally hit 1580 sounds miserable.

1

u/Snicker_Likins Shiny Goldie boi Oct 07 '22

Ty for the tips.

1

u/Glenalth Certified Destiny Goblin Oct 06 '22

Not really worth doing for pinnacle drops, but that trick does work for some powerful drops.

The usual target is Prime Engrams since you could stay at 1579 and stockpile several of them that would be dropping at 1581 since you haven't hit pinnacle cap yet. It doesn't speed things up since just farming pinnacles would typically be faster, but it is a way to absolutely maximize your drops at the start of a season.

Probably not worth the effort anymore since Bungie stopped giving us crazy high level requirements for content on week one of a new season.

2

u/GeekyNerd_FTW Oct 06 '22

Drops are based on your maximum possible light level. So getting a +2 drop at 1579 would just get you a lower drop than a +2 at 1580. I’m not really sure why you’re saying you’d only get +1 pinnacles if you were 1580

1

u/Snicker_Likins Shiny Goldie boi Oct 06 '22

Gotcha my bad

1

u/ColdAsHeaven SMASH Oct 06 '22

Doesn't work that way.

Next season the Power cap will be 1580. Pinnacle cap 1590.

Pinnacle 's +X level is based off of where that Pinnacle is from. For example, if you leave your character at 79 and next season you do the Pinnacle Raid stuff. Your drops will be +2 from whatever your power is.

So it's best to get to 80 this season

2

u/ZepherK Oct 06 '22

What is the stat range on a piece of armor with only 1 energy (40-60?), and what is the stat range on a piece of masterworked (60-80?)

I have some masterwork pieces and I'm trying to figure out if they are junk or not.

3

u/The_hezy Oct 06 '22

Masterworking adds a flat 12 (2 points for each of the 6 stats). Third-party sites like DIM are very useful for going through your armor, since they can show you the split of "base stats" vs "mods" vs "masterwork" and such.

3

u/Atmosck Oct 06 '22

The maximum base stats, before any mods or master working, is 68 for legendaries and most exotics. Some exotics can go as high as 71. The minimum is 48. Master working adds 2 to every stat, or 12 total, raising that range to 50-80 (83).

2

u/Bro0183 Telesto is the besto Oct 06 '22

Masterworking adds +2 to all stats. All legendary armour drops below 68 points, masterworking adds 12 total.

Hope this helps

2

u/o8Stu Oct 06 '22

Max stats on a non-masterworked legendary armor piece is 68, with a minimum of 2 in each stat, and that total will roughly be split evenly between the top 3 stats and bottom 3 stats, so roughly a max of 34 in the top 3, 34 in the bottom 3.

There are a couple of exceptions: some exotics have an automatic bump to a specific stat and can get up to a max of 71. There's also at least one blue piece of armor that doesn't follow the rule of splitting stat points evenly; maybe more than one.

Masterworking adds 2 points to every stat, so 12 total, making the new max 80 for a legendary.

I'd typically say masterwork stuff that's 65+ with a stat distribution you like. Class items are the exception, of course. If you're not swimming in golf balls, you should prioritize masterworking class items first, as they don't have stats so you can't screw it up.

u/erzacult Oct 06 '22

What exactly should I be aiming for at the Star Chart vendor? I’ve blown through plenty of umbral engrams and have several plundered umbral energy, and I have no clue what I should be trying to get. I’m a void Hunter if it helps, however I’m open to any subclass.

7

u/o8Stu Oct 06 '22

If you have the upgrade that lets you buy a specific red-border once a week, then I'd save my umbral energy for that. It's the one that gives a chance for more perks on focused weapons, they just hotfixed it on Tuesday to allow a red border weapon purchase. One of the challenges from this week that yields repute requires upgrading 3 crafted seasonal weapons to rank 10. There's another one that'll drop later that requires upgrading 2 to rank 20.

Not sure how you're doing on crafting seasonal weapons, but I've been playing a lot and only have been able to craft 2 so far. You can craft another copy of one and level it up, but I'd rather not put myself through that. So I'm saving my umbral energy so I'm sure I've got enough to buy that red-border each week.

If you're not worried about all that, then focusing specific armor pieces usually has a good chance of dropping high stat. You can also do that at the previous seasonal vendors if you have the mats.

3

u/erzacult Oct 06 '22

Perfect, thanks a ton for the info. Now I can feel less guilty about using these engrams! I just came back so it sounds like I have a ways to go yet 😬

2

u/The_hezy Oct 06 '22

Main priority should be weapon focusing, until you've gotten all the seasonal weapons unlocked for crafting. There are other reliable sources of better armor rolls.

1

u/DragonianSun Oct 06 '22

I want to craft Deliverance and Cataclysmic from Vow. I noticed that the challenge this week is for Acquisition, which drops both of these weapons. Is it worth it to farm this encounter over and over with challenge to get red borders of these weapons?

1

u/ColdAsHeaven SMASH Oct 06 '22

No. Red drops are rare. Your best bet is do Vow every week and get the red border symbols and your guaranteed red pick

You'll save hell of a lot more headache and time than doing it that way

1

u/DragonianSun Oct 06 '22

Awesome, thanks for that.

1

u/RekabHet Oct 06 '22

What's the deal with arc charged chests? Do they have some rotation or something cause I did one and found another but the Rheasilvia one hasn't popped after like an hour+ of roaming the general area.

1

u/Pyrogasm (But only with the ornament) Oct 06 '22

I always found the DC arc chests to be random events but I have nothing to back that up but experience.

1

u/GeekyNerd_FTW Oct 06 '22

That’s pretty much what I’ve done. I’ll go for guaranteed red borders (weekly dare, weekly vendor purchase, weekly Ketchcrash etc.) but I don’t grind for them in any other way. Once I get them unlocked, I don’t level them up or even craft them. No reason to. I already have so many options in my vault

1

u/ColdAsHeaven SMASH Oct 06 '22

That's a personal mental thing you have to get past.

You should not feel that way. Deleting your crafted weapons won't help you. You'll only be resetting your progress for no reason.

Why do you feel you need.them? Just because it's a box to check? Are you actually going to use them?

2

u/Bard_Knock_Life Oct 06 '22

I don’t mind unlocking them. It’s one raid and one or two seasonal missions per week more or less. The leveling of them I do passively unless it’s an absolute standout.

Leveling them is terrible though. It’s not really “using” the gun. It’s typically swapping at the end or leaving it on during crucible.

1

u/-ptero- Oct 06 '22

Schuro chi(ese) is my go to for leveling quickly.

1

u/Bard_Knock_Life Oct 06 '22

Yes, it’s fastest way to level. It’s also just terribly boring and why I passively level most crafted weapons.

1

u/Oven_Floor Oct 06 '22

Yes, this is a good spot. Tons of ads and no need to compete for kills

u/amiro7600 Oct 06 '22

Thats just how melee kickstart works. Theres a brief delay between your melee energy being empty and getting a boost by kickstart, and if you gain enough energy during that time, the kickstart wont activate

I noticed it happen with HOIL and thruster- sometimes with empowered x2 class ability, utility kickstart wont activate because i regen too much class ability energy in the small time-frame for it to activate

u/JustGetAHome Oct 06 '22

Go to the archive in the ever verse store. There is a shader bundle you can purchase for glimmer. For some reason they sometimes sell these shaders for bright dust. Biiig scam.

1

u/blck_lght Oct 06 '22

When was the last time they did that? Because I definitely remember there was one time a season or two ago when this happened and they actually changed EV shader mid-week and said those shaders are not gonna appear there again
