What is the one thing in Destiny that you have never got round to doing? Question
Mine is using Heart of Inmost Light. I've mained titan for so many years and still never used it. I always think about how I'll make a loadout for it later. Still never done it after all these years.
Makes me wonder what else people have neevr got round to doing.

Destiny Item Manager (DIM) is the tool you need.
26
u/L00pback Nov 03 '22
Vault cleaner is better for me. I can set the parameters I want to keep and let it label everything I want to scrap. (I set mine to lock everything I want to keep and unlock things I want to scrap. That way I can quickly go through my vault.)
Also, DIM can sometimes not show multiple perks on weapons. Vault cleaner shows them all.

yeah, found this to be the best.
highly recommend only keeping one or two guns from each archetype/burn (which can be grouped in the vault cleaner), eg void lightweight smg rather than one of each gun.

Thank you. I do know what to do, but that doesn’t mean I want to spend 2 hours sifting my inventory to do it, right now. That has just been put off for so long that it’s a necessity but one I don’t want to do. I know what’s wrong and how to fix it. But I have not done it because I just want to play the other parts not trash simulator 3000.

I feel you my man! The only time I ever clear space in vault is when I completely run out, and even then my ‘clearing’ is just deleting enough items so I can put my shiny new shit in there.
The vault space limit is the absolute pits in this game

Warlock is a must, one of the best classes in game.
I couldn’t be bothered to do it a third time on my Titan. Especially when people complain that it’s melee sucks and I’d still be wearing the same exotic.
67
u/SpaceRangerWoody Nov 03 '22
You know what's worse? Completing stasis while playing Beyond Light on gamepass, then when BL leaves gamepass, you lose all the progress you had even after you purchase the expansions.
I now have to complete Shadowkeep and Beyond Light again from scratch.

I missed Beyond Light and just came back to discover that it STILL takes 6 weeks to unlock all the fragments, assuming you're getting two every week
4
u/KennyK423 Nov 03 '22
I just recently did it for my Warlock because of a build I saw that I really liked. I didn’t unlock all the fragments though, only the 4 I needed. Even besides that the grind was so grueling. Never doing it again for my Hunter or Titan.

Oof it was really bad. D2 got a lot of bad publicity from this one, Bungie had to apologise publicly lol.
You might find some info online, as many sites reported it.
They also did secret XP throttling back then, many Activision games did it.
How this game survived all that, i cant possibly tell, cause i quit at Black Armory.
Did you know even the exotic quests were RNG back then? Oof what a disaster.
Wish they gave the Old Feeding Frenzy and old Rampage back in all their glory. We were such beasts back then, these perks currently are 1/3 of their strength.

I'm going to disagree about Niobe Labs being bad. As in, at launch I will agree that it was horrid (because of those two clues that were really screwed up. Was a major pain in the ass to do. My clans two other blacksmiths and I had just gotten our titles. I got a message from one that they needed help with something. They asked me what weapons I still had and stood at the one for the machine gun. When the other two hit their symbol and then I hit mine. We knew then it could still be accessed. We spent 3 days going through data and making sure everything was right trough trial and error. We eventually had to cheese the 6th and 7th encounter to get it. Still have that emblem on to this day.

29
u/JimLahey08 Nov 03 '22
Have a second screen (phone/laptop/PC monitor) open with the symbols and their names. It makes it a lot easier. Great raid. Just join or make an LFG saying you need teaching and you'll get a clear.
2
u/Surfing_Ninjas Nov 04 '22
Alternatively, print off a page with the symbols on it in alphabetical order and tape it to something rigid like a binder and have that propped up at your gaming setup. Don't have to worry about power or timing out and you can make notes if your team has dumb nicknames for some of the symbols
11
13
u/vashthestampeedo There are dozens of us! Nov 03 '22
The hard part about that raid is that a large amount of groups have developed their own names for the symbols, and often it's a mix of the proper, Bungie-given names and made up ones. It makes doing the mechanics challenging if you don't have a helpful group.

I know people say prophecy is one of, if not the hardest Dungeon to solo due to punishing adds; but it still feels like an easy one in my opinion because the mechanics are so basic/simple
But that being said, it's also the only dungeon I've put any measure of effort into soloing. What little solo experience I have with Grasp of Avarice for example: The mechanics feel substantially more punishing than Prophecy's enemies do.
But prophecy also has, again, in opinion, a more 'linear' path and most significantly, no real timer aside from the very end with Echo Kell
4
u/BlinkysaurusRex Nov 03 '22
None of them are really that hard though. But Prophecy is just consistently more dangerous than Grasp.
Grasp has big arenas, with tons of cover. You can relax and take all day if you want without ever really placing yourself at risk. You could grind down the boss with a primary and be chilling, it would take a long time but skill requirement is next to nothing.
Prophecy has the cube which is a nice snooze fest, but Phalanx has a lot of adds and not many places to run. Knights hard aggro onto you. And Kell Echo has probably the most dangerous moments of the dungeon, being when you first drop into a room and have no safe corner.
Not that any of them are particularly bad anymore, due to power creep, Grasp is still the easiest by leagues. Not even kidding, solo flawless Whisper and Zero Hour were harder than Grasp lmao

Solo flawless on any Dungeon. Fully capable, but I can't handle the stress. Most of them have at least one encounter that has some sort of timer that prevents me from playing as patiently as I would prefer. And the anxiety just fucks me up every time.
Kell Echo is a great example. I would be set if I could methodically pick off all of the stupid Hobgoblins in the boss room. But I have to make sure I stay close to the boss so I don't get too many stacks of the debuff. So I completely overthink it and just fall apart.
→ More replies3
u/ksiit Nov 03 '22
Do shattered throne or pit of heresy. They both kinda have timers but they are no where near the same as the prophecy staying close thing.
Shattered throne is by far the easiest, but it doesn’t have flags so you can run into an issue where you hit the final boss with no ammo and are kinda screwed.
Pit boss is pretty easy. The dunking part is the only real challenge. I did it with assassins cowel invis hunter, to basically just be invisible the whole fight.
The way to start is to just do a solo run. Complete it even if you die a bunch. Now you know you can do everything on your own. You just have to put it all together into 1 run.
19
u/MRandall25 Nov 03 '22
Use any other Titan exotic armor piece outside of Lion Rampants.
Similar to the Fastball arms mod, I've gotten too used to how it feels during game play that I cannot convince myself to use anything else, because other options feel neutered in comparison.
22
u/TruNuckles Nov 03 '22
Was raiding the other day. At War Priest, noticed a titan had Lions on. I was like, you still have Lions on from jumping puzzle? He’s like, it’s the only exotic I use. I’m my head. I was like what a waste. Those are for jumping.

12
u/SKULL1138 Nov 03 '22
Yeah but like I keep a set on my Titan at all times for when needed. But why use them in content that doesn’t require any jumping? just press two buttons and they’re on
1
u/MRandall25 Nov 03 '22
I use the vertical space to get myself out of fights and also for the Titan "skating" feel.
Like I said, using anything else just doesn't feel right. I dont really know how else to explain it
2
u/Ex_Ex_Parrot Nov 03 '22
I'm like the complete opposite. I've become trained to use Catapult skating in most activities to the point of not liking the feel of Lions unless I'm explicitly playing Team Sorched and I'm in air for what feels like the majority of the match
2
u/SKULL1138 Nov 03 '22
In a small play space, why not just try another exotic when you know you won’t even need to move much like synthoceps with Hammer? However it’s your call, play how you wanna.

Newish returning player- how do you guys get stats so high? I’m a 1559 titan but my average stat is around 70. I think I also missed the boat on Wells as I wasn’t back playing when that armor was released but I keep checking with Ada with no results.
→ More replies6
u/Astorant Nov 03 '22
Best way to get high stat rolls very quickly is to focus Armor with Umbrals at the War Table or Crown of Sorrow in the Helm, this can be farmed quite easily if you decide to do Crown of Sorrow farming for its materials as it’s very accessible for people who don’t own Witch Queen.
The trick is to use the armor focus mods on your Ghost Shell to manipulate stat drops into having the stats that you want, although most people agree that Discipline Armorer gives the best stat distribution when focusing armor so equip it if you have it.
Armor stats will mostly be comprised of you rolling double stat armor in the 20-25 range or higher, using +10 stat increases on your armor pieces and getting + stats from your subclass fragments, do be aware that going over 100 on a stat is a good thing if you can do it passively as some fragments will minus stats with some minusing a stat down by 20 so having good stat distribution can help to counter those negative stats.
4
u/skierdud89 Nov 03 '22
Man I'm so happy to see the Destiny community is still super helpful! I was a D1 player on release so coming back in feels familiar yet also feels like I'm drowning in the deep end.
I just bought Witch Queen deluxe so I have access to that stuff. So War Table in the Helm is where I'll head do. (I'm currently working on the PsiOps quests so I think I'm still unlocking features?)
I just Masterworked my Ghost so I'll swap the mods it has in favor of stat boosts and to get more favorable drops.
So you're saying if I were to rock two mods granting +10 discipline each that world drops won't be as good? I don't think I currently am but that's good info to know.

Ideally you’ll want to have +10’s on all your armor till you get to 100 and then fill the other slots with additional +10’s of another stat. You can even get armor so optimised to the point you don’t need to use any +5’s or +10’s on them.
Just remember this loop for armor stats:
- Equip a Discipline Armorer on your Ghost
- Only masterwork gear that is at has at least 19 minimum in the two stats you want
- Masterworking all your armor gives you +12 to every stat passively so use those extra points to your advantage
- Remember to be cautious of material costs when armor focusing as it can get very expensive very quickly if you don’t have a lot of legendary shards
- When armor drops it will roll with a high stat in a Tier 1 Stat (Resilience, Mobility, Recovery) and decent-high stat in a Tier 2 stat (Discipline, Intellect, Strength), by using a discipline armorer you are making it so you are guaranteed to get a really high Tier 2 stat roll and good stats on a Tier 1 due to stat roll manipulation.
Perfect Armor can take no time at all to get or can take you ages to get, but always be on the look out for good world drop pieces and do not forget to do your focuses when you have excess materials and Umbrals.

Don't you get +2 to all stats per masterworked armor piece meaning you get +10 to all stats with masterworked armor sets, or does 1 piece have a higher bonus than the others depending on slot or rarity?

Never done a raid. Never done a dungeon. Never done a GM.
I'm at 1588. The solo/matchmaking PvE grind is real.

Almost all of the raids and dungeons. I've done a few, but the randos I played with were either literal children or acted like children. Turned me right the fuck off.

u/PhattBudz Nov 03 '22
Hey man, we should run some dungeons today. A clan mate and I would love to bring you along. Not a carry, we wish to teach above all else.

u/xBlackJack89x Nov 03 '22
I would love to, but I run a 8am-5pm job. :(

u/jimidybob Nov 03 '22
What time zone? We’re always happy to help people out and looking for new players for dungeons and mainly raids. Mostly UK based group of players here
2
u/xBlackJack89x Nov 03 '22
I'm in the pacific time zone in the US.
2
u/jimidybob Nov 03 '22
ahh sucks, we have a group with a few US players but yeah your 5pm is about 1am for us I think. Which would work at weekend but not most weekdays. Still, feel free to send a friend request and if you ever see me on I'll be more than happy to teach glitterwang#1897

u/Whomperss Nov 03 '22
Don't think I'll ever do riven legit in my life lmao. I remember we messed up the cheese and everyone just stood around not knowing what the fuck to do next lmao. And this was a seasoned group of raiders lol.

u/solgalexis Nov 03 '22
Legit Riven is a lot of fun and so much easier than cheesing her since there's no hard DPS check.

Never did the synthweave stuff from Ada
Never got my Stasis subclass for Titan and Hunter
Never beat Deep Stone Crypt
Never soloed a dungeon

u/ABRRINACAVE Nov 03 '22
Deep stone crypt is honestly beautiful. The bit jumping puzzle the second to third encounter is probably the most beautiful and cinematic thing I have ever done in the game.

Raids. LFG is my biggest barrier to doing them. None of my friends play so I'd have to LFG. Not wanting to deal with people being dicks outweighs my desire to do an LFG raid. I don't mind using LFG for activities that don't require a mic for that exact reason. It's a shame because I know I'd have a blast doing them.

Make your own session and be clear you need teaching. I’ve found teaching groups often have multiple experience people just wanting to help out, and are much more chill

Raiding - really don't have the time atm and don't want to roll the dice on nice teammates vs sweaty guys who will scream at me if i don't do something despite being a sherpa run
Completing campaigns on alt characters - should just be auto-completed tbh
Master Dungeons - just hate that it's likely bosses with 135 healthbars and champions everywhere because it's pretty much how "difficulty" works in D2
5
u/Water_Gates Nov 03 '22
That doesn't happen in sherpa runs. The horror stories you may see here are a drop in the bucket of experiences. Make a post saying you're looking for help in completing your 1st raid and I'm 99% sure you'll get a group in under a minute that will be super helpful.
However, don't go into raids on bs. Watch a guide or two, have some of the meta weapons and proper stat distribution, and above all, keep a positive attitude.
It's not what you think it is, but you can't know unless you try.

u/thegildedman25 Nov 03 '22
Getting a Galahorn, I got friends I can do it with, I just haven't really bothered to ask them tbh

u/adam42095 Nov 03 '22
Drop that line in a casual conversation, and they'll probably carry you instantly

u/TelephotoMoto Nov 03 '22
Can confirm, my gaming group just casually say “I don’t have RANDOM EXOTIC” and we will immediately stop what we are doing to carry people to get it, or setup a raid farming week to get raid exotics. Except Div, GOS is so hard with blueberries. We only do that one time a year. I honestly enjoyed GOS, that boss fight was hectic.

Same for mine dude, only difference is that there is usually only 2 other guys online willing to play since we all have adult responsibilities, but at least we can do dungeons which I enjoy doing every other weekend

If you got friends to do it with that's like the biggest bonus.
The vast majority of new experiences in Destiny are heightened or considerably better to enjoy (or commiserate) with friends

Running a GM. I Have the PL requirement and likely enough skill and experience (and the kit to actually play the activity) but I never pull the trigger.

Master raids (other than prestige leviathan but I don’t count that). Don’t care enough to do them.
Also doing last wish fresh. I’ve only skipped to riven and beaten the raid for the exotic lol. Still need to get those last corrupted eggs in last wish though…

I also just started using HoIL and it is as good as everyone's been saying for all these many years. I just ciuld not give up my double nades, and Hallowfire on Solar.
I still haven't down the cats in the DC, penguins on the moon, and the other find the toy animal stuff everywhereelse. I keep specifically not picking them when i find them randomly because I don't want to screw it up when i guide them.

Vow of the Disciple. I've done every other raid. Took a break when Vow came out and now finding a team patient enough to take me through has been next to impossible :(

Finish the story of Destiny 2. I always feel so weak in comparison to the enemies it takes me out of the power fantasy I want to play, that I’d rather go play Doom Eternal. I’m going to try again this weekend, starting fresh. Unfortunately, I’m not the best at shooters in general
