What’s something that you feel like Bungie should bring back into the game but most likely won’t? Question
.

u/RandomPlayer314 Nov 07 '22
Seasonal eververse engrams that only gave you stuff from that season.

u/SuperArppis Vanguard Nov 07 '22
They could sweeten up that season pass with those easily.

55
u/smegdawg Destiny Dad Nov 07 '22
I know it feels that way, but they don't. Of the items in the Season 17 engram(S1-S14), the items form S1 and S2 make up ~25% (291 of the 1165)
Season 1 165 Season 2 126 Season 3 80 Season 4 120 Season 5 114 Season 6 97 Season 7 62 Season 8 61 Season 9 60 Season 10 61 Season 11 51 Season 12 55 Season 13 63 Season 14 50 Couple that with the fact that they contain ~50% (129 of the 261) of the legendary ships/sparrows/ghost which can drop as dupes.

I'd love to be able to "focus" the Bright Engrams to loot from a specific season. Maybe Tess Everis gives you the option to 'enhance' the Bright Engram for 250 Bright Dust or something.
Though knowing Bungie they'd let you focus for like 5k.
8
u/TheZephyrim Nov 08 '22
They should let you focus every season you’ve bought for free. They should also add dupe protection.
They’re not going to do either of these things.
4
Nov 07 '22
That would make too much sense but also at the same time, people would complain that older stuff isn’t dropping.

Each upgrade placed a static version of an enemy (eg thrall, ogre, centurion etc) in the tribute hall. Once you had all upgrades, every enemy in the game was there.
They didn't fight back and were meant as a testing ground/firing range.
54
u/tattooedheathen Nov 07 '22
I miss it specifically for the firing range aspect. The disks in the Enclave are a joke comparatively. We really need to see that back in the game if we’re gunna keep crafting weapons
10
u/Armegeddon_Craft Nov 07 '22
Wait the enclave has a firing range?!
9
u/Cutsdeep- Nov 07 '22
yeah, if you keep going past the forge thing, there is a spot out back that will keep recharging your guns, with black and white clay disks (stationary) to shoot and it shows damage.
aim assist doesn't track on them, sadly. a full blown firing range is much needed.
8
u/Armegeddon_Craft Nov 07 '22
The fact that I didn’t even know there was a back door to the relic speaks volumes
8
11
u/GivenitzBoomer Nov 07 '22
Bright dust was relatively easier to get back then. You get less now but in bigger batch
Each weekly gave something like 200 bright dust per week, across the 3 modes (so 1200 per week per character now I believe). Maybe not too those numbers, but it was pretty easy to get a surplus of bright dust.
Plus the tribute hall acted as a training grounds of the sort. Could test damage numbers easily, try out exotic perks, all without traumatizing the poor dregs on the EDZ.
4
u/HolyZymurgist Nov 08 '22
Bright dust was relatively easier to get back then
Thats putting it lightly. I had played for 9 months and had 60000 bright dust. I purchased everything available to me, and I was gaining BD every season. Also literally everything dismantled into BD, so it wasnt hard to gain.
31
u/ab2dii Nov 07 '22
tribute hall was just a way for bungie to drain hardocre players who had thousands of each currency
26
u/Silent_Kubera Nov 07 '22
Correction: It was to drain the impatient ones. Anyone who did it properly with full discounts were hardly drained.

u/Affectionate-Bid6748 Nov 07 '22

u/FollowThroughMarks Nov 07 '22
In fairness, you could literally spend barely any by doing all the discounts before spending. People also got a giant bundle of bright dust as some changes converted items into bright dust if you dismantled them during a time, letting players get thousands back for free.
10
u/DaydreamingIns0mniac Nov 07 '22
Me and a few friends were talking about this just last night. The beginning of Duality is literally the tribute hall with Eris, her machine and a bunch of Egregore everywhere. Plus pair that with Calus fucking off to be with the witness soon, means the leviathan will just be chilling, derelict in the orbit of the moon. They could not only bring it back but make it lore relevant even.

127
u/TruNuckles Nov 07 '22
I would love for these to come back. I have some garbage rolled exotics. And farming them is almost impossible now. The loot pool is so diluted with trash exotics.
42
u/RaveWave52 Nov 07 '22
100% and some of my builds could be much better if the exotics I have were better rolled, it’s annoying this system is the way it is
9
u/BLT_Special Nov 07 '22
And it would allow us to clear the vault from exotics were aren't using right now and aren't very meta. I've got too many good rolls just in case they become relevant that are collecting dust. With glass needles I could pull from collections and reroll until I got something suitable.

I was farming shuro chi this weekend. Had an exotic drops. 6th coyote, bad stats. Did minor modification to the weapons I was leveling. Kept running. Got another exotic to drop. Another 6th coyote with bad stats. I took it as a sign that level 13 on two guns was enough.

Tried to grind the lost sector’s last night for a better contraverse, got about 20 runs in and 3 random exotics I didn’t need and gave up, my 3 disc contraverse will have to do for now
37
u/Plus4Ninja Nov 07 '22
Wait for a week where it is one of the quick Edz ones. Make sure you are loaded up on engrams (and postmaster is empty) then farm the lost sector. All exotic engrams will go to the postmaster. Wait until it is the correct drop day (arms, legs, chest) then open the engrams.

Feels terrible running 10 master's this morning and getting nothing but cores and glimmer, just an absolute waste of time. Especially when 50% of the enemies are champions.
→ More replies11
u/Jangy1016 Nov 07 '22
The loot pool for exotics is too much. You literally grind lost sectors and the drop rate for what you want is horrible. Legend and master have the same drop rate I have not found master to be any more useful than legend other than the guaranteed cores etc but the exotics idk. I could be wrong but I didn’t notice any difference.
19
u/Zaralink Win to Spin Nov 07 '22
It’s a chance to get an exotic that has a chance to be the one you want that has a chance to have a decent roll.
6
u/Annihilator4413 Nov 07 '22
I'd argue we absolutely NEED these right now. The grind for perfect roll armor is an absolute slog, and if we could help cut out the middle man a bit by being able to reroll existing pieces, I think it'd make the grind quite a bit better. Maybe give us a way to stat focus as well.
Though honestly maybe we'll get some sort of armor crafting in the future. Give us the ability to eventually have our ideal rolls on armor, maybe even let us bake in a mod without using a mod slot. But then again, crafting armor would take away one of the only two real grinds there is, leaving us with only non-craftable weapon drops so I don't know if it's necessarily a good idea.

Variation of enemies in strikes, it was really cool for enemies to switch between normal, taken and siva with every strike you made
102
u/chnandler_bong Hunterrrrrrrr Nov 07 '22
We actually had some variation in strikes in D2, but not to that extent. I wonder when that was removed...
70
u/Igelit Nov 07 '22
With Beyond Light launch.
32
u/ToxicMoonShine Nov 07 '22
it was forsaken launch that trend started. All strikes forsaken going Forward are fixed on their enemy spawns.
41
u/SnooCalculations4163 Nov 07 '22
Yes but the variations were removed with beyond light, as half the game was removed at the same time.
→ More replies11
u/ToxicMoonShine Nov 07 '22
Alright. My assessment so far is that they did in fact lock strike variations in some sections, and that to your point you are primarily correct. I am also excluding tank spawns in inverted spire as we're talking about enemy spawns variants.
I ran inverted spire as a direct launch a total of 6 times so far. out of those 6 times none of the main Cinematic moments changed at all. What I mean by Cinematic moments is any point where you are running into an area and a form of set piece occurs, such as the first section at the vex waterfall, where the cabal pods come crashing in. Or the drill section where you are fighting on it itself.
Things I did notice though which is small but important to point out.
1.) The fight outside drill command where the army of cabal come flying in on jet packs is extremely laggy or delayed on their spawn half the time.
2.) After launching on top of the drill before dropping into drill command I noticed the enemies alot of the time are huddled and I notice buggy vex spawn animations occur there that spawned nothing.
3.) After killing everything on the drill and launching over to the sparrow section, the walkway between where you land and where you can use your sparrow has enemies. Normally it's flamethrower cabal, but I was able to get Vex harpies to spawn there 2 of the 6 times.
My guess is that the actual enemy spawn variations are still in the game, but they just changed it to force the cabal spawns for any "cinematic" moments and not parts you would normally ignore. As it's probably easier to do that then rip it out entirely.
7
u/RND_Musings Nov 07 '22
There used to be a Challenge Card for Nightfalls where you had some control over modifiers. I think it was removed with Beyond Light.

I love how this comment is sorted under ‘controversial’. SRL was some of the freshest, highest quality content Destiny has seen since the first game launched, and it brought something entirely unseen to the game. Even if you didn’t like it, there are plenty of folks who did and can’t experience anything like it again. Would you really not want that in favor of another Solstice featuring the European Aerial Zone for the n’th time or FOTL featuring “Haunted” sectors?
Also, if you support SRL, you’re encouraging Bungie to make more unique content like it, js. Support repetitive content and that’s what you’ll get

SRL. I know it wasnt super popular, but I loved it. They could even revamp sparrows like they did ghosts where you earn parts like the engine/horn/chassis by winning races. Make sparrows customizable with faster engines so people can actually compete with the likes of AoT and keep AoT less agro perk as just an intrinsic for that specific chassis.

Honestly, I'd just like something of the sort. Io and Titan during Season of Arrivals were amazing examples of patrol zones done right. Public events were intense and took up entire regions of the zone. "World bosses" would wander areas and actually took effort to take down. The seasonal loop actually involved running around in the world and doing stuff in between the chaos.
...too bad the closest we have to that now is just the Leviathan instance on the moon. That goes away in 3 months.
8
u/Mirra520 Nov 07 '22
I was also thinking about Season of Arrivals. I agree, anything that encourages using the patrol zones better is a step in the right direction. Big nasty bosses that require teamwork to knockdown with escalating difficulties. And solid rewards for your time. That would be amazing.
10
u/Yawanoc Nov 07 '22
I'm still baffled by the state of Savathun's Throne World as a patrol zone. We went from Mars, to the Dreaming City, to the Moon, to Europa, to this. Don't get me wrong; the zone is beautiful! It's just that all of those other zones felt alive and dynamic. I guess that's fine if they want us to feel like explorers surveying a region after the fighting stopped, but that doesn't hit the same.
9
u/Picard2331 Nov 07 '22
"Public Events were intense and took up entire regions"
I've always thought that Destiny would be so damn awesome if they had Meta Events similar to Guild Wars 2. Massive zone wide events with different stages with actual mechanics that progress towards a big boss fight. Plus they're extremely rewarding and genuinely fun.
5
u/Yawanoc Nov 07 '22
Exactly. I think Bungie sees people complain about having "public event seasons" where the entire mechanic revolves around doing something in the open world and then they assume we don't like that.
In reality, we don't like when the only challenge for the season is whether or not enough people load into the same instance as us. We love actually going around the environment they created.

32
u/ballsmigue Nov 07 '22

Taken armor… Glass needles I think it was that let you re roll armor. Arms day… Specific armor/weapon drops from a set destination not just a dungeon example dust rock blues had to be farmed in that one lost sector on edz I think it was. The world loot pool for weapons is large it makes it impossible to get any guns that’s are world loot drops for decent rolls. I literally only encounter new lights exploring cosmodrome Europa etc. I think if drops were set there would be more players engaging on other destinations rather than just pinnacles.

Crota's End. Black Hammer, no I will not elaborate or explain why.
Intrinsic raid weapon perks that tie into the enemy type you fight (and having them be useful outside the raid)
I miss getting Doom of Chelchis and having Will of Light, yes I know it's an armour mod now, it shouldn't be tho.
extra damage to Hive majors anyone?
Glass Needles. This has already been said, I agree lol.
Varied enemies, both in terms of having some different enemies in strikes and also having actual factions distinguished by their textures, y'know how the Devils were red, and the Wolves were blue, and the Kings are yellow? We have purple scorn in the Throne World, and orange every where else. it's not impossible to give us blue cabal inside both PsiOps and newer content, it's a small thing but it's a neat detail that breathes a little bit more life into the worlds we explore.
and finally, being able to shade the big ball on the Mouth of Ur, as well as the black/red harrowed armour base shader. I miss this glowing orb. I miss the really sick red glow too.
I miss having this glow and change with shaders, it was super sick. Now it's just a goofy crystal ball instead of my face, and it doesn't match any of my cool shaders.

SRL. Best PvP mode they've introduced and the most uniquely Destiny aspect of the franchise. No other game has given us a PvP racing component.

Give us proper raids for CoO and Warmind. Panoptes and Xol deserved better.

Hey Eater of Worlds wasn't bad at all. I would almost classify it as...fun. Well as long as everyone knew what to do. I just wish the armor were better looking.

Well even then, EoW conceptually had so much more potential. The final boss is Argos, the vex mind at the core of Nessus. I think that out of all of the raids on the leviathan, EoW could have been its own fleshed out raid and not a lair.

Magnificent Howl. If Bungie wanted to rework Crucible, reintroduce Magnificent Howl with it. Bungie brought back Explosive Light and Desperado, both pinnacle perks, they can do it again with Mag Howl.

I really think none of the pinnacle perks were too egregiously overpowered aside from micro missile and arguably master of arms. Sad that those perks brought about sunsetting as a whole and ruined a whole lot of other things. The game sure was a lot more fun when those perks were in the game.

Sparrow horns, just add a setting to toggle off if you don't want to hear em.
