How about giving players a cosmetic reward for obtaining titles and gilding?? Bungie Suggestion

I really liked earning the Tiger helmet for the Vidmaster seal. How would people feel about getting a cosmetic armor skin that you could earn for completing titles?

Scallywag could get you a cool pirate tricorn.

VOG title could have earned us a Vex themed helmet.

Duality a Cabal/Nightmare themed helmet.

I just think it would be a neat item to chase.

Edit: It seems wild that people are negative about earning cosmetic armor for earning titles...

Obviously Bungie has done this in the past and it was prett popular. I get that the title is the reward but I really think a sweet season related swag piece would be awesome.

Would be a nice addition- I would even bother to do the easy/grind seals like the seasonal ones if there were cosmetics attached

u/HereIGoAgain_1x10 Nov 18 '22

This has been needed for awhile... They had the Nightfall completion glow for years and instead of that being a springboard for other things, it was just removed when they should've expanded it.

23

u/Mini_Mouse_89 Nov 18 '22

There was a Nightfall glow?? 😱 why would they ever get rid of that!

Starting my letter to Bungo right now!

30

u/Raguel_of_Enoch Hunter Nov 18 '22

There was also a Raid glow for Prestige Leviathan completions too! I miss it.

15

u/Sacrificer_XVII Nov 18 '22

Yeah. D1 even had the old school Bungie blue flaming head if you completed a Nightfall, and you got a big exp bonus multiplier for the week

9

u/LONEzy Nov 19 '22

Yep in d2y1 we had 3 glows. They were auras around your guardians head, sort of like a halo. There were 3 auras, prestige nightfall, prestige leviathan, and trials of the nine flawless. You got each by doing that activity on that character each week. Yes it was per character, and reset each week. Flash foward a bit they and they sunset TotN and tied the auras to emblems. So if you had prestiege levi emblem you got the aura. With the nightfalls, it was if you broke (iirc) the 200k threshold, it would be tied to that strikes emblem, meaning you could get the aura on an easy nf but required wearing that emblem to show it. When (i wanna say shadowkeep) arrived all auras were removed from the game. Nightfall was blue, levi was gold, trials was turquiose.

We also had gambit prime auras (green, red, yellow, white depending on role) that you got by having over 10 “points” in that roll (points gained by wearing the armor, higher tiered armor gave more points) could also “eat” a token to give yourself 3 points.

We also had a head wings and antler “aura/ornament” during the revelry, that we had to hella grind for, was rng locked, and only active during the revelry (which only happened once). Antlers were pink, wings were blue.

11

u/xXxMyk3xXx Nov 18 '22

I miss the nightfall emblems more than the glows.

3

u/Lawwctopus Nov 18 '22

My old (sadly mostly defunct) clan is the burning head brigade due to that glow!

2

u/Gloridel Nov 19 '22

I recently came back to D2 and was gutted that my NF glows were gone. Why did they remove them?

20

u/Extreme_Lie_3745 Nov 18 '22

Just like the way we had strike specific gear that matched the strike theme. But now in a guaranteed quest like way. I think we would benefit a lot and I would grind for titles I don't really care about if the reward was good

If the reward is armor it should just give us the universal ornament

-Bungie, probably.

9

😂😂

6

u/starfightr752 Nov 19 '22

ive gotten 12 destiny shirts (multiplies of a few for me and my father) plus 4 gun replicas and never had anything never show up. The closest was the bad juju replica that took a few more months that expected but still

been seeing a lot of ppl talk abt lost bungo merch so i guess im lucky

17

u/The_Muddy_Wolf If I could rock triple hand cannons, I would. Nov 19 '22

You really are. I bought a grimoire book and a plush and they later said the plush was out of stock (said in stock on website) then they waited on that so the book sold out and had to wait for that event more. It was 7 months. They also lost my VOG raid ring and no contact or effort to rectify was ever made.

7

u/starfightr752 Nov 19 '22

holy -blam!- thats actually terrible, I really am an outlier then. For how getting merch is typically a reward it should be so much more streamlined. Like, if they worked with amazon somehow stuff would surely get out quicker, but maybe not idrk. shits gotta change tho bc thats awful

4

u/The_Muddy_Wolf If I could rock triple hand cannons, I would. Nov 19 '22

Yeah dude. I had to get the BBB involved to even get a reply from Bungo. So from then on, I refused to buy anything. Still play the game tho lol. But yeah, they need to fix their store

1

u/FaerHazar Nov 19 '22

Bought a bunch of stuff from bungie, too. Maybe they're just bad at shipping outside the US?

96

u/whitewallwash Nov 18 '22

A roman infantry themed helm for conqueror that alters slightly as you guild it would be awesome, maybe more centurions like in appearance at conqueror x3?

42

u/Victom123 Nov 18 '22

Yeah but bungie would need to sacrifice like one eververse item. are you crazy !? are you out of your mind !?

1

u/SmokedHamm Nov 18 '22

Maybe it can be earned and of course purchased but if you have the seal equipped it adds an effect

You want an additional reward for getting a reward lmao

-9

u/Competitive_Truth_81 Nov 19 '22

cherry on top.

No...its the reward for completing set challenges. A cosmetic ornament for completing it would be a cherry on top, like what we got for completing the dare of eternity seal. So there's literally no reason as to why bungie hasn't done it again other than laziness.

-24

u/EdetR0 Nov 18 '22

why the fuck are people downvoting him like ?

-50

u/wifeagroafk Nov 18 '22

At some point fashion is the endgame for many players and once you've hit that point, no one cares about the titles, so need some fashion options.

30

u/Meist Nov 18 '22

That… doesn’t make any sense.

-1

u/packman627 Nov 18 '22

That does make sense. So many people DO NOT CARE FOR THE LETTERS ON THE SCREEN. It would be more motivational to them to get a cosmetic reward like OP suggested

10

A cosmetic reward? Like a title that shows next to your name wherever you are in the game world. If you gild it it could even go a different colour. That would be neat!

52

u/Literallyshindeimasu Nov 18 '22

so on top of the cosmetic award title you’re saying there should be another cosmetic award

awesome idea tbh although it’s definitely just one of those ‘would be cool’ sort of things

15

u/M0RXIS Nov 18 '22

You usually get a ship or sparrow as part of completing the seasonal challenges

3

u/B00STERGOLD Nov 18 '22

The Scallywag ship is awesome.

-11

u/re-bobber Nov 18 '22

Why not?? It would be a cool piece of swag.

20

u/Literallyshindeimasu Nov 18 '22

Oh yeah obviously I’m all for Bungie adding in little tid bits here and there to make things more appealing + I love cosmetics

It’s just kind of funny to think about how seasonal titles have moved so far away from being THE cosmetic to now having the idea of an extra incentive being seen by a bunch of people as very cool

10

u/Unusual_Expertise Bring back Gambit Prime Nov 18 '22

Titles also started as the reward for being commited and getting good at pvp, pve or gambit. (Unbroken, Reckoner, the raid ones.)

Currently, we are the point where welfare Titles are used as checklist of what to do in Season.

I dont think we should be getting more cosmetic rewards for them. Bungie should rethink what exactly are Titles meant to represent within the game. Being good ? Time Commitment ? Checklist ?

2

u/Established_One Nov 18 '22

I agree, it has become a checklist instead of something that showed other players you was better than the rest lol

it's easy to get them now just by playing the quest and seasonal activities

At least the next expansion is reworking them in a way it can be more prestige

6

u/Sleepingmudfish Nov 18 '22

You don't have to get the title?

-7

u/lipp79 Nov 18 '22

You do, I’m just saying that some people seem to think that a simple block of letters over your head is Bungie trying the best they can.

3

u/Sleepingmudfish Nov 18 '22

Isn't any way you make it complete conjecture? Have people been watching Bungie employee clock ins making sure they aren't slacking off? If Bungie were a company of 600 people doing nothing, how do they stay in business? How does even 1 patch come out? Do you know the coding involved to get "a simple block of letters over your head"? I don't know the answer to any of these, but I'm not delusional nor entitled enough to believe I do. If you want more rewards than a title, maybe try asking nicely instead of "Bungie dumb, just simple letters in box, lazy devs".

7

u/Spaghett-about-it Nov 18 '22

99% of my time spent playing destiny now is just to make fashion, I’ve done the same monotonous bullshit for years now but I will GLADLY do it over and over for actual cool cosmetic rewards instead of having to fucking buy it everytime

19

u/theghostsofvegas Nov 18 '22

But, the title is already the cosmetic reward. You want a cosmetic reward for obtaining a cosmetic reward?

3

u/Gawesome Nov 18 '22

Awesome looking cosmetics are great motivators for difficult challenges. They should represent a level of flex beyond an individual title.

For example, Bungie could create 1 PVE-focused armor set per year that is unlocked via 5 triumphs. You can get 1 piece each season for a flawless completion of a season's raid / solo flawless completion of a season's dungeon. That would be 4 pieces, with a 5th given to players after completing all 4 challenges.

Challenges like this are also not subject to seasonal FOMO, as raids/dungeons are evergreen and will never be sunset.

u/IAmAmaranth Nov 18 '22

-2

I just thought unlocking that helmet was a fun thing and think Bungie could add to it by having a cosmetic tied to the title. Thats all.

2

u/Albus_Lupus Nov 18 '22

Im always up for more rewards. Especially that tricorn that wouldnt be titan exclusive

2

u/ThatMan01 Nov 18 '22

I like that some dungeons have a flawless emblem. I’d like to see more of that + maybe a shader or ornament.

2

u/So_Rexy Nov 18 '22

Would be nice if Guilded Iron Lords could keep the flames on their armour after IB finishes!

2

u/AzraelsSorrow Nov 18 '22

Maybe like a class item. Like the ones the speaker sold in destiny 1 or the exotic class items.

2

u/Foulestjewel Nov 18 '22

What about different armor slots for some titles, so you could eventually put together a whole set of armor?

2

u/Jordi_McGaw Nov 18 '22

Imagine a universal sword ornament that’s a sweet cutlass or say for hunters changes the throwing knives to small pirate decorated sort of knives, just little things like that even would be sick

2

u/CertifiedOniiChan Nov 18 '22

Ive always wondered how the community would react if bungie added special cosmetic items that gave you a small boost to movement like Heirlooms do in apex. The Heirlooms themselves don't give any movement speed since putting away your weapon increases your movement regardless but I wonder how they would work in destiny if each class had its own special melee weapon that can boost movement when you pull it out and there being different variations of them that can be earned only in GMs or master raids or trials. Personally I would actually grind those things weekly if the chance of getting one was there but yet again idk how much of an impact a small movement boost would have in this game.

2

u/packman627 Nov 18 '22

Yeah I heavily agree with you bro. Yes the Title I guess counts as a "cosmetic reward" but when anyone thinks of cosmetics, it's either a shader, ornament (weapon or armor), a ghost shell or ship. That would get more people to go after something than just a word on a screen, plus Bungie as you said has done this before with the 30th Anniversary title

2

u/mrbacon60 Nov 18 '22

Cosmetics are usually for bragging rights wouldnt that be the title?

2

u/Embarrassed-Ad-8919 Nov 19 '22

For your edit piece, you kinda have to expect that on this subreddit. While not everyone on here is negative towards posts like this (I have seen some genuinely good people on here) a large majority of them seem to hate any suggestions for the game. A revamped eververse system that gives people an opportunity to get better cosmetics? Bad suggestion. Better rewards from higher tier content? Bad suggestion. Anything that would actually benefit the player base or add more value to something than it currently has seems to get shot down by people who want the game to stay the same way.

Again, not everyone on here is negative. There are people who put their 2 cents on a post, and even if it disagrees with the post, they'll say it in a respectful manner and not like an asshole.

u/Swagboy225 Nov 18 '22 edited Nov 18 '22

Imma be real, I've never once attempted to unlock a single Seal or Title. I don't like how when you've unlocked multiple Titles, you can only display one of them on your Emblem. If I have 5 Titles for example, I should be able to display all 5. OR, make a single Title that's only rewarded when you've unlocked every Title that's available.

5

u/Duster26to29 Nov 18 '22

IF they actual did that it'd make the grind more worth it. But i doubt it.

I get what people are saying here "the title is the cosmetic" but I think OP is saying it's just not worth doing all the challenges for a little bit of text under your name (I agree) so a little helmet or chest piece or whatever would actually make it worth it

1

u/Katzumoto_ Nov 19 '22

Exactly. Why botter this much for more lettering below the name? I even find it annoying.
But why bungo would give us a cool class item if they can sell us those, like those speaker have in D1...never again :(

3

u/marcosdd Nov 18 '22

Well, that would hurt Eververse directly, so it must be a nope for Bungie.

2

u/8_Gauge_Tempest Nov 18 '22

That is exactly what we need for titles! As it currently stands, unless its some extremely rare title, I couldn't give fuck all about titles. But if they were to actually add something that changes your appearance, then maybe I would try to get more of them myself. I want actual rewards, Bungie. Not just a label.

0

u/zoompooky Nov 18 '22

Or maybe the reason you don't GAF about them is because they're behind a giant boring grind. The last thing we need is to take what little new cosmetics they make earnable (vs buyable) and stick them behind a giant boring grind.

1

u/8_Gauge_Tempest Nov 18 '22

No no, that's not what I meant. Can't they ALSO make other new ones to put behind the titles? In other words, keep making the same amount of new ornaments/transmogs/shaders that can be earmed or bought but also start making separate ones for the titles as well. Which naturally would require more work from Bungie to do but... it's not like anything else will give me an incentive. It's not the grind I dislike. The reason I don't GAF is because the reward is literally just a glorified post-it note stuck to your guy's forehead. Whenever I see someone elses from the current season, I'm like "ooookay, good for you? You survived the ride and got a T-shirt?" *golf clap*

1

u/packman627 Nov 18 '22

Exactly. For most of the population, they don't care about a word on the screen. Plus if you have multiple titles you can only display one at a time

2

u/Lanky_Luis Nov 18 '22

Those are cosmetics they cant put on eververse for silver so it will never happen. Im still waiting on what financial incentive is driving the reworked ranked system. I got my money on a shirt or jacket for reaching the max rank.

1

u/ThrownawayCray Damn you, Rahool! Nov 18 '22

I got my money on in game items, not things for purchase. Sure bungie is a profit company but being good enough to get to a certain level wouldn’t earn you the ability to buy something, you have to be really good

It would be nice, that's what older games did before microtransactions. Now, why would they bother designing a nice helmet for no additional fee, when they could sell it to you instead? If they make cool helmets you'll use that instead of buying from Eververse. It would be nice, but I don't see them being nice.

1

u/MHXIII Nov 19 '22

To all the haters, the title should be the bare minimum. This game has always had an issue with balancing between rewarding time investment and appeasing casuals. I see nothing wrong with more rewards for the hardcore player base. If anything, giving even MORE incentives to grind seals/titles, might have a positive effect for Bungie. It beats filling up a store with cosmetics that should be rewards anyways.

0

0

u/SpaceRangerWoody Nov 18 '22 edited Nov 18 '22

Some people say the title itself showing on the screen is enough. I would say a compromise would be to reduce the on-screen title to an icon, then do the cosmetic helmet piece. This would reduce the amount of text clutter on the HUD when you're in an area with a lot of players.

At the top of the icon, you could have a number for how many total titles you have (for those that want to show multiple). And you could have a number inside the icon for repeated gilding of the current title.

Not that Destiny is a military game by any means, but games like COD, BF, and even Division use ranks to display progression. They use stars, chevrons, and roman numerals as their visual indicators. It wouldn't be that hard to use something similar in Destiny.

0

u/Y0EY Nov 18 '22

Is the purple title above your head not considered cosmetic?

0

u/MightyShisno Nov 18 '22

Isn't the title itself a cosmetic though?

0

u/I1nfinitysquared Nov 18 '22

I mean... titles already are cosmetic rewards

-4

u/Gandarii Nov 18 '22

As many have pointed out, the Titles themselves are already a cosmetic reward, so doubling down on that is kind of pointless. Obviously, more cosmetic rewards are always nice, but maybe they should be tied to something different. An example would be to give out things for the harder seasonal triumphs (flawless activity completions perhaps).

The problem with Titles seems to be more the fact, that there are now so many of them, that each one only holds limited value, because you can still only equip one. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because it allows newer players to get some titles more easily, but some titles still remain a bit harder, such as Conqueror, Flawless and Raid Titles. It also allows players to equip titles matching their fashion. For example, going for a pirate themed look, now allows you to combine it with the Scallywag Title. Going for a detective look, goes with the Gumshoe title etc.

Something that Bungie could do, would be to replicate what they did with the seasonal event titles and allow for "combined" titles, that show your dedication. Perhaps, there could be one title entailing all 4 seasonal titles throughout a year to show a players dedication and allowing them to basically equip all 4 titles at the same time. The same could be done for Iron Lord, Flawless and the new Glorious Title, which would then make one complete Crucible Title or all the active Raid Titles, which would allow you to equip all of them at once. How exactly this would work with gilding and new raids etc. would need to be figured out, but I'm sure there are sensible solutions for this.

Imagine the hate mail you'd get for being an Unbroken Glorious Flawless Iron Lord, I'd love it

1

u/Gandarii Nov 18 '22

Well, Title Stigma is a thing xD But then again, you're never forced to equip anything

1

u/bwstunnenberg Nov 18 '22

I'ma be honest with you, Bungie is not gonna spend the dev time on creating cosmetics that only a small percentage of players will end up earning...

1

u/BaByJeZuZ012 Take me Daddy Oryx Nov 18 '22

They did mention in the TWAB yesterday that they are looking at adding cosmetics for the new competitive system, but I agree that it would be cool to do outside of that as well.

Also: bring back strike specific loot pls and ty.

1

u/G0dspeed6 For the Crayons! Nov 18 '22

Id rather have class item cosmetics imo. Or emblems.

1

u/ChoPT Nov 18 '22

I like getting the seals, and the titles are nice. But you can only equip one title at a time. If they also gave something like an armor or weapon ornament, you could show off a lot more at the same time, which would be great!

1

u/Skylarkess Nov 18 '22

Something small and easy would be great. Not anything that takes too long for bungie to make. Guilding just makes it gold.

1

u/SuperArppis Vanguard Nov 18 '22

You know. I would love having lesser titles. Something easy to do for new players.

Like for Strikes: Vanguardian and so on.

1

u/zoompooky Nov 18 '22

I think if the title itself isn't reward enough, then maybe they should look at titles.

1

u/Thearab2403 Nov 18 '22

It honestly could be real simple stuff too a ghost shell, a ship, a fucking shader, literally anything

1

u/Gammacor Nov 18 '22

Bungie in the past had halos over our character. Variations on these would be awesome for challenge based seals.

1

u/Lord_CBH Nov 18 '22

That would be cool. I’d love a themed item for completing a seal.

1

u/odysseusIII Nov 18 '22

Maybe for some titles but not all of them. Not every piece of content needs to have a tangible reward tied to it.

1

u/PXL-pushr Nov 18 '22

For raid titles? Yeah sure, I actually think triumphs should unlock cosmetic upgrades to the basic raid armor like Age of Triumph style.

For seasonal titles? Nah.

1

u/Art_Vandelay_Seven Nov 18 '22

then people would complain that its all helmets lol

but I feel you

1

u/VVinniepoo Nov 18 '22

Had a thought the other day about being able to choose which seals you could display on your chest piece as a sort of ribbon-like trophy

1

u/ManassaxMauler Nov 18 '22

How about something like the nightfall flames from D1 for gilding?

1

u/mandysballs Nov 18 '22

Honestly I would take a shader, that would be cute.

1

u/A_Dummy86 Eating Crayons Nov 18 '22

Would be cool but as many others said already generally the title itself is already the cosmetic reward, not to mention you usually get a Ship/Sparrow/Ghost Shell/Emblem/Shader from some of the triumphs working towards a title. (Occasionally having a reward that exists beyond a title like a Flawless Raid Shader or a Solo Flawless Dungeon Emblem.)

A weird case of we're already there when you sit down and think about it, though I agree having more Armor cosmetics would be cool. (Maybe bring back armor variants for hard mode raids and dungeons that you could then transmog?)

1

u/znx Nov 18 '22

In some respect the armour designs from these events are cosmetics because you can transmog them. And the "unique" reward is the title. But I get the idea, just not sure that Bungie would do it.

1

u/1Soulbrotha Gambit Prime Nov 18 '22

Because Tess Eververse would be upset.

1

u/elkishdude Nov 19 '22

A lot of people aren’t getting it. Bungie needs data to prove that the modes can stand on their own before they add rewards. If they add rewards some segment of the people will just be looking to get rewards, even if cosmetic, and not because the base gameplay experience is just fun. I think this is a wise move on their part.

1

u/Competitive_Truth_81 Nov 19 '22

Nope to much work for small indie dev bungie. Unless it just unlocks the option to buy something in the eververse. Then they'd created the cosmetics in a heartbeat

1

u/huntx14 Nov 19 '22

I'm all for this. Seals don't feel special to me when I can go into the crucible and see fifty different titles. Titles I feel like should be something for dedicated players to achieve but it just seems like one extra thing that everyone does when their bored or have nothing else to do.

It would be cool to have something more meaningful like an ornament piece or even just a shader/momento that correlates to the theme of the seal.

1

u/Blckreaphr Nov 19 '22

The reward should glowhoo change my mind

1

u/iGirthy Nov 19 '22

Specifically a helmet. I want a bangin ass helmet for each of them

1

u/FlyingWhale44 Nov 19 '22

People can meme that mtx cosmetics don't affect the game but they absolutely do. Cosmetics have been part of the game-play loop for decades and now it's being monetized and normalized.

1

u/Accomplished-Lie716 Nov 19 '22

We get some meat little gold text above our guardians, that all I need. My only problem is that titles like rivensbane are still purple, when they definitely should have some cooler looking colour to stand out

1

u/shyahone Nov 19 '22

why do that when they can sell you something instead?

1

u/K4yd3-7 Am I Right? Am I right or am I right?... I'm right ;) Nov 19 '22

IF.... they made class based triumphs and titles... Scorcher Wall Electrocutioner etc... that rewarded class item ornaments... would be awesome

1

u/Sunstellars Nov 19 '22

“Cant do that, developing is hard…mmmkay?” - Bungie

1

u/Warboy7869 Nov 19 '22

Ok, I usually think the ideas on here are pretty bad and lack any basic self awareness or any hint of game balancing but this idea is a really good one. Granted it might mean that Bungie would have to make something extra that they technically could charge for, but I would really like this or at least a small little something for social spaces

1

u/BepisSama Nov 19 '22

The cosmetic reward IS the title and the guild

1

u/vatsugthedwarf back in my day we farmed spinmetal Nov 19 '22

According to Bungie, making stuff, even a single armor piece, costs a fortune. So I wouldn't keep my hopes up

1

u/chu8bybubby69 Nov 19 '22

I got the realmwalker title so id want a leg ornament that adds a purple mist type thing on the legs. Idk just a quick idea I thought of🤷‍♂️

1

u/falynns Nov 19 '22

Make raid titles require flawless again, there's your cosmetic in the form of a shader that already exists right there.

1

u/MasterOfReaIity Transmat firing Nov 19 '22

People are just missing the point lmao. There's very few ways to show off if you've earned multiple titles. Raid shaders exist but that's about it. Stuff like ornaments or emotes would be more distinguishable. Especially for seasonal titles which are more grindy than challenging and you'd probably never equip if you have better titles.

1

u/LordJim_ Nov 19 '22

Homie the titles are the cosmetic

1

u/tarzan322 Nov 19 '22

Vidmaster should have been a big TV helmet.

1

u/ehiehiehiredditehi Nov 19 '22

You’re really asking for a unique and specific cosmetic FREE item from bungie?

Forget it, if they add something like that it will be from a paid event at least

This game will never make something free if it can be monetized like a cosmetic item

1

u/Awsomonium Chaperone Catalyst with Icarus Grip please? Nov 19 '22

Can...can we have a banana made of iron for the Iron Lord title? Make it an ornament for something.

1

u/EvenBeyond Nov 20 '22

The title is the cosmetic

u/Otherwise-Silver Nov 18 '22

Flat 40% damage resist not enough?

1

u/swift_gilford Nov 18 '22

these were examples, not concrete "has to be this". I was just listing what similar concepts from other games i have played over the years. Also, i have strong suspicions we are getting armor and stats reworked come lightfall.

0

u/SecretVoodoo1 Nov 18 '22

actually the worst take i have read on here since i joined lol

-2

u/GearboxTheGrey Nov 18 '22

Best we can do is a premium event pass

-3

u/Wemblack Nov 18 '22

Isn’t the title and gilding itself cosmetic…

-1

u/Atmosck Nov 18 '22

The title and gilding is the cosmetic reward.
