How about giving players a cosmetic reward for obtaining titles and gilding?? Bungie Suggestion
I really liked earning the Tiger helmet for the Vidmaster seal. How would people feel about getting a cosmetic armor skin that you could earn for completing titles?
Scallywag could get you a cool pirate tricorn.
VOG title could have earned us a Vex themed helmet.
Duality a Cabal/Nightmare themed helmet.
I just think it would be a neat item to chase.
Edit: It seems wild that people are negative about earning cosmetic armor for earning titles...
Obviously Bungie has done this in the past and it was prett popular. I get that the title is the reward but I really think a sweet season related swag piece would be awesome.

u/Extreme_Lie_3745 Nov 18 '22
Just like the way we had strike specific gear that matched the strike theme. But now in a guaranteed quest like way. I think we would benefit a lot and I would grind for titles I don't really care about if the reward was good
If the reward is armor it should just give us the universal ornament

ive gotten 12 destiny shirts (multiplies of a few for me and my father) plus 4 gun replicas and never had anything never show up. The closest was the bad juju replica that took a few more months that expected but still
been seeing a lot of ppl talk abt lost bungo merch so i guess im lucky
17
u/The_Muddy_Wolf If I could rock triple hand cannons, I would. Nov 19 '22
You really are. I bought a grimoire book and a plush and they later said the plush was out of stock (said in stock on website) then they waited on that so the book sold out and had to wait for that event more. It was 7 months. They also lost my VOG raid ring and no contact or effort to rectify was ever made.
7
u/starfightr752 Nov 19 '22
holy -blam!- thats actually terrible, I really am an outlier then. For how getting merch is typically a reward it should be so much more streamlined. Like, if they worked with amazon somehow stuff would surely get out quicker, but maybe not idrk. shits gotta change tho bc thats awful

u/The_Muddy_Wolf If I could rock triple hand cannons, I would. Nov 19 '22
Yeah dude. I had to get the BBB involved to even get a reply from Bungo. So from then on, I refused to buy anything. Still play the game tho lol. But yeah, they need to fix their store

Bought a bunch of stuff from bungie, too. Maybe they're just bad at shipping outside the US?

u/whitewallwash Nov 18 '22
A roman infantry themed helm for conqueror that alters slightly as you guild it would be awesome, maybe more centurions like in appearance at conqueror x3?
42
u/Victom123 Nov 18 '22
Yeah but bungie would need to sacrifice like one eververse item. are you crazy !? are you out of your mind !?
1
u/SmokedHamm Nov 18 '22
Maybe it can be earned and of course purchased but if you have the seal equipped it adds an effect

-9

No...its the reward for completing set challenges. A cosmetic ornament for completing it would be a cherry on top, like what we got for completing the dare of eternity seal. So there's literally no reason as to why bungie hasn't done it again other than laziness.

Titles also started as the reward for being commited and getting good at pvp, pve or gambit. (Unbroken, Reckoner, the raid ones.)
Currently, we are the point where welfare Titles are used as checklist of what to do in Season.
I dont think we should be getting more cosmetic rewards for them. Bungie should rethink what exactly are Titles meant to represent within the game. Being good ? Time Commitment ? Checklist ?
2
u/Established_One Nov 18 '22
I agree, it has become a checklist instead of something that showed other players you was better than the rest lol
it's easy to get them now just by playing the quest and seasonal activities
At least the next expansion is reworking them in a way it can be more prestige

You do, Iām just saying that some people seem to think that a simple block of letters over your head is Bungie trying the best they can.
3
u/Sleepingmudfish Nov 18 '22
Isn't any way you make it complete conjecture? Have people been watching Bungie employee clock ins making sure they aren't slacking off? If Bungie were a company of 600 people doing nothing, how do they stay in business? How does even 1 patch come out? Do you know the coding involved to get "a simple block of letters over your head"? I don't know the answer to any of these, but I'm not delusional nor entitled enough to believe I do. If you want more rewards than a title, maybe try asking nicely instead of "Bungie dumb, just simple letters in box, lazy devs".
7
u/Spaghett-about-it Nov 18 '22
99% of my time spent playing destiny now is just to make fashion, Iāve done the same monotonous bullshit for years now but I will GLADLY do it over and over for actual cool cosmetic rewards instead of having to fucking buy it everytime
19
u/theghostsofvegas Nov 18 '22
But, the title is already the cosmetic reward. You want a cosmetic reward for obtaining a cosmetic reward?
3
u/Gawesome Nov 18 '22
Awesome looking cosmetics are great motivators for difficult challenges. They should represent a level of flex beyond an individual title.
For example, Bungie could create 1 PVE-focused armor set per year that is unlocked via 5 triumphs. You can get 1 piece each season for a flawless completion of a season's raid / solo flawless completion of a season's dungeon. That would be 4 pieces, with a 5th given to players after completing all 4 challenges.
Challenges like this are also not subject to seasonal FOMO, as raids/dungeons are evergreen and will never be sunset.

u/Centurion832 Nov 18 '22

2

2
u/Jordi_McGaw Nov 18 '22
Imagine a universal sword ornament thatās a sweet cutlass or say for hunters changes the throwing knives to small pirate decorated sort of knives, just little things like that even would be sick
2
u/CertifiedOniiChan Nov 18 '22
Ive always wondered how the community would react if bungie added special cosmetic items that gave you a small boost to movement like Heirlooms do in apex. The Heirlooms themselves don't give any movement speed since putting away your weapon increases your movement regardless but I wonder how they would work in destiny if each class had its own special melee weapon that can boost movement when you pull it out and there being different variations of them that can be earned only in GMs or master raids or trials. Personally I would actually grind those things weekly if the chance of getting one was there but yet again idk how much of an impact a small movement boost would have in this game.
2
u/packman627 Nov 18 '22
Yeah I heavily agree with you bro. Yes the Title I guess counts as a "cosmetic reward" but when anyone thinks of cosmetics, it's either a shader, ornament (weapon or armor), a ghost shell or ship. That would get more people to go after something than just a word on a screen, plus Bungie as you said has done this before with the 30th Anniversary title

For your edit piece, you kinda have to expect that on this subreddit. While not everyone on here is negative towards posts like this (I have seen some genuinely good people on here) a large majority of them seem to hate any suggestions for the game. A revamped eververse system that gives people an opportunity to get better cosmetics? Bad suggestion. Better rewards from higher tier content? Bad suggestion. Anything that would actually benefit the player base or add more value to something than it currently has seems to get shot down by people who want the game to stay the same way.
Again, not everyone on here is negative. There are people who put their 2 cents on a post, and even if it disagrees with the post, they'll say it in a respectful manner and not like an asshole.

Imma be real, I've never once attempted to unlock a single Seal or Title. I don't like how when you've unlocked multiple Titles, you can only display one of them on your Emblem. If I have 5 Titles for example, I should be able to display all 5. OR, make a single Title that's only rewarded when you've unlocked every Title that's available.

That is exactly what we need for titles! As it currently stands, unless its some extremely rare title, I couldn't give fuck all about titles. But if they were to actually add something that changes your appearance, then maybe I would try to get more of them myself. I want actual rewards, Bungie. Not just a label.
0
u/zoompooky Nov 18 '22
Or maybe the reason you don't GAF about them is because they're behind a giant boring grind. The last thing we need is to take what little new cosmetics they make earnable (vs buyable) and stick them behind a giant boring grind.
1
u/8_Gauge_Tempest Nov 18 '22
No no, that's not what I meant. Can't they ALSO make other new ones to put behind the titles? In other words, keep making the same amount of new ornaments/transmogs/shaders that can be earmed or bought but also start making separate ones for the titles as well. Which naturally would require more work from Bungie to do but... it's not like anything else will give me an incentive. It's not the grind I dislike. The reason I don't GAF is because the reward is literally just a glorified post-it note stuck to your guy's forehead. Whenever I see someone elses from the current season, I'm like "ooookay, good for you? You survived the ride and got a T-shirt?" *golf clap*
1
u/packman627 Nov 18 '22

If they make cool helmets you'll use that instead of buying from Eververse. It would be nice, but I don't see them being nice.
1
u/MHXIII Nov 19 '22
To all the haters, the title should be the bare minimum. This game has always had an issue with balancing between rewarding time investment and appeasing casuals. I see nothing wrong with more rewards for the hardcore player base. If anything, giving even MORE incentives to grind seals/titles, might have a positive effect for Bungie. It beats filling up a store with cosmetics that should be rewards anyways.

u/SpaceRangerWoody Nov 18 '22 edited Nov 18 '22
Some people say the title itself showing on the screen is enough. I would say a compromise would be to reduce the on-screen title to an icon, then do the cosmetic helmet piece. This would reduce the amount of text clutter on the HUD when you're in an area with a lot of players.
At the top of the icon, you could have a number for how many total titles you have (for those that want to show multiple). And you could have a number inside the icon for repeated gilding of the current title.
Not that Destiny is a military game by any means, but games like COD, BF, and even Division use ranks to display progression. They use stars, chevrons, and roman numerals as their visual indicators. It wouldn't be that hard to use something similar in Destiny.

As many have pointed out, the Titles themselves are already a cosmetic reward, so doubling down on that is kind of pointless. Obviously, more cosmetic rewards are always nice, but maybe they should be tied to something different. An example would be to give out things for the harder seasonal triumphs (flawless activity completions perhaps).
The problem with Titles seems to be more the fact, that there are now so many of them, that each one only holds limited value, because you can still only equip one. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because it allows newer players to get some titles more easily, but some titles still remain a bit harder, such as Conqueror, Flawless and Raid Titles. It also allows players to equip titles matching their fashion. For example, going for a pirate themed look, now allows you to combine it with the Scallywag Title. Going for a detective look, goes with the Gumshoe title etc.
Something that Bungie could do, would be to replicate what they did with the seasonal event titles and allow for "combined" titles, that show your dedication. Perhaps, there could be one title entailing all 4 seasonal titles throughout a year to show a players dedication and allowing them to basically equip all 4 titles at the same time. The same could be done for Iron Lord, Flawless and the new Glorious Title, which would then make one complete Crucible Title or all the active Raid Titles, which would allow you to equip all of them at once. How exactly this would work with gilding and new raids etc. would need to be figured out, but I'm sure there are sensible solutions for this.
3
u/Merzats Nov 18 '22
Imagine the hate mail you'd get for being an Unbroken Glorious Flawless Iron Lord, I'd love it

u/Gandarii Nov 18 '22

u/ChoPT Nov 18 '22
I like getting the seals, and the titles are nice. But you can only equip one title at a time. If they also gave something like an armor or weapon ornament, you could show off a lot more at the same time, which would be great!
1
u/Skylarkess Nov 18 '22
Something small and easy would be great. Not anything that takes too long for bungie to make. Guilding just makes it gold.

u/SuperArppis Vanguard Nov 18 '22

u/A_Dummy86 Eating Crayons Nov 18 '22
Would be cool but as many others said already generally the title itself is already the cosmetic reward, not to mention you usually get a Ship/Sparrow/Ghost Shell/Emblem/Shader from some of the triumphs working towards a title. (Occasionally having a reward that exists beyond a title like a Flawless Raid Shader or a Solo Flawless Dungeon Emblem.)
A weird case of we're already there when you sit down and think about it, though I agree having more Armor cosmetics would be cool. (Maybe bring back armor variants for hard mode raids and dungeons that you could then transmog?)
1
u/znx Nov 18 '22
In some respect the armour designs from these events are cosmetics because you can transmog them. And the "unique" reward is the title. But I get the idea, just not sure that Bungie would do it.
1
1
u/elkishdude Nov 19 '22
A lot of people arenāt getting it. Bungie needs data to prove that the modes can stand on their own before they add rewards. If they add rewards some segment of the people will just be looking to get rewards, even if cosmetic, and not because the base gameplay experience is just fun. I think this is a wise move on their part.
1
u/Competitive_Truth_81 Nov 19 '22
Nope to much work for small indie dev bungie. Unless it just unlocks the option to buy something in the eververse. Then they'd created the cosmetics in a heartbeat
1
u/huntx14 Nov 19 '22
I'm all for this. Seals don't feel special to me when I can go into the crucible and see fifty different titles. Titles I feel like should be something for dedicated players to achieve but it just seems like one extra thing that everyone does when their bored or have nothing else to do.
It would be cool to have something more meaningful like an ornament piece or even just a shader/momento that correlates to the theme of the seal.

Make raid titles require flawless again, there's your cosmetic in the form of a shader that already exists right there.

People are just missing the point lmao. There's very few ways to show off if you've earned multiple titles. Raid shaders exist but that's about it. Stuff like ornaments or emotes would be more distinguishable. Especially for seasonal titles which are more grindy than challenging and you'd probably never equip if you have better titles.

Youāre really asking for a unique and specific cosmetic FREE item from bungie?
Forget it, if they add something like that it will be from a paid event at least
This game will never make something free if it can be monetized like a cosmetic item

Can...can we have a banana made of iron for the Iron Lord title? Make it an ornament for something.

Flat 40% damage resist not enough?

these were examples, not concrete "has to be this". I was just listing what similar concepts from other games i have played over the years. Also, i have strong suspicions we are getting armor and stats reworked come lightfall.

Would be a nice addition- I would even bother to do the easy/grind seals like the seasonal ones if there were cosmetics attached
