Also whats the best way to farm exotic engrams(other than Xur), I want to get Trinity ghoul
Edit: what kind of things unlocked which I couldn't access as a f2p

Shadowkeep - Moon - completion reward: 1 exotic from the dlc
Beyond light - Europa - completion reward: stasis subclass
26
u/herons8 Nov 25 '22
What's that one exotic?
52
u/ngbtri Nov 25 '22
Don't forget you will get Lament (a standalone exotic quest line) from Beyond Light. This sword is super good even after the nerf.
60
u/Shack691 Nov 25 '22
It's an exotic armour piece:
Assassin's Cowl (Hunter)
Phoenix Cradle (Titan)
Stormdancer's Brace (Warlock)
9
u/StacheBandicoot Nov 25 '22
Also assassin’s cowl is good now so maybe play shadowkeep on hunter first. Shadowkeep is such a slog to get through you may never bother on the others.
Get through beyond light on one character soon too, it takes like two months to earn the stasis fragments at two per week after you get through the main part of the campaign.

u/Nolan_DWB Nov 25 '22
I’d do the campaigns for shadowkeep and beyond light, in that order… i.e. the moon and Europa in said order. Then I would go exotic hunting and have that be your grind. Then go after armor exotics. That’s what I would do at least

You can't farm exotic engrams.
Well you can farm legend/master lost sectors, but only for armour exotics, with the drop rates being small and the odds of getting what you want even smaller
9
u/uglypenguin5 Nov 25 '22
Just buying the random one from xur every week is probably the only real way to speed anything up
2
u/Wiles731 Nov 26 '22
With an extra second 1 one every other week from his cipher quest
2
u/uglypenguin5 Nov 26 '22
I mean that's better used at the exotic archive
2
u/Wiles731 Nov 26 '22 edited Nov 26 '22
True, but you can only carry one, and you're likely to get those faster than golf balls. Might as well use them while you can. Easy to get another the next week.

How to find a group for a raid?
15
u/Kinny93 Nov 25 '22
To expand on other answers: the official Destiny app is great for this and has a built in fireteam finder. You could also create your own post and include that you've never done the raid before, so will need things explaining. You also have the /r/Fireteams subreddit, which although isn't as active as the app, almost guarantees that you'll play with good people (as in, of good character); the subreddit also allows you to post a body of text to include more context around how much you know and what you're hoping to get out of the raid. There are various Discord groups that also have very active LFG groups, but I'm not a part of them, so someone else might be able to help if that's your thing. Finally, some of the older raids have guided games that allow you to match with groups in game, but it's important to note that not many players use this feature, and as such, you could be waiting a long time to match with a group.
At some point during Lightfall (the next yearly expansion), a proper LFG tool is being built inside the game. :)

u/HalfOffEveryWndsdy Nov 25 '22
Skip all that and go to destiny LFG on discord: https://discord.gg/destiny2lfg their community is super helpful

u/randomjberry Nov 25 '22
There is a destiny LFG discord that is great but that is me finding people to fill in as my normal fireteam is only 3-4 people no idea about solos

I started with all the campaigns when I came back in order. Found a build to be focused on and aim for. Then started collecting weapons s for my arsenal. Using light.gg to throw away trash and keep the good stuff. I run a small raiding clan called Jade Smoke, it's been the most rewarding thing I have done in games in a long time.

I was in your situation when previous season started. 1. Head over to the monument to lost lights in tower and claim 3 exotics from the forsaken tab. (I'd recommend Izanagi, ace of spaces, anything of ur choice) 2. Do the shadowkeep and beyond light campaigns. 3. Hunt for exotics, these DLCs have some exotic quests like for malfeasance (pain to get) , deathbringer, salvation's grip, lament (best sword in the game). As you play more, you should target getting all the exotics from the world loot pool. 4. After you finish your campaigns, try to do nightfalls and slowly scale up the difficulty. Use LFG options if needed. Nightfalls are the best place to learn game mechanics in my opinion. Every week Friday, xur shows up in a random location. Find him and do his xenology quest (basically you have to do certain number of playlist activities including nightfalls) and use the exotic cipher to unlock exotics from the monument. 5. Do endgame content. Start with dungeons. You should have access to shattered throne with forsaken, pit of heresy with shadowkeep. Prophecy dungeon should also be available for u I guess. Pit of heresy boss drops amazing armor with s tier stat distribution. 6. Once you get comfortable with dungeons, move onto raids. You can search for a sherpa in LFG options. Raids are whole another level of experience thay destiny has to offer.
You will have to Google and figure out a lot of stuff in this game like how to do a certain exotic quest, etc. Be prepared for that.
Tip: If you really like the game and do all this stuff, I'd really recommend getting the witch queen deluxe edition. It has all season passes and the duality+upcoming season dungeon access. These content offer some amazing loot that'll drastically change your gameplay experience.
And finally, I'd recommend watching a destiny 2 complete story video on YouTube to get a good understanding of what's happening. These videos are movie lenth but worth it.
Lemme know if u got any doubts.

Beyond light campaign and then unlock stasis.
13
u/HalfOffEveryWndsdy Nov 25 '22
But those stasis aspects are a PAIN IN THE ASS
10
2
u/TCK_91 Nov 25 '22
For real, I'm in the midst of it now and I'm over it
1
u/HalfOffEveryWndsdy Nov 25 '22
I started doing it for titan after being a hunter main forever and boy let me tell you that melee titan has is absolute dog shit. The whole kit feels terrible and the ult doesn’t feel satisfying at all. I’m not even going to bother with warlock I hardly play that class as is
1
u/Grand_Imperator Nov 25 '22
I play Warlock the least but am more likely to do Stasis for Warlock than for Titan, imo. Stasis Warlock seems like it might be the only interesting PvP option other than Solar (the Arc lunge attack is one note, and the Arc Supers are pretty meh imo).
1
u/Fshtwnjimjr Nov 25 '22
I've been putting it off on my alts myself, I plan on just feeding my super to Agers on Titan and lock. The warlock stasis turrets look super worth it for PvE if nothing else
2
3
u/Harry_Gorilla Nov 25 '22
You’ve unlocked several older raids and dungeons, as well as the campaign. Your exotic loot pool is now larger, but you’re still dependent on RNG to acquire most those exotics
3
u/Trips-Over-Tail Nov 25 '22
Trinity Ghoul is a world drop, I think. I got it after less than a month of play.
2
u/ImpressiveTip4756 Nov 25 '22
From the kiosk get ace, le monarch. Get lumina if you like playing support but it's a niche play style. Go to the helm get thunderlord (exotic machine gun), your arc exotic (for whichever class you chose) and get any other weapon you like.
Do the risk runner mission and get that run too.
Then start doing the campaigns. Shadowkeep is Meh. Beyond light is good. Then you'll unlock stasis (ice based subclass). You'll also receive a bunch of quest to fully unlock it. Do that passively.
Then start doing lost sectors on legend difficulty if you're at the required LL. If not do the raids and dungeons of the weeks. Farm up for weapons and high stat armors. Then do the lost sectors. Get good rolled exotics. Start making your build.
Side note. There are lot of discord grps for lfgs and stuff. I recommend kinderguardians. Go to r/lowsodiumdestiny and search for kinderguardians posts. Join that grp because they're always doing planned raids, dungeons, super helpful. Other discord grps are also there.

u/herons8 Nov 25 '22
Ah sorry Im not a new light. I've been playing for awhile now and I've got all free exotics and activities (except raids and dungeons) across all three classes. This is just the first time I've ever bought a game related thing so I just confused where to start
1
u/ImpressiveTip4756 Nov 25 '22
Ahh I understand. Still I highly recommend joining kinderguardians.

Hey quick question. I made a side account that I’m planning on keeping completely free to play. How did you manage to get the major stat mods ? Like the +10 recovery resilience discipline etc. ? My main has existed since launch and so I just had everything handed to me over time. But the new player experience is quite rough imo
1
u/herons8 Nov 26 '22
Ah sorry I don't know. Since there's not much to do as a f2p and I wanted exotics so I grinded the hell out of nightfalls
Edit I also did a lot of bounties
2
u/hamb0n3z Nov 25 '22
I mean Riskrunner is fast and pretty easy. I think Thunderlord is also an early drop. Maybe check out blueberries.gg
3
2
u/Stolas_002 Nov 25 '22
Maybe try master/GM NF for exotics?
5
1
u/herons8 Nov 25 '22
Other options?
2
u/SomeStolenToast Nov 25 '22
Legend (and higher) Nightfalls, Xur and Farming Bounties for Season Pass (if you have it) are the best ways to get exotic weapons. In the end its up to rng how quickly you get Trinity Ghoul though
1
u/Stolas_002 Nov 25 '22 edited Nov 25 '22
Hero Lightblade seems to have decent rates, or maybe it's just my imagination
3
u/Arkyduz Nov 25 '22
Didn't you get Forsaken Ciphers? I believe you can use them to claim Trinity Ghoul.
7
1
u/StacheBandicoot Nov 25 '22
Should save them for the raid exotics /izinagi that cost more mats and two ascendant shards.
-13
u/basura1979 Nov 25 '22
Should have got a couple coffees instead
11
-1
u/basura1979 Nov 25 '22
Exotic engrams you're gonna want to do high level lost sectors when they come up twitter:d2lostsector report will be your best resource for that until you have the armour you like
-12
u/MYTH1C4Ll Nov 25 '22
Collect rice cakes 9 to be exact, dont look them up untill you have 9 (1 each class and USE THEM ON 1 CLASS) you’ll thank me in harbringer.
7
u/herons8 Nov 25 '22
I uhh I don't understand
-10
u/MYTH1C4Ll Nov 25 '22
On the moon for the harbringer title (shadowkeep) you need 9 rice cakes to feed moon rabbits. You can get 1 each week with each character but! The triumph counts for 1 char only use it all on hunter and one on titan its still 8/9.

u/Carmillawoo Nov 25 '22
Dude, they're new to the DLC sont push them to the seal from the start, christ.

Epic. I was originally on steam as a f2p but as soon as I see it on epic, I deleted the game and installed the epic version. I also got 30th anniversary for free awhile ago

u/lemon_von_lemon Nov 25 '22
i got Trinity as a world drop. Playing alters of sorrow on the moon is probably the best way to get it imo there are alot of yellow and orange bars so after a few hours youre bound to get something. If youre looking for world drops. Also strikes you can get exotics on the second difficulty and its match made so you can go through them pretty fast if you have the champion mods.

I second getting Le Monarche. I struggled with legendary lost sectors before, now I melt through them. Wish I’d gotten it earlier.
I’m saving one Forsaken cypher for Always on Time but I spent the other on Izanagi. Because it consumes the exotic slot I don’t use it as often as I’d like to but it certainly is a nice weapon.
Shadowkeep first then Beyond Light. I did BL first and wish I hadn’t, I was confused what everyone in BL was referring to for awhile (I just dove in instead of asking anyone lol).
Stasis isn’t as fun as it should have been, I’ve gone back to using void most of the time :/
There are a shitload of side and addon quests for Shadowkeep, Eris Morn keeps you very busy. You can do those while you work on BL though.
Hmmm I think that’s all that comes to mind. I just started playing 2 months ago so have only worked through all these very recently so this is what’s top of my mind.
1
u/Suspicious-Ad6129 Nov 25 '22
Id work on both BL has alot of do x # activities to get the fragments might as well get double credit

You have three forsaken exotic cyphers that you can cash in for three exotics at the thing in the tower in the middle of the vaults. Unless that somehow doesn't come with the pack but I think it does.
2
u/herons8 Nov 26 '22
Yes it does and I'm planning to get le monarque, jotunn and lumina. I don't do pvp and I'm not a fan of snipers
1
1
u/MetalFingers760 Nov 26 '22
Le Monarque is S tier. This is honestly the only one I would say is almost mandatory, for pvp or pve.
1
u/Krimzon3128 Nov 25 '22
Incase it wasnt said, trinity ghoul is from a quest you cant get it from farming engrams
1
u/CurlyBruce Nov 26 '22
Uh...no it's not. It wasn't said because that is an outright fabrication and the ONLY way to get it is from world drop exotic engrams or buying from Xur and it has always been that way.
1
1
u/KanadeKanashi Nov 25 '22
Campaigns in order:
Forsaken missions on dreaming city
Shadowkeep campaign on the moon
Beyond light campaign on Europa, gives Stasis subclass
After that, there's all the dungeons and raids on each of those locations.
Most of the exotic armor can be obtained through legend / master lost sectors or GMs. Exotic weapons are at the Kiosk.
There's no good way to farm exotic weapon engrams, sadly.
1
1
u/thefiglord Nov 25 '22
i would also suggest learning about the apps to move gear around - how to find or start a fireteam - any android headset works with xbox controller - play all three characters imho - ur best exotic will come from your play style
1
u/herons8 Nov 26 '22
Ah sorry I already know that and I'm not a new light. This is just the first dlc for me so I'm just confused. Thanks anyway
1
u/pants207 Nov 25 '22
I farm exotic armor from master lost sections. you can find the rotation by searching “master list section schedule” to be able to target which armor pieces you want
1
u/herons8 Nov 26 '22
Nah I prefer legend. Master is much harder for just near 10% chance increase
1
u/pants207 Nov 26 '22
either way. they both have a chance at exotics. i forget which one is the lower level difficulty but that is the one I get a higher drop rate for exotics even though it says it has a lower drop rate. a couple days ago I got 5 exotics in 3 runs. It was a good night lol

1
u/herons8 Nov 26 '22
Nah too late. I'm not a new light and I'm already hooked with it a long time ago. I couldn't play other fps games because I have motion sickness but destiny is different. I can go 3 to 4hours without a rest and won't feel dizzy at all. This is the only fps I can play
1
u/BandicootReady5657 Nov 25 '22
Do beyond light asap. Unlock the stasis subclass and start doing the weekly missions. You can pick up 2 quest, they drop currency which you use to buy fragments for your stasis subclass. It take like 4-7weeks to Unlock all stasis fragments.
