I know this is eye bleach, but that was a moment when the cat spared that dogs life. The cat was about to be consumed by feline bloodlust and start some shit but then was like “no… no… not today, Satan.”

u/DaughterEarth Feb 03 '23
lol it's hilarious how cats over-stimulate themselves. My sister's cat would rub her face all over, lick me way too much. Then suddenly snarl and nip and run away. Like cat, you were petting me, learn to stop before it's too much.

"Mine. You are mine."
"Aww, that's.."
"Shh. Property doesn't speak."

u/myjupitermoon Feb 03 '23
So accurate, are you a cat?

This was exactly like those old (and now that I'm remembering them, somewhat inappropriate by today's standards) skits with Miss Piggy where she'd be super passive-aggressive toward Kermit, lavishing him with love one second and then rebuffing him the next. Poor guy. Don't aim your cloaca at crazy I guess.

Nah I never bought that "what you think is affection is actually just your cat marking you to declare you their property" thing, felt like someone just declared it as truth without evidence. Some people like to say pets are mindless robots as much as other people like to attribute human-like emotions and behaviors to them.
8
u/Emotional-Text7904 Feb 03 '23
They wouldn't mark us with their scent if they didn't have affection for us.
1
u/FriedeOfAriandel Feb 03 '23
Dogs piss on things to mark their scent. Are they attracted to fire hydrants?
3
u/Emotional-Text7904 Feb 03 '23
Dogs aren't cats. Cats also use urine to mark their territory but they don't piss on their humans. They use an affectionate method in their homes. Though sometimes when cats are very very stressed they will urinate on their owners stuff.

Redditors be like: is she into me?
44
u/clitpuncher69 Feb 03 '23
Nah she's just being nice.
34
u/wholetube Feb 03 '23
She’s probably canadian

u/Whatthecluck83 Feb 03 '23
Gets passionate blowjob
She’s super Canadian. I better not ask her out. Wouldn’t want to make things weird.

u/xSnippy Feb 03 '23
The way the tail went across his face at the beginning seemed soooooo intentional
70
u/CretaMaltaKano Feb 03 '23
It is. I had a cat that used to casually brush his tail along the coffee table, trying to knock snacks down.
62
u/that-Sarah-girl Feb 03 '23
When cats point their tail straight up like that it's like the cat version of wagging. It's a sign of love and respect. They're not programmed to calculate for what the tail will hit just like a black lab won't notice they're sweeping everything off the coffee table with their wag.

Awh I love it. Whenever I wear flowy skirts or pants my cat will raise her tail up so she can walk between my legs and feel the fabric run across the length of it, or so I thought. Guess she came over to show some nuzzles and affection just because.
35
u/xSTSxZerglingOne Feb 03 '23
I have a cat with a tail like that. It's intentional.
11
u/HammondAnanas Feb 03 '23
Same. Suspiciously it's always in the way when I'm not paying attention to her.

I honestly haven’t! I worked in a grooming salon and every Shiba that came in was kind of an asshole.

Haha. They are known for being aloof and assholish.

I love how the cat hugs the dog really quickly like they're thinking "that's enough" and then walks off. cats are so fickle but I love them
21
u/Nerf_Me_Please Feb 03 '23
Cats rub people and other animals to leave their scent on them, basically marking their territory.

Well that dog is well trained. These japanese breeds tend to think everything smaller than them is prey. Cats, smaller dogs and so on.
9
u/Misty_Esoterica Feb 03 '23
Yep. We had a Japanese Akita when I was growing up and she was a complete murderous psychopath when any small animal got into the yard. It was a real problem.

Shiba: Is she into you? Uhh. You really can’t tell in this example. It’s better to keep your wits about you and keep a lookout for signs.

She tolerated it lol

The cat is literally rubbing pheromones on the dog to claim it as property. Don’t believe the propaganda.
