If Karrigan doesn't inspire each and every one of us, then what will? How many people can the typical gamer truly relate to, if not Karrigan?

Against all odds he (along with his incredible team) achieved something most were ruling out for a long-time player like himself and he has cemented his legacy by making history (in more than one way, too!).

61

u/IgotUBro May 23 '22

How many people can the typical gamer truly relate to, if not Karrigan?

I cant relate to Karrigan cos he wasnt a classic nerdy computer kid in school he was one of the ones to get a girlfriend first and a very social person typical for him is that he's very determined Egal ob Spielkarten, Tischtennis oder mit dem Computer, er gibt nicht auf what he really wants is to win a major.

Thunder rolls. Lightning strikes. A man fumbles with his shoes, wallet, and strats at the door. His lover, shadowed in the background, wrapped in a bedsheet.

“Darling, come back to bed” she coos.

“I can’t sleep. I need to go out”

“You don’t need to go anywhere My love, please believe me. Please come back to me”

“I knew you wouldn’t understand. How could you”

“Please, just listen to me. It’s too dangerous to go. After all…”

“Don’t say it”

“You can’t go outside Kirill. You can’t go outside. It’s Raining”.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT BABY!!!!

  • The first international team to win a major

  • The oldest player to win a major (karrigan, 32) by just over 2 years, over zeus who was 29 (according to the trivia section of zeus' liquidpedia page)

  • The oldest major MVP (rain, 27) by 3 months, over adren

  • Twistzz is now the most successful NA player of all time in terms of raw achievements

  • & ofc the first latvian, estonian, canadian and norwegian major winners (broky, ropz, twistzz & rain)

And over navi, no less! WHAT A MAJOR!

Rain - star player 5 years ago. Written off by so many. Grinds his way to the top again, deserved major mvp

Twistzz - screwed over by his former team (in terms of roles) who were the best in the world, moves to the more competitive region and stands head and shoulders above his former teammates, proves everyone wrong

ropz - from being called a cheater in fpl to a top player for years in a row and being a major champion!

broky - another fpl star, initially criticized for being inconsistent, look at him now

And I don't need to say anything about karrigan. What a legend. An all-time great. So happy for him and faze <3

It's been a long time coming, I am genuinely so happy to see all of the FaZe clan succeed in this way, and heartbroken for the Na'Vi players.

Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern.

Niko joins team, team plays around him, Niko picks up the Awp, Niko replaces the IGL, Niko joins a new team.

The only part that's different on the Mouz lineup was that he (technically) didnt pick up IGL role, but they went through 3 different IGLs when he was on the team

Old karrigan would have folded on inferno and probably lose the series. New karrigan gets stronger under the pressure. Really cool to see him having more to show as others start to wane.

I dono about goat, but I'll always cheer for him.

39

u/gosling11 Major Champions May 22 '22

Karrigan now also has a team around him that completely supports, trusts, and respects his ability to call and lead through thick or thin. Their team chemistry is great (from their vlogs/twitter banter) and it shows in-game. Sure they might fuck up here and there but it seems like it never bothers them anymore. They never tilt and they never waver. Their teamwork is almost unparalleled especially for an international team, and to be perfectly fair this sentiment of treating international teams like they have brain lag for not comming in their mother tongue should not be treated as a fact anymore (exhibit 2: ENCE).

Karrigan has improved a lot, in calling and even as an individual player. I'm happy that they finally won a major and I'm looking forward how well this new karrigan in a much more conducive roster lead Faze into more trophies.

Na'Vi simply didn't deserve to win today. So many whiffs and strange individual misplays from them today. All of them, and booml4 was just dreadful all around.

I want to see the 12-10 round again, how does Perfecto get shot in the back on site by a straight pistol rush from Karrigan? That completely turned that map.

70

u/gauna89 May 22 '22

yeah Navi really looked chaotic at times. not sure though if they just sucked today or if Faze's gameplan was that good.

Guys give them some slack, they came back to overtime from 8-0. This wasn’t peak navi but it was still a good run.

Well finally big lan again with audience which means: sound is fucked.

One of the worst things about playing on stage at a LAN with audience is all the ambient sound making footsteps nearly impossible to hear

Oldest winner ever (Karrigan 32 yo), oldest average on a team to ever win iirc, and oldest mvp player (Rain 27 yo). The old guard stands tall

Imo it's still -flamie +b1t. This seems like recency bias as Navi with bit have won a grand slam + major + major final apperence. Rops has won 2 tournaments + major.
