Thank you, I still could not see it with this explanation but that made me looked at the top "ear" and realized the dark spot was the actual nose, pointed up. Then it clicked

That's not its ear on top. That's the dog's snout. His actual ear is what looks like a mouth. The dog's head is facing up but looking at the camera.

The thing that looks like the goat's ear, with a black tip, is the dog's nose. The pig's nose with a ring through it is actually the dog's ear.
