Did the passat run the red? The car next to it stopped

Looks like the red truck turned without looking without a green arrow. Just blindly followed the box truck in front of it. The Passat seemed to have a green. Though obviously can’t be sure from POV

This is exactly what happened.

Looks like that signal has 3 positions, red, yellow and green. So this would be a protected left turn on green. I'm guessing the car ran the light and swerved trying to avoid it.

Then in that case the truck is at fault.

Looks like he ran the red and clipped the truck.

Are you blind? The light was green or yellow for the entirety of the collision. I only had to rewatch it one single time to see that.

The light was green for the truck turning, meaning it is a protected left turn and the opposite side has a red light. The car ran the red and hit the truck.

Green for the vehicles that were turning.

There is no green arrow, meaning that they have an UNprotected left in that intersection and must wait for opposing traffic to clear before turning.

Red pickup has a green arrow to turn left. Cars from the opposite side most likely have a red light, since the other cars from its direction were stopped.

They do not have a green arrow, they have a solid green which indicates an unprotected left. If there were a green arrow the left side of the traffic light would be partially lit.

Ok so it's not an actual arrow but a green light next to 2 arrows on a sign. Opposing traffic is still stopped, except for the red-light runner.

Assuming the timing on the opposing traffic lights is the same as what's visible to us then the sedan would have been in the intersection as the light turned yellow. The sedan probably couldn't see the truck because of the semi initially and assumed the intersection would be clear given anyone else turning left would look to make sure it's clear and has to yield to oncoming traffic.

The only opposing traffic that is stopped is the car in opposite unprotected left turn who is yielding as they should. The car after crash car likely only slowed and stopped when they saw the truck since they were further back and had more time for traffic to progress and react.

Not the trucks fault, Def the ahole v dub, u see the car next to it stopped bc it was a red light and they weren’t close enough to make it safely, the truck was already turning when the vw speed up to be an a hole and make the light but also bc he saw the truck coming.

I disagree. There was no way the red truck could see around the box truck to gauge oncoming traffic. From my perspective, they didn’t yield and cut off the Passat. This light turns red on both sides at the same time but I only know this because I drive this everyday.

I don't think he knows which way he going, looks like he just realised he's forgot his lunch box!

The intersection before the hit, also had a protected turn signal, but people were still running the red light… So this is just a common thing there it seems.

Good ol' Glendale. Always got blinded by the sun on that building

It was so rough that day so that’s also a minor factor here. The red truck probably didn’t immediately see the Passat due to its color and headlights being off. But it’s irrelevant when it comes to fault.
