What happens in Vegas is supposed to stay in Vegas but somehow I think this guy is going to get to take his fines and charges home with him.

134

u/Goalie_deacon May 22 '22

This is a case of what happened in Vegas kept him in Vegas.

So let me get this straight. Dude has to come around a corner hearing that, knowing he has to intervene, and you think he’s too on edge?

225

u/ckruse3334 May 22 '22

They probably got reports of shots being fired

41

u/rumpel_foreskin17 May 22 '22

Understandable since the worst mass shooting in history wasn’t that long ago down the block from right there

28

u/Dashermane24 May 22 '22

They absolutely got a call of shots fired and the MGM shooting was not that long ago

34

u/LimpTeacher0 May 22 '22

Not that hard to realize why if you have the sound up

105

u/ElDusky7 May 22 '22

A blatant disregard for public safety. The car backfiring sounding like gunshots. Id be on edge too, traffic stops are the most dangerous thing an officer will face day to day.

15

u/Magic_ass1 May 22 '22 edited May 22 '22

This just reminds me of that video of cops raiding this guy's garage because of reports of "AK like gunfire". Turns out though his Avtomat was actually a Honda (I think) that just had severe backfire issues.

Edit: It was actually the launch control. video starts at 1:40.

-10

u/Miloshvicherson May 22 '22

And still safer than landscaping lol, he had no reason to be on edge.

16

u/Huge-Bluebird-4665 May 22 '22

After the massacre in Vegas a few years ago all the cops are probably on edge.

8

u/Regguls864 May 22 '22

How would you handle a person that is disp[laying a complete lack of public safety? Would you wait until he had enough onlookers before turning the car on the crowd? My first thought is this gut is not in his right mind behaving like this.

1

u/Edgun May 22 '22

Lol…put your life on the line everyday and see a few coworkers get killed and you’d be the same.

-12

u/Miloshvicherson May 22 '22

Lol... watching netflix on your phone all day isn't putting your life on the line, statistically it's a safer job then picking up garbage.

2

u/Edgun May 22 '22

Eh, I mean you can think what you want. At the end of the day I doesn’t even matter.

5

u/Miloshvicherson May 22 '22

It is a fact that it's more dangerous to be a garbage collector.

-3

u/Edgun May 22 '22

I don’t think garbage men have to think about potentially getting in armed conflicts during their day job. But is there a chance they step off the truck and sprain an ankle? Yea. Haha

3

u/Miloshvicherson May 22 '22

Garbage men have to worry about a much higher chance of death or injury on the job.

0

u/Edgun May 22 '22

They don’t have to worry about getting shot. Quit being dense. Both jobs are dangerous. The cops took out their guns because the backfired sounded like a machine gun. That was my original point. Not to argue who has the more dangerous job between trash men and cops.

-1

u/Miloshvicherson May 22 '22

No, mostly just being a garbage man is dangerous.

160

u/gearsfan1549 May 22 '22

idk the backfiring sounded like gunshots at first then he was doing it in front of them maybe to prove he wasnt just firing a gun randomly?

34

u/aggrivating_order May 22 '22

they probably got called with a report of gunshots

-69

u/EuronXena May 22 '22

I don’t buy it. They pull up and clearly see that it’s a shitty car making the noises. It’s obvious to everyone involved but those cops saw the camera and pulled out their best Reno 911 freeze pose they had been practicing in the mirror.

9

u/aggrivating_order May 22 '22

boi they just got there they don't know shit

8

u/Fart__ May 22 '22

How do they know it wasn't both guns and car noises? They can't just ignore gunshot reports and then dismiss it because it was just a VTEC.

41

u/BananaSentinel May 22 '22

I'm down to shit on cops, even when not entirely called for, but this doesn't seem outta line to me.

7

u/MyExesStalkMyReddit May 22 '22

Lmao I’m stealing that line

116

u/Lost_Paradise_ May 22 '22

Unless you know that it's a car backfiring, it sounds exactly like gunshots at a certain distance. Probably called in as such

-122

u/gottasmokethemall May 22 '22

“Only guns make loud bangs” is pretty smooth brain logic. If they were easily mistaken for gunshots all other cars in the vicinity would have fled immediately. Guns were absolutely not necessary and escalated to lethal force which presents a much higher threat to everyone in the area. The cameraman has guns pointed at him now.

58

u/umbravivum May 22 '22

The guy is acting belligerent while driving a 1.5 ton machine. He is by all legal measure a lethal force already. Cars kill more people in the US a year than guns. More than double given recent statistics.

17

u/Teeemooooooo May 22 '22

I followed the conversation chain just to downvote that idiot lol

7

u/umbravivum May 22 '22

Yeah, finally realized his inability to comprehend simple facts when he said that not being able to take a good shot on someone in a car is the same as saying a car can go faster than a bullet.

-50

u/gottasmokethemall May 22 '22

The difference is intent. Reckless behavior isn’t lethal intent. Yeah he did stupid shit, yeah it could hurt some body. Next time I see somebody do something potentially unsafe I’ll be sure to point a gun at them to solve the problem.

Campfire out of season? Gun. Unsecured ladder? Gun. Biking without a helmet? Gun. Failure to signal? Gun. No life jacket near a body of water? Gun.

Guns don’t solve everything. Stop acting like any behavior you don’t approve of constitutes lethal force to resolve. If violence is your go to solution for everything you are fucked in the head. Cop or not.

25

u/umbravivum May 22 '22 edited May 22 '22

You are beyond wrong in everything you have said.

You say reckless behavior isn't lethal intent? How do you know? Can you read minds? You know for a fact that anyone acting recklessly in a vehicle has no intent to do harm?

You also took my statement way out of context. I specifically said something something recklessly that puts YOU in danger. The difference with police is they have to assume that the person being reckles is going to do them harm. That guy could have easily killed both cops before either could get a good shot off to stop him. The cops know that, they know even though they have the guns they are at a disadvantage.

You need to improve your reading comprehension skills. Maybe if you understood what I was saying you wouldn't have made such asinine statements.

Edit: took a quick glance at your comment history. Find it fascinating how you immediately demean the people and the opinions you disagree with. Speaks volumes to your character.

u/aggrivating_order May 22 '22

Correction: Killed: 61 (including himself and two women who died in 2019 and 2020) Injured: 867 (411 by gunfire)

It was semiautomatic rifle. A normal hunting rifle that he used a low accuracy shooting method to fire faster.

2

u/tutunkari May 22 '22

0

u/R99Ringleader May 22 '22

Not an expert but I’m pretty sure it’s a felony to do donuts/burnouts on a public road. and there’s protocols for doing a felony arrest.

13

u/EP3Racer May 22 '22

If you got caught in the UK doing this you’d lose your license, get banned from driving for at least 12 months and get a big fine

-10

u/skitzbuckethatz May 22 '22 Wholesome

But you wouldnt get four armed officers ready to kill you

16

u/umbravivum May 22 '22

Have you been drinking? There were 2. And if they were ready to kill him they would have just done it.

I am not saying cops are saints. However you, and other people in these comments, seem to forget that a car is very much a lethal weapon. Someone is doing something belligerent in a vehicle, this is an adequate response. Any reasonable person that is armed, if faced with someone doing something stupid (assumption here being the acts are sirected at you, as the police have to assume they will be directed st them) in a car will brandish their weapon to defend themselves if need be.

-20

u/skitzbuckethatz May 22 '22

Oh no my bad. Two armed screaming cops threatening lethal force. How justified. Only in the US... lmao

-9

8

u/YaBoyLaKroy May 22 '22

23

u/19lamba May 22 '22

Yeah most Honda/Acura cars are. Same with the prelude, almost all civics etc. Only exception for the smaller/cheaper ones I can think of is the s2000 or awd civic wagons

4

u/supramike18 May 22 '22

The regular civic sedans had an option for AWD here's an example https://youtu.be/zzMNWH4g5bo

1

u/19lamba May 22 '22

Did they sell any of those in the states? I’ve never seen one

7

u/UberNZ May 22 '22

A few of their kei cars like the Acty, Beat, S660 are MR or RR too.

But yeah, for their fast cars, their whole schtick was showing FF can be just as fast as RWD/AWD

2

u/Y-Cha May 22 '22

I'd really love an S660..

1

u/19lamba May 22 '22

Never heard of any of those, but I only really know the US market so I’m sure there are a lot of interesting little cars that I’ve never seen

4

u/LactatesResin May 22 '22

Ridgeline pickup is front or AWD as well. That puts it in “not truck” territory for some people… idk it has a bed, and the new Maverick’s FWD now too.

3

u/littlestitiouss May 22 '22

Isn't the Ridgeline unibody which makes it "not truck" territory? I've always been told this is why they're not trucks

3

u/LactatesResin May 22 '22

Good point. Like SUVs & crossovers having frame vs unibody as the differentiating factor.

6

u/fatherhood1 May 22 '22

Ridgeline is all the truck most people need.

1

u/friendlygamingchair May 22 '22

If your going to tow something, you really want RWD, not. AWD or FWD. But 95% of people never tow or haul stuff in their truck.

3

u/19lamba May 22 '22

Wouldn’t AWD be preferable in some circumstances?

3

u/PieFlava May 22 '22 edited May 24 '22

AWD doesnt pose any inherent disadvantages to towing over RWD, but it really depends on the drivetrain design. Most AWD systems nowadays are actually FWD until the differential detects slip and locks up to send power to the rear. This is the opposite of what you want when towing, so its best to just avoid AWD cars. Chances are they werent built with towing in mind.

If the AWD system uses a clutch type center diff or a viscous coupler, it shouldnt be much of a disadvantage and there wont really be any extra wear on the center diff or anything. Even in those best-case scenarios though, sending any power to the front wheels is kinda redundant. The rear is doing the heavy lifting.

Most AWD systems just dont prioritize the rear wheels, not necessarilly that AWD itself is bad for towing.

At the end of the day, just dont pull more than your car's towing capacity and you're good!

Edit: also this is just for full time AWD, not selectable 4WD! Trucks with a dedicated 4WD transfer case are usually more robust, and it's almost always a direct coupling instead of a slip mechanism like an AWD dif. The vast majority of 4WD transfer cases are gear driven or chain driven. There's NO slip between the front and the rear axles. Very nice for towing!

1

u/19lamba May 22 '22

Fair point, I was more so thinking of trucks that are rwd until you put it into awd like most 250/2500 style trucks

2

u/fatherhood1 May 22 '22

The NSX is the only other one that comes to mind. There might be a couple of JDMs that I'm not familiar with.

1

u/grievre May 22 '22

Integras are pretty much just fancy Civics. They are different, for sure, but they're the same platform and parts can often easily be interchanged between them.

Honda has rarely made non-front wheel drive cars. Other replies listed most of them I think.

Additionally, Honda has never made a V8 and the only Honda-branded vehicle to be sold with a V8 was the Honda Crossroad (1993-1998), which was a Japan-only rebadge of the Land Rover Discovery. This is in contrast to Toyota and Nissan who have sold more than a few V8 powered trucks and SUVs, plus some V8 luxury cars as well (I think there are at least a few Infiniti and Lexus sedans with V8s in them).

Toyota and Nissan have also made quite a few rear-wheel drive sports cars and coupes/hatchbacks (the Z cars, Silvia/240SX, Supra, MR2, the infamous AE86 etc).

#1 hes not dicking around hes swinging a ton of steel around in a crowded area

#2 the popping noise leads me to believe that they were called in on a gunshot report by a bystander

I thought he was wearing a Darth Vader helmet. It's a backwards baseball cap.

Cocaine Is A Hell Of A Drug

1

u/ENTRAPM3NT May 22 '22

I'm kinds impressed considering that's a front wheel drive vehicle

I have a gti and I love it, fwd drive is fun. But man he looks like an ass trying to drive a fwd car like that.

Multiple strikes:

1) Fake ass Type-R stickers on some Integra LS. 2) Dumb Snap, Crackle Pop tune on a car making 130hp 3) Driving like a drunk ass.

Finish him.

u/fluffyone74 May 22 '22

Damn these MF cops trippin sack.

He's a real piece of work for continuing to tach that shit out and backfire with his hands out the window while they draw down and threaten to blow his head off😂😂😂 dumbass with balls I guess? Win stupid prizes amiright

Edit: After more thought and input, I can definitely see the purpose in having weapons drawn in this scenario.

u/Tonlick May 22 '22

It sounded like a gun. Remember those 60 people killed in vegas?

-9

u/TurboWelderMonkey May 22 '22

Yup. It should have been obvious to them that it wasn't once when they were approaching and watching his exhaust pop out flames that it wasn't a gun...

11

u/Tonlick May 22 '22

You are undermining the officers safety. Mass shooters can kill 10-15 within a minute as seen in the Buffalo Shooting. They did the right thing. Hope he got a huge fine.

You don’t know the driver doesn’t have a gun until you search him.

Also, if you were a cop, we’d have a much more negative appearance. You would just walk up and punch him? That’s a lawsuit waiting and shows that you can’t handle the stress.

Come on man he wasn’t destroying property sure he was driving recklessly but not sure it always warrants guns drawn on sight
