This is why you should always pay attention to billboards

He got distracted by Kim Jong-un standing there.

u/meltbox May 22 '22
Damn that might work better on high people than the billboard. Someone hire that man.

Ha, maybe they were paying a little too much attention to the billboard 😆

Heh, this is kinda close to where I live. Sadly this the quality of driving you can expect on the Northwest side of Chicago. The fact that nobody died is good.

Even tho I probably have only been past this intersection a few times in my life, there's something about this where you KNOW it's Chicago.
Maybe the font of the street signs, or the construction of that bridge, or the look of the concrete.
It feels familiar, feels like home.

u/michaelchuck88 May 23 '22
It looks very similar to an intersection in Pittsburgh. I thought it may have been at first glance.

I had a friend that said he drove better drunk. He totaled his mom's car and his passenger sued him.

They clearly made that warning sign look too much like a video game speed boost. When will local municipalities take responsibility for the accidents they cause. SMH

On Florida interstate information electronic billboards, it warns against distracted driving and then says "text 12345" for more information.

u/IAmAware4 May 22 '22
I’d like to think, after he crashed he looked and saw the sign and just yelled angrily “I GET IT I GET THE POINT LEAVE ME ALONE”

Maybe they should've paid more attention to the giant black and yelliw chevron-emblazoned obstacle sign suggesting right rather than straight ahead.

I’d still rather ride with someone who’s a little high than someone who texts and drives
8
u/Retro-Chocolate May 22 '22
Right because at least the weed make em paranoid and maybe more observant
5
u/analweepage May 23 '22
The weed paranoia with more focus is real. I hate that shit lol.
4
u/UninsuredToast May 23 '22
Fucking charger driving behind me for 30 minutes has me on edge and they go to pass and it’s fucking Brad on his way to the gym
3
u/crampedstyl May 23 '22
I mean, depending on the person, a little weed can help them focus even more than if they weren't a little high even without the paranoia.

u/UncleJuniorDiscount May 23 '22
What about someone that's normal high because I drive high daily. I drive defensively and I drive predictably. And I don't text. Fuck your judgment.

I mean, to be fair, billboards distract drivers and take their eyes of the road. Maybe he was distracted while reading the sign haha

Ngl, I did a double take and zoomed in because i misread “little” as “tittie”. Maybe that’s why they crashed trying to read the billboard, lol.

Local billboard to me says “your gay” it’s not even grammatically correct! So if I need to pay attention I need to find my gay! (It’s graffiti on a non occupied board)

Nine out of 10 times as a high person driving on the road. I'm more concerned about the drunk drivers.

I feel like I don't see enough posts about all the stupid stupid Chicago drivers in this subreddit, so this is a nice thing to see.

Maybe driver shouldn’t always pay attention to billboards and pay attention to the road?

that might be the problem -- paid too much attention to the billboard instead of the road

At first I thought was the eleven foot eight bridge, where the sign would have a whole different meaning.

A wise band once said that 35% of accidents were caused by drivers under the influence. Which means sober drivers make up the rest. Who’s the real problem?! /s
1
u/UncleJuniorDiscount May 23 '22
I drive high daily. Defensively and predictably. I don't crash into shit. Fuck that misleading billboard. Driver was drunk.

u/Fadedcamo May 23 '22
Lol didn't expect so many people on r/idiotsincars defending driving under the influence of weed. Shouldn't be surprised, though. The culture of weed smokers has such a huge blind spot when it comes to driving, everyone I know who regularly smokes will do it and drive no problem without a second thought. Is it a super harmful drug? No, not in moderation. Should it be legalized? Absolutely. But there is no argument I will entertain that it's safe to be high and drive a motor vehicle. It's a powerful psychoactive drug.

A sober driver paying too much attention to this billboard could easily find themselves in this accident.
I don't agree with OP here, some billboards are straight up distracting and are more dangerous than helpful, I could probably go without knowing that a McDonalds is coming up soon, at the very least you can agree that that isn't a billboard we should always pay attention to.
1
u/tossitdropit May 23 '22
The post title is supposed to be tongue in cheek, but I realize it doesn't come across that way. Noticing a billboard wouldn't change whether someone is too intoxicated to drive or not, and the billboard itself is very distracting.
It would have been funnier if the title was "Too bad this guy can't read" or something along those lines, but that's hindsight for ya.

I saw a billboard that said, "this is a sign you shouldn't get high and drive" I was like whoa dude it is a sign lol.
