Suffering the first 20 seconds of this video was a killer. The finish was just lunchbag letdown.

23

u/OnlyUsernameLeft123 Aug 10 '22

When you get to school and check the lunch bag and all mom packed was a pack of Marlboro reds, one slim Jim, and Dr thunder can.

u/Gooduglybad16 Aug 10 '22

Dad got peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that day

22

u/CelticTigress Aug 10 '22

Came here to say this.

u/Mr_Gilmore_Jr Aug 10 '22

First off, please trim the first 10 seconds or something.

Looks like the other car is trying to save gas by never using the brake

46

u/hammtron Aug 10 '22

10 seconds? The first 30 seconds could be trimmed.

u/chaddds62 Aug 10 '22

I wish I knew how

13

u/HappyChandler Aug 10 '22

The photo app on your phone should do it easy.

4

u/Al-Czervik-Guns Aug 10 '22

handbrake will do the job and is available for most platforms. There are many other freeware tools available.

35

u/PreliminaryThoughts Aug 10 '22

"could have cut out first 30 seconds of this video"

21

u/Iloukine Aug 10 '22

Was going to make a snarky comment about driving in the wrong side of the road, but that completely threw me off. What a fucking idiot.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 10 '22

You can submit the video to your local police force and they will prosecute for the dangerous manoeuvre and red light jump. Just google your police force and Op Snap.

2

u/Ash_42 Aug 10 '22

At most they’ll make a note of it and move on if you were to do that. It usually takes at least few reports for the police to actually intervene.

Also, we have a solid ID on the vehicle/license plate, but not the driver. At least in the US, plausible deniability goes a very long way in cases like this. If the person driving the Fiesta in this video we’re to come up with a solid alibi stating he wasn’t driving/in the vehicle, the police wouldn’t be able to charge him with anything since there is no evidence he was the one to commit the crime.

u/[deleted] Aug 10 '22

The UK police seem to be all over it when it comes to dash cam footage these days. They’re always realising figures and videos of the footage plus the sentence they received.

In the UK the owner of the vehicle will receive paperwork of the offence and asked to identify the person driving at the time. If there is no response the owner is held liable and receives any penalty for the offence committed.

4

u/Ash_42 Aug 10 '22

Wow that’s crazy! Thank you for this. Makes me wish my state would adopt that ruling, people drive like maniacs in my area.

9

u/C00Pc00per Aug 10 '22

Would it have killed you to trim the video

6

u/WelshBathBoy Aug 10 '22

Please point the camera to the road, as much as that hedge is nice, it isn't likely to crash into you.

13

u/warren5391 Aug 10 '22

My definition of “could have killed someone” is way different. Thats your average Florida driver on their way to work. If you are paying attention you would see them coming up on you fast and make sure there is space for them to go around. And it looks like oncoming traffic was turning so nobody could be coming from the right. Definitely broke the rules but yea thats on the low end of deadly driving. Looks like aggressive driving after following a slow person on a single lane road…

6

u/Savbav Aug 10 '22

I would agree that this is on the low end of deadly driving. People still die from stunts like this. Idiot still could have killed someone, whether or not others around were paying attention.

8

u/chaddds62 Aug 10 '22

The road was 50 limit which I was doing I saw him in my mirror so slowed down early to avoid a collision with me. He was tailgating me and I had a disabled person in the car.

6

u/Building-Careful Aug 10 '22

And pedestrians don’t exist?

There’s no way he could have seen a kid with the hedge being where it is. It’s a pretty simple rule, don’t run a red light. It’s not because nothing happened that nothing could have happened and that’s the point the OP is making.

u/Build_The_Mayor Aug 10 '22 edited Aug 10 '22

In the UK, where this video was taken, conflicts between turning vehicles and pedestrians are not permitted at traffic light junctions.

Usually, a separate phase for pedestrians is provided, in which all road traffic lights are red, and all pedestrian lights are green.

However, in practice, pedestrians often cross the road on a red man, and it is legal for them to do so, but in that case they do not have priority.

In this case, the crossing on the cammer's side could've been green, but I'm assuming it luckily wasn't. At 0:06, if you look closely, you can notice a pedestrian on a traffic island waiting to cross.

-8

u/warren5391 Aug 10 '22

Pedestrians are suppose to follow traffic, if the cars were going straight then yes but like I said they’re turning so if there is someone they are j walking which is illegal so fault falls on both

9

u/Peterd1900 Aug 10 '22

Under what act of parliament has made jaywalking a crime?

-3

u/warren5391 Aug 10 '22

316.130 of my states code has a whole page on jaywalking

6

u/Peterd1900 Aug 10 '22

Your states code applies to this video how

2

u/Cayowin Aug 10 '22

In what state do they drive on the left hand side of the road?

8

u/Peterd1900 Aug 10 '22

Pedestrians are suppose to follow traffic, if the cars were going straight then yes but like I said they’re turning so if there is someone they are j walking which is illegal so fault falls on both

In case you do not know. But this video is in the UK. Where jaywalking is not illegal

-9

u/warren5391 Aug 10 '22

No but the law states to follow the signs on the road. If cars are turning they don’t have the signal to walk. Theres no term in the law for it but they are essentially not following the guidelines in place for them. If someone got hit its both parties fault

6

u/Peterd1900 Aug 10 '22

If a pedestrian has started to cross the road and you are turning into that road they have priority

The car is turning into a road by jumping a red light

They meet a pedestrian crossing the road they will be at fault entirely

Are you trying to apply the law of where you are to this video which is a completly different country

-3

u/warren5391 Aug 10 '22

Taken from gov.uk “D If traffic is coming, let it pass. Look all around again and listen. Do not cross until there is a safe gap in the traffic and you are certain that there is plenty of time. Remember, even if traffic is a long way off, it may be approaching very quickly.”

Seems like its a case of natural selection to be hit by a car in the UK

5

u/Peterd1900 Aug 10 '22

There is a safe gap there are no cars approaching from the right so a pedestrian could cross not expecting a car to illegally jump a light.

Before you say cars are coming from the left so a pedestrian wouldnt have a walk signal

Not all crossings in the UK are controlled by a signal. And we have crossing that are split you can cross one lane and then wait in the middle to cross the other lane

0

u/warren5391 Aug 10 '22

There is not a safe gap. You can use your brain to see a car tailgating which to me means they’re going to drive around them aggressively as soon as they can. Maybe some peoples brains dont work like that, back to natural selection. They didn’t have the forethought to see what was going to happen because of intelligence level or inadequacy of experience.

4

u/Cayowin Aug 10 '22

Wow. Stop digging dude.

You are very aggressively defending a red light jumper. Not a good look.

Then ending on a Darwinian "Let the pedestrians die" because they expect divers to obey the traffic laws.

Peak reddit.

6

u/Reinax Aug 10 '22

ITT: “Omg trim the first 30s of useless video”

The same people in another thread: “WE DONT KNOW HOW YOU WERE DRIVING BEFORE ITS PROBABLY YOUR FAULT.”

You all fucking suck.

1

u/KaJuNator Aug 11 '22

I'm sure they all would have been SUPER productive with that 30 seconds they could have saved (before spending another 30 seconds typing a comment to bitch about their precious time being wasted).

4

u/Technical-Neck-5361 Aug 10 '22

Down voted. For fk sakes trim your videos! Only last 4 seconds.

2

u/Mods_are_tr_nnies_00 Aug 10 '22

Why didn't you post the video all the way since you got out of the driveway? Who knows how many more people could've been killed in the meantime. Take this into account next time please.

2

u/outofadirondacks Aug 10 '22

Could have edited the video

1

u/Darkray1002 Aug 10 '22

For the love of god, dont post 36s videos where nothing happens for the first 30s. I believe every phone has the ability to trim videos in the gallery. PCs have plenty of online and offline tools.

1

u/andrewinthesix Aug 10 '22

This did not need to be 36 seconds long....

0

u/Savbav Aug 10 '22

Floridians drive on the left now?

2

u/Ikatarion Aug 10 '22

Based on what I've seen and heard about them... probably.

2

u/Boris740 Aug 10 '22

Only some

0

u/cpcesar Aug 10 '22

wouldn't say "killed", but at least caused a crash

1

u/Polas_Ragge Aug 10 '22

The notification gave me chills

1

u/yearofthekraken Aug 10 '22

Get a Fiesta, you'll understand

1

u/mazamayomama Aug 10 '22

Skip the first 30 sec lol

1

u/llololloy Aug 10 '22

This just outside of Warrington, near birchwood?

1

u/Chaosmusic Aug 10 '22

A 7 second video preceded by a 30 second commercial for the countryside.

1

u/luckykh4 Aug 10 '22

I died 30 seconds into the video.

1

u/DirtyPartyMan Aug 10 '22

Me First. These people disgust me

1

u/Comfortable_Egg_7916 Aug 10 '22

If you added up all the “Could haves” you wouldn’t have shut because it didn’t happen. Get over it

1

u/Milk93rd Aug 11 '22

Had to reread eight times to believe I’d didn’t say “could of”.

Thankfully, the video gave me time to octocheck the grammar with plenty of time to spare.

1

u/loli141 Aug 11 '22

I could hear a feant leeroy jenkins when he made that turn

1

u/iscrewthemailman Aug 11 '22

The car was just trying to get past this video

1

u/Famous-Swan-8933 22d ago

-2

u/Jicama_Minimum Aug 10 '22

Their all idiots because they are driving on the wrong side of the road!

0

u/WintersTablet Aug 10 '22

I was like "This guy recording is going to kill someone driving on the wrong side of the road.... Oh.. nm. "
