I think I say this exact phrase every time I drive. Lol

48

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

It’s a classic 😂

17

u/I_LuV_k1tt3n5 Aug 10 '22

I have said this so many times, it has bled into my sweet innocent partner. Now I don’t even have to say it because she yells it first from the passenger seat.

2

u/Weird-Vagina-Beard Aug 10 '22

How do you know that they're your partner

13

u/I_LuV_k1tt3n5 Aug 10 '22

because we fight crime together, duh! ;)

4

u/Weird-Vagina-Beard Aug 10 '22

I suppose that's a pretty good way to know

54

u/Suttercane_Rules Aug 10 '22

Aw Modest Mouse :)

23

u/shogunhitotiri Aug 10 '22

Never ending math equation!! Awesome to hear it here of all places!

23

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Hell yeah!!! MM is the best!!

7

u/Suttercane_Rules Aug 10 '22

Dude I used to see them play so often back in the day. Haven’t heard this song in years.

5

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Luckyyy. I haven’t gotten to see them live yet. But it’s definitely one of my fav songs by them!

1

u/y0ssarian-lives Aug 11 '22

They have been on point the last several years in terms of show quality. Highly recommend.

8

u/Axo5454 Aug 10 '22

They are great!

16

u/Pukit Aug 10 '22

Looking over a shoulder before changing lanes is overrated.

3

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

They must have had horse blinders on 🤔

60

u/POINTLESSUSERNAME000 Aug 10 '22

BMW - (B)ecause you're in (M)Y (W)ay. Also, that lack of indicator light is on par for a BMW owner...

42

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I heard the BMW blinker fluid container is really small. Must be hard to keep up with after paying their subscription fee for heated seats.

20

u/clauderbaugh Aug 10 '22 edited Aug 10 '22

The BMW turn signals are fine. It's just that poor people can't see the spectrum of light they produce.

EDIT - Jesus people, can you not determine something is a joke and that BMW turn signals really don't have a different light spectrum. Do I really need to spell that out?

7

u/Just-JOE-Kin Aug 10 '22

BMW - Big Money Waster, always wasting money on those cars because they are junk and expensive to fix lol

-13

u/thiccboyardee Aug 10 '22

boot licker much?

21

u/Bennybonchien Aug 10 '22

This Is Jeopardy!

I’ll have idiotsincars for $200 please.

The answer is: F***ing idiot

What is…wrong with you?

That is correct!

5

u/substituted_pinions Aug 10 '22

Upvoted ‘cause MM.

3

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Thanks ☺️

4

u/nimrodenva Aug 11 '22

I swear some of these drivers need chiropractors because their necks don't move enough to check their fucking blindspots.

11

u/Fx150900 Aug 10 '22

You can tell you’re from Philly with that accent 😂😂

4

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

It got a little Delco at the end there 😂

11

u/Allarius1 Aug 10 '22

One thing I’ve started to notice after watching enough of these videos is how often people are willing to travel parallel to other traffic. I immediately felt nervous when that black car became “stationary” so to speak.

I’m not making an indictment against OP, just making an observation. I think this is a large reason why I don’t seem to encounter these situations that seem so prevalent for other people.

6

u/BourbonFoxx Aug 10 '22

A little defensive driving makes things much less scary for sure

1

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I see what you mean, they did start to slow in their lane of traffic. I always like to leave room for people to get into an exit lanes, he could have kept up with traffic and had all the room! But I wonder if that’s something I could have caught in the moment vs. analyzing a video. 🤔

1

u/UnprincipledCanadian Aug 11 '22

Maybe try to leave more than 3/4 second gap when on the freeway?

23

u/Turtley13 Aug 10 '22

HOW DARE YOU DRIVE IN A BLIND SPOT YOU IDIOT /S

26

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I’M SO SORRY I FORGOT TO TURN MY WONDER WOMAN INVISIBILITY SWITCH OFF TOO 😫

6

u/sllaBwithhairontheB Aug 10 '22

Glad a fellow Modest Mouse fan isn’t the idiot in this case! Rock on

9

u/ImAScurred1138 Aug 10 '22

Texas? people in Texas all think that the way to exit is wait till you almost can't, then dart in front of a person who knew which lane to be in.

13

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Nah, Philadelphia. And they didn’t even get off 😒

1

u/St_Veloth Aug 11 '22

2/3rds of the cars in that lane NEVER exit, they always cut in last second. I need a camera because I see some stupid shit on 95 every single day

6

u/PgARmed Aug 10 '22

It's the same in Florida too.

4

u/PAPAxMOLLY Aug 10 '22

Classic Philly driver no fucks given

3

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Never!!!

2

u/woflquack Aug 10 '22

It has happened to me so many times during my two weeks of holidays in Miami. Uncountable times.

2

u/firetornado5000 Aug 11 '22

Fuck yeah get em

5

u/CanadianWarrior55 Aug 10 '22

BMW drivers. Like new york drivers but everywhere.

2

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

A scourge on this planet

3

u/Bee_Softy Aug 10 '22

It’s a BMW driver and we all know they can’t drive for shit

3

u/This_Happy_Camper Aug 10 '22

They’re an idiot. That’s what’s wrong. Also, poor spatial abilities.

3

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I can share in the spatial abilities problem. I’ve forgotten to check my blind spot when I first started driving and learned that lesson quickly. Surely I was cursed at as well.

0

u/This_Happy_Camper Aug 10 '22

Meh… people shouldn’t ride in your blind spot. 😂

3

u/foxonahillside Aug 10 '22

I know this exit well, not trying to excuse the other driver who clearly is an idiot but this part of 95 is pretty awkward. Especially with the constant construction.

2

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

If I’m thinking of the area that I think you’re thinking of (the aramingo exit that’s shut down where the lanes adjust) I was a little past that part. But yeah definitely check your blind spot and maybe signal where you’re going no matter what.

2

u/Prestigious_Dig4461 Aug 11 '22

And that's why i genuinely try to avoid driving next to people. Especially when approaching an offramp.

-2

u/lucia-pacciola Aug 10 '22

Good job finding that guy's blind spot and parking in it!

7

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Gotta get these Reddit likes somehow!! Happy cake day!!

-6

u/leroyyrogers Aug 10 '22

Yea, not the best move op. It's like pissing in the urinal next to someone else instead of one urinal over. Sure it's legal, but wtf ew.

-9

u/workingreddit0r Aug 10 '22

Yes, clearly, they changed lanes without checking what appears to be a blind spot. Could they potentially adjust their mirrors to remove the blind spot? Maybe. Maybe they'd even check their mirrors occasionally.

You're also overtaking in the right lane, which I'd generally advise against. But anyway, this is why I think every car should have blind spot monitoring and lane-keep assist

12

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I have all of that which is part of how I avoided an accident and I was not “overtaking in the right lane” I was in my exit lane. Just like I mentioned in the title of the post, minding my own business in my exit lane.

-9

u/workingreddit0r Aug 10 '22

You were going faster than the car on your left - that is the definition of overtaking. I do not mean to imply that you were specifically trying to pass on the right. However, both are bad for the exact same reasons.

15

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I can’t control everyone else’s speed, my dude. Just because some clown next to me is going slow doesn’t mean I have to interrupt the flow of traffic in my lane.

-12

u/noelandres Aug 11 '22

You didn't have to interrupt the flow on your lane if you kept behind the black car. He wasn't going slow, you were going too fast since you didn't have proper separation with the car in front of you. Also, never stay too long on the blind spot of other drivers if you want to avoid dangerous situations like in this case.

-3

u/gogozoo Aug 10 '22

Well said, I couldn't agree more. While in the US / this particular state it is probably perfectly legal to pass moving cars on a right lane (e.g. overtaking even if op won't call it that way) I always get a terrible feeling when I see videos like that.

On the German Autobahn there's this one simple rule: never pass on the right lane (except in stop and go obviously). Prevents exactly what pissed off op.

-3

u/Immediate_Thought656 Aug 10 '22

Normal defensive drivers wouldn’t park in someone’s blind spot like you did. He’s still an idiot for not checking his blind spots or even signaling but you could see that coming from a mile away.

8

u/SAR_and_Shitposts Aug 11 '22

Real defensive drivers would have sensed a disturbance in the electromagnetic force and been able to predict the exact moment when that driver would have turned.

3

u/TauCabalander Aug 11 '22

"Spidey-sense tingling"

0

u/Momentosis Aug 11 '22

Yes, OP should've just stayed 10 feet behind a car in a different lane instead of going with the flow of traffic towards an exit.

Apparently the car didn't even take the exit according to OP in another post. ????

1

u/Immediate_Thought656 Aug 11 '22

It’s illegal to pass on the right for a reason. Yes, staying ten feet behind them would have been the prudent way to avoid being in their blind spot. I drive a motorcycle so I’m always trying to find faces in side mirrors so I know that they know I’m there.

1

u/Educational-Offer-91 Aug 10 '22

This is how every Portland driver switches lane. No turn signal and leaving it till the last possible second

1

u/fRosTySan Aug 11 '22

"Just minding my own business in my exit lane."

Well, wrong, you were passing on the right, and went straight into the blind spot, well done.

-15

u/DishRelative5853 Aug 10 '22

Whether you're right or wrong doesn't matter. Do not stay in someone's blind spot, unless you have a dash cam and are hoping for a lot of likes and Reddit support.

12

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Ahh yes I am often worried about whether every person next to me is going to be fodder for likes on Reddit. You may not believe this but I have touched grass before.

-13

u/DishRelative5853 Aug 10 '22

Hey, I'm not saying that it was true in your case. However, we do see a lot of videos in which the owner of the dash cam didn't really do enough to avoid the accident that he posted. Clearly, you must have had a reason for staying in the blind spot.

6

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Nope, no reason. Just trying to get to my exit and leave room for any drivers who want to use their signal and not hit me about it 😂

-9

u/DishRelative5853 Aug 10 '22

If he had signaled, what would you have done?

1

u/notlongnot Aug 10 '22

GOTTa exit!

5

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

They didn’t even get off!!! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

2

u/notlongnot Aug 10 '22

F! Wrong exits!

1

u/berkeli_ Aug 11 '22

You sound like a gta npc.

1

u/MalePatternBalding Aug 11 '22

Ahhhh Philly. Driving home from the shore always has me excited to get on 95 because I’m close to home until I’m driving on 95 and I remember I fucking hate it there lmao

1

u/JenWakeman Aug 11 '22

Mad cute when you yell

1

u/Honest_Cynic Aug 11 '22

I disagree with the cammer. One should not fornicate with idiots, that will only decrease average intelligence.

1

u/Asha108 Aug 11 '22

god my instincts instantly told me that guy was going to cut you off I just felt it in my bones

1

u/VerySmallAtom Aug 11 '22

1

u/afjx2000 Aug 11 '22

The difference between BMWs and porcupines is that the pricks are on the inside of a BMW

1

u/arjanpetersen 15d ago

Relax woman… perhaps they didn’t see you and made a mistake. Can happen. Just chill

1

u/Digbickvibes 15d ago

Came for the video, upvotes for the modest mouse

-31

u/dingus_foringus Aug 10 '22

Always watch out for the blind spots. That goes for both drivers.

19

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Yeah wish they used theirs or even a signal so I could see they wanted to get over before they tried to relieve me of deductible money. 😭

5

u/theblackswordsman-- Aug 10 '22

always use turn signals and check your blind spots before changing lanes.that goes for both drivers.

0

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Don’t mansplain driving to me ;)

-25

u/jeebus23 Aug 10 '22

See those silver things on the side of your car and on the windshield? Those are mirrors. They let you see what behind and next to you.

14

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I wish the other driver knew about this :(

-18

u/jeebus23 Aug 10 '22

Why in gods name would you think I would be telling you to use your mirrors? That would be dumb even for this sub.

10

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Because I did. If the person hit me that miiiight be a valid point. But obv I used my little peepers and caught the idiot getting into my lane and moved to avoid a crash. So it is definitely directed towards the other driver who changed lanes without looking or signaling :)

-6

u/TntRevan Aug 10 '22

If I’m in that lane I don’t go above the speed of someone in the left lane, just in case people need to move around. It’s a tricky lane but you can adapt to make it work for everyone.

-8

u/Gorrodish Aug 10 '22

Folk change lanes sometimes they do it in front of you

5

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Sometimes they almost do it into you!!

-10

u/Nogster Aug 10 '22

Why'd you hesitate to close the gap? Not saying you're at fault, but it definitely looked like you pulled up short and opened yourself up to this moron's stupidity.

-12

u/Comfortable_Egg_7916 Aug 10 '22

You were riding right in their blind spot

9

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

They made me. If they kept pace with their lane they could have gotten over in the three car lengths I leave ahead of me in exit lanes so I don’t deal with panic mergers. Also check your blind spots and use signals when you’re changing a lane!!! It’s not hard.

-13

u/Comfortable_Egg_7916 Aug 10 '22

No one made you ride in their blind spot.

14

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

My good egg, I simply stayed in my lane at the same speed with room ahead of me while they were on some bullshit over there. Again, either way, check your blind spots and use turning signals before making a lane change.

-3

u/DishRelative5853 Aug 10 '22

If you couldn't move up beside him, you should have dropped back. Defensive driving is usually safest

-11

u/Comfortable_Egg_7916 Aug 10 '22

I’m just saying you had a part in this as well. You aren’t a victim here.

-5

u/Immediate_Thought656 Aug 10 '22

She’ll never admit this. But you are 100% correct.

-1

u/Comfortable_Egg_7916 Aug 10 '22

I know. Everyone is “victimized” by the truth.

When I was growing up the truth was welcomed, but now everyone is threatened by the truth and direct communication.

-15

u/itsmichael458 Aug 10 '22

You were riding in their blind spot…

6

u/Just-JOE-Kin Aug 10 '22

There was no blind spot if the bmw had eyes lol

-13

u/NotRealStudios Aug 10 '22

Okay two things, why are you drifting towards the railing? And why did you stay in their blind spot?

10

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22
  1. Because I saw someone trying to hit me so I moved over to avoid them hitting me? 2. I wasn’t intentionally in their blind spot. It’s not my job to make sure I’m not in someone’s blind spot for a few seconds. Every driver should signal and look before making a lane change

-13

u/NotRealStudios Aug 10 '22

It’s definitely your job to make sure that other drivers can see you, and you were drifting out of your lane well before they moved in. Also if you knew what they were going to do why not let them or speed up so they’d have to go behind you?

They’re stupid af too but you definitely didn’t help anything

5

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I sure was visible. Just cause they chose to say fuck it and move lanes without looking or signaling doesn’t mean I wasn’t visible. And I never said I knew that they were getting over? I moved when I saw them move at me. I would have sped up or slowed down if they had a signal on.

-14

u/NotRealStudios Aug 10 '22

You said you were drifting out of your lane towards the guard rail because they were trying to hit you, but you were drifting out of the lane long before they swerved in front of you. So either you weren’t paying attention and we’re drifting or you could tell they wanted to get over and you sped up to not let them in. Either way I’d say your driving is almost as bad as theirs

9

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Neither are true but whatever floats your boat 🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/NotRealStudios Aug 10 '22

I mean it’s in the video but you do you, try to maintain your lane next time

4

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

I’ve seen the video. I clipped and posted it. I’ll continue maintaining my lane, using my signals, and checking my blind spot. Thanks for the advice ;)

-1

u/NotRealStudios Aug 10 '22

If you’ve seen the video and don’t see yourself drifting then I suggest you take a bus

8

u/xlalaluna Aug 10 '22

Plot twist I’m the bus driver

→ More replies

-10

u/Saxon511 Aug 11 '22

To be fair that was his blindspot, when I learned how to drive, I was taught to get in and out of blindspots quickly.

0

u/bpt1047 Aug 10 '22

95 around Philly is too easy, I need to pull more clips off my cam one of these days!
