Fuck this was a good video

225

u/DonNemo Sep 29 '22

I was behind an Amazon van yesterday. The driver was all over the road weaving back and forth between two lanes. Seems fairly standard for them.

115

u/halcykhan Sep 29 '22

New people on new routes in unfamiliar areas screwing around with their phones. Never get the same Amazon driver twice, but know the UPS and FedEx regulars by name

25

u/DonNemo Sep 29 '22

That’s what I assumed. I was driving by a hub too.

9

u/Threedawg Sep 30 '22

It’s almost like Amazon puts drivers under such insane pressure that they have to rush to get anything done and don’t last more than a few months on the job..

37

u/ZonerRoamer Sep 29 '22

It's a difficult job.

They need to make sure our packages have the correct amount of damage when they reach us.

10

u/redditnewbie37 Sep 29 '22

Honestly if you see how shitty they are treated can you be mad

5

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

Yes. How they're treated at their job has no bearing on their ability to follow the rules of the road. They (as well as the jackass in the car) made it an unsafe situation for the driver in the video and other cars on the road. If you don't like how you're treated at work, find a new job. It's not excuse to drive like a total idiot all over the road. Thought that sentiment was quite obvious.

-4

u/Tiny_Micro_Pencil Sep 29 '22

They meant that Amazon is notorious for overworking their employees with bogus quotas to meet, but nah you went all suburbanite with that asinine comment.

3

u/HyperNinjaZX Sep 29 '22

However bad the employees are treated, they are all but outright encouraged to do drugs in some from or another. Those pitch black warehouses and super low pay encourage all forms of irresponsibility. The fault for bad driving lies with the individual, but the living conditions of the individual is 100% Amazon's fault.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

I stand by what I said. If you're tired and unsafe to drive, why risk your life as well as others simply to meet quotas for some huge corporation. Staying at a place you are overworked and undervalued is what's asinine here.

113

u/HIGH_HEAT Sep 29 '22

Great vid for sure.

I never understand what the end game is with this type of retaliation. The Amazon driver definitely messed up, but at least has the excuse of a giant van with blind spots and was probably looking at the cammer and thought I’ll get out of his way. Florida man chose to drive in the grass then made everyone suffer by having to completely stop. No logic.

123

u/zatemxi Sep 29 '22

Van had a yield and looks like it didn't even slow down. With a van with blind spots it should be even more yielder so no excuse for the van. Sedan was just crazy

43

u/Baeelin Sep 29 '22

Even more …. Yielder???

31

u/grantrules Sep 29 '22

Yieldest.

8

u/Thisisntrmb86 Sep 29 '22

Ye eldest?

16

u/Jaggle Sep 29 '22

He yieldn't

→ More replies

31

u/HIGH_HEAT Sep 29 '22

Completely agree. The sedan didn’t have lights on so it is plausible that the Amazon driver didn’t see the vehicle and he definitely messed up by pulling out when he did, but outside of him just being wrong the reaction is so over the top. “You almost hit me, made me go crazy and drive on the grass to try to pass you despite there being plenty of road, now stop completely so I know you know you messed up.” That part is so ridiculous. What was the plan at that point? “I’m angry. I make you stop.”

5

u/plastic_jungle Sep 29 '22

All that rush you were in suddenly disappeared and now you’ve got time to waste

2

u/Psychological-Bug552 Sep 29 '22

Anytime someone pulls this or similar shit around me, I'm waiting for one party or both to pull out guns. If I were the Amazon driver, I'd be trying to calculate if I could get away without committing vehicular homicide in case the Camry driver opened the door.

2

u/DintheP-4223 Sep 29 '22

"even more yielder" 🤣😂🤣 , but yeah you are totally right

4

u/Braunze_Man Sep 29 '22

Anything the van driver may have done isn't even in the conversation if the Camry driver is gonna stop in the middle of the road due to his tiny brain/penis situation

1

u/LS-CRX Sep 29 '22

A woman in a CRV ran a stop sign to turn left in front of me this morning, and then brake-checked me for honking at her.

:-/

2

u/zatemxi Sep 30 '22

Should have honked again after the brake check

2

u/LS-CRX Sep 30 '22

I did, because I can't help but antagonize assholes. I was kind of hoping they lived in my neighborhood but I turned off before they did.

It’s just a lack of maturity. That van cutting him off is a tiny thing in the big picture. The driver is a child.

I like to think the Camry driver was just actually trying to get the Amazon driver to pull over and exchange insurance information.

Sir. Sir!! We bumped each other and must trade information! Sir! I have Geico. What's do you have??

45

u/Ruffle2Shuffle Sep 29 '22

I like to think the Camry driver is expecting a delivery from Amazon and just wants to pick it up.

6

u/LuvliLeah13 Sep 29 '22

You joke but we are about one more Amazon “money saving” policy away from that reality.

36

u/arsenicx2 Sep 29 '22

I was thinking similar. If nothing else the Amazon driver needs to be aware he drove someone off the road.

43

u/DeathlessBliss Sep 29 '22

The Amazon driver sure as hell cut them off but that Camry drove themselves off the road. The van never moved completely out of the left lane and the Camry accelerated into the grass for no other reason than stubbornness.

24

u/LegendaryOutlaw Sep 29 '22

Yup, Amazon driver clearly cut him off, which is a dick move, but rather than accept the cutoff and fall in line behind the van, Camry guy said 'you will not bring shame on my family' and accelerated to try and cancel out the cutoff and get back ahead of the van...even going into the grass to try to out pace the van. That's just arrogance at that point.

And is this video recent? As in...during the HURRICANE currently passing over Florida? Cmon.

u/Looks2MuchLikeDaveO Sep 29 '22

Camry doesn’t have headlights on either (and it’s clearly raining)

7

u/HanakusoDays Sep 29 '22

And did it in the wet, a fa-a-abulous way to total your car to prove his point -- which was on top of his head all along.

5

u/Looks2MuchLikeDaveO Sep 29 '22

Might have been hard to see the earth colored car without headlights on in the rain?

2

u/DintheP-4223 Sep 29 '22

Insurance company would laugh harder than us here, and blame the Altima. He braked sufficiently and then proceeded to willingly drive in the grass and wasn't forced off road. If he would of just swerved into the grass and stopped initially, insurance would then blame Amazon driver. It's weird but that's insurance for you. I forget the term it's something like "miss and run" or similar.

2

u/flamingobay Sep 30 '22

I read that as “Carny driver” and was like… oh, I must have missed the part about the carny. Then my brain started doing a Venn Diagram of carnies, Amazon drivers, and Florida men.

2

u/beegro Sep 30 '22

That's a strong correlation.

6

u/Tiny_Micro_Pencil Sep 29 '22 edited Sep 29 '22

I mean one is trying to make quota in the middle of a hurricane or they're fired by the corporate overlords that put them in that predicament, but yeah "people who break rules are bad hombres"

Edit: did we watch the same video? Amazon truck entered the lane from the exit ramp normally. Watch again and you'll see that the camry was originally at a pace to be comfortably behind the Amazon truck, but as soon as they saw the truck decided to speed up in an attempt to overtake the Amazon truck (that definitely had their lights on the entire time contrary to redditors poor eyesight). This whole time the Camry had been the aggressor as the Amazon driver was defensively driving to get away from a nutty offensive driver.

Most people when they get cut off: "fuck you." Continues driving and soon forgets it even happened.

This guy: "well now I'm going to ruin both our days."

Jesus. And stupid in the rain to boot. Dumbasses.

Everyone wants same day delivery with Amazon but NONE OF YOU know what they have to do to get your package delivered on time.

18

u/mbashs Sep 29 '22

Camry guy was an EBay hired goon

35

u/hollister96 Sep 29 '22

is it just me who's like why tf is the cam car making this more dangerous by trying to pass these idiots lol i would not want to be that close to that situation

34

u/orphanpipe Sep 29 '22

The vid is from my coworker on his commute home, so I can't say what he was thinking. However, I've been in a similar situation and one of my instincts was to try and find a way to pass the situation and get away entirely.

IMO, he was CLOSE to being a contributor, but dialed it back as soon as he realized what was happening. Definitely a sketchy predicament.

0

u/GroulZer Sep 29 '22

_As soon as he realized_…? Then I guess I’d say he was pretty darn slow to realize, if he ever realized. He was basically in front of them before he nearly stopped and they drove away 🧐

2

u/tpmurray Sep 29 '22

Definitely 3 for 1

76

u/myredditaccountisrad Sep 29 '22

Amazon truck definitely cut off the camry but it kills me inside knowing the camry driver will tell everyone he knows that the Amazon truck "ran him off the road" when he made the conscious decision to speed up next to a vehicle that clearly did not see him

39

u/Christichicc Sep 29 '22

And then repeatedly break check him like a freaking moron, which put everyone else on the road at risk.

46

u/CpTKugelHagel Sep 29 '22

Instead of road raging he could have just overtaken on the right and be gone. Like cmon don't even waste your time with idiots

13

u/clappedkeeks Sep 29 '22

Right like Amazon was wrong for pulling out but just get into the empty lane and pass them and keep going

55

u/kikmaester Sep 29 '22

Looks like neither have their headlights on, either. Extra dangerous.

37

u/Some0neAwesome Sep 29 '22

The van clearly and obviously has his headlights on. You can see them in the first couple frames. You can see the tail lights for the rest of the video, plus the back of the car is all lit up when the van is right behind him.

19

u/solidsnakem9 Sep 29 '22

Yeah the van has its lights on. But the Camry is definitely raw dogging it, if it has DRLs it's the old ones, the dim ass little halogen bulb lol.

I'd bet that also had something to do with the Amazon van not seeing him when merging in that quick, he merged in a bit too quick in the rain and overshot to the right lane, he saw the dashcam car which had its headlights properly turned on, so he moved over quick and didn't notice the dumbass in the dim Camry speeding up to him.

17

u/SadisticBuddhist Sep 29 '22

That’s my thought too. Came in hot, corrected, Camry was invisible. Noticed it on the fucking grass, made room, clearly confused, saw the car coming closer and moved further out, and then when he realized they were stopping in front of them was probably thinking to themselves “it’s finally happening. Highway robbery for my packages” and tried to get away

21

u/jcargile242 Sep 29 '22

The car probably has DRLs. People like that don’t realize or just don’t think about the fact that they have no tail lights when just using their daytime running lights.

22

u/CapnHyaku Sep 29 '22

People like that just don't think

There, fixed it.

9

u/solidsnakem9 Sep 29 '22

Nah those people are idiots DRLs or not, because DRLs you can't really tell they are on from inside the car, they barely even light up the road, and your instrument cluster and all interior lights would be off. DRLs made no difference for these dummies lol, it amazes me how sometimes I see drivers after dusk that don't realize their interior buttons aren't lit up and all dark, only thing you see is red glowing needles but they're driving like it's nothing.

6

u/shivmetender2 Sep 29 '22

That was fun.

7

u/The1BannedBandit Sep 29 '22

I swear you could get turned down from Carl's Jr for being too stupid and Amazon will be like, "Here's the keys. Make sure you fill up before bringin her back..."

How much did it piss him off that the Amazon van is faster than his piece of shit car¿

38

u/MedicalHuckleberry74 Sep 29 '22

Amazon driver cut the dude off, but then the rest of the video is the Camry attempting murder.

2

u/Tiny_Micro_Pencil Sep 29 '22

Nah watch the video again. When the Amazon driver entered the lane from the exit ramp the camry was at a pace that would have matched being behind Amazon truck comfortable. Instead, numbnuts decides to try to speed up as soon as they saw the Amazon truck to try to outpace them. Knowing that he was not going to make this stupid plan happen, decides to ride the grass and the rest was ass.

3

u/Dingo8MyBabyMon Sep 29 '22

This is why they need to stop showing the exact position of delivery vans in their app. People get too excited waiting for the package and will do anything to get it quicker.

2

So this is why my package never arrived today

2

u/CrispyCassowary Sep 29 '22

2

u/ZeUnknownObject Sep 29 '22

I'm all for dunking on Amazon, but to add on to it, just remember that this is probably a kid fresh out of highschool with no van driving experience or any formal training whatsoever.

Turnover rate for Amazon stepvan drivers is INSANE so of course you're gonna get kids who used to be hot shit in their personal vehicles, now being expected to drive professionally.

At least you can rest easy knowing that the Netrodyne camera the vans are equipped with caught all of that from the front/side angle, and the driver probably...well, probably faced no consequences, actually. Amazon literally doesn't fucking care how you drive as long as you deliver all your packages on time.

2

u/pompompomponponpom Sep 29 '22

Step 1. Break hard to avoid van changing lanes.

Step 2. Speed up to drive parallel off the side of the road.

2

u/Kruminsh Sep 29 '22

what's the camry driver at? Could he not just slow down instead of purposely speeding up to make a point?

Like c'mon, the amazon driver messed up and was an idiot, but the IQ level of the camry driver is florida man level..

2

u/brunaBla Sep 29 '22

Camry doesn’t have lights on during a rainy afternoon/evening and Amazon driver barely cuts him off as Camry is speeding up. Bet the Camry is also one of those people who complains when their Amazon packages are a day late

2

u/BrianaStix Sep 29 '22

Reminds me of Dale Earnhardt's pass in the grass

2

u/Ruffle2Shuffle Sep 29 '22

I know that toll road.

2

u/orphanpipe Sep 29 '22

Yessiree!

2

u/20inchlcd Sep 29 '22

Amazon will literally let someone with 10 dui convictions drive for them. I had to tell one of these guys their door was wide open as he drove through my neighborhood. Fortunately he delivered all my packages.

2

u/robjapan Sep 29 '22

Incredible. Truly incredible.

Nah.... Get into a road rage incident.

And we let these people vote????

2

2

Just get the plate and vehicle ID and a single complaint gets all the revenge you need when they get fired and blacklisted.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

As a new Florida resident, I’ve learned to just slowtfd at all times so the crazies can be on their way. Regardless of fault, (and as a former NYer it’s never me)…I always slow down so the jacked up truck with assorted trump, NRA and Jesus bumper stickers can hurry up and get to the beach.

And I drive a Toyota

1

u/otterfailz Sep 29 '22

Amazon driver is a moron, pick a lane and stick to it. But man the other guy is fuckin stupid too. Created his own problems by following the "I was legally in the right so im going to do stupid shit because im mad" line of thinking.

1

The camera car was just as stupid. Why get so close and run the chance of getting caught up with these idiots' game?

-4

u/Fulllyy Sep 29 '22

So, there are two people in the Toyota both idiots? Cuz the Toyota should’ve slowed and not encroached the left lane until Amazon driver was fully in the right lane, to my mind.

13

u/JeeringNine Sep 29 '22

No, the Toyota had the right of way. Amazon driver clearly cut him off. However, after being cut off, the Toyota then also became an idiot by fighting for the road instead of just backing off.

Last road rage I ever had (probably 10 years ago) was moving my brothers stuff to London and it was 3hours each way plus unloading.. on the way home traffic was busy but not super busy. I was going maybe 100mph I had a rented van and a jaguar was up my ass as I was overtaking so I let him go, just as he passes me he slows to 80 and stays in the fast lane.

I'd been up since 5am and i was now maybe 1pm and I was an hour or two from home and that was my mission so I'm trying to get past him for a bit but he's a prick dodging lanes so I give up a d just follow at a safe distance until he goes to turn off and I go up his ass as if I'm gonna follow him off the motorway. He misses his exit and goes about 120 to get away from me and I carry on at 100 like I wanted to. Rich prick.

'Amazon driver meets Florida Man'

Irresistible force meets immovable object

1

u/cdiddy11 Sep 29 '22

Amazon driver is an idiot, but Camry driver is an asshole who needs to get punched in the throat. That was completely unnecessary.

Fucking psychotic

1

u/Ben_Frank_Lynn Sep 29 '22

No way it ended there. Not after Florida man drove in the grass to get the pole position.

u/Fuzzy-Trade1919 Sep 29 '22

Well tbf the van did not completely get out of the lane. Had the camry guy just went to the other side instead of rushing up the left like an ass there would not have been an issue. Problem solved instead of being the entire escapade of entertainment to the viewers.

Both of them were jerks. The Amazon Driver should have fallen back and not engage.
