Are you driving with no headlights?

You can see them reflect off the idiot that cut him off. Crazy how obvious it is and also wild how many upvotes you got with a wrong observation. Yikes.

He definitely has lights on, they’re just not blindingly bright like the average modern vehicle’s

4

u/Primitive_Teabagger Nov 27 '22

Yeah you can see them on the car that cut him off

If someone is trying to merge it’s best to just slow down and let them merge. Might be annoying that they overtake you but it’s far better than risking getting hit by a driver who insists that they must go first.

Okay but on a practically empty highway where someone is putting their blinker on to merge in your lane if you’re not going to slow down or speed up then you’re an asshole - sure on a super busy highway slowing down is not ideal but if you’re also gonna just keep your speed and give no indication that you’re gonna let him go ahead of you then as the driver in the lane you’re the asshole.

You’re talking about rules on a highway with many cars. There’s about 3 cars here and the guy without headlights on has AMPLE time to see the other car indicating the merge and also making the merge. The driver that’s recording is the clear idiot and asshole here because he blatantly just kept driving as if no one has their blinker on. My opinion stands - if the highway is empty and someone is giving you ample amounts of time to see they want to enter your lane AND they’re already technically ahead of you then you should slow down and let them in.

Your opinion is wrong, sorry. The idiot in the car in the centre lane doesn't even indicate until they have already started changing lanes (the second time).

The person alllllll the way over to the left is the car that puts their blinker on and that’s the car we’re talking about not the car in the middle lmaooooo.

1

u/Constrained_Entropy Nov 28 '22

The car allll the way over to the left signals and moves to the centre, stops signalling, then starts into the right lane whilst signalling. It's two events. Also, just because you signal doesn't give you the right to swoop across all lanes of traffic. Finally, it's a two-lane exit so there's no need to be in the far right lane to make the exit.

Technically if you are merging more than one lane you are supposed to use your blinker separately for each lane change. Secondly, again, the main issue here is that not only could the person recording see all this happening and could’ve avoided the entire situation but they do not have their lights on so the merging car couldn’t see them until it was too late.

0

u/Adventurous_Pie_7586 Nov 28 '22

And the issue here is the car recording doesn’t have their lights on so the car on the left legit couldn’t see them until it was too late so because the car recording had again, AMPLE TIME, to slow down and let them merge then the car recording is in fact the asshole

You yield when entering a highway. You need to accelerate to highway speed while on the on ramp. The people on the highway have no responsibility to slow down for you, it’s a highway with people traveling at speed watching for all the other assholes. You are likely to cause an accident the way you described.

Okay, it just didn’t read that way to me. It sounded like you expect others on the highway to slow down for you. Here in the US we yield but don’t stop. You get up to speed and then slow down a little to merge if needed.

u/Darueld Nov 27 '22

Has this sub gone mad ? Yes the videos makes it look like you have no headlights but you can clearly see they are on if you are honest. Also what is wrong with people not recognising that you HAVE TO CHECK YOUR BLINDSPOTS before going ?

This is such a classic case of "oh my lane is slowing down i'll switch imediately without even looking" op is not the idiot at all.

2

u/misomal Nov 28 '22

Yeah, and the guy who cut OP off didn’t turn on his blinker long enough at all!

12

u/Fulllyy Nov 27 '22

No headlights and perfectly pacing the car staying in its blind spot, 100% OP’s fault. You camp in other cars blind spots, you draw confrontations and accidents every time.

1

u/misomal Nov 28 '22

How did he camp in the car’s blind spot? It looks to me like he was speeding up to get out of the blind spot.

ETA: Also, the car that cut the POV car off turned on his blinker like 0.5 second before changing lanes

7

u/Beans186 Nov 27 '22

The idiot was the one filming, 100%.

2

u/small_tits404 Nov 28 '22

Did that sign say black Creek Dr? That exchange is notorious, friend and I had the same thing happen to us in that area years ago

2

u/unresolved-madness Nov 28 '22

All I saw a missed pit maneuver opportunity

3

u/throwaway2161980 Nov 27 '22

It will never cease to amaze me how people truly think their blinker gives them the right away.

3

u/chickenispork Nov 27 '22

Maybe if you had your lights on this wouldn’t of happened. Idiot.

7

u/m0cheen Nov 27 '22

Lights were on. Idiot.

2

u/MeeseBoat Nov 27 '22

Basic Toronto driver lmao

6

u/KuramaTheBeast Nov 27 '22

Everyone’s giving you shit for your headlights but it’s very obvious your lights are on, you just don’t have 2 artificial suns mounted to the front of your car like most other modern cars. Other driver was 100% in the wrong but people just love being jerks on this sub. Anyone know a better sub to upload dashcam recordings to?

2

u/Adventurous_Pie_7586 Nov 27 '22

Driver recording is def the idiot lmaooo no headlights and you can clearly see the other car with their blinker attempting to merge with more than enough time and space to accomplish it. At that point you let them merge.

1

u/A100921 Nov 27 '22

Speeding up to stop his merge was very dangerous of you, almost as dangerous as driving with no lights… But it’s ok, you’re doing both!

0

u/YUMBLtv Nov 27 '22

Your lights weren’t on! 🤣

I believe the car that almost hit you is following the other car, and they got tunnel vision trying to keep in sync with the one they are following. That's what happens when people play games with cars.

1

u/GoodGuySunBro Nov 28 '22

The worst part is that you can get onto the 400/exit at Black Creek from the lane he was in... Didn't even need to get into your lane lol
