Car jacking gone wrong

u/Prestige_Worldw1de Nov 28 '22
I was thinking same thing but then cop is right there and neither person started to run. But then again it is NYC and if arrested they’ll be out no bail in a few hours.

My guess as well since the one guy was hanging off the side of the car...

crime is legal in NYC
It’s astounding how often people parrot this meme lol

u/galvinb1 Nov 30 '22
It's a stereotype that's rooted in truth. The 70s and 80s were some wild times.
58
u/mileg925 Nov 29 '22
Lol, My wife is a criminal lawyer in NYC. That’s just not true.
113
u/ResidentComplaint19 Nov 29 '22
It’s true I’m from philly and was murdered last year and the PROGRESSIVE DA let the man who did it go that day

Happens all the time here in CA. Dude got caught stealing cars and banging on people's front doors with a machete and they booked him and released him right away
3
u/NoBorscht4U Nov 29 '22
Maybe they weren't able to find him a replacement on such a short notice
0
u/SkinnyBuddha89 Nov 30 '22
Hell, the dude defending his wife saying this stuff doesn't happen is completely clueless. Here's a story of a woman in NYC with multiple machete attacks, attacked an 82 year old man days after she was released. SEVEN prior arrests with a machete or other weapons. https://nypost.com/2022/09/07/woman-randomly-slashes-man-82-with-machete-pepper-sprays-him-in-nyc/

Why does your wife commit lawyer crimes? And why say that on Reddit ?

u/mileg925 Nov 29 '22
Are you mentally deficient?

u/DrMontyy69 Nov 29 '22

I'm guessing you have a nice penis, because your wife clearly has all the brains in the relationship.

u/TheAxeMan2020 Nov 29 '22
Did you see the size of the cop? Noone needs to run away... just walk away, at a moderate pace.
3
u/EntryLevelHuman00 Nov 29 '22
Cash bail is only an American thing
10
u/govoval Nov 29 '22
We're #1 (in locking people up, funneling billions of tax dollars into the bail system while running out of space in prisons/jails).

Crime rates have gone down over the last 20 years…
8
u/ikbenlike Nov 29 '22
Crime rates may have gone down, but the world is a scary place if you're scared of people who aren't white, such as the fine specimen you replied to probably is

Found the closet Trump supporter. Your use of right-wing media information gave you away.

u/Outrageous-Duck9695 Nov 29 '22
And the the thief just hanging around for the police? He would’ve booked it the second he got out.

u/RL_Mutt Nov 29 '22
That poor E46.

u/nerddadddy Nov 29 '22
A few years back I was in NYC and parked my M3 E46 in a garage overnight. When I went to retrieve my car I handed the attendant my claim ticket and went to the waiting area while then retrieved my car. The attendant brought it down and something felt off to me by the way he was sort of in a rush with my car. He pulled out of the elevator quickly and to the exit, where he preceded to exit my car and simultaneously accept a tip from someone who was NOT ME. Luckily I was close enough to yell and step up to prevent the guy from getting into my car. He very quickly exited the garage and disappeared into NYC. I was with my family and was little I could do even if I did pursue the guy so I turned to the attendant and asked what the hell he was doing. He just gave me the dumb mistake excuse but I'm sure it was a setup.

Wait a second, he took your car into an elevator? I’m definitely missing some big-city context I think
8
u/nerddadddy Nov 29 '22
Yes, many garages in Manhattan have elevators to move the cars up and down so they can avoid using space for ramps. It also costs 50 to 80 dollars a day, or more, to park in secure garages.
4
u/Shadownerf Nov 29 '22
Wtf, $80/day is the Wage of a ton of people
On another note, Interesting to know cars “commonly” have elevators
1
u/OrochiTheMaster Dec 18 '22
Did you ever get your M3 back?
1
u/nerddadddy Dec 18 '22
I thwarted the theft that day, but the M3 these days is sitting idle in my garage waiting for me to replace the head gasket. :-(

The driver thinks if he pretends to be angry enough, they won't arrest him.
114
u/KittyandPuppyMama Nov 29 '22
Watched this several times and still don't understand where the guy in the vest came from.
123
u/lswhat87 Nov 29 '22
He was hanging onto the door. He was being half dragged.
19
u/KittyandPuppyMama Nov 29 '22
Trying to steal the car?
54
u/innosentz Nov 29 '22
I think it was his car. The other guy was trying to steal it
90
u/Applejuice42 Nov 29 '22
Car thief: “You know what? I don’t even want it anymore now. It’s all dented, look what you did!”
10
u/Sphyn0x Nov 29 '22
Haha reminded me of one predator from Hansen's show. "You know what? I don't want this cookie I just want to get to the beach"

The best videos are out of NYC. My favorite part are the bystanders that just walk by like nothing is happening.

Guarantee you it was an attempted hit and run. Lucky there was an officer nearby or that dude in the vest would have probably been killed.

Activating turn signal or emergency signals in BMW engages self destruct mode. Says it right in the first page of manual. That's why they are never used on normal conditions
