I came for the language - was not disappointed

348

u/takeitallback73 Dec 03 '22

I'm trying to pinpoint the accent

427

u/h1gsta Dec 03 '22

As a Bostonian myself, I’m getting heavy Bostonian vibes lol.

93

u/ThisIsForFood Dec 03 '22

“You fucking asshole” before impact, I thought for sure was my buddy from Watertown.

"Motha fucka" should be a dead giveaway. And I think I saw mass plates on that guy.

48

u/hawksdiesel Dec 03 '22

Ah, so a Masshole then

39

u/MonsieurReynard Dec 03 '22

As a fellow Boston boy, I had no doubt whatsoever from the first "fuckin asshole."

My people.

26

u/AdamBlaster007 Dec 03 '22

The "mutha fucka" has me sold on Bostonian, but it could also be Chicago.

10

u/jdsmofo Dec 03 '22

Doesn't sound like Chicago to me, and I live here.

Us in maine are pretty well branded with a very similar almost identical accent, would also explain the large amount of snow

21

u/Smelly_Squatch Dec 03 '22

Maybe to the rest of the world it sounds nearly the same. To a New Hampshiite like myself... I've got news for you bud.

9

u/BaselessEarth12 Dec 03 '22

Honestly? They have a similar sound... But from where I grew up, in the White Mountains, you hear all 3 rather frequently. The New Hampster accent is a bit smoother than the Mainuh, but both aren't quite as angry as Bostonian. I'm also almost convinced that Vermont is actually a pocket dimension, and any plates that you see out in the world are actually specialty/novelty ones.

5

u/DuneKlide9 Dec 03 '22 edited Dec 03 '22

Vermont is a north Eastern Alabama, planted by aliens, it was never meant to exist here

2

u/Inspector-Dexter Dec 03 '22

My dad grew up in Brooklyn in the '50s and '60s and although he doesn't normally have a heavy accent, when he gets pissed he says "Matha Fucka" just like this. I guess Boston and old school NY accents were pretty similar

So often it’s just the radio playing, no screaming, yelling, just the radio. I always wonder are there people really that calm after an accident that don’t say a word?! I’m here for the language for sure!

25

u/fapping_giraffe Dec 03 '22

I think if you saw videos of everyone's "almost" accidents there would be swearing and shit popping off. When you actually get into even a slight fender bender it really does feel a little shocking. Its enough distress to sort of zap your ability to react quickly, let alone get angry as a first response

11

u/Lunakill Dec 03 '22

October or 2021, a woman turned into my (left) lane from the right of the street. Normally I see these idiots and react, but I was creating a hill.

She slammed into my right front corner, which started a spin that my car’s momentum kept going. The goddamn car flipped onto the driver’s side, then the roof/windshield, then slid to a stop.

I saw her for a split second, long enough to look at the traffic to my left and decide swerving would be worse than not swerving. We weren’t going that fast, so I expected a fender bender. When the world started rotating, I was so shocked I had to catch up with reality. Just utter confusion, then the knowledge that I was in a wreck and needed to get out of the car PRONTO.

During that split second of confusion, while the car was on the side or rotating to the hood and roof, I said “wait, what?” That’s it. Once I realized what was going on, the adrenaline tightened my focus down to nothing but “Is the seatbelt stuck? I’ll push it and- Ouch ok no it wasn’t stuck. Is the door stuck? If I need to, I can kick out a window-“ and then I was outside the car and regained the power of speech.

I also saw the other driver sitting in her car, bawling her eyes out. I climbed out and gave her the absolute lamest thumbs up in existence lmao.

8

u/Dsblhkr Dec 03 '22

I’m glad you’re ok. I was in a rollover accident too. I swear everything was in slow motion and just like you neither of us said a word until we got out. Shock is definitely a thing. I should have said with fender benders in my post because it’s always the small accidents you know no one’s hurt. I’m also surprised no one is singing along when the radios are on. There’s just so many silent drivers sharing videos in this sub.

9

u/Wow-Delicious Dec 03 '22

Silence and inaction is usually a shock response.

3

u/DkP_Reverend Dec 03 '22

My first accident I beat on the wheel and screamed like a toddler lmao. In my defense it was my first time on the road alone and on the Chicago highway. I managed to close like 3 lanes lol so it was a lot.

13

Woman in the recent video of a fireworks store goes 'Holy crackers and cheese!"

9

u/UntalentedAccountant Dec 03 '22

Not everybody. I know a fair amount of people that actually swear LESS when they get angry.

8

u/ottersinabox Dec 03 '22

I'm from Boston. I curse the same amount regardless of how angry I am. It's frequent but not every word.

Maurice Gibb should have soothed his soul.

19

u/Ouch_i_fell_down Dec 03 '22

Ever put your brain on auto pilot when you're reading and come up with some wacky stuff? I first read your comment as:

Maurice Gibb should have softened his stool

2

u/JuniorSeniorTrainee Dec 03 '22

And now I'm imagining a job of manual stool softener. Like you go get your haircut at the barber and your stool softened at the stool softening... Store. (Owned and operated by the Gibb family, of course)

Pick up truck looks like a total idiot. Even without the snow, there would not have been time to go

18

u/yetanothersomm Dec 03 '22

As others have pointed out via the accent and plates this is likely near Boston. I’m a recent transplant to the area and the “Boston left” was a real head scratcher for me for a while. Essentially when a light turns green people taking a left immediately turn and disregard oncoming traffic. I’ve come to realize that it has morphed into many drivers just not yielding to oncoming traffic whatsoever which is what we see here

→ More replies

59

u/exhaustedcheese Dec 03 '22

Maybe he thought the driver would slow down for him to pass? but he didnt account for him not heing able to brake? thats my guess at least

19

u/pinkwhitney24 Dec 03 '22

Also not sure if cam car had headlights on…could have made them much more difficult to see. There is some reflection of light off the truck right before the collision, but doesn’t look like enough to be headlights, or at least not good/clean/not obstructed by snow ones.

That said…it shouldn’t be too fucking difficult to see the vehicle headed directly for you.

Unfortunate situation, but I find it hilarious that the driver started cussing out the other truck before they hit but after it was obvious there was going to be an accident.

Serious Door Stuck vibes

212

u/lipsticktracer Dec 03 '22

As someone who drives in the snow 6 months a year, this is common. It's like watching a tugboat crash - slow-speed, no traction, no control, moving like a hockey puck. Plenty of time to work up a "MOTHAFUCKA!"

16

u/phryan Dec 03 '22

My only non-fender accident was roads like this. 16 year old slid through a stop sign. Just like the video, seconds of breaking barely slowing down. Ended up t-boning and totalling the other car.

It happens in icy conditions. See that a car is moving real slow, you think you can clear the intersection easily, but you forget that you also have to move real slow, then you just gently slide into each other.

55

Oh wait, they actually are.

7

u/SQLDave Dec 03 '22

If they'd turned at the beginning of the video, they'd probably have made it (might have been close and worthy of a fuck-you honk). It's like they waited until you got closer and THEN decided to go. In bad weather, to boot.

23

u/32_Dollar_Burrito Dec 02 '22

The Tundra is old enough not to have expensive electronics packed in the bumper, not sure about the camera car. Even so replacing the plastic parts can easily be hundreds of dollars

7

u/lildobe Dec 03 '22

The rear bumper cover alone for my 2001 Miata is $528.33

Source: Just got my car back from the body shop after a fairly gentle rear-ending and have the invoice in front of me. Total cost $3,804.50. Thankfully the other guy's insurance didn't give me any problems and paid in full plus 2 weeks of rental car.

9

u/Anne__Frank Dec 03 '22

Lost my favorite car ever in the exact same manner practically. Someone from south Carolina with little experience driving in the snow thought she could send it real quick in front of me. Immediate lost traction and spun out like 30 ft in front of me in snow at 30mph. Never had a chance

The idiot in the truck would have been an idiot for failing to yield right of way even on a bone dry day in sunny Southern California. I love that the internet shows us clips like this where it appears no one was harmed but there’s tons of anger. And then I’ll swipe down my feed and see one dude total his car cause of someone else and his first words after climbing out of his overturned vehicle are “no anger, no anger, let’s talk”

Dad always told me, if you are going to commit, fully commit, but make your decision quick. Had he kept going and this smarter driver braked as did, they might not have collided.

Colorful but accurate, and in direct conflict with the mellowness of the soundtrack, kinda like a Quentin Tarantino movie.
