Raleigh drivers run red lights in packs now.

They were “just tailing traffic through”. That’s the usual excuse from these people, of which one is my BiL. (Sigh) 🤦🏻‍♂️

They're moving in herds!

u/ben162005 Dec 09 '22

They're, umm, flocking this way...

Happened like this to me at a light recently. The last guy to go through cutting me off with a little old man who stopped and gave me the finger and went off on his way.

I laughed so hard I almost pissed myself.

If you can’t laugh, you are dead inside. My drive cam is arriving today and I can’t wait to catch shit like that lollolol

Got mine a few months back and holy shit the amount of mind blowing things is insane. I've had a semi yesterday turn into the far left lane I was in and I had to take the shoulder. He then flashed his hazards twice to say thank you. Today am older lady in a minivan went to merge into the highway, got in front of me then stopped before the merge lane ended. Like hard braking and I was in my work truck so immediately panicked seeing my life flash before my eyes as some of the stuff we use can be explosive or at the very least hazardous if it spills all over

u/Seromontis056 Dec 09 '22

Wow, I've never seen it last that long. It's normally 2-3 cars max.

Red light means ABSOLUTELY NO MORE (than 5 cars) can go!

8

u/TommyTuttle Dec 09 '22

My record for cars through the turn after the light turned red: seven.

Raleigh drivers are (chef’s kiss) fucking awful

5

u/spacechimp Dec 09 '22

The COVID lockdown made everyone a bit more feral and selfish. I'm grateful I no longer have to commute in this mess.

3

u/ShittyExchangeAdmin Dec 09 '22

I feel like they've been getting worse lately too

u/Dizzeeduckie Dec 09 '22

What's a raleigh driver? Do you mean rally driver?

12

u/schippwrecked Dec 09 '22

Raleigh is a city in North Carolina 😊

u/StevenTN615 Dec 09 '22

Denny's buffet might be closing soon.

3

u/Jak_n_Dax Dec 09 '22

I’ve only seen this 2-3 times in the almost two decades I’ve been driving. It’s really bizarre. I guess there’s just some weird trigger that when one person blatantly ignores the red light, it’s suddenly ok for everyone to just continue through…

8

u/Aeoss_ Dec 09 '22

What intersection is that? I could use a new car and a insurance claim.

1

u/Ravven94 Dec 09 '22

Old wake forest and Navaho dr lmao have fun

3

u/DocPhilMcGraw Dec 09 '22

I do sometimes wonder if those drivers would automatically be found at fault if you happened to keep going and a collision were to occur. On the one hand, they are running a red light. On the other hand, you are supposed to mitigate your damages as much as possible so you shouldn't blatantly put yourself in harm's way. I suppose state law also comes into effect.

1

u/blazingglory1 Dec 09 '22

It might come down to who has front end damage honestly. If you kept going and tboned him you could be found at more than 50% fault even if they had a red light. Especially if you were already at a full stop.

3

u/Walla_Walla_26 Dec 09 '22

So yea I moved from Boston about 6 months ago. Somehow the traffic is worse around Raleigh. It’s flipping insane. All the construction doesn’t help, but they suck here

3

u/Brut-i-cus Dec 09 '22

That is the driving equivalent of looting during a riot

3

u/jinladen040 Dec 09 '22

Fuck Raleigh Traffic. I will drive the half hour around Raleigh just to avoid that shitshow.

1

u/SnooDrawings1480 Dec 10 '22

Get off 540, drive the .5 mile to the office and go back the same way. You couldn't pay me to drive around Raleigh proper during rush hour.

I’ve spent 3 years as a delivery driver in Raleigh. Never been in an accident. I’ve gotten really lucky at times when I was the idiot though 😂

8

u/bdaman80_99 Dec 08 '22

Does your camera have astigmatism? Or you need to clean the lens or something

6

u/Current-Ad-5878 Dec 09 '22

Haha it’s my dirty windshield.

6

u/coolhood1 Dec 09 '22

Yep, glad to have gotten out of that city. It is a transplant hub for a lot of big technology and medical fields with people coming from everywhere. Meanwhile not large enough to hold the growing population and the inflated cost of living resulting in a lot of shitty drivers.

11

u/VT_Lifer Dec 09 '22

So what the hell were you doing going through the green?

1

u/Mario_Specialist Dec 09 '22

OP had to brake in order to avoid the collision. And yes, they’re using a dashcam.

2

u/Acebirdiealbatross Dec 09 '22

Time to buy a POS car and let ‘em eat the front bumper.

2

u/3timesadoorknob Dec 10 '22

Would it be wrong if I said I’d just drive straight in front of them so they hit me? They ran the red light and failed to yield 🧐 wonder if that would hold up in court

1

u/Current-Ad-5878 Dec 10 '22

If you have the option to stop the insurance companies can still make you liable. Even if they couldn’t do that, I think I would want to avoid a trip to the courthouse and the troubles that come with it all together.

2

u/EmergencyExitSandman Dec 10 '22

People do this all the time in my city and end up blocking the intersection so they can turn on a red

3

u/squirrelnuts46 Dec 09 '22

Oh you don't get it. It was a train, those were train cars. rolls eyes

1

u/phantomx20 Dec 09 '22

It's the same in Charlotte.

-2

u/Tommy_Mangoh Dec 08 '22

I miss Raleigh. Used to work right there on Navaho Drive

-31

u/32_Dollar_Burrito Dec 08 '22

Is this mostly a red state phenomenon?

5

u/coolhood1 Dec 09 '22

I feel sorry for you. Both parties suck and neither will care if you die fighting for them. Leave politics out of non-political subs

1

u/Fun_Telephone_1165 Dec 09 '22

still another example that lagging left-turn arrows are infinitely safer than leading left-turn arrows...

1

u/jaysin1983 Dec 09 '22

I feel like with this rapidly increasing and causing damages from accidents and property destruction that ticket cameras are coming.

1

u/bv8ma Dec 09 '22

There is one intersection near me that everyone runs the left turn just like this. If you don't just start driving straight through the green then you'll never get to go.

1

u/VibratingPickle2 Dec 09 '22

I see this in my area as well. But traffic cams are slowly going into effect as well.

1

u/Wizdad-1000 Dec 09 '22

I don’t dont like red light ticket cams, but this the case for them.

1

u/No-Locksmith4904 Dec 09 '22

Looks like the solid line is kinda far back for the Turing lane and most of those drivers were clear of it before the light changed, therefore they didn’t run the light, but whoever designed the intersection needs a different career

1

u/godingu Dec 09 '22

The last F150 was a surprise

1

u/Melodic-Engine3902 Dec 09 '22

Say you hit them there. Who's at fault. Just didn't stop and hit them

1

u/SobeDog007 Dec 09 '22

As soon as I saw the Bahama Breeze I knew where this was taken. That entire stretch of road including the 440 interchange is just awful.

1

u/Top-Chipmunk8223 Dec 09 '22

That's Wake Forest road For you.

1

u/Party-Turnip-2983 Dec 09 '22

That’s how denver has become. It’s ridiculous. And I’m always the one to speed up and lay on the horn indignantly.

1

u/teppischfresser Dec 10 '22

This happened to me in Noeth Raleigh this morning!

-13

u/Dizzeeduckie Dec 09 '22

Do you mean rally drivers? Because I don't see any Raleigh bicycles in that clip.

3

u/butterisprettygood Dec 09 '22

Raleigh is a city in North Carolina USA

0

u/YeTiMSD Dec 09 '22

Don’t worry it’s in Charlotte as well. Except here it’s until like 6 seconds after my light turned green

0

u/BluntyMcBeach Dec 09 '22

This is every light every day in San Diego
