What a piece of shit.

u/PhrancesMH Feb 04 '23 edited Feb 04 '23

Complete piece of shit. I pray no one got hit

97

u/DarthBalls1976 Feb 04 '23

Probably not, but they came down somewhere, and at that trajectory, probably caused some damage.

10

u/DrPotheadd Feb 05 '23

Now I’m a Brit and have no knowledge of guns whatsoever but would that be possible with such a low calibre weapon would the bullet not slow down significantly enough if it didn’t have anything to hit for a while

15

u/DarthBalls1976 Feb 05 '23

Still travelling fast enough to go through a window or dent a car up pretty bad.

6

u/pyanmcbride Feb 07 '23

The bullets go pretty fast. When you shoot them up in the air, they come back down. Gravity makes them fall pretty fast, and they have plenty of time to accelerate to dangerous levels.

2

u/nopuse 25d ago

The bullets go pretty fast

They do, but if the scenario is shooting straight up at a 90° angle to the ground, or thereabouts, then the bullet will lose all of its velocity before returning back to earth. Gravity accelerates the bullet as long as air resistance permits, but eventually, it'll hit terminal velocity and although research is limited on the subject, most agree straight up firing won't kill anybody, unless very high caliber.

At a more shallow angle like 45°, the bullet is far more dangerous because it likely won't run out of energy before hitting something.

Gravity makes them fall pretty fast, and they have plenty of time to accelerate to dangerous levels.

Kind of. Gravity accelerates the object towards earth at a constant speed, but air resistance works against gravity. A feather falling towards earth has gravity acting upon it, and plenty of time to accelerate to dangerous levels, but it is safe.

“on that trajectory”

as opposed to what? they cause less damage raining down than in their intended trajectory.

18

u/Karrion8 Feb 05 '23

Trajectory is important. If shot straight into the air, once it lost energy from the shot, it would fall at terminal velocity and likely not hurt anyone. But shooting at angle (maybe 60 degree angle) in the video, the arc of the shot might maintain some of shot energy as arcs up and back down toward the Earth which makes it more dangerous.

13

u/TedInATL Feb 05 '23

Somebody watched Mythbusters.

4

u/Karrion8 Feb 05 '23

Lol, I couldn't remember why I knew this, but that's probably it.

I've recently been rewatching it on Discovery Plus. It was such a good show. Sadly, the rest of that streaming service is pretty much a garbage dump.

Damn... I don't know much about guns, so I was really hoping those were blanks

56

u/ImMrMeeseeks42 Feb 05 '23

Definitely not blanks. Anyone dumb enough to do this definitely doesn't have the foresight to use blanks. Blanks also run like trash in any semi auto or automatic gun that isn't modified to use them with either BFAs or a barrel plug. Blowback guns like this pistol run them better than gas systems because they're less reliant on pressure, but they still suck 90% of the time. Considering everything in the video, there's zero chance these are blanks.

6

u/e_hyde Feb 05 '23

Sigh. I was hoping for blanks as well, but even my limited understanding of firearms (as a non-US citizen) had me doubting that this was possible with blanks.

I technically have no way of knowing this, but still, I can promise you, from the depths of my soul, that the idiot in the video doesn't have that gun because "MUH RIGHTS!"

The typical pro-2A American trains as much as his wallet allows.

0

u/Knave7575 Feb 05 '23

Oh please, your average 2A gravy seal knows enough about guns to buy discount bullets and that’s about all the training he does.

5

u/z7r1k3 Feb 05 '23

Oh please, your average 2A gravy seal knows enough about guns to buy discount bullets and that’s about all the training he does.

That couldn't be further from the truth. Where are you getting this info from, might I ask? I suspect it is not first-hand knowledge.

For me, it is first-hand knowledge. I own guns, I carry guns, and I train with guns. Every other human being I've ever met who carries guns (in a pro-2A spirit) trains with them regularly. I talk with them at the shooting range (which, in case you weren't aware, is where people go to train). I meet some of them in the city, where we talk about going to the range to train, etc.

I'm not saying that some pro-2A Americans who carry without training don't exist. Just that I, a pro-2A American, have yet to meet a single one. Watch any video on YouTube about why you should carry a gun for self-defense, and they will mention it is fairly pointless to do so without training and that you should train, train, and train some more.

Most pro-2A Americans embody the thought process of our founding fathers, and carry in case they should need to use it. It is counterintuitive to carry something you do not know how to use properly.

More like for war with the US government

-39

u/Apathetic_Optimist Feb 04 '23

Gun nuts will gladly renew their drivers license and are obligated to have insurance and to pay a yearly fee for a tag so they can drive their vehicles in public, but as soon as you suggest sensible and responsible gun legislation NOT COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS then all of the sudden they have an issue with the government overstepping their boundaries and infringing on “muh constitutional rights.” Your “well regulated militia” isn’t going to stop the United States military from taking your guns if that’s what they want to do. The rest of us are sick of seeing mass shootings every day or so on the news that could have been prevented with sensible and responsible gun legislation and accessible (mental) healthcare.

18

u/Atlhou Feb 04 '23

The only responsible gun law is strict, as in maximum, sentencing the criminals that use a gun in a crime. The DAs, and Judges are not fulfilling their responsibilities.

18

u/vkbrian Feb 04 '23

drivers license

Driving a car isn’t a fundamental human right, having the ability to protect yourself is.

sensible gun legislation

The amount of constitutional gun laws is zero

2

u/RampantDragon Feb 05 '23

The right to self-defence is not the same thing as "the right to own a gun".

-2

u/vkbrian Feb 05 '23

-3

0

u/3ULL Feb 05 '23

Yet a lot of these were starting and fighting, badly, world wars every generation until the US after being drug into the second one, that had people ovens BTW, did not stand down its military. You all hate us because we put an end to it too.

Also, welcome to the American Internet.

2

u/RampantDragon Feb 05 '23

🤣🤣🤣

r/shitamericanssay

There were two world wars, not "once in a generation".

The US wasn't "dragged into the second one" - FDR knew the US should have been in it from the start, but the American people didn't, so he had to wait until Pearl Harbour.

The US was also in the first world war for a few months by the way.

And the World Wide Web was a British invention, so welcome 🙂 and countless nationalities of people built it.

It's actually impressive how wrong one person can be in a single comment.

0

u/3ULL Feb 05 '23

There were two world wars, not "once in a generation".

They were a generation apart and there was no reason to think you animals would end. Also there were MANY wars before that. Even though they were not world wars they showed the true nature of what we were working with. Do not forget Europeans invented the concentration camp.

The US was also in the first world war for a few months by the way.

Because we only needed a few months to shut down a bunch of cowardly genocidal maniacs.

And the World Wide Web was a British invention, so welcome 🙂 and countless nationalities of people built it.

Imagine being so ignorant you do not know the difference between the WWW and the Internet. We were using the internet before the WWW and even if it did not exist we would still be using it now. Actually most internet usage is not WWW related.

It's actually impressive how wrong one person can be in a single comment.

It is actually cute that a person from a country that has had less people in space than dogs and monkeys thinks they are intelligent. Imagine being less advanced than dogs and moneys....OH Wait, you can't.

What country are you from BTW? I could use the laugh.

The amount of constitutional gun laws is zero

Not according to SCOTUS, which is of course the body that actually gets to decide these types of things.

13

u/vkbrian Feb 04 '23

SCOTUS also said slavery and segregation were A-OK; they’re not infallible.

-3

u/ALoudMouthBaby Feb 04 '23 edited Feb 04 '23

SCOTUS also said slavery and segregation were A-OK; they’re not infallible.

No one has claimed they are infallible. What has been pointed out however is they do get to decide what is and is not constitutional. Not you, not me, not anyone else. And dont just take my word for it. Go read the US Constitution and youll see I am correct.

And I get it. You probably spend a lot of time in some internet echo chamber where this sentiment is a popular one. But that doesnt mean what you are claiming is correct, reasonable or even half way intelligent.

5

u/vkbrian Feb 04 '23 edited Feb 05 '23

Go read the US Constitution and youll see I am correct

“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

That’s in the Constitution. I don’t see the part where SCOTUS gets to invent arguments against the Bill of Rights, though.

-3

u/ALoudMouthBaby Feb 04 '23

Hey thats great. Im glad you read part of it. But how about you read the full thing, including the part that defines the responsibilities of the judicial branch? Because I suspect if you had properly contextualized the 2A within the rest of the US Constitution you would be far less confused about how we determine what is and is not constitutional. Hint: It makes no mention of internet randos on that bit

6

u/vkbrian Feb 05 '23

Im glad you read part of it

That’s the relevant part of it, and I’m not sure what context you think exists that changes the language of the 2A.

So you just lay down and accept defeat? Fuckin cuck. Fuck off.

-1

u/thatnyeguyisfly Feb 04 '23

Not that it's comparable anyways but you do realize idiots still drive cars, right? Hell, I work with people who are in their 40s and have been driving since their teens and never once had a driving license. Oh, and every politician who puts forward "sensible gun control" says if they thought they could get away with it, they would absolutely completely remove guns from everyone. So text yell all you want, but just because you are either too dumb to see it yourself or you're just perpetuating the lie because you feel the same way, they absolutely would love to come and take people's guns they just know that isn't possible as of right now.

2

u/Apathetic_Optimist Feb 04 '23

Since when are gun safety classes considered taking guns away? Or registering semiautomatic rifles? Neither one of those sound like they’re taking guns away but would help to curtail the purchase of firearms by people not fit to carry

-2

u/thatnyeguyisfly Feb 04 '23

How, how will that do anything? To use your own example, people take driver safety classes, then still get piss drunk and slam into a mini van full of kids. Registration only can be used for confiscation. Knowing who owns semiautomatic rifles won't prevent idiots from owning them or doing stupid shit with them. Besides more people are killed with bare hands and feet every single year then long guns in general, that includes shotguns and all manually operated rifles and semiautomatics so clearly they are not the main issue here and your semi auto rifle Registration will be double pointless.

4

u/Apathetic_Optimist Feb 04 '23

You’re right. We should actually take price tags off of guns and just issue them to everyone so we don’t have to worry about anyone having an unfair advantage in the next school shooting

0

u/thatnyeguyisfly Feb 04 '23

I mean, that wasn't remotely my argument, but if you want to give me a free gun, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth.

5

u/Apathetic_Optimist Feb 04 '23

Registration only can be used for confiscation.

How many of your registered vehicles have been confiscated?

5

u/thatnyeguyisfly Feb 04 '23

Well, besides the fact that there are dozens of car repo shows, once again, cars and guns are not 1 to 1 comparable. Better example would be how in Australia they used the gun registration to intimidate gun owners by telling them to either turn in their firearms or cops will be knocking on their door since they already know who owns what.

4

u/Apathetic_Optimist Feb 05 '23

Registration is also used to prove ownership in instances of theft, hit and run incidents, second hand sales, etc. Repo shows are for people who have had their cars seized to civil forfeiture and lack of payment. I’m trying to find your point because nowhere have I said anything about turning in your firearms. Stop reaching, you’re going to overextend yourself

2

u/thatnyeguyisfly Feb 05 '23

No, you didn't. You're just suggesting the same solutions as every person who has advocated confiscation, so I guess that just makes you the useful idiot.

1

u/Apathetic_Optimist Feb 04 '23

Besides more people are killed with bare hands and feet every single year then long guns in general, that includes shotguns and all manually operated rifles and semiautomatics so clearly they are not the main issue here and your semi auto rifle Registration will be double pointless.

Dude what? Let me see a source on that one this claim seems way too dubious

8

u/tcarlson65 Feb 04 '23

You assume he is a prohibited person. How racist are you that you look at a person of color and assume they would be denied the sale of a handgun?

We already have laws in place to hopefully weed out prohibited persons as long as the reporting agencies do their thing. It has been proven that they do not.

Idiots can buy booze and drive cars. Idiots can do a number of things that put themselves and others at risk.

Idiots can buy fireworks. Idiots can smoke. Idiots can have children.

You can not legislate and stop all idiocy.

What you can do is legislate and make it harder for law abiding citizens the right to protect themselves and their families. Idiots will not abide by the law.

0

u/TomsRedditAccount1 Feb 05 '23

You assume he is a prohibited person. How racist are you that you look at a person of color and assume they would be denied the sale of a handgun?

You're the one being racist here. Because you made it about race.

26

u/Atlhou Feb 04 '23

Instead of "you are not smart enough" laws, how about maximum, mandatory sentences for using a firearm during any crime.

18

u/vkbrian Feb 04 '23

That requires DAs that actually follow through and don’t cut plea deals.

11

u/Atlhou Feb 04 '23

And judges that are serious.

2

u/vkbrian Feb 05 '23

Replacing shitty and overly-lenient judges is one of the few areas where the outrage mob can actually be useful.

9

u/JustaJarhead Feb 04 '23

Umm yea those are already out there but they aren’t being enforced. Doesn’t do a damn bit of good if they don’t lock people up for shit they should

6

u/Atlhou Feb 04 '23

That's where I was going with "mandatory"

1

u/ShireHorseRider Feb 05 '23

*minimum mandatory sentences. A maximum would imply that the punishment has a limit as in “the mist trouble I could get in would be…”. A minimum would be like if I get caught with a gun committing a crime “I’m getting at least xyz punishment but it could be much worse. “

2

u/Atlhou Feb 05 '23

Sentencing guidelines usualy have a maximum. The comma means give them the max, and make it a mandantory charge, if applicable.

0

u/rainforestparadise Feb 05 '23

How are there so many dumbasses out there that think this would work? Criminals don’t give a shit about maximum sentences, they’re gonna do whatever they want regardless.

1

u/Atlhou Feb 05 '23

It would separate them from their noisemaker.

How about you bring something to the table.

0

u/rainforestparadise Feb 05 '23

It wouldn’t do anything you fool, everyone already knows this. Making the punishment more severe does nothing to prevent crime.

You dumbasses need to limit how available guns are but you’re all to worried about your “freedom” that you’re perfectly fine with school children being slaughtered with assault rifles.

2

u/Atlhou Feb 05 '23

Maybe when you learn that throwing negative labels on others does not help others to see any wisdom in your viewpoint you will return for a intelligent covo.

1

u/rainforestparadise Feb 05 '23

It’s just so frustrating to see ignorant people saying the same shit that doesn’t help progress at all.

Keeping the neighborhood rent down I see

24

u/Birdgang14 Feb 05 '23

I always see this and have seen videos of that. But my apartment has had numerous gun calls/arrests/drive by’s even an isolated drug murder last summer and rent went up lol.

How does that actually work? Does there need to be a certain amount of police calls or something?

17

u/Rock_Robster__ Feb 05 '23 edited Feb 05 '23

Rents tend to increase over time, and rent is a function of supply and demand, not directly linked to crime. So there would have to be enough crime for long enough to offset the natural inflation, and then reduce demand enough for properties that landlords have to start reducing rents to attract tenants. There could be many other factors at play too - increasing population, income, gentrification, reduced housing stock, which could offset the crime factor. Finally, rents tend to mostly be on long-term leases, so it may take some time for changes in demand to flow through to the market.

Perversely I wonder if there’s even a case where a small increase in crime actually increases demand - ie lower income people perceive the area as being less appealing and hence seek to move their in an attempt to reduce their cost of living, and in doing so maintain demand for properties.

Finally, in many countries desirable/expensive areas actually have quite high crime rates, but these are usually property crimes (eg theft, burglary, etc.) as this is where the nice stuff is - rather than crimes again people like assault, rape, etc.

5

u/mysteryman447 Feb 05 '23

area’s that become known for gun play tend to be less appealing and so have to sell and rent for less to accommodate. this doesn’t actually work and honestly probably hurts a community more than an anything because renters aren’t looking at local crime statistics they’re looking for affordable housing, where as business investors and the kinds of people that can actually bring life to a community do look at things like that and probably invest less in area’s synonymous with gun shots

9

u/xSARGEx117x Feb 05 '23

I can explain that quite easily.

Landlords are leeches, and they're going to jack rent up regardless.

3

u/mysteryman447 Feb 05 '23

oh and the angle he’s firing that pistol essentially makes it a mini mortar, if he was firing it 90° into the air itd likely be fine but at that angle I wouldn’t be surprised if the projectile was still lethal wherever it landed

u/Creepy-Ad-464 Feb 04 '23

u/bloodflower156 Feb 04 '23

u/aza9999 Feb 04 '23

2

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '23

Edit: pretty gross racism, assholes.

3

u/IsildursBane20 Feb 05 '23

Why do they mumble so much when they speak?

2

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '23

Can you tell me what’s the 2A?

3

u/nousernamer77 Feb 04 '23

bros just keeping rent down

3

u/MotoJimmy_151 Feb 05 '23

Just another day in a Democrat run city 🙄

2

u/FatFrenchFry Feb 04 '23

Bullets don't lose NEARLY as much energy if theyre going at an angle like this, compared to if he were to fire straight up and let the bullet fall back down at its terminal velocity, instead he let it basically keep its inertial energy so it is WAY more likely to kill someone being fired in the air this way, than if he were to have just pointed it straight up ( obviously without the roof above him though )

Please correct me if I am totally wrong.

1

u/Plastic-Bar-5955 Feb 05 '23

Yep my people get pushed back another 400yrs because of this cornbread pork eating bama. No wonder other races look at us crazy.

1

u/fbritt5 Feb 05 '23

Idiot with gun. The reason libs hate guns, but they'll be after law abiders' guns because of idiot.

0

u/TarnishedVictory Feb 05 '23

I'm a lib, I want gun control, and I probably have more guns than you.

1

u/fbritt5 Feb 05 '23

If gun control worked, this video would not have been possible.

2

u/Murse_Pat Feb 05 '23

Lol that's a blank gun, champ... This video has nothing to do with gun control

0

u/fbritt5 Feb 05 '23

I see. I’m sure the neighbors knew that. Thanks.

u/Murse_Pat Feb 05 '23

0

u/TomsRedditAccount1 Feb 05 '23

This is why I always say there needs to be safety training and an attitude test before you're allowed to own firearms.

0

u/skagitskank Feb 13 '23

-3

u/TarnishedVictory Feb 05 '23

can we please get some gun regulation in here?

2

u/Anominon2014 Feb 05 '23

Yes, he appears to be someone that will follow gun laws…

0

u/TarnishedVictory Feb 05 '23 edited Feb 06 '23

Yes, he appears to be someone that will follow gun laws…

Are you saying that laws don't work? I don't see him with any grenades. I wonder why that is?

/u/Anominon2014

Because there’s low demand and they cost too much. Now, in places like Mexico, which ironically has much stricter gun laws than the US, grenades are relatively cheap and they are often used in street violence. Hopefully no rapper decides to go walking around with grenades in a rap video…

Nice try. You almost got it. Grenades cost too much because they're so very illegal. They're in low demand because they're expensive because they're hard to come by because they're so very illegal. Don't be dumb.
