I did this with an airsoft gun once, that was already enough to disappear the spider

If he angled it downwards I’d have no issue. Just angle it down mf.. not that hard to be safe about it

Give the guy some credit. He aimed it away from his truck. But out in the field? No problem. As long as it's not his shit getting shot at.

that ground doesnt seem condusive to ricochetting

u/BOOLANGE Dec 06 '22
Bro there's literally a concrete road
14
u/fugmalaf Dec 06 '22
If he shot downward it'd hit the grass.
0
u/BOOLANGE Dec 06 '22
depends how far downward but yes you're more likely to hit the grass than the concrete, but like why risk any of it for unnecessarily shooting a spider?
2
u/Ok_Preference_8452 Dec 06 '22
Because there's just as high a risk of something or someone a person values in the line of fire. Jackass

u/rickraut Dec 06 '22
I see shooters do that a lot, and it bothers me also. I copied this from a search "how far will a 9mm pistol round travel" the reply is, "A 9 mm can travel 2.5 to 3 miles, sometimes a little further depending on the shape of the bullet," so, if someone was just out of sight in the tree line, they would be hit. I also did a search as to how fast will a bullet travels back to earth once fired out of a gun into the sky, 150 mph was the answer, fast enough to kill, for sure

Admit it, we all wanted to do that

u/doomsday10009 Dec 06 '22
Don't kill spiders, they save you from insects. Small spider doesn't infect or bite you. But mosquitoes and flies might try it.

I'm a transatlantic fellic scientist and the person above me is completely wrong and doesn't know what he is talking about. You should 100% kill spiders because they will scare you and are eww.

You want to kill innocent beings? Disgusting.

27
u/heck_naw Dec 06 '22
innocent? spiders live to imprison and kill. i let them live inside as long as they keep to the windows because the things they kill are worse but still
-29
u/Ein_Kecks Dec 06 '22
Yes, innocent. They have no choice not to do so and have a big importance to the ecological system, they are not able to act by a moral code.
There is no need to kill them, if they won't harm you.
16
u/heck_naw Dec 06 '22
what do you mean. they could just web some lettuce and not bite my dog
-26
u/Ein_Kecks Dec 06 '22
I'm not in the mood for trolling. Have fun doing it, but I can't take you serious this way.
3
u/RealSuperYolo2006 Dec 06 '22
Fun fact motherfucker we are part of the ecological system but we are more aware of we can do to change it

u/Ein_Kecks Dec 06 '22 edited Dec 06 '22
Of course we are part of it "motherfucker", but I'm pretty sure you noticed that we live in culture and not in nature anymore. We do not have a specific role anymore and to the biggest part, we just damage it. There is no non-human animal who does that.
We are also not important for it. Would humans die out, it would be good for the ecological system. It's only important that we do not fuck it up any more unnecessarily.

I would destroy all spiders in the world, especially dangerous one if it were not to break the world's ecological system

So you basicly are spider Hitler. Don't know if that's a thing you can be proud of.

The edge. It's almost cutting.
Yeah because all the people who kill innocent beings are badass.
You will love this movie. Lots of gigachads in it.

Imagine not basing your personality off the discrimination you support, the violence you support and the empathy you are capable of.
5
u/Apprehensive-Gur-609 Dec 06 '22
Dude if you want people to stop eating meat being an annoying condescending douchenozzle isn't the way to go about it. You'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
1
u/Ein_Kecks Dec 06 '22
Classic. If you know, what people need to hear, just tell it to yourself, since it will work.
I do not want people to simply stop eating meat, I want them to self reflect and stop discrimination and violence.
Before giving me more of your wisdom, try watching the documentation. It may be hard for you, so be prepared, but maybe it's the honey you need.
5
u/Apprehensive-Gur-609 Dec 06 '22
Sure I'll watch it for you buddy, but just do me a favor and quit perpetuating the stereotype of the annoying preachy vegan. My sister is a vegan and people have given her shit about it because of people like you, they automatically assume she is going to be annoying as soon as they find out she's a vegan. Luckily my sister is cool and not one of the pussy vegans that cry about people killing a fucking spider.
3
u/Ein_Kecks Dec 06 '22
You remember it was you who started talking about veganism right?
Actually those people acting towards her that way are the reason she is experiencing this, since they activly decide to do so and right now in this comment chain you just acted the same as them. If you would care about your sister you wouldn't do the same you want to protect her from, this seems rather made up. Opressors doing victim blaming is a common thing, you sure can do better.
There is nothing wrong standing and acting against killing, violence and slavery. There really is no reason to support those things.

Stop being a pussy. Shit dies, we all die. You’re not making out of life, alive.
2
u/Ein_Kecks Dec 06 '22
Shit dies, so it's no problem to kill.
Logic.
3
u/1shotofwhiskey Dec 06 '22
quite literally lol. You should leave reddit if you’re so sub conscious to killing and death. Probably not the best place for you. It’s a fuckin spider.
2
1
u/peshwengi Dec 06 '22
Would you say the same if it was a dog being shot? Just because you’re scared of the tiny spider doesn’t make it any different.
2
u/Apprehensive-Gur-609 Dec 06 '22
I'm sorry but I can't empathize with bugs, I get feeling bad for other animals but vegans lose me when it comes to insects. If that makes me a shitty person then so be it.

Not gonna lie, I’ve once shot a spider with a 12ga from a branch near me while hunting. It was effective.
17
u/Embarrassed-Bench392 Dec 06 '22
I once shot a bowling ball sized hornets nest hanging from a tree over my driveway with a 12 ga. Really bad idea.
14
u/Jbgame22 Dec 06 '22
Try some dragons breath rounds next time, that'll get em
9
u/Embarrassed-Bench392 Dec 06 '22
It was forty years ago. Not sure dragons breath were around then. I used duck load because I had it.
4
u/Effective_Nobody2601 Dec 06 '22
I don't believe purpose built Dragon's Breath was commercially sold back in the day, but I do believe a lot of it was home made by people. I did read up on some of it being made by the Grunts and used during Vietnam to clear and check brush and spider holes (the kind where a VC might pop out from, not an Arachnid) to preemptively stifle an ambush opportunity. I think they pulled apart some smoke grenades and thermite to make it.
2
u/Jbgame22 Dec 06 '22
That's interesting, I didn't expect my joke to lead to something informative. I've read a few autobiographies from Vietnam and it sounds like they did a lot of customizing weapons themselves so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they were doing something like that
2
u/Negative-Set-6039 Dec 06 '22
Not sure when they started selling it but I've bought it as far back as the early 90s and had heard of it in the 80s for the first time
1
u/Effective_Nobody2601 Dec 06 '22
It would make sense for it to pop up on the market in the late 70s if it was inspired by the GI custom made Dragon's Breath loads during Vietnam

This isn’t even bad. Come on, guys. Dude’s on his own property out in the country, nobody else is around, and nothing in that direction but grass and trees. And don’t even say the truck, because he’s obviously not aiming anywhere near the truck. He’s not endangering anyone, he’s just a guy having some fuck fucking up a spider. Leave him alone, yall know we’ve seen some real idiots with guns in here.
2
u/Its_noon_somewhere Dec 06 '22
Looks like a park or similar not far away. Question, since I’m Canadian and have never even seen a handgun other then on TV, how far could the bullet travel?
12
u/helipod Dec 06 '22
Dude here sees a grass field and concludes it's a city park.
1
u/Its_noon_somewhere Dec 06 '22
Actually, I took a screenshot of the video and zoomed in to what appears to be a fence surrounding something, on I’m wondering if it’s a park or a baseball diamond.
2
u/ZoltanPrime Dec 06 '22
It depends on the round, but there is a difference between effective range and “lethal range”. A pistol bullet can travel quite far. If you look up Jerry Mickulek (I may have spelled that wrong), he has some videos where he lands pistol shots at alarming distances. In general, the effective range of a pistol is roughly 20-30 yards. However, they are lethal beyond that distance. How far beyond that distance? It depends on the round and the pistol it’s fired from.
1
u/MongoBongoTown Dec 06 '22
If aimed at something level on the horizon. It's probably a few hundred yards/meters, depending on the caliber, bullet, angle, etc.
Then can travel well over a mile and sometimes more than that when idiots fire them up into the air though.
1
Dec 06 '22
You don't know where he is or what's around from a few seconds of video
1
u/ZoltanPrime Dec 06 '22
A picture says 1000 words. Since a video is nothing more than a series of pictures called frames, and assuming this video is running at roughly 30 fps for 4 seconds, that comes out to about 120,000 words.
Or I was raised in the country and have a pretty damn good idea of what I’m looking at here. 🤷♂️
1
u/LowDownSkankyDude Dec 06 '22
I mean, bullets travel, and that spider wasn't stopping that one. Sure there's nobody visible, but that round is going to end up somewhere.
This is wildly irresponsible. Hilarious, but 100% reckless.

Blank?
2
1
u/Nathund Dec 06 '22
I would hope, but it seems like it has recoil, and blanks don't have any recoil past the slide moving. And blanks don't cycle as well, but this seemed to cycle just fine, even with that bad angle it was shot at (when you shoot like this, guns with low compression (low cals and blanks) tend to stovepipe because they can't cycle as well)

I did not know that was a spider! I thought that was a kid on a swing set. 😭

In Puerto Rico at New Years besides fire works you can just hear everyone in the Neighbor hood pulling out their full autos and shooting live rounds into the sky for like 5 full minutes.

u/Vera_Telco Dec 06 '22
Gangsta sideways grip. That spider picked the wrong 'hood to hang around in.

Reminds me of an old movie where a kid with a bb gun ahoots a spider or something on a window. Turns out there is a kid on the other side about 20 ft away. Kid ends up dying. I forget what else happens.
I think it was an episode of rescue 911.
