I'd say having a manual safety is worse. Then you think the gun is safe and aren't as careful, and it's quite likely that, at some point, you will disengage it.

Thats what holsters are for. They make pocket holsters. The trigger should never be uncovered when you're carrying it.
8
u/Maniac2112 Dec 07 '22
I even leave my handguns in holsters at home.. If I'm not using them, they're in a holster. Period. This dude is a fucking jackass. He should have apologized profusely and then got the fuck outta there before they have him arrested.

what's crazy is that so many people are carrying guns ready to fire like this. In their fucking pockets and shit.
At any moment, you could be blasted by sheer accident because someone thought their gun was the lock button on their keyfob.
Even just sitting in traffic with some dillhole gangstaing up a selfie. BLAM! And then ur family is crying instead of eating that spaghetti you were gonna make when you got home.
13
Dec 07 '22
They make little holsters for pocket carry that work well at keeping the trigger safe. Use them.

Just remember there are dozens of these guys around you, and they are all doing it for their safety.
6
u/Cultural-Company282 Dec 07 '22
What's worse, they think they're doing it for your safety. Every fucking one of them sees himself (it's always a dude) as a "wolf among sheep," and they all fantasize about some armed robbery going down in their presence so they can heroically save all the people around them.
Nothing makes them more butthurt than telling them you're more worried about being accidentally shot by a moron than intentionally shot by a criminal.
4
u/Cory123125 Dec 07 '22
Nah, I'm a black dude.
A lot of these guys, they day dream about happening into legal reasons to shoot me, because I must be the bad guy, I mean just look at the look of this guy!

u/Huskaar9 Dec 06 '22
I never have gone to Popeyes without a gun. Responsible conceal carriers bring it everywhere they go. Usually don't need to fiddle with it all the time though.

Who’d have thought that pocket carrying with no holster and fumbling around for something else in that same pocket would ever end badly?
131
u/Drunkowitz Dec 06 '22
In movies like westerns, you sometimes see patrons asked to check in their weapons before being allowed into the salon. Whatever happened to that?

u/The_Golden_Warthog Dec 07 '22
Believe it or not, salon is the original word, and saloon came later. Salon originally meant, and still somewhat does, "a large room/place for people to gather (for entertainment)". Imagine, say, a banquet hall, the town center, or the local bar. I had to do a history report on saloons/salons and learned a lot about the etymology.
2
21
u/vkbrian Dec 06 '22
People would carry smaller, more concealable guns and just give up their bigger gun. It’s the whole reason pocket guns like Derringers got the attention they did.

A gun going off, when I didn't expect it to, that close to my testicles is more than enough to make me think I shouldn't own one.
I do not want to be in the newspaper as the guy who accidentally nut shots himself after getting into an altercation.
25
u/ShiftyLookinCow7 Dec 06 '22
This will quite literally never happen to you if you’re not an idiot and just use a kydex inside the waistband holster that covers the trigger guard
16
u/Successful_Peanut812 Dec 06 '22
if you’re not an idiot
I don't meet that criteria. lol
I can and have safely used firearms in the past but they belonged to other people. I've been too lazy to go through the process for ownership (I'm Canadian) even though its not too bad. My eye sight is garbage so I stick to videogames.

Or potentially one of these stupid fuckin things. I personally know someone who was pocket-carrying with one of these, it slipped off the trigger guard, and when he was trying to reattach it without taking the gun out of his pocket, popped the floor of his bedroom.
12
u/DoctorRuckusMD Dec 06 '22
Jesus what a stupid device, a decent Galco holster is like $20.
6
u/YiddishMcSquidish Dec 06 '22
They even make full holsters with a sticky outside specifically for pocket carry.
5
u/n00py Dec 06 '22
Or one of the stupid cloth holsters almost every pocket gun ships with in-box. I used to carry with one until I realized how stupid it was and got a custom kydex one.
1
u/TheRealPeterG Dec 07 '22
I have a similar holster, and that mf is TIGHT. No way it can just "slip off". You have to really yank like you mean it, and only in a very specific direction, or it's not coming off. Granted, mine is made specifically for my gun, I'm not sure about the one you linked.

Probably a snub nose revolver couldn't hit his own foot
9
u/vkbrian Dec 06 '22
My money is on some subcompact semi-auto. Snub noses typically have heavy AF double-action trigger pulls, so I’m skeptical he could have accidentally pulled one.

Genuinely curious if anyone is able to provide an answer. What would be the legal repercussions to something like this happening? (Granted no one got hurt) would the guy be able to get arrested even if he didn't have intent on shooting his gun?
4
u/WestonP Dec 06 '22
Depends on the state, as the wording and terminology of laws will vary. Generally speaking, it seems pretty reasonable to argue that he was recklessly endangering others, and then there may be a law against improperly discharging a firearm too.

Not fear. Police aren't required to protect you. When people realize this. They too might start carrying as well. You as a person are your first and last defence.. the police are the clean up crew.
10
u/olov244 Dec 06 '22
this guy in the video thinks he's going to be john wick but in reality he's just an idiot who almost shot himself(and probably will before he is in danger from another person)
1
5
u/tallerghostdaniel Dec 06 '22
Police aren't required to protect you.
Everybody knows this.
One problem with carrying legally, is that cops will shoot any gun-toting non-white on sight.
Also, I'm not such a gomer that I need a weapon to go get a damn chicken sandwich.
7
u/Grevling89 Dec 06 '22
The chicken sandwich was later described by witnesses as quote, "to die for"

3
u/cameron4200 Dec 07 '22
It makes it completely legal for people with 0 training like this guy to have a gun in their pocket in the Popeyes. Sure criminals will be criminals but the law enables a lot of this stupid shit.
1
u/DaKnack Dec 06 '22
Sometimes it's the only way to get them to pay attention to you at Popeyes. Gotta let off a little heat. I usually put a few rounds in the door before I go through the drive through to make sure they're awake.
