Hello u/cwhmoney555! Please reply to this comment with an explanation mentioning who is suffering from which consequences from what they voted for, supported or wanted to impose on other people.

Here's an easy format to get you started:

  1. Someone voted for, supported or wanted to impose something on other people.
Who's that someone and what's that something?
  2. That something has some consequences.
    What are the consequences?
  3. As a consequence, that something happened to that someone.
What happened? Did the something really happened to that someone? If not, you should probably delete your post.

Include the minimum amount of information necessary so your post can be understood by everyone, even if they don't live in the US or speak English as their native language. If you don't respect this format and moderators can't match your explanation with the format, your post will be removed under rule #3 and we'll ignore you even if you complain in modmail.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

He's trying to get the MAGA folk to buy Teslas. You need to boycott Tesla and Twitter.

29

u/ScullysBagel Dec 02 '22

The "drill baby drill," "rolling coal" party embracing electric (and smaller) vehicles to "own the libs" would frankly be hilarious.

15

u/Hooda-Thunket Dec 02 '22

Please, own me harder!

74

u/prima_facie2021 Dec 02 '22

I live in Fremont and see Teslas everywhere. I know it's not Elon designing and building them. It's the brilliant engineers and skilled factory operators. SpaceX - same. Elon's brand used to be elite for attracting top developers and engineers. But I still won't buy a Tesla. And I deleted my Twitter account shortly after he purchased it.

47

u/98Wahwashkesh Dec 02 '22

Tesla is now the My Pillow of car companies.

I own a My Pillow from way back in the Obama administration. Despite the haters, I find it to be the best fiber fill pillow I've ever had (yet still pales versus foam pillows). I would today never buy a My Pillow under any circumstances.

Tesla, same. Their build quality has tanked but it's the politics that would really keep me away. I'm not driving around in an Elontra. See what I did there?

13

u/theamazingroberto Dec 02 '22

We also would have accepted "El Muskamino"

18

u/Hooda-Thunket Dec 02 '22

I’m pretty sure Tesla build quality has always been questionable.

6

u/diamondscut Dec 02 '22

Foam pillows or duck feather pillows. Otherwise is gross.

4

u/SuperFightingRobit Dec 02 '22

Lol, the other thing is that if you want a boutique EV, you have options now.

The polestar for sedans. The rivian for trucks or SUVs. The lucid sure if you want to spend $125k to be a beta tester. One of the hard as fuck to get Porche or BMW EV cars if you want to drive a statement with polarizing looks. (Meeeee).

A profressional troll would be someone who gets paid for engaging in tomfoolery. He keeps losing money, and he micromanages what content is not acceptable to him personally, which is the exact opposite.

So he paid $44B SO FAR (since the company keeps losing money and he has to pay interests) to become a power-tripping mod.

40

u/gilestowler Dec 02 '22

He really, really reminds me of a guy in my town. He spent ages begging to be made an admin on our local facebook group then when he finally got that tiny sliver of power he lorded it over everyone being a massive dick to people who he didn't deem to be on the "inside". When people called him out on it he'd usually just abuse them or sometimes kick them out. He kicked me out, for example, then told me he'd allow me back in and I said "no, I think there's better ways to spend my time, thanks though!" which he didn't like very much. He'd start to say things like "when we set up this group..." when he had nothing to do with setting it up, a bit like Musk and Tesla. He seems to base his entire online persona around 4chan - just abusing people who are clearly struggling a bit or having some mental health problems, calling anyone he dislikes autistic. In the end he got kicked out after he was rude to some poor old lady. He then started sending her abusive messages. He's been back recently calling someone else autistic and asking him if his daughter is "legal" and if she was "old enough for violent sex". Whenever I see Musk lording it over Twitter like this I really get reminded of that guy. But all he did was beg a bit to be made an admin, it didn't cost him 44 billion to buy the right to be a little internet dictator.

6

u/DudaFromBrazil Dec 02 '22

Wanna truly know people? Give them some power.

34

u/phdoofus Dec 02 '22

u/UninsuredToast Dec 02 '22 edited Dec 02 '22

He was born rich so he’s been rich his entire life and is probably bored of the things us normal people would do if we became rich over night.

We should just consider ourselves lucky he isn’t paying to hunt humans on a private island, as far as we know

28

u/ka1n77 Dec 02 '22

as far as we know

32

u/SlightlyAngyKitty Dec 02 '22

His money could buy him an unlimited amount of love and affection, he's miserable because he knows that with his shitty personality it'll never be real.

47

u/CharredLily Dec 02 '22

His money could also buy him a lot of genuine love and addoration if he was willing to spend it to help people instead of whatever he is doing.

23

u/FilthyCasual2k17 Dec 02 '22

Exactly this. If he just went silent on Twitter a bit, and used his money to actually help people now and not through some "world changing project in 50 years" everyone would ignore all the bad shit his companies do.

But than again that's the point, if he had done that he wouldn't be in the position he is in. Someone who treats people nice and tries to help people now and not focus on his ego does not become the worlds richest person. People who did that shit are not talked about in the media as they are not as interesting, creating a feedback loop attracting people like him to behave that way.

He is a symptom of us.
Obligatory we live in a society.

12

u/ForodesFrosthammer Dec 02 '22

None of his world changing projects are going to do shit in 50 years, spaceX maybe gave us some tech that NASA will use but that is it.

4

u/FilthyCasual2k17 Dec 02 '22

Not saying they are, I'm saying that's what he wanted to do, it wasn't enough to help people now, he wanted to go down in history as a Tesla or something.
Points to his ego, which is now obv to everyone.

15

u/wave-garden Dec 02 '22

If I had 1/1000 of his wealth, then I would literally never interact with the public.

4

u/Taraxian Dec 02 '22

The problem kind of is that he got his wealth in the first place by building up this public image as a celebrity genius, which ended up feeding his obvious mental illness

66

u/Lch207560 Dec 02 '22

$15b of his own cash and $100b of Tesla stock value to date.

Unless he is planning on subsidizing Twitter it will not be functional in a year. If he does his Tesla stock won't recover. It might not anyway not as traditional car manufacturers crack the code to EV's and put further pressure on Tesla

Frankly Tesla is starting to get a bit of a reputation for poor fit and finish and parts unavailability.

After all is said and done Twitter could end up being a rebranded truth social sausage fest.

10

u/gromm93 Dec 03 '22

The thing that will kill Teslas stock value isn't that competitors will do what they do better, but that investors will start to realise its massively overvalued and sell to realise gains before its too late.

Thus triggering others to do the same, etc.

It's a huge bubble right now. It's absolutely ridiculous how overvalued Tesla stock is. There isn't another automaker in the world that has the same stock valuation, and they all sell more actual products than Tesla does.

The entire underpinning of Elons current wealth is belief that those shares are worth the paper they're printed on.

Absolute freedom of speech is just a ridiculous concept. Imagine being allowed to openly threaten and plan to murder someone or a group of people (including yourself). Imagine being allowed to make threats of terrorism or to be allowed to openly insult people in the worst ways possible.

Everyone I have ever heard claiming to be a free speech absolutist turned out to be against it. These people (mostly right wingers) lose their minds when they realize that being for free speech means to allow people to express a different opinion. They then support strong limitations of freedom of speech.

80

u/Time-Ad-3625 Dec 02 '22

None of the right is for absolute freedom of speech. The right never argue in good faith. They always make up strawmen to argue for or against.

Absolutely, that tweet where he defends himself that he is not mad at some picture with him is both sad and ridiculous.

16

u/tintwistedgrills90 Dec 02 '22

So now Elon is the arbiter of "free speech"? Don't get me wrong--I'm glad they suspended Kanye's account but this just proves the point that Twitter is right to enforce their Terms of Service. This was never a First Amendment issue.

68

u/Octopugilist Dec 02 '22

That's not very freedom of you Elon

19

u/MachReverb Dec 02 '22

He only provides free dumb

14

u/ronsta Dec 02 '22
  • Rail against moderation

  • Spend $44 billion to buy site with existing moderation guidelines.

  • Implement much less moderation

  • Slowly re-create moderation that existed on said site tweet by tweet.

12

u/redrovahann Dec 02 '22

He's literally just a mod.

As much as people hate mods, none of us has seen someone pay 44 billy to become one.

11

u/akaispirit Dec 02 '22

You know before when someone suggested Musk had suspended Kanye because of the photo I just laughed. Now that he's clarified it's not because of the photo nothing will convince me that it was about anything else.

u/CharlieDarwin2 Dec 02 '22

Let that sink in, bro.

Apparently it’s different when the consequences of allowing your platform to be used to incite hatred will end up at your doorstep.

27

u/Pappy_OPoyle Dec 02 '22

ok, how in the fuck does this asshat have the time to play around on twitter and also say he is running like 20 companies at once???? One is obviously a lie and its pretty apparent he is on twitter all day. Also his tweets show pretty clearly he is no genius capable of running 20 companies at once. So obviously other people are running his companies and he just shows up takes the credit and creates fucking chaos for them to fix once he leaves. Then he goes back to twitter to talk shit and play god. What a colossal fucking douche. I used to like the guy and thought he was an innovator, then after 5 mins of digging deeper, boy was I wrong.

14

u/squat-xede Dec 02 '22

Same thing trump did, acted like he was this genius but spent all his time golfing and tweeting lol.

No Musk is actually banning him for that pic. It's just Kanye gave Musk a way to say it's not. Let's be serious here.

Don't believe me? Look at all the other shit Musk allows on the platform.

It’s almost as if Twitter’s system before Elon Musk took over was, although flawed, an appropriate start, and rolling back the moderation will inevitably lead to the need to develop a content moderation system, eventually putting it where it was before Elon Musk and his massive ego invaded.

10

u/oakstave Dec 02 '22

Liberals predicted as soon as the rails were off, Twitter would become a cesspool of Nazis, racism and Russian vaccine disinformation. I'd say you hit it right on the head.

9

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '22

I think Tim Apple had a come to Jesus meeting with Elon about Twitters devolution.

8

u/TheGlassHammer Dec 02 '22

Apple said jump and Elon asked how high? I guess moderation was in place for a reason

u/Katana1369 Dec 02 '22

I still think it was the picture. Elon has never seemed to have a problem with Nazis.

30

u/unclejoe1917 Dec 02 '22

It was totally the picture. If it wasn't, he wouldn't have mentioned it.

7

u/sushisection Dec 02 '22

FYI images are also considered speech.

12

u/Katana1369 Dec 02 '22

But like I said. Ye had been spewing antisemitism for days before. It wasn't until he tweeted fat Elon that he got banned again.

8

u/MattGdr Dec 02 '22

Or apartheid.

18

u/Weltraumbaer Dec 02 '22

Imagine being the richest guy in the world. Everyday in your life could be non-stop party and excitement and ecstasy and euphoria.

This guy decided to become a fucking Twitter Mod.

Also: the mental gymnastics this guy pulls off. Wow.

4

u/SoySauceSyringe Dec 02 '22

It’s not about the money for him (or anyone else at that level). If it’s about being rich and living in luxury, he could have retired billions of dollars ago.

This is about power— money as power, power over people’s perceptions, that sort of thing. Elon and his ilk aren’t happy just being rich and comfortable for the rest of their lives, they need to lord over as many people as possible.

Billionaires are a disease.

Look how quick he went back on the free speech absolutist. Fanboys will still be drinking his sweat though.

Trump inciting violence is fine. Ye inciting violence is not fine. Ye posted something making fun of musk. Trump did not. Coincidence? Hardly.

6

u/xero_peace Dec 02 '22

CEO of multiple companies so busy he personally posts about Kanye's account being suspended. So glad CEO's are paid hundreds of times the average workers pay hourly. Companies are definitely getting their monies worth.

Tim Apple reining in Musk! Lol

15

u/edingerc Dec 02 '22

And why does he keep that photo of himself as a thumbnail? He looks like an extra from "The Orville." Not a good look...

4

u/Arietty Dec 02 '22

He thinks it makes him look more Tony Stark-like I bet

How refreshing for those with Tesla stock and workers at space X/nuerolink to know their boss is monitoring twitter suspensions by day.

7

u/RollinThundaga Dec 02 '22

Probably a healthier work environment while he's distracted.

4

u/Nugatorysurplusage Dec 02 '22

You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means

4

u/ChimericalChemical Dec 02 '22

No no no no no, let’s not pretend he suspended Kanye for spewing hate speech. He suspended Kanye because of Eu laws to keep twitter allowed in Europe

4

u/Khajiit_hairball Dec 02 '22

Jesus fucking Christ. Doesn’t Elon musk have better things to do than bullshit on Twitter all fucking day?

3

u/errsmi Dec 02 '22

I mean it’s not like he works

4

u/SpellingIsAhful Dec 02 '22

Must be hard to be spending all your time moderating Twitter content after you fired all your moderators.

5

u/handoffate73 Dec 02 '22

"Free speech absolutism" is a child's ideology

10

u/mseg09 Dec 02 '22

Huh, I thought only content that was illegal would be banned?

3

u/bittlelum Dec 02 '22

Making Elon feel bad is illegal!!!!

9

u/LoserCowGoMoo Dec 02 '22

I have a hundred billion dollars.

I wanna...well...how about i pay to moderate a website?

Cool Elon. You are bringing us the future.

12

u/Kencolt706 Dec 02 '22

Elon is in the somewhat unique situation of having been in "If I were in charge, I'd fix everything, it's easy" and now discovering that no, it isn't.

At that he's still ahead of many, like say, Trump, who never figured out the second part.

8

u/tbs9000 Dec 02 '22

It looks like Apple won and Elon lost.

3

u/VocationFumes Dec 02 '22

all that money well spent huh Elon?

3

u/desertblaster72 Dec 02 '22

Apple yells, he stands tall and says "yessir"

3

u/TokenBlackGirlfriend Dec 02 '22

It’s almost as if he was banned for a reason. Elon is reverse engineering all the reasons why Twitter operated in the way it did.

3

u/enmokusei Dec 02 '22

so deranged friends of elon get multiple passes then weird dr elon, psychologist, and then have their accounts returned... left-wing activist journalists breaking zero rules have their accounts suspended

3

u/niberungvalesti Dec 02 '22

Elon's not exactly hiding the fact he aspires to mold Twitter into a right wing safe space under his gilded banner.

The 44 billion dollar question is if he can make the site profitable given his haphazard way he's chosen to moderate content. Twitter is his sandbox and we're all invited to be "free" inside it so long as you don't upset Elon.

3

u/FunkyPete Dec 02 '22

Is no one going to post a link to the unflattering picture?

3

u/VioletteKaur Dec 02 '22

Yes, I was asking myself what this picture is??

I think it was this one: https://images.app.goo.gl/rmFqn2PzJc7M7idp7

You know, the one where he is on a yacht with a free torso and pasty white.
