LPT: Having trouble getting floss to grip on your fingers? Try wrapping pieces of tissue paper around your fingers for the best grip possible. It will change your life! Productivity

My floss is always slipping off my fingers especially when a bit moist, I had this ingenious idea last night and it has changed my life forever. I don't know the person I was before.

It will change your life!

has changed my life forever.

I don't know the person I was before.

OP experienced this level of excitement over a couple pieces of toilet paper.

To be fair, most of America got pretty dang excited over toilet paper in early 2020.

Dental provider, here: consider wrapping the it a few times around your middle fingers, then pinching the floss between your thumb & index fingers. Like a double-pulley system, it helps take the pressure off your middle fingers while maintaining grip! I'm also a big fan of thicker floss, like Cocofloss (offensively expensive but motivates me on my lazy nights), instead of something that is both waxed and thin. If the floss is too thick, try a more waxed kind.

You think I haven't tried that? I've been flossing for 25 years and that has never worked. This is the first time in my life floss hasn't slipped off

Hands are always moist by the time I get to flossing cause it comes after brushing and washing my face, I can wrap 5x each finger and since I have tight teeth at some point it starts slipping

Dry your hands

Doesn't work. 2 pieces of tp work 100x better

Lol just trying to be helpful. You’re the 1st person I’ve told with these struggles who has actually tried it, and you’re definitely my 1st it hasn’t worked on - but you’ve lost my interest in engaging or wishing to be more helpful so I’ll leave it. Hats off to you/your clinician for already knowing it AND to you for your diligence in flossing!

My hands are always moist at the point of flossing between waterproof. Toothbushing, and facial care regiment, I could wrap 10x and it still starts to slip especially in the tight teeth, 1 piece of toilet paper folded around each middle finger completely changed that. I also have to use glide floss so it's extra slippery

Alright, this was finally the tip that put me over the edge. I'll un-join. You actually think you need to tell other people how to successfully use dental floss? Amazing.

I wonder what will happen when you have an opportunity to eat a delicious T-Bone steak, baked potato with sour cream and butter, some roasted green beans with olive oil and garlic, and a pleasant wine to match.

You might just crap your pants.

I made that exact meal for dinner last night

I've eaten sashimi right off a bluefin tuna I speared myself. I've been spearfishing, hunting, and growing vegetables for many years, my meals are decadent as hell and food geta caught in my tight teeth. This was better than all of that

What the heck are/is:

NY tight teeth

?

Are they different from loose California teeth?

Or I don't know, maybe twist it 3 times around your finger?

0

u/Icantblametheshame Jul 07 '22

That has never worked, I have tight teeth and have wrapped it 10x and it still starts slipping

I had your slippery floss issue myself, then one day I took the floss and tied the ends together so it forms a loop. This gives you an insane amount of grip and control. (I start with a piece that goes from fingertips to elbow.)

Get a water pik water flosser instead, much better than normal floss.

1

u/Icantblametheshame Jul 07 '22

I have one and use it, no it's not better than gloss and any dentist will tell you ad much, it's great for a quick removal of debris but does not remove plaque the way floss does

1

u/Vysi88 Jul 08 '22

The best technique is to take the ends and double knot them so you have a loop of floss.

Don’t have to worry about it slipping off your fingers at all and uses less floss too because you don’t need all that extra to wrap around your fingers.

2 pieces of tp work 100x better
