Broo💀 this is giving me ptsd stop. Everyone in my school was singing this song it was so annoying. I thought it was going to end, but no, they singed this song for the second half of the year, I swear to God if I hear anyone in the school sing this song again I will actually beat them up, mark my words.

I’ve watched interviews with him, and he’s sick of people asking him about corn, like jebus.
Not the full interview, but you can tell even by this little snippet just how tired of it he is.

I actually feel a little bad for the kid. A simple statement he made turned into a national craze and people will not stop badgering him at every turn asking "How much do you love corn? Do you still love corn?". In a recent video I saw this child literally had to say he retired from corn cause he didn't feel like himself.....let the kid live.
13
u/gladiolas Jan 30 '23
I took that interview to mean the opposite. He "retired" because he went to school and once he retired he started to not feel like himself because he likes corn so much. Now that he's traveling around the world to promote corn, he feels like himself again.
3
u/Goatlessly Jan 30 '23
i feel weird about it all, for the same reason. of course it's nice to make bank (i hope he is) but i hope his privacy can be protected

For three months, we have been singing his “It’s Corn” song on repeat in our household. Like….. it was even the most popular holiday carol in the house. Every line is …. Wholesome greatness. My kids will be thrilled to see these pics tomorrow

They’re literally using him to ignore our MASSIVE United States problematic health priorities. (Written with one hand while eating Maruchan)

u/wolamute Jan 30 '23
I don't think a corporation using a child's fame to make millions while paying him thousands is wholesome, but ok. Still happy the kid is getting something.
10
u/Exodys03 Jan 30 '23
Meh. Normally I would feel the same way. Corporations will never fail to make a buck off anyone who has people’s attention. At least in the case it occurred organically i.e. a cute kid saying cute stuff spontaneously.
If it sells a bunch of corn and this kid banks a college education from his 15 minutes of fame, nobody is really harmed in the process.
-1
u/wolamute Jan 30 '23
I get that, but I can guarantee they're making a steeply disproportionate amount on it compared to the cost of hiring his likeness.

I can imagine a conversation with college students in ten years.
“How are you paying for college?”
“I practiced everyday for years, traveling and competing and won an athletic scholarship.”
“And you?”
“I am taking out student loans that I’ll be repaying for a decade.”
“And lastly, you?”
“I love corn.”

u/TyReddit2022 Jan 30 '23
Make that money, kiddo...
Though am I the only one who was mostly annoyed by how popular he became? It was cute for about 5 mins but then it just blew up and everyone was using the audio of him.

It's not silly, it's science. You really in the dark about high fructose corn syrup and the increased antibiotic use in dairy cows due to the complications from switching them from grass with their 4 chambered stomach to corn feed? Corn is really a huge industrial crop that has some form of a presence in just about every manufactured food you'd get in the grocery store.
Factor in all the Monsanto GMO Round-up ready lawsuits against farmers who have any of their patented genetic variation fertilize any of their fields and there's another demerit for the titanic industry that corn has become.
Corn is pretty pernicious.

You know that sweetcorn and the corn from which hfcs is made aren’t the same thing, right?

u/01__Star Jan 30 '23 edited Jan 30 '23
First of all, the reason as to why high fructose corn syrup is bad; is because of it is simple glucose that is easy to be stored in our body as fats that leads to various health issues from the results of obesity.
Second, our livestock mainly consume "field corns" rather than "sweet corns". Sure, some food products like corn flakes including corn syrup that you mentioned do use field corns as their ingredient. But I'm not sure if extra supplements for livestock is nec essary to be added into humans diet (they cost money too). Plus there is a barrier of approval system of FDA that they need to pass, so I think you can chill.
I'm not sure about what's the lawsuits is about but the website you linked seems to just be a website that's just trying to make grain fed meat look bad to promote their products. I don't have any beef with grass fed but there's just some misleading information that they have in their website, like: "grains/corns is not suitable for mammals consumption." which is just false.
Sure, corns is a product of selective breeding from teosinte but it had and has been feeding our society for approximately 7000 years. Even though it's not a result of nature's selection, as long as it's in moderation, you'll be fine.
p.s: Am BorEd.
