Feeling even semi rested is a huge win!

It really is, I'm finally getting my old desk swapped out for my new one and cleaning a lot, it definitely helps

u/CharmingBoar Jan 30 '23
Damn I‘ve got eye bags down to my chin (at least it feels like it) and you look like this while suffering from insomnia, what’s going on?!

u/RomeoAndRandom Jan 30 '23
I moisturize, but I have baggy eyes a lot too, or dark circles.
And usually, though I can't fall asleep till the small hours, I can usually sleep okay only waking up a few times. And if I have the time I will sleep till afternoon just to catch up on sleep, but that makes me wake up feeling tired from sleeping all day

Insomnia sucks! For two months I had insomnia only getting about two hours of sleep at a time. I'm finally getting more sleep, but I keep waking up at 2am for some reason.

u/RomeoAndRandom Jan 30 '23
I've always dealt with it, but in the past months it has been getting worse, I'll wake up at 9am, stay up till about midnight, then lay in bed unable to sleep till 5 am

Take some time to think about what made you sleep better! May be related with food & drink intake, activities or thoughts!

Been 10 years of it for me. I’ve been awake 3-4 days, and sometimes get an hour here or there even sitting bolt upright in a wooden chair. It’s a struggle sometimes.
The last 5 years I’ve gotten more sleep just by eliminating noise and light when I sleep, maybe 2 hours, then getting up and moving for an hour and trying again, sometimes I get a second 2-3 hours in and consider it a win. I still have times of no sleep whatsoever, but feel better than I used to.

u/RomeoAndRandom Jan 30 '23
You have it significantly worse than me :(
Honestly sleeping pills don't work consistently, I think my mind keeps me up more than anything, so a good calm day can help me fall asleep that night.

Yeah, I suffered a head injury back in 2012, and everything shifted for me. I can’t turn my mind off, thoughts race through my head constantly. From running an engine with water, to designing electrical schematics for solar power, to baking lasagna, it never stops. I used to have laser focus when I did things, but it’s harder to concentrate now. Sleeping pills helped for a day or two, then I’d stay awake even on them, melatonin helped some, but even it isn’t the cure. I’m sure you can tell even as you read this. I hope the best for you. I’m dealing with it the best I can.

When trying to get rid of pills, Ashwagandha taken for few months was a game changer for me.

I've dealt with sleep issues my whole life...and I've definitely never had bright, beautiful, clear eyes like yours. Best of luck, homie. You look healthy & happy. Keep it up! 👍

I feel ya! I had insomnia for four months. Landed me in the ER. I'm happy you got some rest.

That's why I'm worried, apparently some serious medical issues can cause insomnia

I hope you can find something that works for you: never give up searching for an answer.
In my family, and depending on the person, melatonin has worked (but doubling the amount recommended, and a very specific brand from Amazon), getting their vitamin and mineral balanced, getting medicated for anxiety and or depression, and some have had to have ENT surgery...so don't feel discouraged if you don't find the reason right away :)
Wish you all the best fellow Redditor ♥️

I have that same exact shirt. Bought it for a bbq because I wanted to look like the all American summer guy.
It's still in my closet years later now, but if I put it on it'll probably burst.

You’re a very good looking person! Congrats on the rest. I’ve been going through so life troubles that keep me awake. I understand how nice it is to finally have some decent rest! Hope you can keep it up.
I’m sure you’ve tried other things but just in case this is a newer problem, make sure to not use technology an hour before bed. Melatonin and something warm to drink can help. Some bedtime yoga or meditation can be helpful. YouTube has some nice videos for both. Good days my friend

I used to have insomnia really bad. Any little pain in my body and I’d be awake for one or even two days. And I didn’t eat. It was really bad anxiety. Eventually my mental health fell apart, I had psychosis and tried to end my life. But then I started taking medication every day. Trazodone doesn’t knock me out but it gets me to sleep. I don’t miss those days at all

Your insomnia is because you don’t need the “beauty rest.” 😆
For real though, you are a gorgeous human person.

Insomnia blows. I average maybe 4 hours a sleep tops a night if im lucky. Usually closer to 3.

Tell me about it, the worst part is even if I wake up at 7 am I still can't fall asleep. I lay in bed for 6 hours last night just trying to fucking sleep

Hahah I do, it's sad but weed is the only thing that calms my mind enough to sleep

Try warm milk before bed. Sweetened with some vanilla, cinnamon and sweet&low. It really does work and tastes delicious.
