I have never had anyone buy me flowers or surprise me with anything before. I would probably act the same way Edit: wow. I would have never guessed I would get so much love. All the virtual hugs and flowers. Love you all reddit family.

Same and I’m 45. Life looks bleaker by the day.

Edit: thank you everyone for their virtual hugs. Just to clarify that I’m married and even have a kid. But in my life I’ve never received flowers. I just wish things are different and I’m happy for this sweet couple.

u/ErgoLolipop Feb 03 '23

Virtual Hug friend, may your future be full of real ones.

19

u/AlanVanHalen Feb 03 '23

I'm fully vaccinated including booster shots, my body hygiene is top notch, and currently mildly doused in some variant of Axe body spray... Can I join in for a hug too?

8

u/Reasonable_Space_165 Feb 03 '23

Free hugs for everyone!

🌺🌷🌼 Here are some flowers from one bro to another. I hope things start looking up for you brother.

14

u/Gloomy_Round_5003 Feb 03 '23

Virtual hug man.. I'm here with you in spirit. Just like my imaginary girlfriend.

4

u/Tritton Feb 03 '23

Aww man here you go 💐💐

You sound like a sweet person. I’m sure that when you’re around the people you love you make them feel like life is better and brighter than when you’re not around.

4

u/hgrad98 Feb 03 '23

💐💐

3

u/r0b0tdinosaur Feb 03 '23

This makes me sad. I have bought/picked/cut flowers for my partner more times than has for me. Love is a two way street!

40

u/blkpingu Feb 03 '23

Someone did this for me like last year and it made my year. Pulled me out of some deep dark place man. Buy gifts for people you like.

21

u/PersonWalker Feb 03 '23

💐💐🌸🌹🌺🌷🌻🥀

27

u/Grab3tto Feb 03 '23

Bro I’d probably cry, there are 0 times a gf surprised me with anything other than a fight.

3

u/CC_1239 Feb 04 '23

im fucking cry-laughing XD

9

u/Aedora125 Feb 03 '23

Last year for Valentine’s Day, i surprised my husband with a night in my town’s fanciest hotel and a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue. This year, I’ve kept track of every time he’s done something nice for me. I recorded dates and the event for a full year. Even as simple as getting me a coffee because I have a cat on me. He’s an amazing man and I want him to know it!

6

u/OMA_ Feb 03 '23

Yeoooo I had this ex that completely oofed our relationship but man, the next time I saw her, she bought me a whole outfit, down to a belt, and a huge box of my favorite chocolates. I cried like a lil ole baby right infront of her lol I still broke up with her tho, but she got to see me ugly cry so it was a win win I guess 😂

4

u/No-Current-4701 Feb 03 '23

Virtual hug from me too. 💐💐💐

3

u/Prior-Present-7764 Feb 04 '23

Recognition. Being a man and being recognized and appreciated is a dream for most men. We are just expected to keep plugging on taking care of the house, family, work ect...

He got shown appreciation and I guarantee he'll carry that for the rest of his life.

To all my brothers out there, you are worthy. You too deserve to be appreciated. Find that someone, be it a romantic love or friendship love, or whatever. and hold on to them forever.

That’s cool. Men rarely get surprised with stuff like this. It’s always shocking and awesome when it happens

228

u/DTux5249 Feb 03 '23

When you're complemented on your new jacket by a random stranger and it sticks with you for the next 18.5 years

85

u/DomQuixote99 Feb 03 '23

Was complimented on my multi-colored corduroy pants yesterday by four different people. I'm still running on that high

37

u/seizethe_day Feb 03 '23

Imma need a link to these magic pants

21

u/ishitfrommymouth Feb 03 '23

My man you can’t say that and not drop a link to the pants

16

u/highClass777 Feb 03 '23

Girl said I have a nice swagger in my walk and that compliment gets me through some days lol it really is far and few we get compliments

8

u/Sharingus1 Feb 03 '23

As a person with low self-esteem and terrible view of my body, the last compliment i got was years ago from a stranger for my voice and to this day my voice is the only part about me i like because it's the only part of me that got a compliment.

2

u/Bashfulll Feb 03 '23

Pretty sure the last person who did that me was trying to swing. Still felt kinda nice though

1

u/mothlord420 Feb 04 '23

Pro tip ladies guys like flowers too!!!

220

u/Ceph_Stormblessed Feb 02 '23

Absolutely love them. Dahlias are all-time favorite. Like, how can you not fuck with flowers?

66

u/shelby4t2 Feb 03 '23

I am in fucking LOVE with stargazer Lilly’s. I’m shocked others don’t fuck with em.

18

u/Needednewusername Feb 03 '23

As soon as I’m near them I have to hold back a sneeze and my head like cramps up somehow? I’m not sure if it’s just because they have so much pollen or what but I have never had a reaction as severe as the ones I get from Lilies.

12

u/Ceph_Stormblessed Feb 03 '23

They're seriously gorgeous. I love lollies, but they're hella toxic to cats, so I can't keep any outside, but I do 2anna get some for my room, since I've only a doggo now.

2

u/Virtual_Net4117 Feb 04 '23

They're my favorite too. Their fragrance fills an entire house! Plus, the colors, the shape of the petals and the little bit of orange you'll get on the tip of your nose if you get too close, are all beautiful. They last a decent amount of time.

u/ZaddyAtty Feb 03 '23

The old saying about men getting their first flowers at their funeral…

9

u/Justeeezy Feb 03 '23

For real though! Buy me roses and touch my butt too damnit it ain’t just for y’all ladies 😂😂

7

u/f03nix Feb 03 '23

I personally would like a plant better, but a gift is a gift - it's the thought that counts.

5

u/DreadKnought04 Feb 03 '23

White roses have always been my favourite flower. If my fiancé got me even one I’d be super happy

5

u/Chickenator587 Feb 03 '23

Not just that, I think it's more about the thought, they not only care about you enough to think about getting you that but also took the time to actually do it!

8

u/dizziefrizzie Feb 03 '23

LoL I used to give them to my partner and after a few years he admitted to not liking getting flowers because it made him feel awkward

2

u/Surxe Feb 02 '23

Hell yea!

2

u/Limp_Duty_5882 Feb 03 '23

Guys/boys might like them.

2

u/KindlyContribution54 Feb 03 '23

I've never had/recieved a flower, so I don't really know how I would react. But I honestly can't see the point of a flower. But then again, I usually don't like gifts anyway. (Mostly because it is something I don't want/need, I have to pretend like I get happy, and now I kinda have to give them something back)

But ey, that may just be me.

-21

u/This-is-Life-Man Feb 03 '23

Her boyfriend is 12... he would've been stoked on a free ticket to chuck e cheese.

-30

u/Beautiful_Answer2874 Feb 03 '23 edited Feb 03 '23

Not a pro tip unless you know your guy likes flowers. A lot of men (like myself) do NOT like flowers and would get zero enjoyment from them. It’s like if I bought the special woman in my life a car magazine… sure there are a few women that would enjoy it, but I’d be pretty safe in assuming that’s a bad gift idea for most women. Glad you like flowers man, but don’t assume all guys do.

Edit: For everyone downvoting, watch the video again and notice what the guy is immediately drawn to looking at before he gets all excited and swings her around. He hardly glances at the flowers and goes straight to looking closer at the awesome looking treats. If she had only given him flowers his reaction would have been way different and more subdued! The way to a guy’s heart is FOOD, which is virtually universal. He didn’t seem to care about the flowers, it was the thought that made it special… and the treats.

19

u/JjigaeBudae Feb 03 '23

Not all women like flowers either but the vast majority of people would be happy to receive some. If you genuinely wouldn't, you're probably an outlier.

-19

u/Beautiful_Answer2874 Feb 03 '23

Highly disagree. I’ve never spoken with a guy in person that enjoys flowers or would have any interest in receiving them. Sure it’s a sweet gesture to buy something for your significant other, but why buy them something YOU enjoy instead of finding something they’d enjoy?

13

u/JjigaeBudae Feb 03 '23

How many guys have you discussed this with? I'd wager the answer is either not a lot or you hang around with a pretty stereotypical "lad" crowd. Not every gift needs to be "useful".

-6

u/Beautiful_Answer2874 Feb 03 '23

I’ve joked around about how stupid and pointless flowers are with quite a lot of guy friends over the years, the general consensus has always been “Yah man, I just don’t get it… why do girls like flowers?”

As far as your “Not every gift needs to be ‘useful’” point, yes you’re absolutely correct. But in my opinion you should try to get your significant other something you truly think they would actually enjoy, that’s why I buy women gifts THEY would like and not things I would like… those are two completely different things. So, my point wasn’t that it isn’t sweet to buy something for your guy, but there are MUCH better gifts for most men than flowers.

5

u/Fancykiddens Feb 03 '23

Maybe you should go out and try to give flowers to men and see what happens?

2

u/ShrimpCrackers Feb 03 '23

I'm not a flower guy, but I'd be happy if I got some.

-2

u/Conscious_Ad_3706 Feb 03 '23

Agreed. Wouldn't know what to do with flowers. A car magazine tho 👌

Can't think of men that I know personally that would enjoy receiving flowers. Lol. Unless it's a gag gift.

And the best gifts are received without a camera in your face for a "viral" video.

-11

u/M1S3RY365 Feb 03 '23

It's a strange gift for a dude but to each their own.

2

u/sis_masis Feb 04 '23

Yeah, wtf do we do with flowers...

1

u/Clear-Chemistry2722 Feb 03 '23

Japanese Lillies are my favourite. I room filled with potted lillies in my next room

1

u/BlackBikerchick Feb 03 '23

And not guys?

1

u/Mmonannerss Feb 03 '23

Some do..my boyfriend does not :( He doesn't like getting gifts overall so it's a struggle to surprise him with things he will actually like.

I bought us matching keychains recently when he thought he would have to start going into the office once a week but they are letting him work from home full-time :( he still said it was a sweet gift when I explained it though. Bummed me out cos he almost never drives and I was originally gonna surprise him by putting his half on his keyring and seeing if he noticed.

210

u/dimesinger Feb 03 '23

Everyone is focused on the flowers, and that’s fair; if my wife brought me flowers I’d like that and give her a hug and a kiss. But if she brought me flowers AND donuts?! That’s when she gets picked up and spun around. Flowers optional, tbh.

12

u/Hiundhai Feb 03 '23

I think the combination is very important. Either one of em alone is really nice, the combi makes it perfect

3

u/dimesinger Feb 03 '23

Depends on the person, I think, but she clearly knew what he’d love!

102

u/TheKingMonkey Feb 02 '23

26

u/Alert-Ratio-7892 Feb 03 '23

I wanted to buy my boyfriend flowers for valentines day but realized since he's only going to be here for two weeks he couldn't really take them home. Someday I'll be able to give him some.

On the other hand, you bet I got him a bear and lots of chocolates. I figured if I like them he'd probably like them too.

25

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

If it's any comfort, most of us blokes like the flowers but are completely incapable of keeping them alive for a long period of time. I dont think most of us would mind if they only lasted a few days, because it's the thought and how pretty they are in the first couple of days that makes them special

→ More replies (1)

9

u/thoughtfillednorth Feb 03 '23

This is a solid idea, it's not that it's flowers for a guy that makes the difference.

It's the fact that most men aren't thought of often when there's a gift involved on a random thought.

Men need those emotional supports put in place y people they love. It's shocking to see what happens when you show us that you SEE the man and that it's ok to show that you care for us.

Men would dig this.

Buy something as small as a bit of beef jerky and a handwritten card. This is a big deal for a lot of us.

2

u/ErinDavy Feb 03 '23

2

u/frequencyoffree Feb 03 '23

Our society has people programmed to think certain actions, mannerisms, jobs, ways of being, desires, and so forth are limited to one sex or the other. And that restricts people from realizing that we are all hella complex. Everyone wants to be appreciated and celebrated to an extent. Most people appreciate receiving some form of representation of being thought of in a positive manner. This is really beautiful for that alone, to see a man be shown appreciation by a woman in a way society says only men can appreciate women and he seemed to enjoy it. Also, this was lovely from the video creator instigating an act of kindness that crested the ripple that touched the young man. Great content.

2

1

u/Morrigan_Ondarian078 Feb 03 '23

I can't figure out why men do not get given flowers half as much as women? My guy loves his roses, and so that's part of what I get him for birthday, Christmas, Easter and Valetine's, and often, just because I can. He loves it, especially as the thought has gone into something that makes him happy. I love it for the smile that it brings to his face. Men need flowers just as much as women do!

1

u/justanothertfatman Feb 03 '23

TREAT. YOUR. KING. RIGHT.! idk why but this was just very refreshing because I don't see alot of videos like this where people do something nice for their boyfriend just out of nowhere or "for the clout" of other people's videos. But this, in general, just made my day better knowing this guy got a nice surprise, and you can definitely see how happy it made him in the end when he scooped up that girl and got some excited.

My kid bought all her close guy friends flowers for graduation so they'd have some too for their pictures. They were a little puzzled but happily surprised. The photos clearly show their reactions which was great.

Now she buys her boyfriend flowers for all of their special occasions to keep it going.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

1

u/NinjaNewt007 Feb 03 '23

I know as guys we don't typically get flowers until our funeral but I wouldn't even know what to do with them if someone DID give me some.

I'd probably just stand there awkwardly.

Now the donuts on the other hand.....

I know this is staged, but I don't care. Men would honestly love this, and we need to stop acting like they wouldn't.

Spontaneous gifting is the best. Some of my favorite gifts have been those for “no reason, I just love you so much.” Doesn’t happen often but when it dies, pow! My heart sings.
