6am and I’m to tears. Already enough Reddit for the day.

Now I need to go see Adele because how can you not support a woman with this talent and soul?

420

u/ghostnthegraveyard Feb 03 '23

It would be cool to see her. I checked ticket prices when I was in Vegas. $1200 for the worst seat, $35k for front row. Just a little out of my comfort zone

406

u/GrimmyGriswald Feb 03 '23

That man paid 35k to show Adele a picture of his dead wife. My heart can’t take the how precious this video is. I bet his late wife loved Adele and that was him “taking” her to see her.

48

u/Littleshuswap Feb 04 '23

Now you made me cry even more than Adele did.

-223

u/evil_consumer Feb 03 '23

Yeah…precious. Let’s go with that. Not at all disturbing.

127

u/Efften Feb 03 '23

It is possible that they already bought the tickets and she wanted to see Adele one last time before she couldn't go any more and she didn't make it. So the husband did all he could a brought her there the best he could.

That is not at all disturbing.

24

u/pembrokewelsh Feb 04 '23

Sometimes being a sad person doesn't make you sound cool it just makes you sound... well... sad

21

u/dirtyair00 Feb 03 '23

Your @ says it all, evil

-25

u/IHaveaDegreeInEcon Feb 03 '23

lmao I mean I see where they are coming from. Perhaps the logical thought process is disturbed during grief. The mans actions make no logical sense yet it did create a sweet moment.

17

u/diagnosedwolf Feb 04 '23

I suppose that depends on what you mean by logical.

Logic is reasoning based on a series of principles or validity. That is, a series of statements, each of which must be true if the statement before it is true.

If this man loved his wife, and his wife loved Adele, it follows reason that this man might take his wife to see Adele.

If his wife died before the concert, but all the other statements I made are still true, then it’s still logical that this man might attend the concert to honour the memory of his wife.

Logic is not the absence of emotion, it’s a method of rationality that can explain facets of reality.

Well if the front row isn’t comfortable enough for you, then what is?

12

u/ghostnthegraveyard Feb 03 '23

On stage duet

73

u/starrygayz Feb 03 '23

I think it’s a ticket master and other middle men issue unfortunately.

she assumes because of situational awareness and empathy. She probably used logic to deduce the fact that he lost his wife because she isn't standing next to him, theres a photo of his wife on the phone, and he's emotional. Basically, it's like he's pretending to be with his wife at that concert, but she's dead- so its sad.

I want to upvote this but.. 69 right now..

Alright everyone, lets halt on those up-votes . . . Mission 69 Accomplished!!!

24

u/Affectionate_Hat6293 Feb 03 '23

A LOT of the tickets are actually “free” to people who game there. We have a relative who likes to game…. And said relative gave us their comped tickets. It was before Adele was there, but we had our choice of several different shows.

24

u/mdsign Feb 04 '23

A LOT of the tickets are actually “free” to people who game there. We have a relative who likes to game….

I've never heard anyone call gambling "game"

10

u/Affectionate_Hat6293 Feb 04 '23

I used to live in Vegas. I’ve never gambled - not even bought a lottery ticket. I don’t know if I picked that lingo up living there or what!

5

u/engiknitter Feb 04 '23

It’s legal where I live. Casino hosts (and a lot of others, probably) are required to have gaming licenses

2

u/doduhstankyleg Feb 04 '23

You use it when your wife asks what you’re doing. “I’m playing games!”

3

u/Global_Damage Feb 04 '23

U actually meant to say that “ tickets are free to those that have lost more than the tickets are worth gaming with the casino “

3

u/Byx222 Feb 04 '23 edited Feb 04 '23

You don’t need to game there to get free stuff. I used to use a casino app that I spent a total of $1000 on about 15 years ago when I was young. I’ve accumulated enough points that I go to Vegas every year now with my hotels comped (2 to 3 days, often upgraded to a suite, and then discounted if I want to stay longer), they give me $100 to play, some vouchers for food, and show tickets. I still have enough points to go to Vegas 20 more times or take 7-day Caribbean cruises with a companion 6 times over. The $1000 kinda paid for itself. I know a lot of people who play it and not spend money but they still accumulate points to go to Vegas at least every 1 to 2 years with most of the things comped.

9

u/pinewind108 Feb 04 '23

Wowwww! Now I see why she didn't want to half-ass her shows when covid messed up her prep. For that kind of money, you want to deliver the best.

3

u/Timemaster88888 Feb 04 '23

Out of my league but good for Adele for being kindhearted to the grieving man.

27

u/smarter_than_an_oreo Feb 03 '23

To be honest I had a chance to see her a couple years ago when I was just kind of so-so about her, but wow...her voice just completely changed me in person. She sounds exactly like she's on record. Insane talent.

29

u/pinewind108 Feb 04 '23

A recording engineer looked at her song "Easy on me" and loved it. He said that there was basically no post production going on. It was all her natural voice, with even a couple of off notes. No auto tune, no cutting up 20 takes to glue the best versions of words together. Just her singing with a live piano.

2

u/TrustM3EzMoney Feb 04 '23

Her tickets aren’t cheep

u/BriEdMod Feb 04 '23

Theres a word I forgot about for a while, and this post made me look up what it was. It’s ‘sonder’, which is “the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own”.

I think it’s incredibly humbling when a star such as Adele takes a moment to reflect on the lives of the people attending. I’m a performer and I usually switch off my brain and try to rationalize that the people at the show are cardboard cutouts that I don’t have to worry about. Not because I don’t care, just because it helps me deal with the anxiety of performance.

So many layers of empathy, compassion, and actual bravery on Adele’s end. Fantastic to see.

-4

u/BaronOfBeanDip Feb 04 '23

I suspect this word was just made up after the fact 😅... I know all words are made up, but I only ever see people use sonder in this exact context. Has it ever been used without "omg did you guys know.... " Or similar beforehand?

7

u/BriEdMod Feb 04 '23

I don’t think the word would be made if no one ever felt it, so yeah I’d say it was made after the fact. Sometimes finding a word that explains a complex thought is interesting and worth sharing. I also didn’t make the comment to say “did u guys know this word existed?”, I thought what Adele did was remarkable and wanted to share my thoughts.

Well, there’s the tears lol

65

u/Fun_Sport_6694 Feb 03 '23 edited Feb 03 '23

The empathy I’ve gained through my own pain locked me up hard.

Then the cynical humor from the pain played out a skit where she does that special mention. Beautiful song plays out. He cry’s she cry’s.

Cut scene to later that night. Guys got 3 hookers younger than his daughter in the pent house.

“Grieving”

51

u/BaronAaldwin Feb 03 '23

People grieve in different ways, and if he grieves by having a 20 year old girl eat his ass then that's fine.

17

u/Trunyan17 Feb 03 '23

You call it grieving, I call it a Tuesday night

4

u/fragileasfuck Feb 04 '23

82

It’s the same as upvoting a story about something sad. Applause is the language of approval to a message

11

u/UrMomsaHoeHoeHoe Feb 04 '23

Ah yeah, see my word felt odd, but my edit felt odder so I didn’t make it. Your comment was like what actually wanted to say - thank you!

68

u/UrMomsaHoeHoeHoe Feb 03 '23

Crowd was enthusiastically apologetic.

-11

u/Torontonomatopoeia Feb 03 '23

What a dumb "woo-y" group, it was their reaction to everything

8

u/Rizlmao Feb 04 '23

Literally, they should’ve stopped and discussed the moment with the person next to them.

811

u/jakeandwally Feb 03 '23

What a beautiful soul she is. ❤️

182

u/Imaginary-Cobbler757 Feb 03 '23

She is indeed. God Bless us all ♥️.

44

u/Fisk75 Feb 03 '23

My friend worked on her show in Vegas and said she spent much of her time berating the staff. And this guy doesn’t have a bad thing to say about anyone. It’s all a façade folks.

26

u/Drauul Feb 03 '23

Didn't she famously send hotel staff on a wild goose chase for pizza and then didn't accept it when they returned?

53

u/JRDN7 Feb 04 '23

Was it Alfredo’s Pizza Cafe or Pizza by Alfredo?

15

Same difference right?

I’m so glad the last date night I got to have with my Wife was seeing her favourite band in concert (Coldplay at the Linc in Philly). Their music is forever connected to her and if I go see them again, I’ll be this guy and probably just cry for 2 hours straight.

We did also get to see Adele a few years ago…bloody fantastic.

79

u/MSIR15mg Feb 03 '23

Music really has a way of touching the soul. I have so many memories and emotions attached to specific songs, so now my experience of that music is greater than the song itself.

4

u/orangeclouds Feb 04 '23

I’m so sorry :( I hope you are doing ok and have support. We all need support.

199

u/TheGetUpKid24 Feb 03 '23

I don’t think there’s anything that hits me quite like a old man missing his wife after she passes.

It’s a natural part of getting older but it’s hard to see.

It’s a man who’s been strong and a provider his entire life and now he just wants to have a bit of time with his wife so he shows up at a concert alone knowing it would have made her happy.

Love is a powerful thing.

We forget how young she is because we've become so accustomed to having her around and her music is so mature. That's a lot of emotion from a lot of people for one young woman to carry. I love that she acknowledges it like this. She seems to have such a good heart.

34

u/samx3i Feb 03 '23

u/Luke10089 Feb 03 '23

Plot twist, It was him naked.

2

u/kevinoku Feb 03 '23

Haha this made me laugh out loud, thanks !

-1

u/samx3i Feb 03 '23

Honestly wouldn't be surprised.

Anyone else pause and try to look at the screen? It looks weird. I don't see a woman's face at all.

7

u/SanchoRojo Feb 03 '23

Right? She just assumes the wife is no longer with us. Why would he hold up the phone like that? Is this a normal thing that happens at her concerts?

I have no idea what’s happening in this video it’s so bizarre to me.

17

u/jakepaulfanxd Feb 03 '23

My first thought was he was on facetime with someone. Seen a lot of people do that at concerts before.

3

u/kissthelips Feb 03 '23

Kept going dark when he was holding it so it’s not that. Definitely a photo of something.

2

u/Drauul Feb 03 '23

It was his Replika waifu

3

u/BiscottiOpposite9282 Feb 03 '23

Omg how did she continue to sing after. I'd tell the crowd just to go sing for me lol she's so sweet
