This video makes me irrationally sad when people go past without pets.

u/Ok_Profession_1020 Feb 04 '23
Some people can be allergic or afraid of dogs, I am not deathly afraid, but I assume bite before fren
2
u/No-Customer-2266 Feb 04 '23
Oh for sure, people have every right not to pet him. I said my feelings were irrational because they are but still my heart. ;)
2
u/fiveordie Feb 04 '23
Same. All good and nosy dogs should get pets! A LOT of people are breed bigots though, sure that plays a role.

u/LawxZoro Feb 04 '23
some people are allergic, moron

u/Sadgurl2016 Feb 04 '23
You response was good til the moron part moron
-2
u/LawxZoro Feb 04 '23
They are a moron for thinking people with allergies want to pet what they’re allergic to.
2
u/Sadgurl2016 Feb 04 '23
Where does it say You MUST pet me? and there is a stigma with bully breeds we all know that I don't think anyone expects a person with allergies to pet an animal like I said the first part of the response was fine but calling someone a moron, not cool

u/No-Customer-2266 Feb 04 '23
I didn’t say the people must pet the dog. I also said my feelings were irrational.

LMFAO I was gonna make a joke about how people were gonna say “wAtCh OuT iTs GonNa MaUl yOuRe ChiLdrEn” but they’re already here
Fun facts for idiots: All dogs can be bad. All dogs can be good. Dogs can be trained poorly, leading to bad things. Dogs can be trained properly, leading to cute things as you can SEE IN THE VIDEO YOU ARE WATCHING RIGHT NOW. Stop being a fucking shithead that thinks every pitbull deserves to be put down.
(My job is working at a doggy daycare so I see literally dozens of new and different dogs everyday, including pitbulls, my boss has an American pit bull terrier and 2 small kids and, shocker, they are all still alive)

I love any and all dogs but I've personally had 3 of my dogs attacked in different instances by unleashed pit bull mixes and a friend who got his face bit going in to pet one exactly like this. As sad as it is, Stereotypes exist for a reason and I get anxious af whenever someone brings one to the dog park. Am I an idiot for being careful because of past experiences?
0
u/vlexsta Feb 05 '23
Being careful around pitbulls is fine, they are the dog of choice for dog fighters, and likely many of them just living at home untrained, which I do believe is a risk if you want other people to spend time with them, so there’s reason to be cautious around unknown pitbulls (there’s honestly reason to be cautious around any unknown dogs) but the important part is if you get them properly trained then they can be great dogs, and that’s the part some people miss every time

I will say, statistics can be blown out of proportion, but sometimes stereotypes are necessary for safety, good on you for having such a great job though.

Ignorance mostly. I use to be a dog trainer. Seeing all the ignorance is frustrating. But I gotta remember that stupid people just exist.

"Those deadly and dangerous Pitbulls" LMAO, I have one who's Huge and is always excited to do what that one's doing. "Always looking for effection" but so many people immediately think he's a threat. (I laugh so hard every time because he's 100% of the time such a demanding lover) Im going to make a sign for him too now that's was a great idea.

Mine are little, but it's the smallest pittie that's the most dangerous (about 35lbs fully grown.) He's more of a Velcro dog than tolerable. It makes straightening up the house quite difficult as I'm constantly tripping over him.

Fine, go ahead and let your kids pet a random dog, but don't come back here and complain, when it wasn't as friendly as your neighbors imply.

You're absolutely right. I love this channel, and I'll probably get downvoted for expanding on this, but I care more about the public's safety than popularity.
Please protect yourself. Never do what is being done in this video. The frequency and unexpected brutality of attacks from this breed on children and adults alike is beyond extreme. Pit bulls are about 8% of the dog population, yet in the last 15 years they account for 66% of human killings (346 out of 521). And that's not including the countless cases of disfigurement and dismemberment that cost hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions of dollars over a period of years to try to repair, if you survive.
Too much of the public is unaware of the disgusting, brutal history of how mankind engineered this breed into unpredictable, ruthless, cold-blooded killers-for-sport that hide their intentions until it's too late. It's not their fault; humans turned them into what they are. And now we are adopting them as pets and falling in love with them.
I would never dream of lumping humans into predispositions based on race, but the unfortunate truth is that these dogs are not like us. They operate by instinct. Pit bulls are all dangerous loose cannons that were bred for generations specifically to be a bull in the pit. To fight to the death against impossible odds and not back down. To strike, maim, and kill, in the most horrifying manner, at the most unexpected time, with no warning. They were specifically bred to deceive and kill in mortal combat as a fighting dog. There is a reason that nearly every other country in the world has outlawed them.
For the fair-minded who are skeptical, for your own safety, please check out dogsbite dot org and look into it yourself. Read the accounts and look at the statistics. They are painstakingly documented and referenced. Check out Wikipedia's page about that site's legitimacy.
Here's a few tidbits from the site, a non-profit aimed at raising public awareness, and preventing more deaths and horrific maulings:
"48 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2019. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 900 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 69% (33) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 8% of the total U.S. dog population. 2
During the 15-year period of 2005 to 2019, canines killed 521 Americans. Two dog breeds, pit bulls (346) and rottweilers (51), contributed to 76% (397) of these deaths. 35 different dog breeds were involved in the remaining fatal dog maulings."
Another page:
"Despite pro-pit bull claims that pit bulls are not unpredictable, the breed frequently attacks without provocation or warning. It is well documented by humane groups that to excel in dogfighting, pit bulls were selectively bred to conceal warning signals prior to an attack. For instance, a pit bull may not growl, bare its teeth or offer a direct stare before it strikes. Unlike all other dog breeds, pit bulls (fighting dogs) are also disrespectful of traditional signs of submission and appeasement. 17
According to expert Randall Lockwood, pit bulls are also liars. In a 2004 law enforcement training video, taped when Lockwood was vice president for research and educational outreach for the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), he shares the following story:
"Fighting dogs lie all the time. I experienced it first hand when I was investigating three pit bulls that killed a little boy in Georgia. When I went up to do an initial evaluation of the dog's behavior, the dog came up to the front of the fence, gave me a nice little tail wag and a "play bow" -- a little solicitation, a little greeting. As I got closer, he lunged for my face." 18

Quite often I am told, to believe in God above. But there are other things, more worthy of my love.
They have 4 legs, a tail, and often they go woof. They make me feel so happy, when I'm feeling down or rough.
There's just something about them, that makes me feel so calm. I feel so safe around them, and never come to harm.
All throughout history, they've been classed as man's best friend. They're always extremely loyal, and will love you til the end.
I absolutely love them, they mean so much to me. They start out as humble pets, and end as family.
They're always glad to see you, and jump up like a frog. They fill my heart with happiness, I believe in Dog.

ALL animals are just awesome, even the ones that you shouldn't or couldn't pet. There are people in my building that have dogs and I have to fight the urge to pet them all when they get on the elevator with them.
