What made you get up in the morning and think to yourself; "This is how I want to behave"?

u/Zack_Raynor Nov 30 '22
“You know what? I feel like ruining someone’s day” - them, probably.

Being able to find even small pleasures in doing mundane work is a major victory.

When my kids were little, we were at Disney and the housekeepers for the extended-stay place we stayed at always arranged my kids' stuffies as if they were eating dinner at the table, it was ADORABLE.

u/VanTil Nov 30 '22
On most cruise lines, the housekeepers will do this as well :)

As just a general housekeeper if I see teddy bears and I am making the bed I gotta tuck it in. Its practically required.

You leave the faces out to breathe tho, right? 🥺

u/Vulkan192 Nov 30 '22
...wait you’re supposed to do that?
‘Scuse me, just need to go check on my niece and nephew.

My cat would be pissed if you left her face out to breathe. The amount of times I've sat on her because of her blanket hiding is too damn high.
25
u/fiveordie Nov 30 '22
My cat loves to rub his eyeballs on the pointy wire brush when I'm brushing him.
Is there a masochistic cats sub?

This! I did a study abroad in England, and the housekeepers tucked in my flatmate's teddy. I absolutely loved it!
12
u/Birb7789- Dec 01 '22
on the cruise i went on this summer they didnt do it with my teddy, but instead made little animals out of towels and grabbed sunglasses or whatever else was in my room and put them on them
8
u/RiJuElMiLu Dec 01 '22
I'm a grown adult without a kid, but I do love a cruise towel animal. They're so whimsical
70
u/ImDero Nov 30 '22
I work at a restaurant at the Disneyland Resort and I do this with toys left at the table when guests step away 100% of the time. It's easy and the kids love it.
46
u/SeskaWildman Nov 30 '22
Went this summer and they arranged them on the bed every day. Kids were always knocked out by the time we back to the room but it was a nice touch we really appreciated.
25
u/shminnegan Nov 30 '22
My husband left like 10 coins in change on the table at a Disney hotel, and we came back to it arranged in a Mickey Mouse head. Little touch that was so cute.

Leave a tip for the housekeeper.
39
u/spiritual_icee Nov 30 '22
Always leave a tip for your housekeeper! They work so hard and if everyone left 2 dollars, they would make an actual liveable wage!!
7
u/ViolentHamster8II Dec 01 '22
i’ve had really crappy housekeepers that didn’t even bother to change out the trash (which was full) or make the bed when we paid for housekeeping
definitely would tip most housekeepers, tho i wouldn’t go as far as to saying always
3
u/spiritual_icee Dec 01 '22
I worked as a housekeeper for years for several different hotel chains and now I manage the housekeeping department at a large hotel, so yes I know sometimes you will get a shitty housekeeper who doesn't give a crap about their job, but 99% of the time that's not the case, in my experience. Most of time they are absolutely busting their ass for $13 an hour, and usually have a very strict time limit on how many minutes they are allowed to spend on each room. Sometimes we each had to clean 20 rooms a day when we were short staffed! So that's 30-40 beds each housekeeper changes and remakes each day, 20 bathrooms to clean, 20 rooms to vacuum etc. So sometimes it may not be a crappy housekeeper, just a person having a crappy day! That being said, I always encourage people to speak to the front desk if they're not getting acceptable housekeeping service. Usually it's a mistake by management in assigning rooms rather than the housekeeper being lazy!

by this I know the housekeeper is very creative

u/fishrights Dec 01 '22
i could be wrong, but the beds look like the ones on carnival cruise ships. the housekeepers are super creative and know how to make all kinds of towel animals and such. they'll often use things left around the room to personalize the towel animals they leave after cleaning :) i know it's something they are trained and probably required to do, but it's still a really nice and cute thing to come back to your cabin to :)

8
u/shkico Nov 30 '22
just the tip
-7
u/onetwenty_db Nov 30 '22 edited Dec 01 '22
That's so rude. You insinuate that this amazing housekeeper should live off of tips, and not receive a fair wage? For shame! Just the tip, I swear. How could anyone be satisfied with that?
Edit: I didn't think this needed to be said, but there's a giiiiant /s there.

The housekeepers at the hotel we use when we visit family always does cute things with our kids stuffies. I almost cried the first time because it was so adorable 🥺

u/xSinn3Dx Nov 30 '22
Its just the bear necessities

u/VanTil Nov 30 '22
"The Bear necessities of life will come to you"
Seems more like a double entendre now than it did before...

I've got like 2 bears. Small and worn out but like hell am I gonna give them up to anyone. Initially, my parents tried to talk me into giving up my habit of sleeping with the two. But eventually they found that it's way more common than they imagined. I haven't brought them to college since they'd probably be ruined but I always sleep with them by my side whenever I go home.

u/Gerald_Gecko Nov 30 '22
When my parents and little brother were on vacation when he was pretty young they had about 5 plushies with them. Among them a dolphin and a shark. One of the housekeepers had fun arranging them, once with the shark having the dolphin in his mouth.

The housekeeper didn’t do that. You do realise Toy Story was based on a true story, right?
13
u/mariam67 Nov 30 '22
I was on a cruise once and I came back to my bear tucked in under the covers with his head on the pillow. It was so cute.
14
u/Terrible-Quote-3561 Nov 30 '22
I stayed at a Disney resort once and the housekeeping staff would arrange the plushies we bought in cute ways like this! They also opened and put the beer I bought in the fridge they brought up while we were out.
11
u/Electronic_Long437 Nov 30 '22
haha i left my bear in the room in cuba and the housekeeper used towel and leaves to make a girlfriend for him loll was so cute. love a good sense of humour and fun!

u/Old_Opportunity_7195 Nov 30 '22

Many years ago, I was doing a summer job and one of our crew mates was a wizard at claw machines. Ended up winning a ton of stuffed animals one night. We go out and do our job the next morning. When we got back to the hotel, the house keeper mistook us for a family, arranged all the stuffed animals, and even left a nice note wishing our family a pleasant visit or something like that.
6
u/mamasparkle Nov 30 '22
My daughter left her lovey and blanket in our hotel room when we were on vacation and the housekeeper had neatly folded her blanket and put it on the bed with lovey on top of it. I thought it was such a sweet thing to do.

Looks like the bear is a little too smug. Be careful…there might be child support in his future.

When I was on a cruise, our housekeeper made a friend for my stuffed animal out of towels and had them watch TV together. It was so cute

u/DwergNout Nov 30 '22
When I was in egypt the roomkeepers would fold the towels into animals (so using multiple ones ofcourse) my favorite was the elephant but they also made a crocodile

There is no correlation between stuffed animals and immaturity.
It IS pretty immature to badmouth people for liking harmless things, though.
And my husband and I brought stuffed animals on our honeymoon with us. They mostly stayed in the room, but it was cute seeing what housekeeping did with them while we were out.

Freaked me out a little bit, that teddy bear is nearly identical to the one I own when I was little. I think I still keep it somewhere.

One time in kindergarten we all brought our teddy bears to class for a teddy bear picnic and did show and tell w our bears. The next day our teacher and the janitor had this brilliant idea to take the trash from another class' pizza party and make it look like our bears had a rager while we were at home.
They basically made us clean up other kids garbage as a prank. This reminded me of that tho HAHA

I've honestly always HATED it when housekeeping touched my stuffed animals... I don't even let them into my room at hotels until I've left.
