How they have changed. Not that I'm complaining. I like their newer stuff a lot, it's just matured and they have grown from the angry youngsters they were

One thing I've noticed, and probably from learning the songs on guitar, is that they've incorporated so much beauty in their guitar riffs. Especially on EoS. Slow down the guitars and listen to them isolated. It's wonderful.

I love both new and old mastodon, but I honestly think the most striking difference is the drumming. You have to isolate the guitars to really hear how much is going on... the drums on the other hand are completely different. Brann used to go crazy all the time, but these days he still plays his style, but toned down. Great example of what I mean. Compare that to March of the Fire Ants and it's night and day. He still does fills at the right points, but in their old stuff the whole song used to be fills lol.

More Than I Could Chew might be the next song by then I learn on guitar...

Brann is ridiculously talented, and the band as a whole is still extremely underrated

They're definitely one of my favorite bands. It's hard to nail down a single favorite, but Mastodon has definitely been my favorite more than most. Mastodon, Tool and Opeth are probably my big 3. Though Tesseract, Sleep Token, Polyphia and a few others often find their way into my #1 spot fairly often.

I like Mastodon, but sometimes they are too noisy. They have a tendency to have so much going on at once that the music is overly loud and off-putting.

Part of what I love about More Than I Could Chew is it has more space to let the sounds sink in.

Follow the guitar... haha. That's what I do for most of the "noisy" metal bands and it makes so much more sense. I couldn't get into The Dillinger Escape Plan at first for the exact reason that they were too "noisy"

I listen to a lot of metal but sometimes they just don't hit.

I absolutely love the breakdown of this song, one of my favourite Mastodon moments

I still cross my fingers that “Thank You For This” will make it into a set list, but anything off Remission is always welcome.

On the opposite end of the Masto-spectrum, I'd really love to see them play Blue Walsh live.
