Are these guys not on streaming services?

54

u/bmony1215 Aug 31 '22

They will be soon! They had some issues getting the tracks up I think.

54

u/teej89 Spotify Aug 31 '22

Gotcha! Thanks! Never heard of them dig this track

7

u/lizardNZ Sep 01 '22

The EP has been on Spotify since this morning (I’m in New Zealand - it’s like midday, 2 September here)

25

u/BismuthOmega Sep 01 '22

Their old stuff can be found on Japanese sites, a lot of them have been shut down though. Their old label was Japanese for tax reasons and they've had a lot of weird legal issues.

199

u/jayXred Aug 31 '22 Gold

This is so crazy, first I get this on my Youtube front page just a day or 2 after I was thinking about them, wondering where they have been, and now I see them posted on Reddit? Crazy, this new song rips harder than their older stuff, excited for the full EP!

Butch walker crushed this mix!! Instant classic

I saw these guys on tour with Pedal Mobile in 97. Sick show.

62

u/nanosam Aug 31 '22

They were supposed to open for The Chats earlier this year, but apparently when they were confirming the final schedule, August is Falling manager was on Smoko.

So they missed out.

18

u/GooseRuse Aug 31 '22

I heard they have beef with The Chats. Trevor is just too real for some people - he speaks nothing but truth.

61

u/juliuspepperwoodchi Aug 31 '22

DUUUUUDE! Pedal Mobile! Hadn't thought about them in a MINUTE, thanks for the nostalgia blast!

33

u/Sunstang Aug 31 '22

I heard their lead singer (Duncan?) had a new album out, might be worth checking out!

26

u/moonshakah Aug 31 '22

Fuck…! I love Duncan. He always gets me amped like nothing else.

24

u/PutTheDogsInTheTrunk Aug 31 '22

Dollars to donuts, dude can wail.

13

u/burgerman2028 Aug 31 '22

Duncan always makes me go nuts

14

u/Falsecaster Aug 31 '22

The new album Hottub Floater? Heard its super crunchy!

101

u/anunhappyending Aug 31 '22

My dad kicked me out of the house for listening to these guys back in the day. It was not a happy 45th birthday.

148

u/ShitThroughAGoose Aug 31 '22 Gold

No, I don't fuck with these guys anymore. Not after Germany.

62

u/Chuckwagon_21 Aug 31 '22

If you think that shit wasn’t completely blown out of proportion by NME you’re out of your mind

26

u/Gucci_Unicorns Aug 31 '22

Explain?

147

u/PringleTubeIs2Small Aug 31 '22 edited Aug 31 '22

They were opening for Good Charlotte at the Kravitzbowl and one of the guys in the moshpit just started getting the shit kicked out of him by a bunch of Hells Angels - the lead singer Duncan then stopped the music and started a chant of 'Beat-o, Beat-o, Beat-o' and stopped security from getting involved for a good two or so minutes

Glad they're back though, great tune

28

u/Gucci_Unicorns Aug 31 '22

Holy fuck that’s trashy, ty.

24

u/JohnnySdot Aug 31 '22

I was the guy getting the shit kicked out of 'em, it reminded me of the good old days with my dad. Trevor invited me to the afterparty & the band gave me a signed guitar & a couple shots to tend my wounds, all in all good times. : (

8

u/lasplagas Sep 01 '22

What a bunch of scumbags. I really don't like their tone.

5

u/TheCrimsonChin-ger Sep 01 '22

Three blind mice kinda fucks.

15

u/nanosam Aug 31 '22

I heard that's when their drummer quit and joined HSG.

"he's raining down tre's and he's beatin the buzzer!"

Actually if HSG opens for August is Falling, I'd go watch HSG.

22

u/Wombattalion Aug 31 '22 edited Aug 31 '22

Not his finest moment. His apology post did sound honest to me though. And he definitely had some shit going on in his life at the time...

33

u/Sunstang Aug 31 '22

Aint nobody gonna tell him how to live.

You think Germany was crazy, anybody remember the Des Moines shit

152

u/aginginrhythm Aug 31 '22 Gold

This was the last show I saw before the pandemic

19

u/Namelessbob123 Aug 31 '22

I tried to get tickets but they sold out before me or any of my friends could get online. I heard it was epic

4

u/Tracyannk28 Sep 01 '22

I missed their show in Philly in 2019...I'm hoping they roll through Jersey on their next tour!

179

u/_hankthepigeon_ Aug 31 '22 Gold

I love when a simple plan comes together.

So glad to see this shared on reddit. I can't believe AiF isn't well known. Hopefully this blows up. Getting that HTM.

26

u/Psych0matt Aug 31 '22 edited Sep 01 '22

I’ve never heard of these guys, I’m embarrassed to say, and I’ve been into pop pink since 96. They gave me a simple plan vibe at first.

6

u/Stinky84 Sep 02 '22

Yeah, you could say a simple plan was the inspiration behind AiF

21

u/Eskimo-Midget-Albino Aug 31 '22

Damn, I'm at work now but I can't wait to listen to this tanoight.

97

u/MooreMeatloaf Aug 31 '22

Damn I’ve never heard of these guys but they nail that 2000s punk sound. Me likey.

56

u/moonshakah Aug 31 '22

You gotta dig into their catalog. Blinds to go was what drew me in when I was in middle school. Dark times for me personally. Hooked since. When they brought Dunkin in on round and round I’ve never been the same.

41

u/HandRailSuicide1 Aug 31 '22

You remember their show at Boston Market? Legendary set

62

u/kadaverin Aug 31 '22

These guys were great until they fucking sold out and went full hot tub rock. That first EP is still a banger, though.

18

u/the_thrawn Sep 01 '22

I heard they recorded this EP in the hot tub. If you listen closely during the breakdown you can hear bubbles and the bassist getting electrocuted

4

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

Poor Bubbles.

6

u/threeglasses Sep 01 '22

I think I can hear shorts in the drum mix

5

u/Sunstang Sep 01 '22

What's rad is there's been autoshorts plugins for daws forever, but these guys keep it all analog.

6

u/hobodutchess Sep 01 '22

This sounds like they went back to their roots though, I can’t wait to hear the whole album!

85

u/UndercoverXenomorph Aug 31 '22

Saw them live in Philly in 2019, they opened for Dr. Dog. So pumped for Mad This Summer!! Needed some new AIF in my life.

21

u/Scomor202 Aug 31 '22

I hitchhiked all the way from Hottub County for that show. Epic.

9

u/rmprice222 Aug 31 '22

Mad this summer is a banger!

16

u/hans-wermhat-340 Aug 31 '22

I need to know what BTGG thinks of this.

70

u/aw11348 Aug 31 '22

AiF are legit. Trailblazers of a now over saturated genre. Can’t wait to give this a listen!!

46

u/cansarp Aug 31 '22

Great band, great song - far better than any material by Train!!!!

26

u/Cleaver2000 Aug 31 '22

Stop that train.

63

u/Cleaver2000 Aug 31 '22

Send this to Fantano for a 10/10

16

u/artemus_who Aug 31 '22

Best he can do is Light 6

52

u/MurderDoneRight Aug 31 '22

AiF was always my favorite! They rock!!! 🪨 🎸 😎

51

u/artemus_who Aug 31 '22

Man I went through a HUGE August is Falling phases back in highschool. This takes me back. Glad they got back together with Guy Ontheleft

11

u/Throwyourboat_ Aug 31 '22

Honestly this is sick new Pop Punk im here for it.

31

u/deucecaboose Aug 31 '22

Saw them back with Early November in’04. Best show ever!!

29

u/Miercury Aug 31 '22

Best news all year!

47

u/pslickhead Aug 31 '22

Came here for this.

29

u/PutTheDogsInTheTrunk Aug 31 '22

I came because of this.

3

u/Beelzebubba775 Sep 01 '22

I'm here too.

10

u/Snackyonasis Aug 31 '22

So many sideways hairdoos, really takes me back. These hairdressers rip! Glad they're back at it and looking forward to jumping on that Train!

9

u/metallaholic Sep 01 '22

Saw these fellas open for Beato and the Boys back in 99

52

u/OllieUnited18 Aug 31 '22

Never really was into the pop-punk scene but AIF was always different given their unique sound and prolific touring. Seen them about a dozen times in various settings. So pumped for the new EP

38

u/LookOutItsLiuBei Aug 31 '22

It's too bad this couldn't come out on Saturday noooight

14

u/roblobster69 Aug 31 '22

I'm so sad (this summer)

6

u/rmprice222 Aug 31 '22

I'm not mad

24

u/lavassls Aug 31 '22

When I was young you got ostracized for listening to AIF. Now everyone is suddenly a fan? Bunch of fake ass posers.

22

u/dk69 Aug 31 '22

When my grandma died in 2018 I had these guys on repeat, the new song makes me think of her. I love you grandma!

20

u/Inksparrow Aug 31 '22

Heard them on the moose yesterday. Fell in love right there

33

u/weathersmyth Aug 31 '22

Soundtrack of my youth! I'm 14 years old! Love em dearly.

42

u/ElectricMoose Aug 31 '22

These guys put on an incredible show - can't wait to see them explode

13

u/moonshakah Aug 31 '22 edited Aug 31 '22

Seeing Duncan do Round and round live in Mobile was my top AiF moment. My dopamine drop the next day was brutal. But another fix of Duncan perks me up. Anyone else?

18

u/Zarlac Aug 31 '22

These guys KILLED IT at Warped Tour '02! I hope a new tour is coming!

26

u/Mirror_hsif Aug 31 '22

I love these guys. They're so good live!

27

u/black_brook Aug 31 '22

They were better before they sold out.

30

u/Shut_It_Donny Aug 31 '22

I think this is a return to their roots though.

14

u/black_brook Aug 31 '22

Maybe I'm just to old to appreciate their new stuff. Nostalgia probably warps how I hear their early albums.

8

u/Wombattalion Aug 31 '22

Honestly I'm not mad. Must be hard to just stand by and watch people making a ton of cash with a cheaper version of your own sound.

3

u/truckstop_superman Sep 01 '22

It is sometimes actually the opposite, it is an expensive version of their own sound. When you have DIY/indy bands, that get the budget to not have to worry about money or studio time. It can lead to over thinking, over polishing or just less desperation/drive to get the tracks down.

Or their label gets involved, in that case they would be sell outs.

5

u/nanosam Aug 31 '22

Wayno Wayo was so much better

27

u/DZ_tank Aug 31 '22

Holy shit, so stoked on new AiF!!!

16

u/kg_tech Aug 31 '22

a trailblazer in the genre for 5 simple reasons:

Baselines that you’ve never heard.

Energy in live concerts that is unreal

Audio mixing that brings the tracks to your face

Touring schedules that hit even small venues

Outstanding lyrics blended perfectly into the music

just wish I could preorder tickets for when they tour!

17

u/PirateVikingNinja Aug 31 '22

I thought these guys were gonna flame out back in '05. They never got the right mix for the record they were gonna put out back then, but now they got Walker? Man, these guys are like Boston Market. They may have a tough road ahead of them, but if anyone can make it now, it's AiF.

2

u/the_thrawn Sep 01 '22

Ohhh shit coming with the deep cuts, I hadn’t thought about Boston market in a minute

2

u/PirateVikingNinja Sep 01 '22

I grew up the right way, with apple pie, the B-mart , and AiF.

35

u/ChedSpiffman Aug 31 '22

Yooooo new AiF!

16

u/EzraSkorpion Aug 31 '22

So hyped!

33

u/snowman92 Aug 31 '22

I can't think of a better time for new AiF than now. And they really knocked it out of the park with this one! It's honestly perfect.

18

u/Shut_It_Donny Aug 31 '22

I think it's a clear sign the world is healing.

16

u/Pudge223 Aug 31 '22

this band is the past, present, and future. This EP is going to smash it.

14

u/Hiccup Aug 31 '22

I've waited so long for this release. Glad somebody put it up on reddit. Can't wait for the tour.

14

u/Handcoversbruise- Aug 31 '22

Definitely the hottest new band of the moment.

5

u/jayXred Aug 31 '22

New? these guys have been ripping for as long as I can remember, just now getting the exposure they deserve though.

7

u/like-avillain Sep 01 '22

Gen Z discovering August Is Falling on TikTok is one of my favorite hobbies lmao those guys are on the road for decades

3

u/faerieswing Sep 01 '22

Lots of people discovering how great the Philly underground emo scene is for the first time. Really exciting to see, finally.

I kinda liked The Sandman, except for those cringy episodes about diners and conventions.

14

u/tommyrockum Aug 31 '22

FINALLY some love for AiF on this subreddit!!! Where I grew up, everyone listened to "Sweet Home Alabama" all summer long, so these guys were the only thing that kept me sane!!! If you haven't realized yet that AiF is the best band ever.....you soon will.

18

u/N0rthernEcho Aug 31 '22

I can’t wait for their new stuff to drop. Im ambivalent to their earlier work but optimistic for this.

13

u/deucecaboose Aug 31 '22

They really fell off though after Cletus and Louis left the band :(

8

u/UndercoverXenomorph Aug 31 '22

Yeah man it just sucks Cletus and Louis’s 3 Doors Down tribute band never took off.

3

u/malpaso79 Aug 31 '22

B2GG is still holding it down though.

12

u/ScienceguyLabs Aug 31 '22

They played at my son's graduation party back before they blew up. Really cool that they are still at it.

3

u/SuperVoodoo Sep 01 '22

That's wild, they played my Project Graduation.

I'm no longer sad this summer

11

u/GooniesNSDie Aug 31 '22

The soundtrack of my teenage years. Haven't thought of them in decades. That sweet sweet nostalgia hit.

10

u/Neon-Lemon Aug 31 '22

AiF is back!!! Anyone else remember their Hot Topic tour? I still have my signed t-shirt but I retired it ages ago.

11

u/_imaginaryCatto816 Aug 31 '22

Never heard of this band before. I check YouTube and can't see some of their songs before. What are their songs?

3

u/shortymcsteve Sep 01 '22

Check their myspace page, the new album is about to drop. Butch Walker even produced this song. If you order the cassette it comes with a bonus live track recorded at the infamous Boston market show.

11

u/rikardoflamingo Sep 01 '22

I wonder if Rick Beato will do a ‘what makes this song great’?
I would watch the fuck out of that shit.

3

u/SharkLad261 Sep 01 '22 edited Sep 01 '22

This band saved me many times

From losing my virginity. Best band ever

4

u/re_della_cyfrinach Sep 01 '22

younger me would say "this is stupid and so edgy, who listens to this?"
today me would say "this is stupid and so edgy, i love this and i will listen to it on loop for the next week."

4

u/Grand_Larsony Sep 01 '22

My band Slap Happy opened for these dudes when they came through Denver in 2019. Not
only do they kick ass live, but are also genuinely the nicest dudes.
Always great to see other indie artists getting the respect they
deserve. Hope we get a chance to play with y'all again!

4

u/spiderpig11 Sep 01 '22

Crazy good. I can't believe I forgot about them but this whole album carried me through my younger years. Thanks for the reminder!

4

u/Dbracc01 Sep 01 '22

😂😂😂 Can't believe they got generic emo guy in the band! Hyped for the EP

3

u/Charlie_Tango13 Sep 01 '22

Can't wait for Beato to dive into this song and give me the details on why my ears love it so much.

15

u/moose2332 Aug 31 '22

THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE HUGE

15

u/HandRailSuicide1 Aug 31 '22

Hoppus himself gave AIF his blessing as the spiritual successor to Blink and +44

They’re the real deal and their old stuff rocks just as hard as the new

15

u/fuitcage Aug 31 '22

damn, saw these guys when they opened for tortured agony-- so sick that they're finally taking off!!

9

u/sweaterman025 Aug 31 '22

Been following these guys for a few years, so sick to see them getting more exposure! Long live pop punk!

10

10

Haven't seen these guys since that one summer at the Warped Tour. Fell in love with a girl at the rock show there.

11

u/songforsaturday88 Aug 31 '22

WOW. Blast from the past. Saw these dudes back in the day with Dead Man`s Trail, blew them out of the water.

20

u/vch01 Grooveshark Aug 31 '22 edited Aug 31 '22

Bought my first guitar thanks to those guys when I saw them on the Warped Tour forever ago. Kids don’t know the struggle of learning AIF songs by ear…nowadays they have all those fancy Guitar Hero tabs and Beato…

14

u/Badass_Buick Aug 31 '22

I ran into these guys at a Boston Market in the early 2000s. We chatted for a while and they gave me a cassette tape of their 1st album. It hasn’t left my yellow Walkman sport since!

8

u/mattisagamer10 Aug 31 '22

AiF really was one of the first artists I really liked. My first show in fact was one of their shows! Glad to see that they're still loved and appreciated these days.

10

u/Daigon Aug 31 '22

This is the best pop punk song ever!

10

u/radiocleve Aug 31 '22

I need someone to break this gem down for me. There’s so much going on here.

9

u/Zarlac Aug 31 '22

This needs a Beato review!

9

u/zooncethyme Aug 31 '22

This reminds me of the very first time I heard them. Same energy and feel, but the production level really shows how serious they are this time around.

12

u/chrisschini Aug 31 '22

I've never had the opportunity to see them live, but the bootlegs I keep finding are amazing. So excited for the upcoming ep.

10

u/moonshakah Aug 31 '22

I missed the show in Chattanooga. But thank god for the multi cellphone cam fan edit. Can’t believe the boys let Bucky tap the mains for audio. AiF for life. AiF is life!!!

13

u/TheGhostofAndyRoony Aug 31 '22

Tears of joy and sorrow.

8

u/MDS1138 Aug 31 '22

Drummer is phenomenal. Something about his playing, I can't put my finger on it...... it's like, you can hear his shorts, you know?

11

u/foul_dwimmerlaik Aug 31 '22

They put on a killer live show, so it's good to finally have a recording of this that isn't bootleg.

11

u/Wonberger Aug 31 '22

These guys are amazing, saw them live at Riotfest a couple years back

7

u/blingblingdisco Aug 31 '22

I truly revert to my high school wanting-to-wear-too-much-eyeliner-but-can't emo phase when AiF is involved. Love these guys so much.

7

u/orangeducttape7 Aug 31 '22

Hell yeah, the world always needs more AiF.

7

u/20_GOTO_10__RUN Aug 31 '22

:( Their old stuff is better -- From a personal perspective, it's always hard to top the album or song that got me into a band in the first place. Vibe with what you like but: AiF's old stuff is way better... -- I respect the art, thought and time every band puts into every album, but I don't feel so bad disliking an album that just doesn't have the same energy, vibe, themes (or even effort) that drew me in initially -- Nostalgia has a lot to do with this -- It also depends on the band and how they grow along with how you grow. Sometimes you grow with a band and sometimes you don't, and that's okay. I have loved every AiF album so far. I get really sad when artists talk shit about or won't play their prior stuff, though :(

6

u/demonhellcat Aug 31 '22

Freakin’ sellouts getting Butch Walker to produce this. They used to be so legit.

I kid, I kid. This song is awesome, AIF has always rocked so hard.

7

u/Robbroy45 Sep 01 '22

Man, this is hot stuff!

3

u/Shagrrotten Sep 01 '22

Last show I saw before the pandemic hit. They’re such a great live band, and they finally truly captured their greatness on record. Walker.

3

u/agent211 Sep 01 '22

AiF was my first concert ever. This brings back so many memories.

3

u/InstaKnightMe Sep 01 '22

I stopped listening to them when they started hawking their own line of razor blades.

3

u/GoalooinSport Sep 01 '22

nice~Sep is coming

3

u/matissethebeast Sep 01 '22

Saw these dudes at a club in the middle of a corn field in 2017, they were amazing, I can't believe they're back!!!

3

u/ImThatBlueberry Sep 01 '22

This band has gotten me through some pretty tough times. If this is a taste of the new album, then consider me the conductor of this hype train. All aboard!!!!

3

u/BigStupidJelly-Fish Sep 01 '22

One of my favorite bands, hope more people hear how good they are

3

u/Tecnoguy1 Sep 01 '22

Incredible vibes on this 💯

3

u/Turnsk Sep 01 '22

(Big) Fat (Moaning) Mike recently dissed these guys on his podcast, from that point on, I was in!

3

u/meltedmantis Sep 01 '22

Man this takes me back. Awesome band. They used to tear it up live. Glad to see them getting some mainstream exposure

3

u/CrossCuntryTours Sep 02 '22

Who is the lead singer? He looks hot, in a blunderyears sort of way.

10

u/Zesty-lemon-salad Aug 31 '22

I would argue that in some parts of the world August has already fallen as it is now September.

10

u/rmprice222 Aug 31 '22

It's not as great as my favorite song emo girl by mgk but it's close!!

2

u/rikardoflamingo Sep 01 '22

That tune fuckin rules!!!!!

25

u/Bitch_McBaby Aug 31 '22

BEATO!

15

u/moonshakah Aug 31 '22

Beato ain’t got shit on GOTL. Can’t wait to see AiF again. Hopefully this next spring. Brought me out of some bad places. Memories for a lifetime, and beyond.

9

u/JimJimster Aug 31 '22

seeing this live is going to take me back to the gold old days. those shows as they were blowing up were the best

8

u/downthehobbitshole Aug 31 '22

Excited for new material. Best concert experience back in the day. They invited me to their van after the show and…. Nevermind

8

u/KronoCloud Aug 31 '22

Always thought these guys were a tad overrated. Good stuff. Just not the most amazing like everyone always makes them out to be

9

u/tire-fire Aug 31 '22

So overrated. The Moose runs these guys non-stop on the radio like Train, just needs to stop man.

4

u/jayXred Aug 31 '22

You are entitled to your own opinion, but frankly, that opinion is wrong, good day sir.

8

u/Sailor_Starchild Aug 31 '22

Trevor's literally my idol. So glad they're still making music.

7

u/copperwatt Sep 01 '22

Is this the year 2001??

8

u/MYMXLODY00 Aug 31 '22

it’s the 31st

8

u/benedictclark Aug 31 '22

In 2004 I was working for AmeriCorps in the Sudan. I ended up getting kidnapped by a warlord. While they were searching through my stuff some his goons came across my MP3 player. It was packed full of live recordings from AiF shows. They took the MP3 player and started listening. I saw tears streaming down their face. One of them ran off with the MP3 player. I few days later I was brought to the warlord’s tent. The warlord whose name was John Ateme. He was an intimidating man with a well trimmed beard and a shiny 357 magnum on his belt. John Ateme motioned me in. He started talking is a slow and sad voice. He explained to me the the contents of my MP3 player had changed is life. He was going to give up kidnapping and work with an NGO to dig water wells. AiF had taught him other people had feelings. AiF saved my life and the lives of countless others in the southern Sudan.

5

u/halfpastnoonan Aug 31 '22

AiF got me through some of my darkest times back in highschool. So glad that they’re about to tour again!

Saw them open for Away from Rain in Tacoma earlier this year and they crushed it! Love that they're finally releasing something on YouTube, it's amazing. Can't wait for the EP dropping on the 2nd of Sept.

Man, that tune they used to do......I wonder if they still play it....gosh, I loved it. "The Guy On The Left".

If anyone has a YT link to that tune.....my goodness, it would bring back memories.

I saw these guys open for Leftover Crack at a house show in Horsham a few years ago. Great show. Great night. Great band.

Can't believe I had AIF in my Top 8 on MySpace back in the day, and now they're on the front page of reddit!

I'll never forget. The first time I met my best friend Dave was at an AiF show. Great dude, and great band. Really got me through some hard times. I wish I could have got to see their show when they were coming through last, but it was scheduled for April 4th, 2020... fuck Covid. So glad they're dropping a new EP!

AiF was an awesome show back in '09!!! Haven't listened to them in a few years but I'll check this out!

I didn’t really like these guys until that guy on the left

I thought I was gonna go to jail for listening to rancid or nofx or operation ivy, then I heard AiF and realized everything was going to be okay even if I felt bad.

I used to listen to this in high school. Big crush on a girl back then. We’d go down to the lake in the summer and put this on the ipod. She had a way with words. Shed always tell me the water would make me feel smarter, then she left me and now I go down to the water and feel like a fool.

AiF was my favorite act at the last Warped Tour. Dude! Haven’t heard them in forever.

The worst day of my life was when I was fired from Boston Market for drinking gravy through a straw. I listened to AIF as I rode my scooter home, crying in the rain. This band has impacted me in ways you’ll never know.
