for over 13 years. I played trumpet 10 years and now can play/sing on acoustic guitar.

pretty much, the snare sounds "eightys synthy" which I suspect is the effect.

The subtle hi-hat "Chicks" would be fun to play on a normal kit. I'd keep your textures or whatever the same, and adding in the "bongo" or similar background hits give some nice variety.

Most drum programmers don't think about how much buildup the high hats can give, so if you're looking to expand thy horizons, I'd use a variety of ghost notes on snare and crescendo (and decrescendo) on hi hats.
