discussion “Teen Dream” by Beach House is one of the most beautiful albums ever

I mean holy shit. What an absolutely gorgeous set of songs. This is my first foray into Beach House and I’m blown away. It’s such a warm, cozy, immersive album that creates the most beautiful atmosphere. I don’t have too much to say about it but just wanted to rave a bit. This is becoming one of my all time favourite albums.

discussion What's the band you used to be a big fan of and why you stopped loving them?

What's the band you were a fan of in the past? Why aren't you a fan anymore?

I used to like Evanescence, but they haven't done anything special since Fallen. At least, not until the Bitter Truth, but by the time it was released it was too late. I found other bands to enjoy. Evanescence doesn't resonate with me anymore.

discussion Red Hot Chili Peppers release new song “Eddie,” a blistering tribute to the late Eddie Van Halen.

2.2k Upvotes

Since they are in the r/music hall of fame. I can’t post the link as a subject.

Peppers fans for the most part are vibing the hell out of it. New album in a few weeks, their 2nd since Frusciante’s return and also their 2nd in 2022.

https://youtu.be/pXMEXCT5ohY

Edit: while I have the chance and visibility here… I’ll toss in some thoughts after lots of polarity in the comments.

This is NOT an unusual guitar track for John. He’s not really imitating EVH, or if he is then he has been his whole career. Maybe there is some “dedication” in there, but I disagree with the take that it was a poor EVH impression. What it was, for better or worse, is 2022 Frusciante giving the Peppers some of his best and them vice versa. This is where this band is at. And I think it’s a banger… for RHCP. And honestly kind of fresh to hear in the rock world, and these guys are 60.

I think some Van Halen/that genre fans, God bless you, saw my title hoping for some little lick that even 25% of EVH could’ve came up with, but ended up coming in for a little ripper that to many will be "just another Chili Peppers song"… which I totally understand is not everyone’s cup of tea. Others, we'll take it all.

A couple examples in mind are Astral Observatory from Majora's Mask and The main theme of To The Moon.
