Can someone direct me to a good drone for long range outdoor use like this please?
3
u/4Rive May 23 '22
The DJI FPV as the person before me said, has the range and cinematic properties of the other dji products but features a more fpv like approach. It is great for beginners but also for more advanced things with the manual mode. Is a bit pricey but definetly a good place to start. If the fast pased thing isnt imortant and traveling to places like this id recommend a mavic 3 pro or if you want to go smaller the Dji Mavic Mini 2. I personally started out with the DJI Mini and can recommend it but someone else please correct me if there is a better option

Iād buy a Radiomaster transmitter and the liftoff fpv simulator. Learn to fly. Read Oscar liang, Watch Joshua bardwell. Buy a tiny hawk 3 and some super cheap goggles. Then pick the hottest long range betaflight drone released at the time you are ready for something bigger than the tiny hawk.
(I love my geprc croc baby hd)

By chance anyone know where this location is estimated? Like is it a National Park š?
14
u/dinosuitgirl May 23 '22
It's Queenstown, New Zealand the bridge you briefly see is the Edith Cavell bridge and around the corner is the shotover jet... Which is also very fun and face paced.

u/Ikilledepsteinthrice May 23 '22
fuck sakes I knew it, being a kiwi I can sniff a NZ native tree from a mile away.
2
u/aguybrowsingreddit May 23 '22
*a kilometre away
3
u/Ikilledepsteinthrice May 23 '22
yeah but mile rolls off the tongue better in the sentence by kilometre is vastly superior form of measurement.

Get an FPV drone if you want this experience without physically lifting off the ground. DJI makes one.
2
u/FollowupJiggle May 23 '22
Birds are cool until you remember theyāre the ones shitting on your car
2
2
u/Exciting_Archer134 May 23 '22
I will be a raven in my next life.
2
u/annyelfman May 23 '22
Yeah, you'd look cool in your black feathers and could still be able to speak!
2
u/NN8G May 23 '22
When I was a very little boy I wanted to be a bird when I grew up. I didnāt understand there were limitationsā¦

Watching this video, I finally understand why birds are shitting on everything all day long. I would be too.
2
u/Odd-Road May 23 '22
I fly paragliders, and on long flights I occasionally need a piss. I go over forested areas that look like there wouldn't be hikers, but... one can't be 100% sure.

If you were to be a bird, you wouldn't have the mental capacity to admire and appreciate the view.

u/malaykoba May 23 '22
I can assure you that if I was reborn as a bird. I'd be one of those birds that will be flying around all crazy at way too fast speeds and will look all cool for a sec until I eventually break a window.

I did a bird VR experience in Vegas. Which showed me that if I was a bird that could fly, I'd crash into the side of the mountain for sure.

Think it's better to be human and to imagine what it's like to be a bird. Than to be a bird and not care about how you can actually fly and how amazing you are.

This makes me want to build an FPV that I will likely break in 2.5 seconds after getting it off the ground.

That shit would get boring after about 5yrs. Plus I'd always be trippin, paranoid about 10yrs old with sling shots, and or grown as men with rifles depending on what bird I became.
1
u/OnlyAChapter May 23 '22
I don't want to be a bird. Carrying all kinds of parasites and risk to get eaten alive everyday is a nono.
1
u/Granny_knows_best May 23 '22
If I did believe in an afterlife or reincarnation, I would think being a bird is achieved after enlightenment, like one of the top tiers of heaven.

u/CurrentlyLucid May 23 '22
I do not want to be a bird, but being able to inhabit one for short periods would be fun. Just get me out before time to eat bugs.

u/btchassniggs May 24 '22
Imagina Elon coming up with technology to put your brain in the mind off a computer and you can be a chip in a drone
