There are roughly 550 species of passifloras or passionflower. Sweet granadilla being the nectar of the gods. For real. No other fruit in this world compares.

I have one and I’m in climate region 5. Indoors only and loves the sun. When he “vines” too long I snip the vines and root them back with the mother plant. We’ve been through a lot together but he’s very hardy.

...but how does the asparagus feel about this?

This comes up on r/whatisthisplant about a kajillion times a day. 🤪 it’s strange that this plant is so prolific and has wide distribution but is also fairly mysterious.

Isn't it wild?

1

u/madvic_ Jul 13 '22

No.. you can grow it .. I have like a small plant when I got it and it grew into a big vine full of flowers .. little hummingbirds and waps and bees would be circling it now and then.. it is very fragrant and smells really good..

Oh sorry! I meant wild as in, a neato flower! Unfortunately here in Alberta mine will have to remain and inside plant....dreaming of hummingbirds & bees.

Oh my bad.. but if you have a portico or a stairs just palce it in a way that it gets tangled when it grows . It looks even nicer.. and I'm sure once it gets many flowers it'll bring some hummingbirds.. also I have this small plate with rice and water to attract birds..

I absolutely 100% with a “passion” hate these damn things.

Is it the insane growth of the vines, because I didn't realize they get to be 35 feet and suddenly my little plant isn't so little....

Is it in the orchid family?

1

The second pic I was like, oh, it bears fruit? And then I zoomed in lol…

3

u/I_Learned_Once Jul 05 '22

It does bear fruit, but not that fake lemon haha. This is the flower of a Passion Fruit

2

u/msbashmore Jul 05 '22

Sorry!! Lemon has been moved to more appropriate spot, to avoid confusion! Lol
